MERSEYSIDE CAT CLUB SHOW 6TH JUNE 2009
JUDGES REPORT MS JANE E ALLEN
Thanks to Jennifer and all concerned for my invitation to judge at this lovely show again this year. It is one of my favourite shows! I was also very fortunate to persuade Ross Davies that he needed a day in the slightly more fluffy sections of the fancy – an experience I enjoyed greatly and I hope that he did too!!!
SELF PERSIAN CHAMPION MALE
GR CC STEPHENSONS GR CH WESTHOLME MISSING LINK 70 1Mature 2 year old exotic with super head and type. Very balanced expression with wide head and skull with neat ears set well apart. Large, round eyes of good sound orange colour, resembling headlights on a dark road! Short nose with wide cheeks and a good bite and depth of chin. He had a fairly cobby frame with nicely boned limbs. Short rounded tail. He was moulting but still retained quite a dense, upstanding coat that was well groomed and quite a sound black considering the time of year.
Cheeky lad to put back!!!
RESERVE WITHHELD
2ND HUTCHINSONS CH HERRARARESIAH BUTTERBALL 5Sorry to withhold the reserve but for me this male just did not look that part on the day. Acceptable top of head, for me his ears were a little obvious on the day. Almost round eyes with acceptable orange colour. Short nose with full cheeks. A little undershot and he was tipping his tongue but it was possible for him to close his mouth. His coat was very unsound indeed and generally he needed more show preparation.
SELF PERSIAN CHAMPION FEMALE
GR CC ROGERS CH MILNUSS ELLIEANNA 70 1I was pleased to hear that this young lady was made up to grand with this certificate. This lady did have good facial balance with all the desired features, I would just have liked her head to have been a bit bigger overall to balance her body better. Cobby frame that was very well covered, stocky limbs and a short, rounded tail. She too was moulting for England but still retained quite a good coat texture and colour.
BLUE/LILAC TORTIE AND WHITE ADULT
1 CC WITHHELD FARSON AND JONES COMMODORES TRUELOVE ONOTORIETYI thought this little girl for 21/2 was far too small and lightweight, however I really liked her type and balance. If she could put on weight it would be a totally different story as she is indeed very nice.
AC BI COLOUR ADULT MALE
1 CC BOB CASES GEMKIN JAZZY JASPER 12a5Only just 9 months of age but such a lovely type and balance on this exhibit. Really broad top of head with super skull shape. Tiny rounded ears set low on the skull. Huge round eyes of lovely copper colouring. Short broad nose with good size leather and nostrils. Wide, sweeping cheeks. Undershot jaw but within acceptable limits. Lovely body with excellent boning to his stocky limbs. Short, full tail. Carrying mainly red colouring to his back, with white to his face, bib tummy and limbs. Very well shown and a great lad to handle.
2 HIGGINS ALINDAS BAM BAM 12a1This lad is one year old and still not that mature as yet. Impressive size and substance and managing to retain good coat length and condition for the time of year. Nice top of head developing with very neat ears set well onto his smooth skull. Mid orange eyes that he had a tendancy to hold just slightly closed, giving the allusion of them being not completely round- but out of the pen and with a little persuasion he does open them well and they are completely round. Short, broad nose surrounded by wide sweeping cheeks, nice bite and good depth of chin. Cobby frame with good boning and a short, full (black in colour) tail. Three small spots of black on his legs and with a very wide white inverted chevron to his head. The rest of his coat was very nicely groomed and sparkling white.
3 HACKING BALOOBOO JUSTAN ILLUSION 12a1Ten months old and still very much a baby, I loved his size and condition. He does have good head and facial balance but for me needs more time to develop. He was mainly black in colour with a small amount on his face, bib, tummy and limbs. Quite a good width of head with his ears settling well into the contours. Round eyes of adequate size. Broad nose with large leather and nostrils. Wide cheeks. Bite acceptable and nice depth of chin. Massive body and lovely short, chunky legs. Short, full tail. Full marks for grooming the black was dense and of lovely texture and condition. He was extremely nervous which did not help show himself to his total advantage, I hope with more exposure he can overcome this.
