Cat breeding? Cats n kittens are destroyed EVERY year while cat breeders are pumping out more n more unwanted cats into the system. Thats another funny a breeder saying what she saw as not right! I dont get it?
The lady who splits up the fight, does just that. My cat (that I rescued) came home with a horrid injury, that went septic, following a fight. He then had to have an anesthetic to clean it all up and he lost part of his tail. I now keep him in but he misses his trips out. So You should do what you can within that moment to stop it. Thats all. As for putting down her glass: are you having a laugh? How 'nit picking' is that. She made a snap decision, to get that huge cat off. Yes if you want a time delay at the other cat's peril do that. My cat is scared emotionally and physically now. If that big cat had gone for one of your cats, would you have said, hang on let me put my drink down, walk around the back of you and pick it up. No you would responded! Its called instinct and she was prepared to assist a cat under attack, whilst being filmed.
I have looked n looked at the film to see whats also SO wrong with the way the Steward put the cat in the pen?? What is it that was so bad? The bad thing is the cat suffering in a pen, for the day. Cat showing does not benefit the cats that are shown!! Why does someone debate that? I will say the look on that cats face (the champion cat) summed it up for me. Poor thing. It looked as if it was on death row.
As one person said 'Why would Cat Planet' capitalise on this if it was just so bad. Its to show the passion and nutty side not people being cruel. Cruelty is subjecting something to something unnecessary and for your pleasure. That is not the case. A cat goes to do something and she stops it! Thats it!She did not take it down the road and put it in a wheelie bin. She stops fight.
Well as I am on my soap box I believe a breeder that cares about cats should stop breeding and get a job in a rescue centre for cats and kittens, so that they are re-homed and not destroyed.
I will say the lady with all the cats did have space for them, not being bred in pens and shut away and they were all being cats, despite the spats LOL. She clearly loved them , I will give her that n to see them all on the bed. That moved me a little. The other lady did not have her cats upstairs! So at least the other lady did.
The lady from PETA got it right. I support WISPA and they are fantastic too. Some people should do something with your negativity and save a life.
The lady that does the models of the cats is fantastic, but she did not have any cats there. I wondered if they had all run off. Ikeas ad is so good and so relaxing. The cats snuggling down in the bed makes you want turn out the light n say night night.
So what everyone should do is put a £1.00 in an animal charity box every time they see the advert. That way we show our appreciation to cats for the pleasure they bring. Bob & June
I cannot believe what I am reading, people condoning picking a cat up by its tail!! The lady that was filmed putting a cat in the bin on you tube (not by its taiI I might add)Is being charged with animal cruelty. Cats do not tend to fight like dogs, they have a quick spat and its all over. This ladys responce and arrogance speaks volumes to me. I would not call cats in overcrowded conditions spoilt, I would call them stressed which is why they were fighting inthe first place because thier arrogant owner was more interested in showing up to the camera and I dont find anything amusing about it. These people are being used by the media and are so stupid they cant even see it.
Stop wasting your time on petty nonsenses, if you truly cared about cats you would be looking and caring about actual animal abuse and not this.
I think that these comments show that the focus is not on the surrounding evidence that the cats are truly loved, the video is clearly out of context.
I think it has been completely blown out of proportion about the lady pulling the cat away from the other. Isn't it better to avoid the physical and emotional scars to a cat rather than let the cats maule each other?
I can see that the whole film has been made for comic effect, with one lady noting 'i dont think a cats place is in the bedroom' and then another shot of a woman sitting on a bed surrounded by sphinx kitten, therefore i think it should be noted that the editing and actual clips might not be so reliable to judge. I strongly, as a supporter of peta, do not think animal abuse should be taken lightly, but this clearly is not the case. I also believe if catplanet truly think this is animal abuse that they would not publish it in the first place!
To stop a cat fighting, any cat lover would have put down their wine and gone round too stop the fight, not grab the cat by the tail and yank it over the sofa.
Answering all questions, No, I wouldn't like to see the cats fight. Secondly it's the way this cat had been picked up is wrong, specially breeder should know how risky it was, and Yes it was cruel to pick up this poor cat by it's tail when she could do it different way.
I don't and would never accept or tolerate fox hunting or dog fighting.
It is not only my opinion that this film was creepy and sick! Read comments on You tube. There's no doubt that film showed all cat owners in very bad light.
So glad to see cats getting so much media attention. I think what Ikea has done is fantastic for cat and the cat community. I think some people should pull in their claws. What a ridiculous suggestion that the lady is cruel, she acted swiftly to stop a cat fight. Like somebody else said, did you want to see a fight. Two cats having a fight is a horrible thing to witness. So yes, if you enjoy cat fighting, dog fighting, Bull fighting etc then in my opinion your comments are without any justification whatsoever.
The lady moving her cat up by its tail was clearly acting instinctively trying to stop the cats from fighting. Would you have liked the cats to have had a fight??
Why are some people commenting unnecessarily on the negative, did you not see the lovely environment they live in, they seem spoilt. I wouldn't mind going there for my holidays!
I have been involved with the cat fancy for many years, i thoroughly enjoyed seeing the funny side as this was meant to be!
Well I cant believe that someone would suggest that lady is cruel!!!!! Why, her cat is going in for a fight and she breaks it up. Some people would OBVIOUSLY rather witness a cat fight more-over some one attempting to break it up!!

well I have to agree with Emma b and Nicole, I would rather see a cat fight stopped quickly with no casualties than all out war. Did those who think its creepy/weird etc. have sense of humour failure?? Ikea clearly say it is tongue in cheek! for those who don't understand it means it is not to be taken too seriously may be some on here should bear that in mind.

Well having watched this over and over I don't think the lady who grabbed her cat was being mean having watched it closely it is obvious to me that she was stopping him (well I am guessing it is a boy) trying to pounce on one of her other cats!!!
If you think about it logically if there was any thing cruel going on the would Ikea REALLY have wanted to show it?? After all it would not do much for their reputation by interviewing someone being cruel to an animal which incidentally is not what I think is happening and obviously they were there they saw everything and must have been fine for them to continue. If you look on the Ikea site the same lady is being interviewed with cat on her lap who quite frankly looked like he had died and gone to heaven with the fuss he was receiving from her, something tells me they are pampered pussys not cruelty cases.

Would you all rather see a cat fight and a cat getting hurt or someone quickly preventing that from happening!!

The lady holding her cat on his tail should be accused for animal cruelty. Everyone should know how risky is picking cat by it's tail, it can end with paralize and damage the spine and cat's nervous system!
