South Western Counties Cat Club ShowSaturday 27th September 2008Judge: Mrs Anne-Marie HeathMany thanks to Eileen Fryer and her team for inviting me to judge at this friendly show. I had a most enjoyable day and managed to overcome the nerves at this, my first Burmese judging engagement. I was blessed to have the capable assistance of Colin Stone whose stewarding experience is first class and whose patience knows no bounds. Thank you so much Colin for helping me on such a busy day: I hope you enjoyed handling all the beautiful entries as much as I did. I hope the exhibitors were not too disappointed that the original judges were unable to attend and would add that every exhibit we handled was in superb show condition. Brown Burmese Kitten: 3 females entered.1 BOB Truscott’s JANAGAR EBONYS CHARM (5.05.2008)This beautiful girl of almost five months and in tip top condition purred and wriggled her way through the proceedings. Gently rounded top of head between correctly shaped well placed ears. Very short wide wedge with, in profile, rounded brow and deep skull. Defined break with straight nose and fractionally receding chin of excellent depth. Acceptable bite at this early stage. Her lustrous large yellow chartreuse eyes are well spaced and display typical Burmese expression. Firm refined body with elegant limbs and neat oval paws. Well shaped tail of good length. Rich seal coat has a lovely silky texture and lies very well with a good sheen. This promising inquisitive kitten showed herself well at this tender age and was a joy to handle. 2 Riddle’s CATAMARIAN BACCARAT (2.04.2008)Very well grown alert young girl of almost six months in excellent condition. Gently rounded top of head with correctly shaped well placed ears showing a slight forward tilt. Short wide wedge with, in profile, rounded brow and good depth of skull. Definite break, virtually straight nose and very good depth of chin which recedes slightly at this stage. Acceptably shaped chartreuse eyes could be a little larger and more widely spaced for perfection. Level bite. Firm muscular body with elegant slender limbs and oval paws. Tail reaches shoulder with ease and is correctly shaped. Silky coat lies well and colour is still developing. This lovely friendly girl was calm throughout our handling and showed herself very well. 3 Grantham’s GREENPARK DELILAH DEE (4.03.2008)Dainty six month old girl with a feisty inquisitive nature and shown in excellent condition. Gently rounded top of head between well shaped and placed ears. Correct blunt wedge and, in profile, rounded brow and good depth of skull. Reasonable break with nose showing slight bump at this stage. Chin could be deeper and is not quite level at present. Bite almost level. Well spaced yellow chartreuse eyes of acceptable shape and good Burmese expression. Well filled body with slender proportionate limbs and neat oval paws. Rich seal brown, clear coat has a satin-like texture and lies very well. Unfortunately this stylish, promising kitten has a defect on a vertebrae near the end of her tail causing a very subtle bend which may well be due to an unseen accident rather than a birth defect. She handled very well and was very investigative and engaging. AC Burmese Breeders Adult: 7 cats present:1 Matthews’ GR.CH.
