I attended the Viking Cat Club Show in Leigh, Wigan yesterday to take photos and accompany my friend who was showing her cat, Foxypaws Ramasses (GCCF Imp Gr Pr) gaining his first CAP at his first outing at a FB show!

It was my first FB show ever and if I am honest, was not expecting to be very impressed, however I have come away completely won over! The show was well run and friendly, there was a comaradarie between the exhibitors that I have never seen before at a Cat Show, exhibitors could be seen across the hall and sat listening to judges with their cats sat patiently on their knees, double pens had 2 or 3 cats curled up reassuringly together as they waited to be judged, show drapes showcased their residents to absolute perfection, in essence these shows are very much like a mini GCCF Supreme and the best of it is - you dont have to leave the hall giving you the care and responsibility of your own cat and leaving plenty of opportunity for shopping!

Side classes see cats from ALL sections competing to be the judge's favourite and is the most fun I have seen at a cat show - the exhibitors hold their own cats in a row while the judge plays and talks to each one in turn and then chooses their favourites handing out rossetes to all the winners - both side classes I watched had a Non pedigree cat who was placed both times against their pedigree counterparts.

Many of the exhibitors I spoke to thoroughly enjoy showing with FB and is a must for anyone that shows their cats to have an enjoyable day, a professional opinion from non biased judges all backed up by show management with a common sense approach to running a cat show!
