Supreme Show 22.11.08
Mrs Val Anderson
Many thanks to the Show Committee for the invitation to judge at this prestigious show. Thanks to my hard working team of stewards, Marlene Buckeridge, Gemma Gregson & Rita James for all their help & gentle handling of the cats. Unfortunately due to car problems I was a steward short at the beginning & I am very grateful to Connie Henderson & her friend Janey who came to my rescue and helped out for a while. Thanks to the exhibitors for a splendid entry of Abyssinians and a wonderful range of colours to judge, a real treat.
ABYSSINIAN UK GRAND CHAMPION MALE (BOB only)
HANSELL’S UK & IMP GR CH, INT GR CH NILE AMUN RA (23) 02.03.03
A large, very well-fed boy! Lovely glossy coat. Head a moderate wedge with good width between the ears & gently rounded contours. Good nose break in profile, shallow chin & level bite. Quite large, cupped ears set wide apart. Nice eyes. Well-fed body of medium length & build, limbs to balance & oval paws. Lovely tail with good thickness at the base. Close-lying coat clearly ticked with black on apricot & no grey. Creamy chin, short black hocks, darker spine line. A very easy-going lad with a super temperament. His chin needs a little attention & he needs to watch his waistline but otherwise shown in lovely condition. He came very close to winning the Best of Breed and would have done so had he been slimmer!

Short fine & close-lying coat though a little soft to the touch. Clearly ticked with back on an apricot base. Darker spine line & unmarked chest. Shown in lovely condition with a gentle nature & typical Aby expression. Not showing to his advantage today.
USUAL ABYSSINIAN CHAMPION, FEMALE
1ST & GCC CH KOPERKAT GUINEVERE (23) 11.03.06
A very feminine look to this girl. She was a little nervous & her spine line was raised. Head a moderate wedge with rounded contours. Good nose break in profile, few front teeth remaining though her bite is level. Shallow chin. Large cupped ears set wide apart, pale green eyes of rounded almond shape. Elegant body of medium build with limbs to balance & small oval paws. Tapering tail quite thick at the base. Fine dense coat with black ticking on an apricot base. USUAL ABYSSINIAN PRE-CHAMPION MALE
1ST CC SHAMMAS’S MIKKAR ASHANTI WARRIOR (23) 31.12.07
A very lively boy! Strong & muscular & lovely rich overall colour. A moderate wedge with good width between the ears. Whisker indentation & slightly square muzzle. Large cupped tufted ears & large expressive eyes. Muscular & lithe body, a fraction long with long limbs & oval paws. Tail thick & very slightly tapering. Dense coat, close-lying with black ticking on a rich ruddy base. Darker spine line & black tail tip. Lovely colour to his chin. Difficult to assess as he never stops moving! Though very gentle temperament & shown in lovely condition. Unfortunately he was rather stressed in the ring pen & was returned to his main pen early to avoid upsetting him further.
2ND DESOLLA’S BRUNNBACKEN’S SAMBESI (23) 25.03.07
A very strong & muscular young man of a rich overall colour. Head a broad moderate wedge if a little short. Slight nose break in profile created mainly by a nose bump. Quite large, cupped ears set very wide apart. Lovely green eye colour though his eyes are a touch full. Strong & muscular body of medium build with elegant limbs & oval paws. Tapering tail, thick at the base. Dense, short & close-lying coat though with some dandruff showing. Black ticking on an apricot base. Clear chest, darker spine line & black tail tip. Excellent temperament & lots of character. Lovely condition apart from the dandruff.
3RD MUSPRATT’S FLAMSTONE HADRIAN (23) 05.02.08
A young boy of only 9 months, just an adult & he looks it! He needs to mature & have more width to his head which is a moderate wedge but a little narrow at present. I would prefer more nose break & a stronger chin. Level bite. Cupped ears but they could be larger & they are set a touch close. Large expressive eyes. Elegant body with a straight back & medium build. Elegant limbs & small oval paws. Tapering tail to balance. Close-lying coat with a fine texture. Black ticking on an apricot base. Well-broken but rather heavy necklets. Rich overall colour. Lovely gentle nature & shown in excellent condition. A pleasure to judge.

2ND DARBY’S SILVERSMOKE MIRACLE (23) 04.01.08
A young girl of only 9 months, she needs to mature & muscle up. Head a moderate wedge but it is a touch narrow at present. I would prefer more of a nose break & her chin falls off a little. Level bite. Tall ears, cupped but they could be a little larger. Large expressive eyes. Elegant body of medium length which needs to fill out. Elegant limbs & small oval paws. Long tapering tail to balance. Dense close-lying coat clearly ticked with black on an apricot base. Double but broken necklet. Good colour on the hocks. A lovely girl a little reserved but gentle. Lovely coat & condition.

A feminine girl of a good weight for her size. A moderate wedge, good width between the ears, whisker indentation & slightly square muzzle. Slight nose break & nose bump. Level bite but her chin could be stronger. Her ears could be bigger but are cupped, have tufts & are set well apart. Good eye shape & set. Elegant body of medium build with limbs to balance & small oval paws. Tapering tail that could be a little longer for balance. Close-lying coat with fine texture. Clearly ticked with black on a pale apricot base. Unmarked chest, good colour to chin. She had a little bit of a grumble but was not a problem to handle. An elegant girl shown in lovely condition.

Tapering tail, a little short for balance. Coat fine if a touch soft, close-lying & dense. Black ticking on a pale apricot base. Darker spine line, short hocks, well-broken but double necklets. A gentle girl if a little reserved. Shown in lovely condition.
SORREL ABYSSINIAN CHAMPION, FEMALE
1ST (GCC WITHHELD) MISKELLY’S CH GLENDAVAN SHES ELECTRIC (23a) 22.12.06
A young girl of not quite 2 years but a little lightweight on the day. Head a moderate wedge with gently rounded contours. Slight nose break plus a nose bump in profile. Very strong chin and level bite. Quite large cupped ears set wide apart & large greeny-coloured eyes. Elegant body but a little lean on the haunches at present. Straight back & elegant neck. Slender limbs & oval paws, tapering tail to balance. Rich overall colour but coat a little long & the ticking could be more distinct. Coat very dense but soft to the touch. A sweet girl but certificate withheld because of the coat length & texture & lack of muscle tone. Sorry!

Tail long & tapering, good thickness at the base. Dense coat with mushroom colour to the underparts. Slightly darker spine line, blue ticking but it could be more distinct. A sweet tempered if very lively girl. I would have preferred more ticking but it was difficult to see in the sunlight which was shining on the table when she was being judged.

SORREL ABYSSINIAN PREMIER, MALE
1ST (GPC WITHHELD) BOWYER’S PR SILSILA DANCESWITHWOLVES (23a) 15.11.04
A large elegant boy with a squeaky voice & short fine coat. His right eyes looks rather sore. Head a moderate wedge if a little long. Nose break in profile plus a large nose bump. Ears set wide but they could be larger. Large eyes set on a slant. Elegant & muscular body with long limbs & long tapering tail. Short fine & close-lying coat. Clearly ticked with chocolate on an apricot base. Darker spine line. A shy boy rather in the awe of the occasion. Certificate withheld because as he had a sore eye & so was not in top condition. He was seen by the Duty Vet who treated his eye to ease the discomfort. I have judged this boy at other shows & he wasn’t keen to leave the security of his pen then so he probably found the Supreme situation rather distressing.
