MERSEYSIDE CAT CLUB SHOW SATURDAY

6TH JUNE 2009

Judge: Charis White

Many thanks to Donna Stephenson who stewarded for me on the day. She did a great job and handled the cats expertly. She was great company too. Congratulations on your own successes on the day, Donna, and thanks again. I enjoyed your company.

BRITISH IMPERIAL GRAND CHAMPION MALE IGCC –

EDNEY’S GR CH ROCADANNE MR BEAN –

Red Spotted 15/10/07 A really super boy and such a pleasure to see such good type and size to a Red Spotted. He has a big slightly long body standing on medium length legs – hard to believe he is only into his second year with another good year’s maturing to do yet. Super bone to sturdy legs with large firm paws. Lovely broad round masculine head with good space between slightly large ears. Full cheeks add to the strength and maturity. Well opened orange eyes, round in shape. Broad nose, level bite and firm chin – he just narrows slightly at the muzzle. Dense coat is short and quite crisp. There is good contrast between the deeper red spotted pattern and the red ground colour. Good facial markings and necklaces. Nice spots generally with very little linkage, just showing some slight shading down the spinal area. Spotty tummy and leg barring, well ringed tail of good length to balance to his long body.

FEMALE IGCC -

DAVISON’S GR CH ANTIGUASON SILVER ZINNIA –

Black Silver Spotted 17/05/05 Good maturity to this female with a cobby weighty, medium sized body and a fairly round head held on a thick neck. Short stocky legs with neat round paws. Well-spaced ears are just a little open at the base, large round green eyes, broad nose with brick nose leather. Level bite in slightly square muzzle, firm chin. Dense coat is crisp and quite short. The ground colour is pale silver, for perfection the pattern could be denser black – it is a little brindled but still clear and still contrasting to the ground. Good spotting, including the spinal area which is broken into spots. She has pleasing facial markings with lines and stripes on her face, and necklaces on her neck and chest. Well barred legs and spotty tummy. Her tail is a little short for balance and tapers at the tip. She has several black rings, linked by a line running from base to tip. Attractive female.

RES. IGCC – MARTIN’S GR CH ADSETSH BLUE SAFFIRE –

Blue Self 19/09/06 Well grown female with deep body of good weight, good strong legs and well rounded paws. Broad round head is just topped by slightly large ears. Super big round orange eyes. Broad nose and level bite. Slightly tapered muzzle, fairly firm chin. Her coat is a fraction long but dense. The even medium blue just fades a little at the roots. Medium length tail with tapered tip .

BRITISH LILAC ADULT MALE

1ST, CC withheld – JAY’S JANSTAN GOFORIT THEO 01/05/08

Quite a compact male but surprisingly weighty. He has a medium broad deep body and stands on short strong legs with rounded paws. Lovely round head with full cheeks and neat but slightly upright ears. Super round orange eyes with good expression. Broad nose and level bite, slightly shallow chin. The texture to his coat is reasonable and very dense but it is rather too long for the Standard and was my reason for withholding. The colour is a deep shade of lilac, fairly sound but showing quite a degree of fawning throughout, particularly on his tail. Very sweet temperament.

FEMALE

1ST, CC withheld – BEEVERS’ TOPMARX MILADY 23/04/07

Still maturing and she has good balance and weight to a broad deep frame, with good legs and rounded paws. Lovely round head with full cheeks and well spaced but slightly upright ears. Round well opened eyes of good colour. Short broad nose. Her bite is untidy and undershot – my reason for withholding the certificate. Very firm chin. Good short crisp coat, the medium lilac colour is fairly sound. She just has a few ghost rings on a medium length tail which tapers a little at the tip.

BRITISH AOC SILVER TABBY ADULT, MALE

CC, BOB - LEE’S SODACHICATS LAUXING SUEDE – Red Silver 03/08/08

Very young adult who still has plenty of maturing to do and plenty of time to do it. He has a medium frame of depth but which needs to full out, good weight and strong legs with round paws. Broad head tapers to a slightly square muzzle. Reasonable width between slightly flared ears. Eyes could be rounder, I think they may have been slightly sore, the colour almost brown it was so deep. Short broad nose, level bite and firm chin. His coat is dense and crisp, quite short. The ground colour is pale silvery cream with good contrast to the pattern. He has good facial markings and necklaces. The lines run over his head to the butterfly. The spine lines are reasonable and the oyster on his right side is clear, although the left one is rather muddled. Well ringed tail. Nice temperament.

