SHORT-HAIRED CAT SOCIETY & REX CAT ASSOCIATION SHOWS Sunday 18th April 2010 Judge: Charis White

Many thanks to Ruth Wehren who gave up a sunny day to steward for me. It was lovely to see you, Ruth, and as always, I really enjoy our days together. I am so glad you and Jacob got your walk in the forest. I look forward to next time, and thanks again.

AC BRITISH OR SELKIRK REX GRAND CHAMPION ADULT FEMALE

 IGCC – KINGWELL’S GR CH LORASTON GRETA-GARBO – Cream British 17/04/07

Cobby compact female – she has a broad deep body of good weight and she stands on short sturdy legs with firm round paws. Tail of good length just tapers at the tip. Lovely round head of good size for balance. Ears are a fraction tall but fairly well spaced. Super round orange eyes and full cheeks. Short broad nose, level bite and firm chin. She has a dense crisp coat – it’s a fraction long but is of an even warm cream shade, almost sound to the roots and very clear of markings. The condition is excellent for the time of year. Well shown.

BRITISH COLOURPOINTED ADULT

BOB – BLATHERWICK’S CH WINDYMEADOW WORCESTER

Red male

MALE CC – HOLLOWAY’S KRUZINKAL TORCHWOOD –Lilac 03/06/09

He is only just an adult and has some maturing to do but on the day, he had the edge and is very promising. He has a medium frame of fairly good depth and weight – the body has still to broaden. Medium length tail with rounded tip. Round head with cheeks filling out. His ears are a little open at the bases and are slightly pricked in set. Super big round eyes – they are developing quite a good shade and have pleasing expression. Broad nose and level bite – his chin has yet to firm up. He has not moved into the hormones of maturity and he has a lovely crisp dense coat in good condition, with even lilac mask and points against a clear magnolia body colour. Sweet temperament.

2ND - GARDNER’S WINDYMEADOW SPECTOR MORSE – Cream 14/05/07

Medium framed male with good body shape and weight. Sturdy legs with round paws. Tail is of good length but just tapers at the tip. Broad round head with well filled cheeks. Ears are a fraction open at the bases, fairly well set. Large round eyes of a good shade of blue. Short broad nose, level bite and fairly firm chin. Short dense coat is quite crisp with a pleasing creamy white body colour. The points colour is even in colour for matching – he has some acceptable barring and striping in the points colour and some ghost rings on his tail. I am sorry that we could not get the cat in pen 26 out. He meant business and obviously was not keen and I was not prepared to risk any of the three of us. I hope he settled down later.

FEMALE

CC HOLLOWAY’S WINDYMEADOW QUARESMA – Seal Tortie 17/04/08

She has a neat cobby frame, broad and deep, which stands on short well boned legs – she could just be a little heavier. Medium length tail with rounded tip. Round head with good top between slightly large ears. Lovely full cheeks. Her eyes are rather deep set and could be bigger but she was shy and I think that she tended to screw them up somewhat! Good profile and level bite, firm chin. She has a dense short coat – it shows heavy shading throughout but it tones with the points colour and there is still evident contrast with the points colour which is a deep seal brown.

2ND - PARR’S PARRADAZY KITTYKAT –Lilac Tabby 21/05/09

Ten months old and she needs the time to develop. At the moment she lacks British type and has a rangy, but weighty, body and good bone to slightly long legs with neat paws. Her head has yet to achieve any roundness as her cheeks have not yet filled out. She also needs width between rather open ears. Large round eyes are very pale in shade – almost grey. Medium length broad nose, level bite and firm chin. Her coat is dense and crisp, fairly short, the body colour magnolia and fairly clear. There is evidence of the tabby pattern in the points colour but it is not really lilac as it has a definite brown-based tone to it, rather than pinkish grey, and the underside of her tail has a distinct silvery tone – so she may be incorrectly registered.

BRITISH COLOURPOINTED NEUTER

BOB – BLATHERWICK’S PR ADVISH ARRAMINTO

 Chocolate male

MALE PC – GREEN’S TANGLEKEYS NADURRA – Cream 24/06/08

Coming up to two years of age and he still has some maturing to do. He is weighty and fairly well boned in body and legs with firm rounded paws. Balanced tail. Head is becoming more rounded but his cheeks still need to fill out more and he has slightly large ears for balance. Deep set eyes are of a god shade of blue – they just have a slightly flat top line to the shape. Broad nose with good profile, acceptable bite and firm chin. Dense crisp coat is quite short – it just lies a little flat. Body colour is creamy white with a good contrast to the points colour which is evenly matched on mask and ears, legs, paws and tail where he has some quite hot cream ghost rings.

