CHESTER & NORTH WALES CAT CLUB SHOW 14TH AUGUST 2010 JUDGES REPORT: JEAN HUYTONHOUSEHOLD PET SECTIONThank you to Peter and Chris for the invitation to judge and to Brenda Gray for coming especially to steward for me. The presentation and grooming of the exhibits was of a very high quality and it was a shame so many classes had several cats of equal quality making the decision so difficult and leaving good cats cardless. OPENS Class 804a AC NON-PEDIGREE MASTER CAT (GRAND) MALE1st and GMC Jackson’s GMC SIMBAA lovely big long hair ginger cat with complementary pale amber eyes and a fabulous temperament, purring all the time. He was groomed to perfection and excellently presented. Class 804b AC NON-PEDIGREE MASTER CAT (GRAND) FEMALE1st and GMC Dale’s MC RUBY ROSEWhat a big lass, obviously likes her food. Her black coat absolutely gleamed and it is so difficult to present a black cat in such excellent condition. We had a few problems getting her out, she wasn’t difficult just rather a large cat to manoeuvre, especially when she thought it might be a good idea to stay put. Well worthy of her GMC. Class 815a AC PEDIGREE PET GRAND MASTER CAT (IMPERIAL) MALE1st & Imperial GMC Bower’s GMC SANJAYNow I’d heard about this lovely SH Brown Marbled Tabby but never met him until today and it was such a pleasure. His markings are absolutely stunning and what a fabulous temperament, making him so very easy to handle. His slight ear damage is so easy to overlook in such a wonderful cat, a complete credit to his owner. 2nd & Res Imperial GMC Cowlayshaw’s GMC SMOKEY JOEThis was my steward’s “Cat of the Day” but she’s very biased! Another LH cat groomed to absolute perfection, this time an amber-eyed Blue, and another whopper with very large feet. Such a shame he met Sanjay today. Class 815b AC PEDIGREE PET GRAND MASTER CAT (IMPERIAL) FEMALE1st & Imperial GMC Swingler’s GMC VELVETWell this Brown Ticked Tortie Tabby and I have met before and I knew she had a lovely temperament but today that temperament was turned up a notch, perhaps she realized the award at stake was an Imperial and did she work for it… On persistence alone she would have got the Imperial but she’s got such a fabulous temperament, our only problem was getting her to go back into the pen, an absolute impossibility, every time we put her back she was so fast back out again to give us more affection. An absolute delight and kept us amused for a while trying to get her back. To her it must have been a great game. 2nd & Res Imperial GMC Bower’s GMC TallulahThis mature blue tortie & white rex coated cat today sadly couldn’t compete with Velvet. I met her about 14 months ago and today she was a little under par compared to that first meeting but she’s 12 years old and taking everything into account she is a credit to her owner. Class 807a GINGER/AC TORTIE/TORTIE-TABBY WITH OR WITHOUT WHITE LH OR SLH NON-PEDIGREE PET MALEEntered for BOB Only Jackson’s GMC SIMBA (BOB awarded)Class 807b GINGER/AC TORTIE/TORTIE-TABBY WITH OR WITHOUT WHITE LH OR SLH NON-PEDIGREE PET FEMALE1st & MC Roberts’ GWENNOA very big wriggler of a cat. A LH blue cream and white lady with padding paws, who enjoyed being judged. Her white patches were extremely white and her grooming and presentation were excellent. A close call for BOB, but Simba just had the edge. Class 813 AC LH/SLH NON-PEDIGREE KITTEN1st and BOB Jackson’s BISSIE LIZZIEJust one entered but an absolutely delightful little brown tortie tabby baby who purred throughout and rolled over. She did an excellent meerkat impression for my steward, although perhaps she was interested in what was going on elsewhere. When you are a baby at a show I am sure everything is of interest. Class 818 AC TABBY OF ANY PATERN (WITHOUT OR WITHOUT WHITE) LH OR SLH PEDIGREE PETEntered for BOB only and BOB awarded. Wareing’s GMC LEOI was sorry