Many thanks to Chris and Pete for the invitation to judge and to the Chester and North Wales Cat Club for their hospitality. I had a most enjoyable day with some lovely cats ably assisted by my steward Heather Bradley. Many thanks Heather I look forward to the next time. It was a real pleasure to judge the Overall Best in Show although a bit of a headache as it was such a splendid line up.

AV FOREIGN GRAND PREMIER MALE

1 IGR PC PLAW’S IGR PR RAINSONG STEVIE GERRARD 72 45d MN 28.6.05

Four plus year old boy shown in excellent condition. Excellent size and weight, solid and with good muscle tone. Medium to longer length body, well balanced with shapely, proportionate legs and largish, oval paws. Good tail for length and shape to balance body. Coat is fairly short, just slightly dense but close lying and of excellent satin like texture. Asian Red Ticked Tabby with a rich, deep red coat with ticking better defined on sides and flanks than along the spine. Colour pales slightly under body and on chin. Fairly short blunt wedge. Very good width to gently rounded top of head between well set and shaped ears of good size. Slight rounding to brow, good nose break, fairly short, straight nose which rounds slightly at tip. Level bite and fair depth, level chin. Pale yellowy-green eyes, set wide apart, full round shape to bottom line, for preference I would like a bit more fullness to outer top line for perfection. Nice natured.

RIGPC PC EVANS’S GR PR MAIPENRAI DOWJAI 34 MN 20.8.07

Lovely size and weight to this almost three year old Korat Boy who ran the winner very close. Good heart shaped head when viewed from the front with good breadth between and across the eyes and gently curving to a nicely rounded muzzle. Large forehead showed gentle rounding rather than being flat but he had a slight downward curve to a slightly long nose, slight stop between nose and forehead. Level bite and fair depth chin. Large ears, flared at base and, set fairly high on head. Large, luminous, full shaped eyes, green in colour. Good muscle tone to medium sized and boned body with semi cobby appearance. Good, well boned legs to balance body and oval paws. Medium length tail, heavier at base and tapering to a rounded tip. Excellent coat fairly short, fine, close lying and with a glossy appearance and superb texture. Lovely even medium blue in colour with good silver tipping and a light silvery sheen to rounded areas. Nice temperament.

AV FOREIGN GRAND PREMIER FEMALE

1 IGR PC MORELAND’S GR PR TOBYSDEN FANTASIA 76 30 FN 4.6.07

Excellent size and weight to this three year old boy well balanced and shown in lovely condition. Medium to large body, long, and sleek with good muscle tone, medium length, well boned legs and large rounded paws. Good tail medium in length, thick and even, carried low and with a rounded, dark tip. Short to medium length coat, fairly good density, soft and luxurious in texture. Brown Spotted Bengal of lovely golden-rufus ground colour with rich, brown markings just slightly spoilt by some grey overtones. Large rosettes in tones of brown. Clear ‘M’ on face, pencil lines on cheeks, chin straps and vertical streaks over head. Slight linkage to spots at shoulders but broken lines and spots on legs with spots down to her toes, rings on tail and spots on tummy. Good, broad, medium wedge with rounded contours, high cheek bones and head correctly small in proportion to body. Pleasing profile line with slight concave curve from forehead to bridge of nose, slight dip to nose then straight to tip. Broad nose and full, broad muzzle, level bite but slightly shallow chin. Pronounced whisker pads. Small to medium sized ears following the outer contours of the head, wide at base and rounded at tips. Green colour to full, almond shaped eyes, large and correctly slanted towards the base of the ear. Sweet natured.

RIGPC MARSHALL’S GR PR BANEAURELIO DEMELZA 33 30d FN 8.9.04

Red Spotted Cornish Rex lady of nearly six years of age and shown in splendid condition who ran the winner very close. High cheekbones to medium wedge with head length about one third greater than the width, narrowing to a good rounded muzzle with long whiskers, level bite and fair depth chin. Nice in profile with flat skull curving gently at brow and continuing virtually straight to tip. Large ears set high on head, wide at base and tapering to rounded tips. Medium size to pale yellow, oval shaped eyes with top line set almost straight and with slight slant to the outer edge of ears. Hard and muscular, medium length, very weighty body with an elegant neck. Her well filled waistline just slightly spoiled her overall balance. Long slender legs and small oval paws. Fine, tapering, long tail well covered in wavy fur. Coat is fairly short, lovely and dense, silky in texture. Coat marginally longer down spine line, slightly sparse on back of ears and tummy. Excellent deep wave to fur down back, sides and top of legs. Nice gentle wave to fur down tail finishing with a curl to the fur at the tip. Super temperament.

AC SILVER SOMALI KITTEN

1 & BOB BULLIVANT’S BARANCHRI IOLANTHE 63as F 20.4.10

Delightful four month old kitten that is still developing but looks promising. Good breadth to top of head with moderate wedge and gentle contours to brow, cheeks and profile line. Slight rise from bridge of nose to high forehead with good width between the ears. Nice width at cheekbones, slightly strong (at present) indentation forms the muzzle but she is noticeably teething which is slightly spoiling the overall look of her face shape. Gently rounded muzzle which I would prefer a little more generous for perfection. In profile she has a slight nose break and good depth chin. Level bite. Large ears are set well apart, broad at base, pricked, well cupped and with tiny tufts at tips and some furnishings to inner edges. Large, expressive eyes set obliquely and well apart, almond in shape with colour still developing from muddy tones. Dark line surrounded by lighter spectacles accentuating her alert look. Elegant neck to medium sized body of good weight, level back, proportionate length legs and slightly large oval paws to grow into. Tufts starting to develop between the toes. Good length tail to balance body, broad at base and gently tapering to tip and with a well developed brush. Soft and fine but fluffy kitten coat at present with some length developing. Noticeable ruff and breeches yet to develop. Sorrel Silver Somali with paleish cinnamon ticking at present against a silvery white base colour with silvery white, chest, tummy, and inside of legs. Pale cinnamon colour to ear tips and tufts, pencil lines around eyes, on cheeks, top and tip of tail and slightly up the heels. Lovely temperament.

EGYPTIAN MAU ADULT FEMALE

 1 CC & BOB McRAE’S MESKHENET HOT DOTTY 78 30s F 26.10.09

Nearly ten month old very well grown young lady. Nicely balanced head with slightly rounded wedge of medium length and very good breadth. Pleasing profile shows gentle contour with slight rise from bridge to forehead and down neck. Uniform width down nose to gently rounded muzzle. Level bite and fair depth chin. Medium sized ears, broad at base, slightly pointed, set well back and cupped forward to follow outer line of head. Lovely large, rounded almond shaped eyes set straight under a level brow with a lovely expression and gooseberry green in colour. Medium to longer body, firm and muscular, well balanced and deceptively weighty. Elegant proportionate legs and small rounded paws. Medium length tail, thicker at base and tapering gently towards tip. Medium length, close lying coat with a good sheen to it. Silver Egyptian Mau of bright silver ground colour with clear black markings and no tarnishing. Clear facial markings with ‘M’ on forehead, complex scarab over top of head breaking into spots along spine. Pencil lines on cheeks. I would prefer stronger frown markings for perfection. Excellent, clear small black spotting, tiny spots over shoulders and spine line broken into spots, broken necklaces, part bracelets on legs with spots on lower legs all the way down to her toes. Black stripe down banded tail with a dark tip. A really lovely girl with the temperament to match.
