The Yorkshire County Cat Club Show - Sat 25th October 2008A special thank you to Lynda, for inviting me to judge, my very first engagement. It was particularly special as it was the Yorkshire CC show many years ago that was the very first show I visited at 14yrs of age and when I first got the bug we like to call a hobby. Thanks to Jan Bradley for looking after me and handling the cats so well.
AC Burmese maiden Adult
1st Rae’s RAEBURASI NARA 27a F 08/12/07.A young blue Burmese girl only just adult at 10 and a half month, shy but very good natured, who handled very well, bless her.
She has a fairly short wedge, with good width at cheeks, and a rounded muzzle. There is slight rounding to the top of the head visible from both the front between the ears and in profile from the back of her head to the front, and down over her forehead. She has a distinct break followed by a fairly short nose, spoilt by a small bump and a roll off at the very tip to the nose leather. Her chin is of medium depth and just about level with her nose and she has a level bite. Her ears were medium sized, broad at the base and rounded at the tip, having a slight forward tilt in profile. They were set well apart, with the outer edge line continuing the outline of her wedge
Her eyes were of good size although appeared very slightly deep set. They were framed by a top line slanting towards the nose and a fuller rounded lower line. In the hall lighting her eyes appeared as a good yellow with a chartreuse inner rim of the iris.
She has a medium sized and elegant stature to her body, feeling muscular with rounded chest and straight back, slender elegant legs and neat oval paws. Her tail length balances her body and is of medium thickness tapering gently to a rounded tip..
She has a fine satin like textured coat, slightly long but lying sleekly. Darkish blue toned, showing desired silvering around the head, over nose across cheeks, ears and legs and paws.
Burmese Kitten Male
1st Campbell’s MICIASALI MOSHE 27c M 16/02/08A calm and collected friendly young boy, with a good sized firm frame to his body and looking well developed for his 8 months.
He has a fairly short wide wedge finishing with a blunt muzzle. The gentle rounding to top of his head was apparent both from front between his ears and in profile from back to front of his head, and across the brow and shows good depth to his skull. He has largish ears, that hopefully he will grow into which are well set having good width between them. His neat profile has a shallow break followed by a fairly short straight nose finishing neatly in line with a chin which is of medium depth. He has a level bite.
His eyes were medium sized and yellow in colour with a gentle curve to the top line slanting towards the nose, however, the lower line of the eye needs more fullness, although they did improve when he was out of the pen, and being alert, as he held them more open, but I’d still prefer more fullness to his lower eye line.
He has very good weight and muscle tone yet still elegantly limbed with paws to grow into! His tail was a little thick at the base but tapered gentle to a rounded tip and lengthwise balanced his body.
In the hall lighting his coat appeared cool toned lilac over his head, back and tail. It had a good silky texture but is slightly long and a bit plush at the moment.
2nd Akehurst’s CHIARO PASTICCIO 27c M 08/04/08A rather shy young boy who was particularly unhappy with the noise in the hall when I handled him in the afternoon making him difficult to assess without distressing him further. He was looking rather unbalanced, square in the muzzle and perhaps a bit pinched today and needed more width to balance the length of his wedge. He has fairly large sized ears, but held them back due to stress so I was unable assess their set properly. His top of head shows gentle rounding in all directions, and his profile displays a distinct break, good depth to his head, and a medium chin which just recedes slightly.
His eyes are a good shape, with a top line slanting towards the nose and a full rounded lower line and they are a pale yellow in colour, I’d prefer them a little larger than they appeared today.
A gentle cuddle in his pen allowed me to tell that he is of good weight and has a firm muscular feel to his body. His tail is medium thickness with a rounded tip to the end and reached his shoulder so of appropriate length for his body. His legs are shapely with neat oval paws. His coat is a lovely sleek satin texture, very close lying, of medium length with a darkish lilac tone. I hope I will see him in a happier more confident mood on another occasion.
AC Burmese Neuter
1st Hutchings’ GR PR TALIPAW BURLINGTON BERTIE 27b MN 13/12/04A large muscular boy, feeling fit and in excellent condition. He has a lovely strong masculine Burmese look, with a short wide wedge, very good width a the cheeks and a blunt finish to the muzzle. Medium sized ears, with rounded tips are well set on his broad head with good width between them. His top of head shows gentle rounding in all directions, front to back and between his ears, gentle rounding to forehead. He has a distinct break, a fairly short straight nose and firm level chin of good depth. His bite has rather untidy front teeth but is level.
His large lustrous expressive eyes, were a pale yellow in colour, lovely Burmese expression with top eye line curving gently down to down and a fuller rounded lower eye line.
He has strong yet elegant legs and large oval paws, a tail of medium thickness, rounded tip but is just a little short to the proportion to his body, he has a small bony vertebrae approx 2 inches up from tip. His coat is a has warm tones to it’s milk chocolate colour, a little long but lies very well and has a silky texture.
2nd Plaw’s CH & PR RAINSONG XABI ALONSO 27 MN 07/03/07Running the winner close, a very stylish looking young lad, he has lots of ‘attitude’ but although he grumbled at being handled he remained a gentleman. His head is not yet as developed as the winner, being a fairly short wedge showing gentle rounding over the top in all directions and gentle rounding over his forehead. His ears are rather large but well set with good with between them wide at base and rounded tips and showing a slight tilt forward in profile,
He has a good break and a fairly short, neat straight nose, a medium depth chin, level with his nose and a level bite.
