REPORT ON THE BEDFORD SHOW 2009

Congratulations to Linda and Alan on a well run show, also many thanks to my steward, Pat Tegg, for all her assistance. I was honoured to be asked to judge overall best in show and the line-up was most impressive. My final choice was the super young Oriental Longhair kitten, Mylynn Magnifique, who truly was magnificent.

PERSIAN BI-COLOURED KITTEN: FEMALE

1 BOB WALKER TINABEE WHITE DOVE 12a2

Cobby kitten on sturdy legs, large paws well tufted, short bushy tail. Very well prepared coat is mainly pure white showing just a large pale blue patch on her spine, blue tail and a tiny blue patch on her face. Some staining on the face under the eyes. Round head, neat well furnished ears set low and wide apart, round forehead, strong chin, good bite. Short broad nose, well formed leather, large round deep orange eyes show bold expression.

BOB only: VALENTINE GR PR ANSTEYN LOTTIE

Very nice type overall, long fine coat, very good colour, well shaped head, very nice eyes and expression.

BLUE POINT BIRMAN KITTEN: MALE

1 BOB IZZARD DUBROVA SUMATRA

Well structured kitten of very good type, well shaped legs and feet. Lovely silken coat has ruff developing, bluish-white with good contrast on points, tidy markings to feet. Rounded head, ears well spaced, slight dip in profile, almost round eyes are deep blue. He has a lovely face and expression.

TURKISH VAN KITTEN: MALE

1 BOB JOHNSON AKDAMAR TAZI 13d od

Lovely kitten and super example of a Turk. Excellent chalk white coat covers him and is beautifully prepared, well balanced auburn markings on face and auburn tail. Well shaped head, broad wedge, medium nose, barely perceptible profile dip. Large oval eyes, one light auburn, the other has colour still changing but faint blue ring to be seen. A super kitten who is very alert.

SEAL POINT BIRMAN NEUTER: MALE

1 PR BOB KEMP SHANDATAL PRINCE OFHEARTS

A most handsome mature exhibit of excellent type. Lovely well prepared coat with full ruff, colour pale beige with deep seal points, tidy markings to feet. Strong head is broad and rounded, ears well placed, well developed muzzle. Deep blue eyes and he has such a lovely expression. I understand he became a Premier today so congratulations to his owner and his breeder and especially to Puss himself.

TABBY BIRMAN NEUTER: FEMALE ,

1 PR WOOD PR RIVANNA FIORELLA 13c11

A very attractive girl who, sadly, was not very happy. Very nice type and well proportioned. Lovely coat has silken texture and the tabby markings are so clearly defined including the thumb prints on her ears. Broad rounded head, ears set well apart, fullness at cheeks and chin. Very good eye colour, she has such a lovely face and expression.

Well known boy looking very good today and he has a lovely nature.

MAINE COON SILVER SERIES NEUTER: MALE

1 PR BOB MCQUILKIN NORACOON GORGEOUS GEORGE

A stunning exhibit; only just adult but extremely well formed, feeling solid and muscular and very well proportioned. Lovely well prepared coat of rich colour, clear silver base, really long furry tail, his ruff is developing. Medium head, square muzzle, very good profile line. Large well furnished ears set high and held well, very nice eyes and lovely expression.

SELKIRK REX ADULT: MALE

1 IC BOB LEE SEWNSEW WOTSITABOUT ALFIE 79s 16

Well structured young boy whose cobby muscular body feels solid. Well boned limbs with round firm paws, very good tail. Thick dense coat stands out feeling plush, waves and curls all over, tail curls plush. Broad round head on short neck, full cheeks, medium width to muzzle, well padded whisker pads give rectangular impression visible beyond cheeks. Short broad nose, ears set well apart, Large round well–opened eyes. Lovely expression.

2 PALMER CURRLY DAGLO VAN BRIFETY (IMP) 79L 15c

Another young boy who has lovely solid structure and is well grown. Muscular torso is rectangular, well boned limbs with firm round paws. His coat has loose random unstructured waves with longer ruff, plumy tail curls. Broad round head still shaping-up at the muzzle, rounded forehead, short broad nose. Ears broad at base and set well apart, Well-opened large round eyes set wide.

SELKIRK REX ADULT: FEMALE

1 IC FRASER-SMITH WOTMORE SWEET CHARITY 79s 40 2

Well proportioned, cobby and muscular, well boned legs with round paws, tail shape good. Thick dense coat stands out and feels soft and plush, curls and waves all over. Round head has full cheeks, whisker pads well padded, short broad nose, good chin. Ears broad at base set well apart, large round well opened eyes. Has very good substance for her size.

2 SUTTON CURLICIOUS BLOSSOM 79L 40 9

This young lady is under a year old and at the adolescent stage. Well boned legs of medium length, firm round paws. Her coat has random unstructured waves, ruff developing to frame her face, plumy tail curls stand away. Round head needs time to shape-up and muzzle is rather fine at present, medium ears set well apart, round well opened eyes are expressive.

RUSSIAN BLUE ADULT: MALE

1 CC BOB BOND-WONNEBERGER CH FURBELL STARGAZER

Stytlish young man of very good type and structure, long firm limbs, very good tail. His coat has very nice texture, dense undercoat, clear blue throughout with distinct silvery sheen. Well shaped head, prominent whisker pads, distinct angle to virtually straight profile, firm chin. Large ears set vertically, vivid green almond eyes.

RUSSIAN BLUE ADULT: FEMALE

1 CC BANDY TROIKA SHEREMETEVA

Well structured young lady feeling firm and muscular, well proportioned legs, neat oval paws, moderately long tail. Short coat has dense undercoat, feeling soft, very good colour with distinct silvery sheen. Head well shaped, wedge is short, prominent pads, very good profile line and firm chin. Large pointed ears set vertically, green almond shaped eyes, nice expression.

ORIGINAL FOREIGN PREMIER NEUTER: MALE

GR PR BANDY IGR PR TROIKA LE CORSAIRE

Super boy of lovely type, solid and muscular, well proportioned tail and limbs. Lovely coat is double with dense undercoat, clear blue throughout showing distinct silvery sheen. Strong head, large ears wide at base and set vertically, very good profile, wide-set almond eyes are vivid green. He has such a lovely gentle expression.

ORIGINAL FOREIGN PREMIER NEUTER: FEMALE

GR PR DEAN GR PR CLANCLINTON CLANDALLAS

Mature lass of very nice type, high on legs, neat oval paws, long tail which she kept tucked up around her! Completely covered in soft dense coat which has waves and ripples right down to her toes, tail shows wavy fur. Her head has short broad wedge, high cheeks, good muzzle and whisker break, short nose with definite stop. Large low-set ears, large oval eyes well set.

OCICAT CLASSIC NEUTER ASSESSMENT:

MERIT TO: CROFT PARDALIS APOLLO 73 41k

Male Large well structured boy not yet a year old. Feeling solid and muscular, well proportioned tail and limbs. His coat is sleek and has satiny texture, rich cinnamon showing noticable butterfly and oyster markings, barring on legs, lovely head and facial markings. Head has well shaped modified wedge, very nice profile line, broad muzzle, moderate whisker pinch. Ears of good shape are set alert, large green almonds for eyes. A super exhibit, I loved him.
