The Bedford and District Cat Club Show

25th April 2009

Many thanks to Linda and Alan for the kind invitation to judge again at the Bedford- 12 months since my first engagement! The show was very well run and had an excellent Burmese entry. I had some super classes and lovely cats to judge and I would like to thank the exhibitors and also my steward and friend Jan Bradley for her hard work and good handling of the exhibits.

Class 402a Lilac Burmese Kitten Male

1st Moore’s Moongazer Monsoon (27c) M 01.11.08
A well grown chap of nearly 6 months. He had a moderately short wedge with good width at his cheekbones and tapering to a slightly long but blunt finished muzzle. He had reasonably good width to the top of his head with fairly good width between his ears which I would have preferred to be set slightly lower. His ears were medium in size and had a broad base and rounded tips. His eyes were medium in size and set well apart and had a correct shape with a rounded bottom line and a flatter top line angled towards his nose. They were slightly deep set, which was enhanced by his somewhat heavy brow. They were yellow in colour. He had a reasonably good Burmese expression. In profile his depth of head was good and his ears displayed a slight forward tilt. His brow was gently rounded and his nose break was reasonably well defined. His nose was not quite straight and had a fall off at his nose leather. It finished in the same vertical plane as his chin which was medium in depth. His bite was correct. His body was well grown for his age and he was already developing good muscularity. His chest was rounded and his back was straight and he had long and elegant legs and paws which were slightly too large for his frame currently but will no doubt be in proportion as he grows. His tail was slightly thick at the base and tapered to a rounded tip and was long enough to balance. His coat was medium in length and soft in texture and lay well. He was a clear coated slightly darker lilac tone with a blueish mask but with some warmth and pinkish tones on his body. His condition was good and he handled perfectly well although was happier in his pen.

Class 402b Lilac Burmese Kitten Female

1st and BOB Yardley’s Papagena Yana Yardley (27c) F 01.09.08
A lilac girl of good type who was lively and inquisitive. She had a short wedge with good width at her cheek bones and tapering to a reasonably short and blunt muzzle. She had nice rounding to the top of her head and good width between her ears that were set well apart and nicely continued the line of the upper part of her face. They were medium/large in size and had a broad base and rounded tips. Her eyes were large in size and set well apart and had a correct well defined shape with a well rounded lower line and a flatter top line angled towards her nose. They were yellow in colour with a chartreuse inner rim. She had a very nice Burmese expression. In profile her depth of head was reasonably good and her ears showed a slight forward tilt. Her brow was gently rounded and her nose break needed a touch more definition. Her nose was straight, slightly long and finished in the same vertical plane as her chin which was slightly shallow. Her bite was correct. Her body was well grown and she felt a good weight for her size. Her chest was rounded and her back was straight and she had elegant legs and neat oval shaped paws. Her tail was medium thick at the base and tapered to a rounded tip which was a little bony. It was slightly short and only just balanced. Her coat was medium in length and had a soft texture and lay well. She was a clear coated pale to mid toned lilac with some blueish tones on her tail and face. Her condition was very good and she was keen to be entertained by us!

They were set very well apart and had excellent definition with a well rounded bottom line and a flatter top line that was angled towards her nose. They were chartreuse in colour. She had a super Burmese expression. In profile the depth of her head was good and her ears showed a slight forward tilt, her brow was gently rounded and her nose break was well defined. Her nose was fairly short and straight except for a tiny bump. Her nose finished in the same vertical plane as her chin which was medium in depth. Her bite was correct. Her body was compact and had a lovely heavy feel. She had good muscularity and a rounded chest and straight back. Her legs were elegant and her paws neat and oval shaped. Her tail was of medium thickness at the base and tapered to a rounded tip with a slight end irregularity. It was long enough to balance. Her coat was medium short in length and had a soft texture and lay very well. She was a lovely warm honey toned chocolate and was clear coated. Her condition was very good and she had a very sweet temperament. I said 12 months ago that she knows she is something special- and I still agree with her!
2nd Matthews’s Katchyn Kontiki (27) M
A very promising young boy with lovely type and temperament. He had a super balanced short wide wedge with very good width at his cheekbones and tapering to a short muzzle with a lovely blunt finish. He had very good rounding to the top of his head with very good width between his ears that were set well apart and continued nicely the shape of the upper part of his face. His ears were medium in size and had a broad base and rounded tips. His eyes were largish in size and ideally I would have preferred them slightly larger. They were set well apart and had a well defined shape with a rounded bottom line and a flatter top line angled towards his nose. They were yellow chartreuse in colour. He had a very good Burmese expression. In profile the depth of his head was reasonably good and his ears showed a slight forward tilt. His brow was gently rounded and his nose break was reasonably well defined. His nose was fairly short and he had a slight fall off at the nose leather. It just finished in the same vertical plane as his chin which was medium in depth. He was well grown and had very good muscularity. His chest was rounded and his back was straight. His tail was medium thickness at the base and tapered to a rounded tip and was long enough to balance. His coat was medium in length and soft in texture and he was developing a good glossy appearance. He was a darker toned seal brown and was clear coated with no white hairs seen. His condition was very good and he was very friendly and attentive. A charmer!

