COVENTRY AND LEICESTER CAT CLUB SHOW 27TH FEBRUARY 2010 JUDGES REPORT MS JANE E. ALLEN

My thanks to Mark, Lesley and the show team for my invitation to judge again this year. A very busy day made complete with Terry White as my steward. The first time we have worked together and I sincerely hope not the last. Thanks for being a great steward and looking after all the cats so well.

AOV SLH CHAMPION MALE

GR CC PULLENS CH DIZZIPAWS ZEMO 66aw

Four entered but only one present but I was very pleased to give Zemo the Grand. A pleasing male, still quite young but for me showing all the desired attributes one is looking for in a Ragdoll. Broad head with a flat plane and nice width between his slightly forward tilting ears. Well developed, rounded cheeks. Medium length nose with gentle dip. Large, well opened eyes, slightly obliquely set and of nice sound blue colour. Long, well filled body with super tone. Medium length legs with good boning. Large, firm paws. Long bush tail slightly tapering. His coat was dense and quite silky in texture. Points were greyish blue and matching well. Bluish white body colouring and he was very well shown and very good to handle.

AOV SLH CHAMPION FEMALE

I was very happy to rejudge the class and this reflects my new placings.

GR CC FISHLOCK-LOMAX CH ADAELO REINE LECHATEAU 67 31ets

A stylish NFC with super triangular head with all sides equal. Large ears set well on her head following the lines of her head and nicely furnished. Expressive eyes, large and oval and set obliquely. Straight profile with nice depth of chin that balances nicely. Long body and tail, high on the leg and with good body weight. Her coat was semi long and developing nice undercoat, her top coat was coarser and with glossy guardhairs. Very well presented and nice to handle.

RES GR CC ATKINSONS CH KATMEA BOBBIE BROWN 64 41

I also liked this Maine Coon too, she was very nicely balanced with large upright ears that were well tufted and tipped! High, wide cheeks with large, expressive slightly oblique set eyes. Shallow concave curve in profile with firm chin and nice squareness to her muzzle. Long body and tail with good classic tabby patterning. Generally well shown but she lacked a ruff to give her that finish.

AC SELKIRK REX PREMIER MALE

GR PR WALKERS PR AMAZOLOU THE NEW SCHMOO 79S/39d

I just loved this boy and was so pleased to give him the grand premier on the day! Gorgeous head type with lovely round head, medium sized ears spaced well apart on his head. Round expressive pale orange eyes. Medium width muzzle with lovely padded whisker pads. Short nose with the desired downward slant. Firm well developed chin. Cobby body with medium length, well boned legs and round paws. His coat was thick and dense. Random curls giving a soft, plush feel to his coat. In excellent condition and so sweet to handle.

BROWN/BLUE TABBY/TABBY AND WHITE MAINE COON ADULT MALE

1 CC BOB WOODCOCKS BEARDWOOD LEONARDO DAVINCI 64 41w

Only eleven months but this boy had the overall balance and appearance that just oozed Maine Coon! Lovely large, high set ears with the correct width between and with lavish furnishings. Wide, high cheek bones with good width to length proportions. Expressive, large slightly obliquely shaped eyes. Medium length uniform width nose with shallow concave curve in profile with firm chin to form a very nice square muzzle. Long body that was well filled and of super tone. Long, well boned limbs with short, rounded powerful paws that were nicely tufted. Long, well furnished tail. His coat was very well shown and showing great clarity of classic tabby patterning with lovely warm tones to his undercoat. Very well shown.

 2 BENTS ADATELO TEDDYBEAR 64/44w

I loved the head type of this boy, very masculine but for me his ears were too widely set and try as we might he would not hold them up. His coat was also not very clearly marked, but I am sure that as the season develops and his coat clears this will be a different story. A very well grown male who was good tohandle.

3 HUNTERS MAJANCO OH WHAT AGEM 64 41w

Just the baby of the class at just over ninemonths! He needs some time to develop his head balance, at present I found his head a little short in the lower half of the muzzle. Large, high set ears that had good width between them. Expressive large eyes. Uniform width nose that had a slight bump in profile. Chin needing to develop further to give him the real squareness of muzzle required. I did like the super classic tabby patterning, just a little cold in colour as yet. But as I said he is so young with plenty of time to develop.