BRITISH RED SPOTTED ADULT

BOB - EDNEY’S GR CH ROCADANNE MR BEAN - male

BRITISH BLACK SILVER SPOTTED ADULT

BOB – DAVISON’S GR CH ANTIGUASON SILVER ZINNIA - female

AC BRITISH COLOURPOINTED ADULT MALE

CNH – WILSON’S KRUZINKAL TO’KAI – Lilac Tabby Colourpointed 03/06/08

I was sorry not to be able to examine this cat properly. He and the female next door were giving each other grief and we did get a partition set up between them which seemed to settle them both down. We tried on several occasions to get him out but he drew blood from me and my concern is always that in that mood, he might get away from us and escape which does not bear thinking of, so we had to leave him alone. We were amazed to see him out later but perhaps the partition had helped him to settle. I hope his next outing is not so traumatic!

FEMALE

1ST, CC withheld – TWENTYMAN & SKOVLUND’S FARLEYWOOD DAISY – Lilac Point 12/06/08

This female did come out but was somewhat reluctant and would not allow a full assessment to be made. Just a youngster and she is still filling out – her body is of good size and depth but it just needs to broaden. Well boned legs and good sized paws. Round head – ears are still rather large for balance until her head broadens. Cheeks are filling out. Oval eyes of fair blue – she has slight nystagmous, confirmed by the Duty Vet. Broad nose and level bite, firm chin. From what we could tell, she has a dense crisp white with good clear lilac points colour and clear magnolia body colour. Medium length tail with rounded tip. Unfortunately we could not assess her properly, and combined with the nystagmous, I did not feel that she was quite up to the Certificate today.

2ND - WILSON’S ALTHALUS STORM – Lilac Point 16/05/08

Medium sized female of fairly good balance but she needs a lot more weight for her age. Perhaps she has been calling? Very broad round head with well spaced ears, just a little open at the base. Eyes are of good blue, fairly round, but she shows quite strong signs of nystagmous – where her pupils are shifting. Short broad nose, level bite and firm chin. The coat is crisp but a little long. The magnolia body colour just shows some tonal shading. Even lilac points on mask and ears, legs and paws and tail.

SELKIRK REX ADULT, MALE

CC, BOB – CREATON & WALKER’S CURLU NATE – Black Longhair 19/04/08

Medium rectangular frame with a level back. He has good depth of body and breadth of chest and he has a good weighty feel to his body. Broad round head with a slight curve to his top of head. Medium sized ears are correctly angled with plenty of internal furnishings. Lovely big round eyes, well opened and expressive. Short broad nose with downward slant, level bite in fairly square muzzle. Firm chin. His coat is just starting to moult out in places – giving it a slightly shorter length around his neck, but he is fully covered and there are curls everywhere – the coat is plush and dense, standing out from his body, and the curls are random and unstructured. Medium length tail with rounded tip is well plumed. Lovely temperament and he ran the BOV winner very close indeed in the adult section. A difficult choice.

BRITISH BLACK NEUTER MALE

PC – ANDERSON-CARTER’S PR ROCADANNE BLACKJACK 04/10/07

Large long heavy male who looks his age at the moment. He is developing well and his head is maturing. His cheeks are still filling out and he is still a little narrow at the muzzle. He has slightly upright but well spaced ears and super round deep orange eyes. Medium length broad nose, level bite and firm chin. Slightly long coat has good texture and is jet black to the roots. Balanced tail.

2ND - STONEHOUSE’S ADATESH LIQUORICE 26/05/08

Medium framed cat who has a surprisingly heavy body, short sturdy legs and round paws. Fairly round head with ears which need more width between. Round gold eyes are still showing a hint of a green rim. Short broad nose, level bite, and firm chin. slightly long coat is dense and crisp, the black colour fading at the roots. Tail balances to body.

