Saffron Rabey’s show report for the Kentish Cat Society 18th October 2008.
Many thanks to Helen Marriott-Power, Sean Farrell and Sue Barrett for their very kind invitation to judge at the Kentish and allowing me to judge Overall Best in Show Non Pedigree which was a great honour. Many thanks to Edward Barletta for stewarding for me. You did a fantastic job on your first ever stewarding engagement and I really hope you keep it up. I had some fantastic cats and a really hard decision to make for the Best in Show. Many congratulations to all the exhibitors on the presentation of your cats, it really is appreciated and makes such a difference.
Black, White or Black and White SH Neuter Open
1 Mrs J Macoy’s Snowdrop, FN shorthaired white aged 17 months. Simply stunning girl who was sparkling white with gorgeous yellow eyes. She was groomed to perfection and had a lovely friendly temperament. All she wanted to do was stay out of the pen and play, could have happily taken her home!
2 Master T Langley’s Princess Lulah, FN shorthaired black and white aged 1 year 2 months. Very pretty girl with lovely green eyes. Beautiful presentation with sparkling white and very shiny black coat. It is such a shame she wasn’t particularly happy out of her pen but was quite happy to sit in it looking pretty.
3 Mrs J Purland’s Lorna, FN Shorthaired black aged 5 years 6 months. Unfortunately we were not able to get this girl to come out of her pen, she really was not very happy. I could see how ever that she was beautifully groomed and had lovely eyes.
Friendliest Cat or Kitten
1 Mrs P Potter’s Billybean, MN Semi Longhair Black aged 9. What a fabulous boy, he was so very friendly and determined that we weren’t going to pass him by! Most fantastic rich black coat with the brightest yellow eyes. He was groomed to perfection and looked fabulous for almost 10 years of age. Later on in the day he was my choice for Overall Best Non Pedigree and richly deserved it. Congratulations Mrs Potter on being owned by such a fabulous cat.
2 Mrs C Brown’s Luna. FN Shorthaired Black Tortie aged 1 year. Such a sweet, pretty, petite girl. She really loved being out and having a fuss made of her. She was very friendly and a real sweetheart. Well done on her presentation.
Extra 3 Mrs D Richards Kevin The Kountrykat MN Shorthair Ginger and White aged 2 years. What a handsome man! Love the coat, great pattern and again lovely presentation. He was also a really friendly guy.
Extra 3 Mrs J Hyland’s Tabitha. FN Shorthaired Brown Spotted aged 8 years. What a beautiful big girl, lovely eyes, gorgeous smooth silky coat. Another cat that loved a good cuddle. This was a very hard class to judge.
Neuter or Kitten With The Most Appealing Expression
1 Mrs M Howes’ Cheetah, MN Shorthaired Brown Tabby aged 1 year. This boy had the loveliest alert expression. His eyes were so expressive, you could melt into them! Lovely coat, great grooming. A really lovely boy.
2 Mrs C Brown’s Luna.
Neuter or Kitten Judge Would Most Like To Take Home
1 Mrs P Potter’s Duke. MN Shorthair Ginger and white aged 12. What a gorgeous cuddly lad, a real softy and I can’t believe his age! Great personality, lovely grooming and such a gorgeous rich coloured coat with very neat white. I could well imagine him sitting by my fire side but I think I would have some trouble persuading Mrs Potter!
2 Mrs L Lewer’s Sammy. MN Shorthair Ginger and White, aged 7 months. What a gorgeous sweet kitten, lovely pattern to his coat, rich red and sparkling white, lovely presentation. Loved his white ear tips, he is going to grow up into a very handsome boy! Congratulations on Sammy being Best in Show Kitten.
3 Mrs D Richards Kevin The KountryKat.