4 FARSON AND JONES COMMODORES DUSTY OF NOTORIETY 12a1
AOC SELF COLOURPOINT ADULT
1 CC WITHHELD WATKINS MOWGRAINE CHELSEY13B3Only ten months old but she needs to develop more fullness in her lower face to achieve the desired roundness of the Persian face. Quite a nice top of head with her ears rather upright as yet. Pale blue eyes. Quite a short nose but her cheeks and jaw need to broaden. Small frame with short legs and tail. Scissor bite. Her coat was rather short, particularly on her lower back where it was dark and considerably shorter than the rest of her body. Points colouring still developing as to be expected with the chocolate colouring and her age, but she needs far more time to really bring herself into full balance.
EXOTIC SHORTHAIR SELF ADULT MALE
1 CC WITHHELD TYRRELLS ONNYDALE AMZENIBUFFALOBILL 70 3Sorry to withhold on this young man and I did check with the duty vet who sadly confirmed that he has a tail fault.
EXOTIC SHORTHAIR SELF ADULT FEMALE

BOB GR CH WESTHOLME MISSING LINK
RED, CREAM TORTIE ETC SMOKE NEUTER
1 PR BOB BRIDGES GR PR HIGHSPOT GELLIBABY 6fOne of my very favourite girls, looking very impressive today and I was really delighted to see her contrasts looking very distinct and impressive. Well shown.
SEAL POINT BIRMAN KITTEN
1BOB JONES DOMUSFELIUM AMORE MIO 4/2/09An eye catching exhibit with lovely personality. Broad, rounded head with broad, rounded skull shape. Medium sized ears that were well spaced apart. Almost round eyes that were a lovely deep blue colour already. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Full cheeks with quite a strong muzzle, she was teething but the bite was level and her chin was strong. Very nice large body for her age with substantial medium length limbs with short strong paws. Bushy, medium length tail that balanced her body nicely. Her coat was in wonderful condition, silky in texture with her ruff and length developing. Her body colouring was a lovely clear beige with a hint of the golden hue across her shoulders. Her points colouring was developing, with a promising seal brown to her mask and ears, her tail and legs were a paler tone. Her gloves were slightly low, not quite reaching to the angle formed by the paw and leg, her right glove was also slightly scalloped. Her back paws had pure white socks covering the whole paw and her gauntlets were even, tapering up the back of her legs reaching ¾ way up the point of hock. A very confident kitten in super condition and a real pleasure to judge.
RED, CREAM TORTIE GROUP BIRMAN KITTEN
1, BOB WITHHELD DALTEEMA FIREFOX 13c5 23/2/09This young man had very promising features and a personality to match! Very pleasing head with broad, rounded strong skull. Wide, full cheeks and his muzzle developing well. Medium sized ears that were set well apart. Almost round eyes that were a lovely deep blue in colour, I would have preferred them to have been slightly wider apart. Medium length nose with slight dip to profile. Very nicely proportioned long body with medium length thick set legs. Short, strong paws. Bushy tail developing that was medium in length. His points colouring was nicely developed on his mask and ears, his legs and tail being a little paler. The coat was very well shown and silky in texture. Length yet to develop but showing signs of a ruff developing. His front white gloves were slightly scalloped and not quite reaching to the angle of the paw and leg. His white socks on his back paws covered the entire paws but sadly from what I could assess of his gauntlets they were very short only just slightly extending from the paw and this was my only reason for withholding the BOB from this otherwise very nice kitten.
