Yorkshire County Cat Club Show

 Saturday 25th October, 2008

Judge: Mrs. Anne-Marie Heath

My thanks to Lynda Ashmore and her team for inviting me to judge at the 80th Anniversary of their wonderful Yorkshire Show. I was delighted to accept and to have the company of my friend Liz Holmes who juggled her busy work schedule in Shetland to be able to spend the weekend in Doncaster. Thank you, Liz, for your invaluable help and companionship on such a special occasion. We both enjoyed the day immensely and thanks are due to the entire Yorkshire team for putting on such a super event.

Any Colour Burmese Adult Female (4 cats present)

 1: Tegg’s Gr.Ch. Bloomers Baroness Belchamp (27j female 17/06/06)

Weighty balanced girl in tip top condition with superb Burmese expression. Rounded dome between neat, correctly shaped ears set well apart. Very blunt wedge with, in profile, well defined break, virtually straight nose and chin of acceptable depth which is almost level with her nose. Level bite. Good depth of skull and slightly flat brow. Lustrous chartreuse eyes of correct shape and set. Elegant limbs with neat oval paws. Well shaped tail balances her muscular body. Her very close-lying silky textured coat is attractively mingled shades of lilac and cream. Her extremely friendly temperament made her easy to assess and she loved being handled and purred contentedly. A delightful girl.

2: Boardman’s Gr.Ch. Nicanory Daisy May (27 female 21/05/04)

Mature, muscular, elegant girl of excellent type and with good Burmese expression. Gently rounded dome between correctly shaped and sized ears placed well apart. Blunt wedge with, in profile, good depth of skull and acceptably rounded brow. Distinct break with straight nose and level chin which is a little shallow. Level bite. Her large yellow chartreuse eyes are lustrous and very expressive and set well apart. Elegant body with well rounded chest, strong slender limbs and neat oval paws. Her correctly shaped tail is short to balance. Clear rich seal-brown coat is a trifle long but lies well. On the day her coat felt rather dry and was somewhat under-prepared although it shone after some stroking. She has a wonderful easy-going temperament and enjoyed being handled for assessment. Another loudly purring lady.

3: Moore’s Ch. Catimus Rodelina (27b female 22/09/04)

Mature chocolate girl of balanced proportions in superb condition. Rounded dome between well shaped widely spaced ears. Short blunt wedge and, in profile, good depth of skull and rather flat brow. Well defined break with virtually straight nose and chin of reasonable depth which is almost level. Acceptable bite. Chartreuse eyes of correct size and set, though somewhat round on the day due, I imagine, to the fact that she was agitated and not at all happy to be handled. This spoiled her expression which, when she clamed down was typically Burmese. Weighty muscular body with rounded chest and elegant limbs with oval paws. Her tail is well shaped but short to balance. Clear, dark toned chocolate coat is paler towards her skin and slightly long, but lies very close. On the day she was very tense and unhappy to be assessed but with time she became calm and was playful in the security of her pen.

Also present:

Wilshaw’s Rossikhan Cupcake (27b female 17/08.07)

Impressive young chocolate girl of just over one year in excellent condition and with superb Burmese expression. Very much the baby of the class and so unlucky, on the day, to meet the three mature females above. Rounded dome between well positioned correctly shaped ears which are a little large at present due to immaturity. Short blunt wedge. Profile shows very good depth of skull and well rounded brow, defined break, virtually straight nose and almost level chin of reasonable depth. Level bite. Elegant body and slender limbs with neat oval paws. Well shaped tail of adequate length to balance. Her clear, warm toned chocolate coat with minimal shading is very close lying and satiny in texture. She was a little unsure of the days proceedings out of her pen but friendly and talkative when relaxed. This beautiful young girl has plenty of time to mature and is extremely promising at this stage.