to have to leave this lad cardless in the Imperial Class early in the day as he was well worthy of an award. A very large SLH Brown Mackerel Tabby with very large body and paws who was excellently groomed and filled his double pen. He had a very laid back temperament and was easy to handle. Class 821 AC SELF (WITH OR WITHOUT WHITE) SH PEDIGREE ADULT1st & MC & BOB Buckley’s DUDIVery small blue of Oriental type but also very leggy, very chatty and very friendly. What more could I ask for?? Class 824a AOC COLOUR (WITH OR WITHOUT WHITE) SH PEDIGREE ADULT MALE1st MC & BOB Entwistle’s SUNDUST STARRA very large and heavy SH Apricot point cat with stunning blue eyes but everything was in proportion. He was very relaxed and very easy to judge. Well worthy of his BOB Class 824b AOC COLOUR (WITH OR WITHOUT WHITE) SH PEDIGREE ADULT FEMALE 1st & MC Riley’s AMBERA really nice chunky red point colourpointed of British type with stunning blue eyes. Very easy to handle and excellently groomed and presented. MISCELLANEOUS Class 830 FRIENDLIEST NEUTER OR KITTEN1st Swingler’s GMC VELVET– this class is absolutely made for her! 2nd Akehurst’s BORRISS– A patched brown/silver tabby and white baby with a white tip on the end of his tail, I couldn’t quite make up my mind whether it was brown or silver. Purred all the way through. A lovely little lad Penny, you will miss him when he goes! 3rd Cowlayshaw’s GMC SMOKEY JOE Class 832 BEST GROOMED LH/SLH NEUTER OR KITTENDifficult one this as all the cats today were extremely well groomed. 1st Agar’s FIGAROThis cat certainly had a few impolite words to utter but as the class was for best groomed he was the winner. 2nd Jackson’s GMC SIMBA3rd Waring’s GMC LEOClass 838 PRETTIEST FEMALE NEUTER OR KITTEN1st Creaton & Walker’s IGMC RAINBOW DREAMCATCHER (TICA QGM)Quite the right class for her, she certainly is one of the prettiest cats. A dominant SH Tortie and White cat with a white tip on her ear and a black beauty spot. Some times you cannot match prettiness and temperament but this girl has it all! 2nd Akehurst’s TTA baby version of Dreamcatcher and one of the Akehurst Trio. A very very pretty baby and purring all the time. 3rd Jackson’s BISSIE LIZZIEClass 840 NEUTER OR KITTEN ORIGINALLY A STRAY1st Creaton & Walker’s GMC LITTLEMAN RAFFLESThis lad doesn’t seem to go off with age, bit like a fine wine he matures well. He’s still a large lad with massive paws and how does he keep that white quite so white? He’s been around a long time and he knows the ropes, you walk out of the pen, you sit there and get judged and then you go back… job done and 1st prize! 2nd Akehurst’s BORRISS3rd Jackson’s GISMOA SH ginger spotted tabby with white. Lots of the cats today had a white ear tip and Gismo was no exception to that rule. A delightful cat and excellently presented. Three lovely cats and the fact that they were originally strays is a credit to their owners. Class 842 NEUTER OR KITTEN LIVING OUTSIDE CHESTER AREA1st Creaton & Walker’s GMC LITTLEMAN RAFFLES2nd Richards’ TIRAMISUWhat a fabulous name for this cat, a SH brown and cream spotted tabby with lovely blue eyes and a delightful temperament. A very feminine little cat. It was good to see so many Bengals today with good temperaments. 3rd Plaw’s MC PEPE REINAOh those eyes! A lovely SH Brown Ticked Tabby with the most stunning eyes. Congratulations today on gaining his GMC title. 846 GINGER/GINGER & WHITE/TORTIE/TORTIE & WHITE NEUTER OR KITTEN (RC STAKES)1st Creaton & Walker’s IGMC RAINBOW DREAMCATCHER (TICA QGM)2nd Jackson’s GMC SIMBA3rd Jackson’s GISMO848 AC NEUTER (CHESTER & NW CAT CLUB CLUB CLASS)1st Creaton & Walker’s IGMC RAINBOW DREAMCATCHER (TICA QGM)2nd Entwistle’s SUNDUST STARR3rd Wareing’s GMC LEO849 AC KITTEN (CHESTER & NW CAT CLUB CLUB CLASS)1st Jackson’s BISSIE LIZZIE2nd Akehurst’s SMILERThe third of the Akehurst Trio.
