CAMBRIDGESHIRE CAT CLUB

28 MARCH 2009

BRENDA PEARCE

My thanks to Sally, Paul and the committee for my invite, and as always to the exhibitors for bringing their lovely cats. I enjoyed my day very much in the company of my superb steward Lisa Aggett – thanks once again Lisa for giving up your time to spend the day with me.

OPEN CLASSES. ORIENTAL IMPERIAL GRAND PREMIER MALE.

IGP, SMITH’S GR PR MOUSTACHES FENTON FAUVE. (37fn) 22.6.99. Oriental Apricot. A very handsome and impressive chap in wonderful condition; one of the first cats I judged when I became a judge of orientals, and one which taught me all about sound coats!! Very strong broad wedge head with length to balance. Ears well set although, on such a strong head, they could be a touch larger. Very good strong profile with a deep firm chin, clean white teeth, and a perfectly level bite. Eyes well set and shaped, of clear bright green, lovely soulful expression. Long muscular body and neckline, slightly heavy but very well toned. Stands up tall on long strong legs. Tapered tail needs just a little more length for perfect balance. Superb sound and close lying coat, very even in tone and free of ghosting – the colour hot and sandy, an excellent example of his particular breed colour. Approaching 10 years and looking as good as ever, as always he was beautifully presented and a delight to handle.

RIGP w/h, 2 ELLIS’S GR PR MYLYNN MOONSHADOW. (62 20). 9.12.06. Oriental Brown Tabby Longhair. This lad has absolutely wonderful type but he is a longhair and, although his coat texture is excellent, at his age I would expect to see more length of coat. It is difficult, be it time of the year, hormones or whatever, and I do sympathise, but I have seen him with a lot more coat than he has at the moment. Beautifully balanced strong wedge head with large ears, wide based, well flared and with wisps and fronds. Strong profile with a firm chin and level bite. Lovely expression to mid green eyes of excellent oriental shape and set. Long muscular body, well nourished but very firm. Long strong legs, well plumed tail. Fine silky textured coat, beautifully prepared but, at the moment, generally lacking the length required by the breed standard. Tabby markings excellent on his head, face and legs. His plume shows some diffuse rings. Solid wide spine line. Spots well distributed and although there is some linkage they are impressively sound. Presentation and temperament both excellent.

ORIENTAL IMPERIAL GRAND PREMIER FEMALE.

IGP w/h, 1 CLAYDEN’S GR PR SPELLCASTER BLACKBESS. (37) 24.2.04. Oriental Black. An attractive lady in excellent condition and of good overall type, but in my opinion she does not quite make Imperial.. Mid length wedge head with well set ears of adequate size. Profile shows a small dip and her chin could be deeper. Teeth untidy but her bite was acceptable. Slightly full pale green eyes rather lacking the wicked look that I love to see in a black. Long slender body with dainty legs and paws. Tail a good whip – for perfection could be a touch longer. Superb short, close coat which was jet black and sound to the roots. Rather a shy girl, beautifully prepared and presented

ORIENTAL TORTOISESHELL ADULT.

CC w/h, 1 KEEDY’S THAIANTIA WHAT THEDILLIO. (37h) 19.12.07. Chocolate Tortie. A young queen of average type, looking a tad immature for her age. Shorter wedge head. Ears could be larger and require more width between them. Tiny dip to profile, good chin and bite. Eyes of good shape and set but held full - pale chartreuse in colour. Long slim body with dainty legs and feet. Good whip tail. Lovely texture to her short sleek coat, well patched and mingled in dark rich chocolate and shades of bright red. Presentation and temperament both excellent.

HAVANA NEUTER MALE.

PC w/h, 1 SOLARUS NIRAN CHAO-FAH. 8.6.08. Just 9 months and well grown for his age but of very kittenish appearance at the moment. Shorter wedge head. Ears could be larger and require more width between them. Dip to profile, fairly good chin, level bite. Innocent wide eyed expression to bright green eyes. Well nourished body, somewhat at the ‘puppy’ stage at the moment. Long sturdy legs. Tail tapered and of balancing length. Coat of good length and texture, the colour looked quite dark, and a touch cold but this could have been as a result of the yellow hall lighting – on the plus side it was reasonably sound. Presentation and temperament both excellent.

ORIENTAL CLASSIC TABBY NEUTER MALE.

PC w/h, 1 WILLIAMS & MARSH’S PATCHESTY IGGLEPIGGLE. (41n) 8.6.08. Caramel Classic. Of good type but very immature and kittenish at the moment, and the classic pattern that should have been, sadly was not. Evenly balanced wedge head. Ears of good size but need to be a little more open at the base. Bump on profile, firm chin, level bite. Bright mid green eyes of lovely oriental shape and set. Slender body with good muscle, but needs to gain in masculinity. Long slim legs. Long whip tail. Super coat texture, his colour excellent with warm brownish grey markings on a warm beige ground. He did have good facial markings, broken leg bars and some classic tail rings, plus 1 unbroken and 2 broken necklaces, but the lines running over his head disappear into a virtually solid spine line with no evidence of butterflies, and what should have been clear oysters were barely discernible as such. His temperament was superb and his presentation excellent.

