NORTH WEST CAT CLUB – 27.9.2008 – MRS ANNE GREGORY

A very relaxed and friendly show; I would like to thank Lesley, Jenny and the team for a very enjoyable time in Altrincham. I am also very grateful to my excellent steward, Melanie Swale; I hope she enjoyed her debut and meeting all the cats across the breeds. I look forward to another day working together.

ORIGINAL FOREIGN SH CHAMPION, MALE

1 GCC EDWARDS’ CH KOORAHK PEE SAKORN, 34, M, 10.1.2007

A young male who was very “together” and balanced. He was of medium size but firm, muscular and lithe. The head really was heart shaped with breadth between the eyes and then curved to a well developed rounded muzzle. The ears were large, flared at the base and rounded at the tip. They were set high and he did have an alert, intelligent look. Large, flat forehead. The nose was short with a slight downward curve. Slight stop. Large eyes that were a lovely green and very expressive. They were well rounded. Strong, muscular body of medium size with moderate bone structure and legs and tail in proportion. Single coat of medium length that was glossy, fine and close-lying. Lovely blue with silver tipping giving a particularly attractive sheen. Excellent condition and a friendly, talkative temperament.

RES WILSON’S CH BOUNTIFUL GOLLUM, 33a 16, M, 4.1.2006

A handsome, muscular Devon. I felt the head was marginally long for the breadth. However the ears were large, very wide at the base, rounded at the tips and set wide apart and fairly low. I would like a little more width at the cheeks but he had a good whisker break and a strong muzzle. In profile there was a definite stop although the nose was a trifle long. Excellent eyes, wide set, large, oval, sloping to the outer edge of the ear and very expressive. Slender neck. Excellent body, legs and tail. Lovely coat, it was short, dense and soft with deep waves and ripples. Apart from the head length, he was a very good example of the breed and well worthy of the Reserve Grand.

ORIGINAL FOREIGN SH CHAMPION, FEMALE

1 (GCC N/A) BRYNES, CH BOUNTIFUL TROUBLEHEAD, 33A36E, F, 14.6.2007

A sweet female with a short, broad wedge but her overall balance and elegance was spoiled by a very short tail. Lovely high cheek bones and a strong muzzle with a whisker break and a firm chin. Large ears, very wide at the base and set low. They tapered to rounded tips. Expressive, large, oval eyes with a slant to the outer ear. In profile she lacked a definite stop but the chin was firm. Slender neck and elegant head carriage. Lovely body and legs but that tail just put everything out of balance. She did have rexing. I liked her (apart from the tail!) and would have given her a CC but not a Grand.

2 STARK’S CH DUSHENKA TASHABELLA, 16A, F, 17.12.2005

I felt this Russian just did not have the “look” for me. The ears were held wide which spoiled the overall head balance. They were large and reasonably pointed, were wide at the base but set more at “five minutes to one” rather than vertically. Short wedge but her whisker pads were not sufficiently prominent to give the broad finish. Almond eyes set well apart and a good green. In profile, the forehead was straight to the level of the upper edge of the eye but then there was too much of a curve to the profile. Good chin. Long, graceful body with a firm, muscular feel to her. Long legs with dainty oval paws. Good tail that tapered to a rounded tip. Lovely coat quality, it was double with a reasonably dense undercoat and with a soft, fine texture. Medium blue with a silvery sheen. Excellent condition and temperament.

TORTIE OR CHOCOLATE TORTIE & WHITE KITTEN

1 + BOB THORNBURN’S ALINDAS TUPPENCE HA’PENNY, 12 1, F, 22.3.2008

A very pretty and promising kitten who was beautifully presented. The head was round with breadth of skull and well balanced. Small ears, well furnished, set wide apart and low; they fitted well into the contours of the head. Full cheeks. In profile, the forehead was rounded and she had a short, nose with a stop. The nose was broad and she had a full leather. Full muzzle with breadth at the jaws. Level bite. Excellent eyes, large, full and round. They were set well apart and a very promising copper tone developing. Bold, confident expression. Cobby body that was well muscled. She stood low on sturdy legs with large, round, tufted paws. Short, bushy tail that balanced well. Excellent coat quality, it was long and thick, soft, fine and really full of life. She had both colours and white on the face. There were small, discreet patches of both colours on the body . Small patches of both colours on the legs and a fully coloured tail. The red is a rich, even tone already and the black was jet and virtually sound. Excellent condition and temperament.

