A CAT breeder watched one of her animals give birth on national television.
Liz Richmond-Watson also saw close-ups of kittens in the womb during the
Channel 4 programme Animals In The Womb: Cats. Over the summer, Ms Richmond-Watson, 48, welcomed a camera crew and production team into her Bix home , where she breeds Bengal cats part-time. The crew followed different parts of the breeding process using her aniamls, including Miami, Tallulah and Mr Darcy. They filmed two cats mating in the garden and Tallulah giving birth to seven kittens. They used scanning equipment to film inside the womb. Thanks to 4D imaging technology viewers could see detailed four-dimensional images of several foetuses in Tallulah and Miami’s wombs. Ms Richmond-Watson, who also works as an accountant and book-keeper, was amazed by the sophistication of the filming techniques used by the crew from Pioneer Productions. She said: "They spent some time here and we even stayed up until 3am one night when Tallulah was expecting, just in case the kittens arrived. "It was fascinating to watch the ultrasound equipment being used — the crew connected this £60,000 scanner to a laptop and the images were fantastically detailed."