He has acceptable sized eyes, chartreuse in colour, good slanting top line and rounded lower line, I’d prefer them to be just slightly fuller in lower line and slightly larger for perfection.
He has a good muscular feel, to his sturdy yet elegant body and limbs with shapely legs and neat oval paws. His tail is just slightly short to balance, but a good shape, medium in thickness and tapering to a rounded tip. He has an exceptional glossy and rich warm toned brown short coat with satin like texture making him eye catching.
3rd Akehurst’s GR PR CHIARO LUMINOSO 27j FN 06/12/05A weighty lady, her plumpness slightly detracting from her elegance.
Her head has good width across the cheeks, finishing with a rounded muzzle. Her top of head shows gentle rounding both from front and in profile with very good width between ears which were slightly large with rounded tip, set well apart so that the outer line continued up from the line of the wedge and with a slight tilt forward in profile.
She has a good break followed by a straight nose, slightly longer than I prefer which rolled off just at the tip to the nose leather, and a slightly shallow depth chin which was just about level. Level bite.
Her large lustrous eyes, were framed by a top line which gently curves and slants towards the nose and full lower line giving a lovely expression. They are a lovely yellow with a pleasing amount of intensity of colour.
Elegant slim legs, dainty spoon shaped paws and a medium thick tail which tapers gently to a round tip but requires a little more length to balance. Her lilac tortie coat is silky in texture, glossy and close lying despite being slightly long. In the hall lighting she appeared to be a slightly warmer cream and a darker lilac in colour than I’d prefer.
AC Burmese Kitten
1st Goodman’s DOKPHISUA APELIOTA 27a F 07/03/08Very sweet blue kitten with very good short wide wedge finishing with a gently rounded yet blunt muzzle and lovely rounding to top of head and gentle rounded contours to the head in general which also has good depth. Her medium sized kitten ears, wide at base and rounded tips are set well apart, the outer line continuing the outer contours of her wedge.
In profile she has a strong distinct break, a short straight nose, finishing in the same vertical plane as her chin which has good depth. Her bite appeared level at the sides although lower front adult teeth were as yet missing having lost her baby ones by today.
Her eyes were a good size set well apart and the shape of the eye top line curved gently in a downward slant toward the nose with the bottom line being full and rounded to give a lovely expression once she was enticed into opening them fully. Their colour still developing and looking promising having golden hues behind muddier olive shades.
She has an elegant delicate female build feeling firm and of good weight for her age with elegant dainty legs and spoon shaped paws. Tail is a good length, balancing her body length, of medium thickness and tapering to a rounded tip
Her coat, still kitteny, has a soft silky texture in general, with a slightly harsher small patch over her rump at present. It is slightly long as yet and showing a slight ticked appearance as the silvering is still developing over flanks at present. She was a soft blue, silvering developing, and noticeable over face and paws.
2nd Johnson’s VERVAIN CHERRYPLUM 27c 21/03/08Such a pretty lilac Miss, alert and playful enjoying her day out today.
She has a neat short wedge, slightly finer in the muzzle than the winner. Lovely rounding to her top of head, with larger kitten ears, wide at base and rounded to tip. She kept holding them a slightly higher than I’d like today, in her eagerness for attention.
She has a medium depth of chin, finishing level with her nose, and a level bite.
In profile she has a lovely neatness to her profile with a short straight nose, but a gentle, rather than distinct break at present.
Her eyes were set well apart, of a good size and shape with the top line of eye gently curved and slanted towards the nose and the lower eye line rounded and full give her a good expression. Her eye colour is still developing but showing promise with strong golden hues around the outer edge of the iris whilst still muddier in the centre.
She has a dainty, elegant body, legs and paws with a good weight firmness finished with a tail which is a medium thickness, tapering to a rounded tip and it’s length balances her body.
Her coat was particularly good for a young kitten, silky smooth and close lying and quite short. Even in colour of a pale, pinky lilac.
3rd Matthews’ KATCHYN COCOMARA 27b F 07/02/08A young chocolate girl, slightly older and already thinking about boys it seems! She is slightly longer in the head although she has good width across cheeks. Her muzzle appeared slightly pinched today and she puffed her whisker pads out as well which accentuated it and spoilt her appearance today. She has good depth to her head, and a good depth to her chin which finishes in line with her nose.
Her top of head gently rounds in both directions, and continues to a gentle rounding of the forehead. Her medium sized ears are well set with good width between them, wide at base and rounded at tip with a tilt forward in profile.
She has a very good distinct break but her nose unfortunately has a slight bump and rolls off at its tip and appears slightly long.
Her eyes display a really lovely expression, being large and lustrous, set well apart and with gently curve to top line which slants down to the nose and a full rounded lower eye line. Her eye colour is still developing but showing strong depth of pigmentation and a rich chartreuse colouration.
She has a good strong body, with good muscle tone, compact yet still elegant, with shapely limbs and spoon shaped paws, finished with a medium thick tail which tapers gently to rounded tip, which is just long enough to balance her body. There is a small stiff ending to her tail.
Her coat is a warm milk chocolate, even in colour over her body with a darker contrast to her mask and some ticking on her tail, and the back of her neck. The texture was not as fine as I’d like and a small area was slightly coarse in texture just over her rump and at the tail base but it was short in length.