Any Colour Burmese Neuter (One cat entered)

1: Riddle’s UK Gr.Pr. Oakford Senor Dinamico (27a male neuter 11/10/00)

Handsome, weighty eight year old blue lad with pronounced gentlemanly jowls and a wonderful Burmese expression. Balanced and proportionate and in tip top condition. Rounded dome between neat, correctly placed ears. Short wedge with, in profile, excellent depth of skull and well rounded brow. Very well defined break with straight nose and virtually level deep chin. Level bite. His large chartreuse eyes are well placed and display a deeply intelligent expression. Muscular body with well rounded chest and elegant limbs. Well shaped tail is fractionally short to balance his body. Clear, silky close-lying coat of soft blue tone with eye catching silvering to the rounded areas and especially obvious on his neat oval paws. This lovely boy has a superb relaxed temperament and he thoroughly enjoyed being handled for assessment . A credit to his owner/ breeder.

Any Colour Short Haired Kitten – 6-9 months Male (2 kittens present)

1: Nolan’s White – Knight – Perseus (short hair – white 7 months)

Eye-catching pure white neuter boy of seven months whose pale green eyes were wide with wonder at the days proceedings. His soft plushy coat was very well prepared for the show and was set off by his delicate pink nose leather, paw pads and ear tips. Very friendly and easy to handle this boy possesses that elusive special quality and I wish him and his owner lots of success at future shows.

2: Hepburn’s Indy ( short hair – black & white 6 months)

Extremely attractive six month old dear little fellow in tip top condition . Well grown and muscular with a profusion of long white whiskers, pink nose leather and huge round eyes with an endearing inquisitive expression. A little shy and wriggly at this stage but very friendly. A promising little lad. I understand he is the only surviving kitten of a litter born to a feral female in a garage. I wish his young lady owner lots of luck for his future show career.

Any Colour Short Haired Kitten – 6-9 months Female (1 kitten present)

1: Bailey’s Contessa (short hair – black 7.5 months)

Adorable little seven month old girl who, at this early stage, was very anxious and unsure of the proceedings. Her solid jet black silky coat was very well prepared and gleaming with health. Sparkling eyes with that “eager to please” kittenish expression. Easy to handle and sweet natured. Completely endearing – a little treasure. Any Colour Short Haired Adult Under 3 Years Old. (1 cat present) 1: Kidd’s MC Daisy (short hair black & white 2 years) Very friendly black and white young lady of two years with beautiful facial markings , large inquisitive green eyes and an impressive set of ultra long white whiskers. Very keen to come out of her pen and see the world. Exceptionally affectionate and very easy to assess. She enjoyed being cuddled and spoken with and purred loudly all the time. A lovely and much loved delightful girl.

Tabby or Tabby & White Adult or Kitten (1 kitten present)

1: Holland’s Maximus Meridius (short hair tabby & white 5 months)

Very aptly named enormous, well grown young lad of just five months – a veritable tiger cub! Presented in superb condition and with a fabulous temperament. Spotted tummy and spectacular striped markings on his upper body. Distinctive snow white bib and facial markings with profuse white whiskers and brick red nose leather. This kitten is truly stunning and he promises an interesting show career. I’m certain he will require a double pen when he is fully mature and will look forward to seeing him when he has attained his full size.

Mrs. Akehurst’s Gr.Pr. Chiaro Luminoso (27j female 6/12/05)

Muscular, proportionate weighty neuter girl of almost three years in excellent condition and with typical Burmese expression. Gently rounded dome with neat, well shaped, correctly sized ears which appeared to be fractionally close set at the time of assessment. Short wedge and, in profile, reasonable depth of skull and slightly flat brow. Well defined break, straight nose of acceptable length with fractionally rounded leather and virtually level, slightly shallow chin. Acceptable bite. Large, lustrous well spaced chartreuse eyes. Elegant, firm body with strong limbs and oval paws. Tail is short to balance and could be a little finer for perfection. Silky textured coat is a slightly long but lies well and is attractively mingled shades of lilac and cream. This girl has a wonderful relaxed temperament and was easy to handle and assess and she purred all the time.
