Mrs Jenny JonesShow Reports from Bristol & District Cat Club Show 18.04.09My thanks go to Elaine and Lisa for the invitation to judge at this popular all breed show, it was good to see a good entry of Siamese and Orientals. Huge thanks to Liz Corrigan who stepped in to steward for me – her first time and she did a brilliant job, I hope we can do it again sometime Liz. OPEN CLASSESOriental Tortoiseshell Adult1st CC BOB DAWE’S CH BARBECCO WALLISIMPSON (37e) F 04.10.06A good start to the day, an elegant feminine queen of stylish type, not a big cat but all in proportion with a well balanced even wedge head. Straight ‘roman’ profile, level bite, chin slopes away a touch. Expressive oriental eyes of clear green. Large ears, open based and very well set. Elegant neckline, lengthy fine boned body, long slender limbs, fine stringy tail that needs an inch for perfect balance. Short sleek coat of sound jet black all beautifully mingled throughout with shades of red. Relaxed and easy to handle, beautifully shown and presented. Oriental Bicolour Intermediate Kitten 1st BOB RUDGE’S ASHJOLEX SANDIMESE STORM (48 40n) F 04.08.08Oriental bicolour kitten, promising in type but rather small for 8 months old, although she felt weighty and was well covered. Medium wedge head, small pinch and good topline. Straight profile, neat level bite, chin a touch shallow. Eyes oriental in set and shape of clear bright blue held just a little full. Large ears open based and very well set. Lengthy firm body, long legs, neat paws. Long fine tail. Short sleek coat with points rather bluey in tone with pale shading on back and flanks. White flash across nose, on chin and down chest continuing in an unbroken line under stomach, on front legs and up around shoulders and white on both back paws. In all approx 35 – 40% white. A relaxed friendly kitten, very good condition and comfortably presented. Seal Point Siamese Adult MaleFOR BOB ONLY (WITHHELD) STEPHENSON’S CH MAGICAL BECKSTAR BALOO (24) M 28.03.07Seal point male, although over 2 years old he is rather small and lacks masculinity. Medium rather pinched wedge head with very good topline. Profile with small rise between eyes, good bite and chin. Oriental eyes needing more depth to the blue. Large open based very well set ears. Long svelte body, long slender limbs, long tapering tail. Short fine textured coat with very dark seal points and dark almost black heavy shading lacking contrast. Very good to handle, well shown and presented. Blue Point Siamese Adult Female1st CC BOB HAND’S CH SANDTUM KEIRA (24a) F 10.11.06Lovely big strong queen yet still feminine. A mature girl of very good overall type with a medium wedge head, small pinch and very good topline. Almost straight profile, bottom front teeth missing but bite looked level, firm chin. Expressive oriental eyes of bright mid blue she just tends to hold them a touch wide. Large wide based very well set ears. Long slightly plump body, long slender limbs, tail needs length to balance. Short fine textured coat, clear with good soft lilac based caramel points colour. Very good to handle, excellent condition and comfortably presented. Chocolate Point Siamese Neuter Male This class I found difficult as there was no clear winner, in the end I decided on the cat with the best points’ colour.1st PC BOB JUDGE’S MALIKASIAM MICKAEL MAGNUM (24b) MN 02.05.08Huge and lengthy neuter who was marginally the best type in the class, although the certificate was marginal because of his excess weight! On speaking to his owner later in the day I was pleased to hear he is on a strict diet! Longer wedge head with small pinch and very good topline. Small bump between eyes on profile, good bite and chin. Oriental eyes of medium blue, held a touch full at times. Large open based very well set ears. Very lengthy very plump body, stood tall on long legs with neat paws. Tail needs an inch for perfect balance. Super coat, very short and sleek, just lightly shaded with good soft warm chocolate points colour. A purry friendly young cat, very well shown and presented. 2nd CRUMPLER’S SARNAJES SULTANOFSWING (24b) MN 03.02.08Another big strong chocolate point neuter who ran the winner closely for type but his points colour was dark and rather cold toned. Longer wedge head with pinch and very good topline. Uneven profile, good bite and chin, Oriental set and shape to eyes of vivid blue. Large ears, wide based and very well set. Long firm body, long legs, neat paws, tail rather thick and needs length to balance. Fine textured short coat almost clear pale ivory with points colour as described, the tail showing brindling. Excellent condition and comfortably presented, rather nervous and difficult to handle 3rd JUDGE’S MALIKASIAM JERRY JERABOAM (24b) MN 02.05.08I see this young cat is litter brother to the winner, a large lad with a medium wedge head, small pinch and good sized flared ears just needing a touch more width between them for perfect balance. Profile almost straight, level bite, chin could be deeper. Oriental eyes of bright mid blue. Lengthy lithe body, long slender limbs, tapering tail of good length. Close lying short coat almost clear warm ivory with good warm mid chocolate points colour. Super temperament, gentle and purry, very well shown and presented. 4th MORGAN’S ASTRALBLAESE ACHILLES (24b) MN 22.03.08This young man was extremely nervous and difficult to extract from his pen, although not aggressive in any way, he could not wait to get back to its safety! Longer wedge head with pinch and topline needing more width to balance. Almost straight profile, few front teeth but bite looked level, shallow chin. Oriental eyes of a good depth of blue. Good sized ears fairly well set. Long firm body, long legs, neat paws. Long tapering tail. Short coat, fine textured and almost clear pale ivory with just a dark line down the spine line. Chocolate points on the dark side and rather cold in tone. Very good condition and comfortably presented. Chocolate Point Siamese Neuter Female1st (PC withheld) CARTHY’S ADATEAM SUKI TAMARA (24b) FN 11.04.08Rather small chocolate point female who typewise was not up to the standard required for the award. Eyes rather rounded in shape needing more depth of blue and with an intermittent squint. Fairly good sized ears held too high. Long firm body, long legs, neat paws. Thick tail of balanced length. Large wide based very well set ears. Elegant neckline, lengthy svelte body, stood tall on long legs with neat paws and a long tapering tail.
