NATIONAL CAT CLUB SHOW

2008

JUDGE: Carol Ward

Many thanks and congratulations to Carol and Ron for a very successful Show in its new venue. It was a pleasure once again to be asked to judge at this Show which is so important in the show calendar. I had a very pleasant day and was very ably assisted by my steward Jane Haggar, whose company I always enjoy and who did such a good job of handling some tetchy cats who might have put off a less confident steward. Many thanks Jane.

HAVANA ADULT FEMALE

1st CC & BOB W/H Sharp-Popple’s DENSON LOUISIANA. 31.08.07.

A rather adolescent looking and dainty young lady who needs to grow a little to do herself justice in an adult class. Long bodied and with a tail that could do with another couple of inches, tall limbs and neat feet Medium wedge with a muzzle pinch, virtually straight profile, chin falls back a little and bite does not quite meet. Ears well placed but could be marginally large for perfect balance and lovely bright green eyes of good set and shape. Warm Havana coat showing some distinct tabby ghost markings on her sides and some white hairs under her chin and on her neck. The coat not quite sound to the roots in some places, but otherwise of fine, short texture.

ORIENTAL BLACK ADULT

1st CC N/A Davidge-Evans’ SATIVA BLACK DIAMOND .F. 1 yr. 3 ms.

A smallish girl with elegant limbs and a tail that lacked a little length for balance. Medium wedge, profile flattens a little on her forehead, deep chin and level bite. Tiny little goatee beard. Good green eyes of pleasing set and shape when she relaxes, ears could be a touch larger, but are well placed. Coat a little grey at the roots, but of good length and texture. Not quite up to standard on the day.

BOB to Moss’ IGR CH MYDAMYST IVGOTYOUBABE F. 4yrs 6ms.

A large and very stylish lady with a very elegant body and a superb head with large and flaring ears beautifully placed, excellent top of head, superb clear green eyes of lovely set, shape and a typical haughty expression. Her profile flattens marginally over her brow, good firm chin and level bite. Sound, fine and short black coat with a little dandruff present on the day and the coat texture a fraction course down the spine line. She looked as if someone else’s kitten may have been suckling from her.

ORIENTAL SPOTTED TABBY ADULT

1st CC & BOB Partridge’s CH. NUTROSTAR RINESTONE COWBOY M. 37d M Red OST. 1yr. 2ms.

A very large and strong built young male of substance and overall good, though not exaggerated type and with a very strong and masculine head. Good profile, chin and bite. His ears could do with being fractionally large to balance his very strong head but are well placed and open at the base. Lovely green eyes, unusually for a red and of good set and shape. Bright red coat with well separated round spots with no linkages and sound in colour to the roots. There is the beginning of some agouti invasion now as he matures, but at present it is acceptable. Good broken spine line, well defined tail rings, leg marking to his paws and lovely double facial ribbons. A dear boy who was just a little grumpy at being in a show pen.

2nd Chivers’ PLATON ATLANT SAHMET (38) Brown OST. M. 4yrs. 5ms.

A good sized boy of substance with strong legs and feet and a good length rather thick tail. Medium wedge, straight profile, firm chin and bite very untidy. Good sized ears, well placed, lovely green eyes of good set and shape. Coat short and fine textured, showing both separated and linked spots heavily invaded with agouti hairs; the pattern sitting on a cold grey ground colour and grey at the roots. Some tarnishing on his face, legs and feet. The colour in the pattern penetrating well down the hair shaft.

AC LONGHAIR ADULT

1st CC N/A Taylor’s GR. CH. PIPPASTRO SILMARILIS. (62 43s) Black Silver Shaded. F. 3yrs 4 ms.

I was sorry to have to withhold on this lovely elegant girl, but I and the Imperial Class Judge found an amber speck in one eye, which was automatically a withholding fault. A lovely large and strongly built girl of considerable Oriental style and elegance with long legs, strong feet and a long very well plumed tail. Lovely balanced wedge, profile virtually straight, large and beautifully placed ears, deep chin and level bite. Excellently coloured green eyes with unfortunately a pronounced amber fleck in her right eye; the eyes of excellent set and shape. Her coat of excellent flowing, fine textured length with a good surface shading and two-thirds silver undercoat.

ORIENTAL CREAM OR APRICOT NEUTER

1st CC & BOB Baker’s PR. SOLARUS MISTOFFELEES (37fn) MN. 1 yr. 4ms.

A rather cross boy today and therefore minimally handled. A big and strong boy of excellent type and substance with overall Oriental elegance and style. Long bodied, long legs and a good length tail. Medium wedge, straight profile, clear green eyes of excellent set and shape, good sized and well placed ears. Superb warm sandy coloured apricot coat, short and fine textured with typical metallic sheen on his forehead and between his ears. Minimal tabby markings on the body. A very good exhibit who was not best pleased to be in a show pen on the day.

ORIENTAL CINNAMON NEUTER

1st PC & BOB Lowell’s PR. SUSPIRIA WILLIAM BECKFORD. MN. 1yr. 7ms.

A big strong and stately cat of very laid back temperament and lovely to handle. Long legged, strong feet and a tail that could do with another inch or two to balance his large body. Strong and masculine head, good sized and well positioned ears, virtually straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Bright green eyes of pleasing set and shape. Dark cinnamon coat, a fraction long on his back, but short and fine textured elsewhere, sound to the roots with some tabby tracing visible on his face. A very dear boy.

AC ORIENTAL LONGHAIR NEUTER

For BOB only – awarded to Holder’s GR. PR. MYLYNN MAGICNOIR (62 36) MN. Black Smoke. 1yr. 11 ms.

A good sized and strong young boy of lovely type and balance. Rather shy but of gentle temperament. Medium wedge, straight profile, deep chin and level bite. Slight muzzle pinch. Bright green eyes of good set and shape, large and well placed ears. Excellent length, fine, sleek coat with a superb clear silver undercoat to about a half of the hair shaft and evenly smoked through the coat. Good length and well plumed tail.

Ellis’ GR. PR MYLYNN MOONSHADOW (62 20) Brown Tabby. MN. 1 yr. 11 ms.

Another strong and muscular boy of excellent oriental type whose head looked a little small in comparison to his large and strong body. Medium wedge, straight profile, good chin and bite. Lovely clear green eyes of very pleasing set and shape. Large ears, excellently placed. Coat of good length and texture, showing correct warm ground colour, especially on his belly and with separated spots and some linked which penetrate to the skin. A rather solid spine line and with some grey roots in places.