In profile the depth of her head was fairly good and her ears showed a slight forward tilt. Her brow was gently rounded and her nose break reasonably well defined. Her nose was slightly long and her chin was a little shallow and set back slightly. Her bite was correct. Her body was well grown and she had good muscularity and a rounded chest and straight back. She was an even darker toned but warm chocolate and was clear coated. Her condition was good and she handled very well. A gentle lady.
3rd Moore’s Moongazer Hocus Pocus (27b) F
A mature girl with a super coat. She had a short wedge with good width at her cheekbones and tapering to a slightly long muzzle that initially looked slightly pointed but had a blunt finish when she was at rest. She had reasonable rounding to the top of her head and reasonable width between her ears that I would have preferred set slightly lower. They were medium in size and had a broad base and rounded tips. Her eyes were largish in size and set well apart and had a well defined shape with a well rounded bottom line and a flatter top line angled towards her nose. They were golden in colour. She had a very nice Burmese expression. In profile the depth of her head was good and her eras showed slight forward tilt. Her brow was gently rounded and her nose break reasonably well defined. It needed more length and was short to balance. Her coat was lovely and short and had a fine texture and lay well. It had a good glossy finish and was a warm mid-toned chocolate with warm tones. She was clear coated. Her temperament was good and she was a busy girl who handled well.
Extra 3rd Moore’s Dulcamara Petronella (27c) F
A  young lilac girl of good type who was a little upset. She had a short wedge with good width at her cheekbones and a fairly short muzzle with a blunt finish. She had good rounding to the top of her head and she had good width between her ears that were set well apart and continued the line of the upper part of her face. Her ears were medium-large in size and had a broad base and rounded tips. Her eyes were fairly large in size and set well apart. The upper and lower lids were correctly dissimilar shape with the top line flatter than the bottom line and angled towards her nose but I would have liked more rounding to the bottom line for preference. Her brow was gently rounded and her nose break was very well defined. Her nose was straight and slightly long and finished in the same vertical plane as her chin that was of medium depth. Class 676b AC Burmese Breeders Adult

Incredible quality! Thank you.
1st Wilshaw’s Ch Rossikhan Centrefold (27c) F
Well…..she was certainly my best cat of the day but I think it extremely doubtful she would have allowed me to take her home. Lovely balanced short wide wedge with excellent width at her cheek bones and tapering to a short muzzle with a blunt finish. She had very good rounding to the top of her head and excellent width between her ears that were set very well apart beautifully continuing the shape of the upper part of her face. Her ears were large in size and had a broad base and rounded tips. Her eyes were a super size- truly large and lustrous. They were set very well apart and had a very well defined shape with a very well rounded bottom line and a flatter top line that was angled towards her nose. They were chartreuse in colour. It is for me her expression that sets her apart- thrillingly wicked and as I wrote in my notes “fantastic”.  In profile she had good depth of head and her ears showed slight forward tilt. Her brow was gently rounded and her nose break was very well defined. Her nose was reasonably short and straight and finished in the same vertical plane as her chin which was medium in depth. Her bite was correct. Her body was compact and feminine and she felt heavy for her size and had good muscularity. Her chest was rounded and her back was straight and she had elegant legs and neat oval paws. Her tail was medium thickness at the base and tapered to a rounded tip and was long enough to balance. Her coat was well prepared and medium/short in length and lay very well. She was a paler toned lilac with warm pinkish tones. She was clear coated. Her condition was very good and her temperament was in keeping with her justified high opinion of herself. And it did enhance her looks!
2nd Williams’s GrCh Molynmeux Zeuxzeuxs Petals (27j) F
Super girl with another fantastic expression who ran the winner extremely close. Again a lovely balanced short wedge with excellent width at her cheekbones and tapering to a blunt finish to her short muzzle. She had good rounding to the top of her head and excellent width between her ears which were set very well apart and continued the shape of the upper part of her face. Her ears were large in size and had a broad base and rounded tips. Her eyes were large and lustrous and set well apart and had a super well defined shape with a well rounded bottom line and a flatter top line angled towards her nose. They were chartreuse in colour. In profile her depth of head was reasonably good and her ears showed slight forward tilt. Her brow was gently rounded and her nose break well defined. She had a shortish nose that was straight and finished in the same vertical plane as her chin which was medium/shallow in depth. Her bite was correct. Her body was well grown and she felt heavy with good muscularity. Her back was straight and her chest was rounded and she had elegant legs and neat oval paws. Her tail was medium thickness at the base and tapered to a rounded tip and was long enough to balance. Her coat was medium in length, soft and fine and lay well. Her coat was a mixture of darker toned lilac and slightly warm cream and was prettily mingled. She was clear coated. Her condition was very good and her temperament was friendly but she was happier in her pen.