FEMALE

PC, BOB – JONES’ DOMUSFELIUM CIAO BELLA 10/04/08

Balanced cobby body with good breadth and depth. Full rounded head shows quite strong type, with well spaced neat ears and full cheeks. Lovely expressive round orange eyes. Good profile and level bite. Her coat is dense and crisp and fairly short – the colour a good dense black. nice thick tail with rounded tip.

BRITISH BLACK/CHOCOLATE/LILAC TORTIE & WHITE NEUTER, FEMALE

BOB - MARTIN’S GR CH & GR PR WELLMAR KALEIDOSCOPE

BRITISH BLUE TORTIE & WHITE NEUTER, FEMALE

PC, BOB – JONES’ PR WELLMAR FELICITY FIREFLY 23/10/04

Large framed cat with a long deep body, good sturdy legs and round paws. Round head is topped by rather large ears. Round pale gold eyes. Full cheeks. Broad nose, acceptable bite in rather square muzzle, and firm chin. The coat is crisp but a little flat-lying. The blue areas show some silver tipping and the cream is quite a hot but fairly sound in shade. Good patching generally against correct proportions of white – she has a white muzzle and collar and the white extends down her chest onto her upper tummy. It is then broken by colour before being white again down to her abdomen and she has white on legs and paws. Balanced tail.

BRITISH BI-COLOUR NEUTER, MALE

BOB – HALL’S GR PR CATYKES TONIONE – Blue & White

AC COLOURPOINTED NEUTER, MALE

PC, BOB – WARDLE’S ADATESH BLUE SNOWMAN – Blue Point 23/02/08

Lovely big lad, a real heavyweight – his body is just a little large for his head at the moment as it is still maturing. He has a super broad deep body and he stands on thick legs with firm round paws. Round head is broadening and is topped by neat well set ears. Large round eyes of a reasonable shade of blue. Good profile and level bite. Dense crisp short coat with some tonal shading and evenly matched blue points. Good tail. Lovely temperament.

2ND SIMPSON’S ALTHALUS QUINTANUS WOLF – Red Point 25/05/08

Just a youngster who needs to mature but he has promise and will get there. He is long and rangy but has very good weight. He just needs to broaden. Head still filling out and getting the required roundness. Ears are large for balance as yet. Lovely round eyes of good blue. Good profile and level bite. His coat is a fraction long but of good texture. The body colour of creamy white contrasts with the rich red points colour. Medium length tail with rounded tip.

SELKIRK REX NEUTER, MALE

Well I thought that these boys would have bunting all round their pens and be doing star jumps when I got to them – to celebrate their new status - but what I got was blank stares and backs turned! They were obviously having a bit of a day, as were a number of others around the show hall, and having seen who they were in the catalogue later, they definitely were not showing themselves to their best on the day. A real shame.

PC, BOB – CREATON & WALKER’S CRINKLES JACK FROST – Red Longhair 02/05/07

Good cobby cat with a rectangular body shape and correct muscle tone. Good breadth of body at shoulders and rump. Strong medium legs with firm paws. Broad round head is held on a thick neck. Medium sized ears are broad at the base and are set well apart. The forehead could just be a bit more rounded for perfection. Large round expressive eyes. Short broad nose with downward slant, good well padded ‘rectangular’ shape to muzzle, level bite and firm chin. Super plush semi-long coat stands out from his body and covers it well, with random loose curls. Medium length tail is nicely plumed.

2ND WALKER’S AMAZOLOU MISTER FANTASTIC – Red Smoke Longhair 03/04/07

Another lovely example of the breed. Again he has a powerful rectangular body with well boned legs and large firm paws. Broad round head has full cheeks and medium sized ears are well set and have some curly internal furnishings. Nicely rounded profile and correct slant to nose. Large round well opened eyes. Firm chin. Super soft plush coat of good density, standing out from the body. There are plenty of random curls throughout, particularly around his neck and chest. Well plumed tail. This cat is a worthy winner and I was sorry that he did not allow us to examine him properly on the day. He has made a major contribution to the Breed’s progress, and has always had a lovely temperament so I hope that he gets over this unsettled period and goes on to win the titles he deserves.