TABBY/TORTIE TABBY BIRMAN KITTEN
1 BOB BAXTERS ELMARLAY BABBLING BROOKE 13c20 3/2/09Very sweet kitten who was well grown for her 17 weeks. Promising round head and skull. Her ears were slightly large and just a little high on her skull at present. Almost round eyes that were a sound blue in colour. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Full cheeks, round and tapering to a developing muzzle. She was teething and her chin was of reasonable strength. Long body developing with a bushy medium length tail. Her kitten coat was developing a nice silky feel to it. Pleasing magnolia body colouring. Her legs were medium in length with quite nice substance and with round paws. Her points colouring was very delicate and still developing but I could detect faint tabby markings on beige agouti background with some tones of cream on her mask and thumb prints on her ears. Her leg colouring was not as well defined but I could just detect the white on both her front paws in a line across the paw where the paw and leg meet. Her back paws were very difficult to assess but I considered that she had white socks and the gauntlets were just visible half way up her back legs and very slightly tapering. Very well shown young lady.
2 BROWNS DALTEEMA AMETHYST 13c14 27/1/09I actually preferred the head type on this exhibit but it was her front feet markings that had to determine my placings.
Very nice head type with a good strong skull that was broad and rounded. Medium sized ears that were placed well apart on her skull. Almost round eyes that were a promising blue for her age. Medium length nose with a slight dip in profile. Cheeks quite full and tapering to a nicely developing muzzle and chin. She was teething at the present time. Long body with good substance, nicely boned medium length legs with strong rounded paws. Her tail was medium in length and already quite bushy. Her kitten coat was silky in texture and developing some length around the ruff and body. It was a lovely magnolia tone in colour. Her points colouring was very delicate and quite hard to assess but I would see faint tabby patterning on her mask along with spotted whisker pads and thumb prints on her ears. Her legs were even paler but I could detect that the front paws had white gloves that were to the angle of the paw and leg but sadly the white extended past the stopper pad on the right, the left leg it appeared to stop at the stopper pad. At the current time it was not possible to fully assess the back paw markings. As I stated at the beginning of my critique this was the reason for my placings as otherwise Amethyst was a very promising and self assured kitten.
BROWN/BLUE TABBY WITH/WITHOUT WHITE MAINE COON KITTEN MALE
1 CROOKS ELMCOON ANGUS OF BEARDWOOD 64 41w 25/10/08Very well grown seven month old kitten who was just a little worried about the whole show thing! Developing quite good width to his head with high cheek bones. Promising length to width balance. Large well furnished ears that he was holding a little low, but this could well have been his nerves on the day. Expressive eyes that were large and slightly obliquely set. Shallow concave curve in profile with quite a nice perpendicular line to the chin. I would like to see a little more squareness to his profile as he matures further. Long body and tail with nice length of coat developing on the breeches and the ruff. Classic tabby patterning that for perfection would have benefitted from just a little more final finish to do him justice.
BROWN/BLUE TABBY WITH/WITHOUT WHITE MAINE COON KITTEN FEMALE a very nice class of girls!
1 BOB LISTERS COONARIA SANDPAPER KISSES 64 41w 10/12/09A very stylish girl with super size and substance. Large well tufted ears placed nice and high on her skull but with the desired distance between them. High cheeks with very good width developing. Pleasing facial balance. Shallow concave curve in profile with lovely perpendicular line to the chin that was also well developed. Super square muzzle. Long body and tail with a very nice ruff and shaggy breeches. Well furnished long tail. Her coat was classic tabby patterning and so well shown. Handled nicely and overall was a most impressive kitten.
2 GARLANDS LUNANS PORTOBELLO BELLE 64/41 25/10/08Another very pleasing young lady, just needing a little more general width to her head to balance out her features further. Large, high held ears that were very nicely tufted and a reasonable width between. Expressive large eyes that were well spaced and nicely set. Shallow concave curve in profile decent line to the chin. Good squareness to her muzzle. Very nice length to her body and super long tail that was nicely furnished. Her coat was very well shown and had the desired ruff developing and shaggy breeches. Just a little solid on her back but when that breaks again good clarity of patterning.
3 GREGSONS JULESCOON CHILLI 64 41 9/11/08This lady was just a little shorter in the head than the other two. Reasonable sized ears set quite high on her head and with width between. I would have also preferred her cheek bones to have been a little higher. Expressive large eyes that were slightly obliquely set. Quite a considerable curve to her nose in profile but with nice line to her chin. Long body and tail balances well. Very well shown, again her stage of pattern development meant that her back was on the solid side. Nice to handle and very well grown.