2ND - RILEY’S LILACMIST ROLY POLY – Red 20/01/09

Well grown male of good weight, well boned legs and rounded paws. Tail balances to body. At the moment he is rather lacking in type – he needs breadth of head and fuller cheeks. As a result his ears look rather big for balance. Large round eyes, the colour could be deeper. Short broad nose, level bite and firm chin. His coat is crisp and quite dense but a little long and it lies flat as a result. He has a creamy white body colour. His ears are rich red, the other points paler and he has acceptable tabby markings in the points colour – just a little strong on his mask.

 3RD – LAW’S MENARA BATHWOOD ARCHER –Blue 03/03/09

He still looks very young and is rather small in frame, narrow and rangy in body. He needs more bone to legs and paws. Fairly round head with cheeks still developing and he looks rather muzzly at the moment. Ears are large and open for balance. Large round pale blue eyes, good profile and level bite. Firm chin. He has a dense crisp coat with pleasing evenly matched medium blue points. He has some shading on his body colour but it does not detract from the points colour contrast to body colour. Sweet temperament. He just needs a lot of time.

FEMALE

PC – STANLEY’S GR CH LORASTON AMARIGE – Red 18/08/01

Broad mature female with a large four-square body, strong well boned legs and neat paws. Medium length tail with slightly tapered tip Her head looks a little small for her body and her ears a little large – they have lovely rounded tops. Deep set round blue eyes. Full cheeks. Broad nose, level bite and firm chin. Dense crisp coat just lies a little flat. Good contrast between clear creamy white body colour and rich red points. Some acceptable tabby markings – just rather hot ghost rings on her tail.

2ND – GARDNER’S CH NORTONWOOD CARLA MARIE – Lilac Tortie 20/02/03

Another cobby mature female with broad deep body, strong legs and rounded paws. Round head with neat ears and full cheeks. Slightly small deep set blue eyes. Good profile and firm chin. Dense, slightly long crisp coat with good mingling of lilac and cream to the points colour. Clear contrast with the magnolia white body colour. Medium length tail with rounded tip.

AC SELKIRK REX NEUTER

BOB – GILLOTT’S GR PR CURLU COCO

Tortie Longhair female

SELKIRK REX ADULT MALE CC,

BOB – MURREY-DREW’S ASPIRITOUS URIAH HEAP – Blue Shorthair 28/04/09

Medium framed cobby male who is very weighty – he is getting a little broad across the middle of the body at the moment. He has a broad deep rectangular body and stands on medium legs with rounded paws. Medium length tail with rounded tip. Broad round head with full cheeks and medium sized ears – they are set a little upright but also add to a very slight British look. Pleasing profile with rounded forehead and downward slant to his nose. Large round well opened eyes. Muzzle appears fairly well padded, broad nose, level bite and firm chin. Soft plush dense coat covers his body well and has plenty of evidence of the Rex gene with loose waves. The coat stands out from his body well and is of even length. More curly on chin chest and tummy.

 FEMALE

CC – CREATON & WALKER’S CRINKLES FORGET ME NOT – Tortie Longhair 17/04/09

Compact rectangular frame of good weight, medium length legs with rounded paws. Tail balances to body and is well plumed. Broad head with full cheeks. Ears are a fraction upright in set, but of good shape and size. Forehead seems a little shallow in profile – it could do with a little more roundness. When alert she has lovely round eyes with a pleasing expression. Fairly well padded muzzle with curly whiskers, level bite and firm chin. Thick dense plush coat of uniform length – she just has an area on the back of her neck where it is a little shorter – but with no sparse areas. There are plenty of loose random curls.

AC BRITISH BREEDER’S ADULT MALE

1ST - LEE’S SODACHICATS WELLINEVER – Colourpointed & White male 15/09/08

Super type to this boy but the coat is too long and a bit soft – next part of the job! He has a very well boned body and a pleasing expression to large round eyes. Correct proportions of white to colours with a pleasing blaze, correctly positioned, and other white areas conforming to the Standard. Some acceptable tonal shading on the body.

2ND - SIMPSON’S ALTHALUS SAMMSON – Colourpointed & White male 07/03/07

He is a slightly longer rangier male but of good weight and bone. He has a broad round head of good type with neat ears and full cheeks. Large round blue eyes. His coat is a little long but quite crisp and dense. Good white distribution conforms to the SOP and he has good points and body colours.

Good balance of triangular wedge to firm muscular body and long tapered tail. Green eyes are a fraction straight set and she has slight bump to her nose in profile. Good proportions of white – she has a white tip to her left ear and a patch between her eyes; white also starts under both eyes and runs down under her chin to her chest where it extends to her abdomen uninterrupted.