TABBY POINT SIAMESE KITTEN FEMALE.

1 & BOB, KINCAIDE’S MAFDET MOVIESTAR. (32/1) 4.10.08. Lovely baby. Strong and even wedge head with large wide based ears, set well apart and very well flared. Very good profile, almost straight with a firm chin and level bite. Very good oriental shape and set to her dark blue eyes, held a touch full when out of her pen. Long body, a little dainty in stature at the moment but she was firm and weighty. Slim legs. Well ringed fine whip tail. Good warm seal tabby markings. Firm thumb prints. Clear M and single cheek ribbons. Paler leg bars and arm bands. Almost clear warm toned body, her coat short and close lying. Lovely temperament – promising baby.

MISCELLANEOUS CLASSES.

AC SIAMESE/BALINESE BREEDERS ADULT.

1 SIMPSON’S SHERMESE MERCEDES. (24n) F 9.4.08. Caramel Point Siamese. Very attractive and stylish. Strong wedge and profile with a firm chin and level bite. Ears very large, beautifully set and flared. Lovely eyes and expression. Very tall and elegant with a long well toned body, slender legs and fine whip tail. Well matched blue based caramel points. Lightly shaded off white body, her coat a touch long but close lying. Gorgeous girl.

2, RICHARDS’S DEBIKAT GRACIE-MAE. (32/1) F 2.4.08. Seal Tabby Point Siamese. All in balance she has fulfilled her early promise, made Champion today I gather – well done. Strong wedge head, straight profile, firm chin, acceptable bite. Ears large, wide based and of excellent set. Lovely eyes and expression. Long slender body, long slim legs, long well ringed tail. Well defined warm seal tabby markings. Lightly ticked body with a short, close lying coat. Delightful girl.

3 RIDGEWAY’S HARTZIE GALAXYOFSTARS. (24) F 22.4.08. Seal Point Siamese. Dainty & fine boned, of good overall type. Strong wedge head, near straight profile, good chin and bite. Bright blue eyes held a touch full. Long slender body with legs and tail in balance. Well matched dense seal points. Warmly shaded body – close lying coat. Sweet girl, calling furiously!!

AV NON BREEDERS ADULT.

1 TURNER’S APPLEJACK SUMMERHEAT. (32fn) M 27.2.07. Apricot Point Siamese. A boy of good overall type. Mid length wedge head, small pinch, straight profile, chin lacks depth – shows acne. Level bite. Ears well set but could be larger. Bright vivid blue eyes – well shaped and set. Firm well muscled body, long legs, tapered tail a little greasy at the base. Hot, sandy points. Lightly shaded creamy white body – his coat a touch long and fluffy. Very tense.

2 SMITH’S FIROUSI FORYOUREYESONLY. (48 40d) M 29.4.07. Oriental Red Point & White Bi-Colour. A boy of good overall type. Short broad wedge head, near straight profile, firm chin, level bite. Ears of good size and well set. Slightly full pale blue eyes. Mid length well muscled body, long legs and tail. Pale red points. Face shows a small white inverted V. His legs appeared to be completely white but I do appreciate the difficulty with a red point in artificial light! Apart from a little light shading over his back the rest of his body was white, so well over the required 1/3. Coat a little coarse but of good length and close lying. Shy but gentle boy.

3 TITTERALL’S MAMAMIA MISS DIOR. (48e) F 30.10.07. Oriental Black Tortie & White Bi-Colour.

AV RADIUS KITTEN.

1 WILDON’S SUNJADE SILKMOTH. (45k) F 15.10.08. Oriental Cinnamon Ticked Tabby. Beautiful baby, very well grown. Short strong wedge head, straight profile, firm chin, level bite. Large wide based and very well set ears. Eyes bright green and expressive. Long well muscled body, long legs and tail. Rich warm cinnamon ticked coat, short and very close fitting, of wonderful texture, with even treble ticking over the whole of her body. A beauty queen with attitude! AV KITTEN. 1 ROWLAND’S SOLARUS MORGANA. (37j) F 25.9.08. Oriental Lilac Tortie. Fine and dainty girl, very tall and slinky. Long wedge head, needs just a touch more width to balance. Lovely ‘bull terrier’ profile, chin and bite ok. Large ears well set. Bright green oriental eyes. Very long body & neckline. Long tall legs, long stringy whip tail. Sleek close coat of excellent texture, sound and well mingled in mid lilac and shades of cream. Attractive, promising baby.

AV MAIDEN NEUTER.

1 SOLARUS NIRAN CHAO-FAH. (29) MN 8.6.08. Havana.

CHARITY CLASS- AV SIAMESE/BALINESE/ORIENTAL ADULT.

1 SMITH’S FIROUSI FORYOUREYESONLY. (48 40d) M 29.4.07. Oriental Red Point & White Bi-Colour.