2 HUTCHINSON’S ADATELO TALLY TAO, 12 1, F, 26.3.2008

Fair type and balance. The head lacked breadth, particularly at the cheeks and jaw. There was a slight “crown” on the head, between the ears which I hope may sort itself as she develops. The ears are slightly large at present and appear prominent. They were rounded at the tips and well furnished. Short, broad nose with a stop. Full leather and nostrils. The bite was marginally undershot. The eyes were large, reasonably round but I would prefer a bolder expression. At present the colour is very “muddy”. Good body, legs and tail, she was cobby and muscular. At present she has very much a “baby” coat that was of medium length and thick but lacked presentation. There was minimal white to the face, just the narrowest moustache. White underparts. The back and legs were patched but the red was pale and much of the black was “pepper & salt” and shady. The overall effect was rather untidy. Sweet temperament and in excellent condition.

BLUE OR LILAC TORTIE & WHITE KITTEN

1 + BOB COOK’S LAFREBELLA JANIERO, 12 2, F, 30.3.2008

A very attractive and balanced kitten of excellent type. Round head showing breadth to the skull and width at the full cheeks and muzzle. Excellent eyes that were large, round, very expressive and bold. Rounded forehead and short, broad nose with a full leather and nostrils. She was teething but the mouth could close and the bite was then level. Firm chin. Lovely size to the cobby body with a firm, muscular feel to her. Short, thick legs with large, round, tufted paws. Short, bushy tail to balance. Long, thick coat that was soft, fine and really full of life. Beautifully presented to great advantage. Pale blue patches that were sound and a soft, pale cream that was virtually sound. Immaculate white. White chevron to the face with a cream chin and patches of both colours to the top of the head and shoulders. Discreet patches of blue and cream to the lower back. Both colours on the tail. Patches of both colours on the legs. Excellent condition and temperament.

BRITISH CREAM ADULT

1 CC + BOB SUTTON’S BERGORS MONTE, 17, M, 8.6.2007

A very handsome young male with a wonderfully friendly temperament. The head had breadth with a round face and full cheeks. Neat ears, rounded at the tips and set well apart in the contours of the head. The eyes were large, round and set well apart. Excellent deep orange tone. Short, broad nose. The chin was firm. Cobby body with a solid, muscular feel. He had depth to the chest and stood low on short, strong legs with round paws. Very good thick tail to balance. Lovely coat that was dense and crisp. Good, powdery cream and reasonably clear. Excellent condition. Relaxed, confident and very friendly.

2 PARRISH’S ZINGFRO CRESTAGOLD, 17, M, 18.7.2007

Another promising young male of very good type. The eyes were beautiful! Large, round and an excellent copper tone. The chin sloped away sadly. Very good body, legs and tail. Summer coat that was a little soft but reasonably dense. Hotter cream than the winner and there were some ghost tabby markings. Excellent condition and temperament.

AC SELKIRK REX KITTEN, MALE – A GORGEOUS CLASS!

1 + BOB CREATON & WALKER’S CURLU NATE, 79L 15,M, 19.4.2008

A Selkirk kitten that really had the “Wow” factor” Excellent type and balance overall. The head was round with breadth and balance. Medium ears that were broad at the base and set well apart in the contours of the head. Large, round eyes that were set well apart and very expressive (full of mischief!). Short, broad nose with a downward slant. Full cheeks. Muzzle had width and well padded whisker pads to give the correct rectangular look. Good chin. Cobby body that was rectangular with a level back. Medium length legs with excellent boning. Large, round paws. Excellent coat that was semi-long and unstructured with tousled, random curls all over. It was soft to the touch, really dense and “scrunchy”.

2 AMARILLI’S AMASOLOU THE NEW SCHMOO, 79S 39D, M, 13.4.2008

A very handsome kitten of excellent type and look. Lovely head and large, expressive eyes. In profile, the forehead was rounded and he had a short, broad nose with a downward slant. Full cheeks and a lovely rectangular muzzle with padded whiskers. Large eyes, full and round with an almost innocent expression. Well set ears of medium size. Solid, cobby body with strong legs and a thick tail of medium length to balance. Dense coat that had excellent rexing all over, it was of uniform length. Slightly harsher on the lower back and that, in the end, decided my placings as these were two quality kittens. Wonderfully friendly nature and shown in sparkling condition.