SILVER TABBY SERIES MAIN COON NEUTER
1 PR BOB BURGESSES PURDYSTON FIGARO 64 41ds 25/6/07Very gentle giant of a boy with such a gorgeous temperament! Nice head shape and balance with large, well tufted ears, set quite high on his head and nicely furnished. Expressive pale hazel eyes that were large, round and slightly obliquely set. Uniform width nose with a shallow concave curve to profile and nice perpendicular line to chin. Quite a nice square muzzle. Large, well filled body long in shape with significant limbs and round, strong paws. Long, well furnished tail to finish! Very well shown coat that was a little short due to time of year. Nicely textured and with good clarity of patterning and nice silver undercoat.
AC DEBUTANTE PERSIAN CAT
1 GEMKIN JAZZY JASPER
2 MILLICANS CULLYKHAN HONEY PIE 12/1The most delightful young girl, with super head and facial balance, her eye colour just not as strong as Jasper which was my only deciding factor between these two top quality youngsters. She has wonderful patching on a high white coat colouring and was groomed to the last hair.
3 COMMODORES DUSTY OF NOTORIETY
AC LIMIT PERSIAN CAT
1 GRAYS ONNYDALE DREAMLOVER 70 8Most attractive male with super head balance – wide expression with well set neat ears, round nicely coloured eyes. Short nose with wide cheeks and a good bite and chin. Quite a cobby frame with substantial limbs and a short, rounded tail. Quite a thick dense coat for the time of year that stood away well. Nicely groomed and handled so well. Congrats on his best Persian adult!
2 STEPHENSONS WESTHOLME ROCKNROLL 4A very pleasing young man with super type and balance. Nicely coloured mid red coat colouring, he just needs a little more time to mature.
3 WILDS APATCHICAT WILD CARD 70 8
AC PERSIAN KITTEN 3 – 6 MONTHS
1 ROGERS HIJRAH HEAVEN SENT 13Very pleasing young girl with nicely balanced head and type, her teeth still to settle fully. I appreciate her coat that was nicely mingled and pastel in tone. She was groomed so well and went best Persian kitten to finish off her day!
AV RADIUS SLH CAT
1 PORTERS NOYNAROCK SIGNYSVALRDATTER 67 20 1 year 2 weeksVery nice triangular head shape with the length just a little longer than equilateral. Long straight profile with nice rise at forehead and firm chin. Large oval eyes that were nicely opened and expressive. Large well set ears with great width at the base and following the lines of her head. Long body and super length of tail. Nicely boned legs with round, tufted paws. Her hind legs just a little longer than the fore limbs. Double coat that was in good condition, woolly undercoat with a glossy, harsh top coat. Her tail was nice and bushy reaching to her shoulders. Very well shown but I would like her to be bigger, she is still quite young so I hope that she continues to develop.
2 GRIFFITHS AND SCOTT RAGTASIA SUMMER BREEZE 66/31aA very pleasing young ragdoll, however I did think that her percentage of white was rather generous hence my placing.
AV JUNIOR SLH NEUTER
1 FEARNLEYS COONARIA FIRESTORM 64/41dA very lovely neuter who I have reported on several times recently. He has very pleasing Maine Coon type and expression with large, high placed ears with nice tufts and tips. Well set and with width between them. Expressive slightly oriental set eyes that are large and well opened. Shallow concave curve to his nose in profile and a lovely perpendicular line to his chin. Vry nice squareness to his muzzle. Considerable frame that was long and deep. Long well boned limbs with round, strong paws. Long tail that was well furnished. His coat was well shown and in summer mode on the day but a very pleasing overall exhibit.

Medium length nose with slight retrousse tip in profile. Long well developed body with broad chest. Medium length legs with large paws. Long bushy tail balancing his frame.