3RD WALKER’S AMAZOLOU THE NEW SCHMOO – Red Tipped Shorthair 13/04/08

This boy is still maturing and he has good weight and a long deep body but it has yet to broaden and get the rectangular look. He has good bone to legs and paws. Very round head with well set medium ears. Fairly full cheeks and large round expressive eyes. Medium length broad nose. His muzzle has yet to achieve the padded rectangular appearance typical of the breed. Firm chin. Curly and broken whiskers. Short plush coat covers his body well and he has good evidence of the rex gene developing – the red tipping is more obvious now that he is older. Medium length tail with rounded tip and thick base has some curls evident.

AV ORIENTAL IMPERIAL GRAND PREMIER MALE

IGPC – LUND’S GR PR SMAUG TY – Red Silver Shaded 28/02/07

Lovely well grown muscular male with a long firm elegant body, long slim legs and oval paws. Lovely triangular wedge, held on an elegant neck, with large ears which are well set to follow the lines. Oriental shaped eyes slant towards his nose – the colour between green and hazel. Fairly straight profile, level bite and firm chin. Short fine coat lies close to his body, with good shades of red extending down the hair shafts from the surface of the coat on a clear red silver under-colour. The coat is free from any tabby markings on the body. Acceptable darker red shading runs along the spine line and there are some tabby markings on the extremities. A lovely boy in excellent condition.

FEMALE

1ST, IGPC Withheld – ROWE’S GR PR FOXYPAWS SUA LAI - Blue Shaded 20/08/05

Medium framed long bodied female with pleasing muscle tone and a good firm feel to her. She has long slim legs and oval paws. Long tapered tail balances to her body. Good triangular wedge shows excellent type with large ears following the lines and good green eyes of Oriental shape. Good profile and level gums! Firm chin. Short fine coat lies close to her body. The shading is medium blue but it extends too far down the hair shafts, not just on the spinal area where it is acceptable but along her sides in particular, which detracts from overall impression, and she still has some clear tabby markings on her lower body. I just felt that these details meant that she was not quite up to the level of Imperial Certificate on the day.

2ND LEE’S SODACHICATS DILLY DOLLY – British Blue female 27/07/08

Young female who has yet to mature. Her ears are a little big for balance to her head and she still has a hint of a green rim to her gold eyes. Her coat is a little long and soft, the blue has some silvery tipping and fades at the roots.

3RD WILSON’S KRUZINKAL TO’KAI – British Lilac Tabby Colourpointed male

AC BRITISH KITTEN, 3-6 MNTHS

1ST EDNEY’S ROCADANNE MAMMA MIA – British Tortie Tabby female 08/02/09

Super kitten with a neat balanced body and good bone developing. She has a round head with well set ears. Cheeks still filling out. Super deep, deep copper brown eyes. Good profile and level bite. Chin firming. Her coat is short and dense, with clear tabby pattern of facial markings , necklaces on her chest and neck and stripes and lines on her face. The lines run back to the butterfly and she has clear oysters and spine lines running down to her tail. Legs are well barred and she has a spotty tummy. Well ringed tail. The ground colour shows some light brindling in places but the pattern is clearly overlaid with shades of red, mingled and patched. A very attractive kitten. Sweet with it!

2ND BERRY’S MAWBRITZ DYLANSON – British Cream Tabby Colourpointed male 08/02/09

An attractive and promising kitten with good type and well balanced body developing. Pleasing colours to his coat. Unfortunately he has quite a definite tail kink close to the tip of his tail.

AC ORIENTAL DEBUTANTE NEUTER

1ST ANDERSON’S FIORDILISO EARL GREY – Oriental Blue Shorthair male 21/06/08

Large muscular male with good legs and oval paws, and a long tapered tail. Good triangular wedge – ears could just use a little more width between for best set. Oriental shaped eyes of green slant towards a nose with a straight profile, level bite, and chin lines up. Super coat, short, fine close-lying and sound medium blue. Stylish cat.
