Bedford & District CC Show – 25th April 2009

Report by Mrs. Dorothy A Stone.
What a delight it was to judge at this super, well run show thus my profound thanks to ALAN & LINDA for inviting me, also for the lovely prezzie & absolutely delicious lunch. Heartfelt thanks also to the nonpareil MIKE MILLER, for coming especially to steward for me. It was a pleasure to work with you again, Mike & hope we’ll work together again soon. Thanks also to the exhibitors for such a magnificent entry, especially in the Grand classes where I was really spoilt for choice. I could easily have awarded 4 Grand certs in each class had I been able to do so. My cat of the day however, was BESWICK’s gorgeous Brown gentleman Pr Mainman Leonardo who (together with Sue Robinson’s Rossikhan JoJo) is the cuddliest Burmese ever to tread this earth! What a character - he jolly nearly came home with me!!

AC BURMESE MALE CHAMPION. 6 present.

In addition to the two mentioned below, Ch Rossikhan Sweetbaby James and Gd Ch Mainman Kissanova really impressed me.
Grand MOORE’s Gd Ch ANOKHI BOY GEORGE. Lilac. 2 yrs, 1 mth.
Short blunt jowly wedge of very good width, wide dome with slipped crown (crown lies behind the ears instead of between them), large well shaped ears correctly set thus continue the line of the wedge. Profile shows rounding to brow, slightly flat forehead, well defined break to slightly long nose, chin recedes & is shallow, level bite. Large lustrous yellow-chartreuse eyes enhanced by mascara are well shaped, set & have that typical sultry scowl! Large, mature male, elegant & well balanced has well shaped body of good weight with required hard muscular feel, well muscled legs, neat oval paws, well shaped tail prefer longer to balance. Sprayed on coat of lovely mother of pearl pink has satin texture & a healthy shine. Adorable chap shown in splendid condiditon whom I love to bits & is a credit to all his connections – we had a lovely cuddle.
Res. PALLISTER’s Gd Ch PENWYNKATZ CRÈME DELIGHT. Cream. 2 ½ yrs.
Fairly short blunt jowly wedge of good width, gentle rounding to wide top of head that has a slipped crown, large well set ears are of good shape. Profile shows rounded brow & forehead, well defined break to slightly long nose, deep level chin & level bite. Gorgeous primrose yellow eyes have typical expression. Mature chap of good size has well shaped elegant body that could be somewhat heavier & more muscular (been working?), shapely limbs, tapering tail of good length has a tiny invisible irregularity near the tip. Short, slightly dry feeling coat is a tad hot in colour but has that lovely “bloom” on rounded areas; clear but for a faint broken necklace. Shown in good physical condition he has the sweetest, gentlest nature imaginable – I could have cuddled him forever! He lost a point or two on his tail & lack of substance.

AC BURMESE FEMALE CHAMPION. 10 judged, 1 withdrawn.

A truly superb line-up (for which my grateful thanks) – I was spoilt for choice! In addition to those mentioned below I was also impressed by Ch Molynmeux Adorable & Ch Oakenshield Ladywriter (not forgetting dear Oatcake, of course!).
Grand WILSHAW’s Ch ROSSIKHAN CENTREFOLD. Lilac. 1 yr, 5 mths.
Super wedge & dome, correctly set & shaped ears could be a tad smaller for perfection. Profile shows rounded brow & forehead, definite break to sloping nose, chin is level but shallow, level bite. Gorgeous primrose yellow eyes enhanced by mascara have a really “eff off or die” expression today (love it)! Stylish well balanced young queen is of good size, weight & conformation with fit firm feel, shapely limbs, slightly fine tail of good length tapers at the tip. Fabulous sprayed on coat of mother-of-pearl pink has satin texture & sheen. Shown in top condition this gorgeous girl had been upset by a neighbour thus was very tense today.
Res ROBINSON’s Ch ROSSIKHAN VELVETMISS. Blue. 2 yrs, 2 weeks.
Lovely short wide blunt wedge, good width to gently rounded top of head, well shaped & set ears could be slightly smaller for perfection. Profile shows well defined break, level but shallow chin, level bite. Large lustrous yellow-chartreuse eyes enhanced by mascara are well set, shaped & have that wonderful scowl. Mature, stylish queen of super size & weight, has well shaped body with required muscular athletic feel, well muscled elegant legs, dainty spoon-shaped paws, tapering rather fine tail has a few rings & needs an inch or so to balance. Quality glossy coat of lovely antique pewter blue has required silvering on rounded areas, particularly her paws. Another utterly gorgeous girl shown in splendid condition – just lost a point or two on account of her tail.

RED BURMESE NEUTER. 1 present.

PC & BoB KEMPE’s UK GdCh & Pr OAKENSHIELD ACORN. FN. 11yrs, 2 wks.
A wonderful lady of superb type, coat & colour in splendid physical condition for her age & beautifully presented – she just needs fining down somewhat for her health’s sake (her & me both)!