3 NUTTER’ FURKIDS ARTHUR BLACKDRAGON, 79S 31, M, 8.6.2008

I really thought this kitten was an excellent size with substance and muscle tone, he felt just wonderful to handle. The head was of good type with breadth and rounded contours. The medium ears were set well apart. Full cheeks. Large, round eyes that were set well apart. Rounded forehead and short, broad nose with a slant. Good chin. Excellent body, legs and tail. The coat was dense but rather flat and close-lying. It had a healthy gloss but was quite straight on the back and sides. Some coarse hairs on the back. Well rexed around the head and tail. Excellent condition and temperament.

AC SELKIRK REX KITTEN, FEMALE

– lovely kittens – difficult to choose

1 MINSHALL’S ACOZNI TWILITEAMBER, 79S 36E, F, 21.5.2008

A very pretty and feminine kitten with a lovely look to her. Very good breadth of head with rounded contours. Full cheeks and a rectangular muzzle with padded whisker pads. In profile, the forehead was rounded with a short, broad nose that had a tiny bump. Teething and her bite appeared under but settled to be OK. Muscular body with a lovely feel. Very good legs and tail. Excellent coat that was really well curled and waved all over. I felt it was a little dry in texture, but found later she is homozygous and that would account for it. A real sweetie with a lovely personality and shown in sparkling condition.

2 MINSHALL’S ACOZNI SMIKINGEMBERS, 79S 36E, F, 21.5.2008

Litter sister to the winner and ran her very close. Has great promise as lovely type and coat. She was teething like her sister and the bite was marginally under but the teeth met. Excellent eyes that were very expressive. Firm and muscular with very good body type and substance. Dense coat with lovely curls and waves all over. Excellent condition and temperament.

3 AMARILLI’S AMAZOLOU TING TINGS, 79L 75, F, 18.6.2008

My notes on this baby say, “Scrummy!” She was a lovely weight and substance for her size and has a great deal of potential. Her head is developing well with lovely large, round eyes and an open, innocent expression. Full cheeks. Muzzle developing well. Very good body, legs and tail. Her coat had a lovely tousled texture with unstructured waves and curls all over. I think she is going to be one of those “watch this space” kittens as she is very promising and appealing.

BRITISH BI-COLOURED NEUTER

HALL’S GR PR CATYKES TONIONE, 31A, MN, 17.9.2006

A handsome cat of very good type, his coat was a little soft but dense and a lovely soft blue with immaculate white.

AC COLOURPOINTED BRITISH NEUTER

I was not able to assess exhibit 218 for BOB, he was very cross and I did not want to push the issue.

1 PR + BOB BLATHERWICK’S ADVISH ARRAMINTO, 40 3, MN, 26.7.2006

A cobby, strong, muscular cat of good type. The head was well rounded with breadth of skull. Round face and full cheeks. Small ears, rounded at the tips were set well apart in the contours of the head. Full cheeks. Short, broad nose and good chin. The eyes were large, round and set well apart. Pale blue. Very good body, legs and tail. Short coat that was dense and had a crisp texture. Very dark points that were Bourneville rather than Milk Tray! Shady body. Shy but sweet natured and shown in lovely condition.

SELKIRK REX NEUTER

1 IC + BOB AMARILLI’S TRUEBLU JETRANGER, 79L 75, MN, 1.6.2005

A very handsome and balanced Selkirk of very good type, conformation and style. Broad head with rounded contours, full cheeks and rectangular muzzle. Rounded forehead and very good profile. Firm chin. Medium ears, set well apart in the contours of the head. Excellent eyes, full, round and very expressive. Rectangular body with a solid, muscular feel and substantial boning to the medium legs. Tail balanced well. Lovely coat that was dense, tousled, well waved and that soft texture that is so good to “scrunch”! Slightly straighter along the spine but otherwise very good indeed. Relaxed and a great pleasure to judge. Excellent condition.

Another quality Selkirk with type and style. Very good head for breadth and balance. Rounded contours with full cheeks and a firm, rectangular muzzle. Well placed ears of medium size. Expressive eyes that were full and round. Very good rounded forehead and profile. Chin strong. Bite scissored. Excellent body, legs and tail. Summer coat that is on its way back! Elegant, handsome and balanced Lilac with very good type and style. Long wedge with width to balance. Large ears, set well apart. Very good profile and firm chin. ORIENTAL SHADED NEUTER

BOB LUND’S PR SMAUG TY, 43DS, MN, 28.2.2007

A very pleasing, elegant cat who was an excellent example of a red silver shaded. Olive green eyes, but the hall light was not good for eye colour. Short, fine coat that was close-lying and glossy. Excellent condition and temperament.