BROWN/BLUE TABBY/TABBY AND WHITE MAINE COON ADULT FEMALE

 1CC LENDONS CARMOND BLUE BELLA 64 20a

Ran the male very close indeed for best of breed, I really liked the maturity and balance of this girl, at 3 and a half years old she has a fantastic head balance with wonderful width and high cheeks. bones. Large expressive eyes that were slightly obliquely set. I felt she had good ear size but held them slightly lower than I would have preferred. Super slight concave curve in profile with strong, square muzzle and firm chin. Mature, long body with lovely weight. Long, well boned limbs with strong, round paws. Long well furnished tail. Her coat was super blue colouring with warm mush room ground colouring. Classic markings were quite clear. Very wel l shown and calm, serene manner.

2 BENTS COLOURDALE FANTASIA 64 41w

This girl was almost 3 years old and I did not feel she had the same quality in her head type or coat. She was also lacking coat that did not do herself justice on the day.

AOC MAINE COON ADULT MALE

1 CC WITHHELD GIBBONS SHOOKATOO SOLDIER BLU 64 16 6.5.09

Young male who was just not ready for the big boys class on the day. Physically I felt he was on the small side and generally needed a little more weight and condition. He was not overly confident which did not help him. His head rather lacked length and needed much more squareness to the muzzle. He is only just over 9 months and I hope that he continues to grow and develop.

AOC MAINE COON ADULT FEMALE

1 CC LAKES KATEMAZ VODKA ICE 64 14c

11 month old female with very promising head type. Large ears set high on her head. High cheek bones with quite good width to her head and face. Large, expressive eyes that were slightly obliquely set. Slight concave curve in profile with lovely squareness to muzzle and a firm chin. Long body and tail that needs to develop further in depth as she matures. Super coat that was very well shown.

2 JOINERS JEMAHAN GINGER SPYCE 64 41e

This girl was more mature at 2 years of age with generally nice head type. Large ears quite well set on her head and well furnished. Nice breadth to her head with high cheeks. Slight concave curve in profile with firm chin and quite a good strength to her muzzle. Long body and tail that just lacked a little in length and density. Well shown.

 3 HORTONS RUTTERKIN FANNY BYGASLIGHT 64 41ew

Only ten months old and I really liked this youngster and honestly thought she would be the winner in this class. However, I was not happy with her bite and felt that she was slightly undershot that was confirmed by the duty vet. I can but pray this is a developmental issue with her as she is truly lovely with the most vibrant coat colouring. So attractive and a confident youngster.

RED/CREAM/TORTIE GROUP BIRMAN KITTEN MALE

1 BOB BAILEYS NICADEMUS DANSE DEFEU 13c5 23.6.09

Mature and stylish kitten with a strong, broad skull. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. His cheeks were nicely rounded and tapered to a well developed muzzle. Medium sized ears that were placed well apart on his skull. Almost round eyes of strong blue colour. Very promising long body with lovely substance. Medium length legs with good boning and short, strong paws. Bushy tail that was in proportion to his body. Strong red points almost matching with very good pale cream body colouring. Very good feet markings with his gloves white to the angle of paw and leg, white socks and his gauntlets were matching, tapering to just below the hock. A very harmonious well grown young man.

 2 BAILEYS NICADEMUS PERRY PIZZAZZ 13c5 1.11.09

I also really liked this much younger kitten who had such a confident nature. Strong broad head with his ears well set on his skull. Almost round eyes of a promising sound blue developing. Medium length nose with a slight bump in the profile just below the slight dip. Good firm chin making a well developed muzzle. Long body with nice weight and medium length legs. His tail in proportion to his body developing the bushy furnishings. Still rather a kitten coat as yet but with some silky feel to the pale cream colouring. His points were developing a strong red tone, especially on his mask. His feet markings were also very good, with his gloves white to the angle of paw and leg, white socks and his gauntlets although slightly narrow were matching and tapered to just below the hock. Very well shown.

RED/CREAM/TORTIE GROUP BIRMAN KITTEN FEMALE

1 NICADEMUS TRANQUILITYWISH 13c6 20.7.09

I can see why her owner would wish for some tranquillity – what a live wire she is!! Very stylish young lady with good broad head with nice roundness with full cheeks tapering to a strong muzzle and chin. Her medium sized ears were well set apart on her skull. Almost round eyes of lovely deep blue I would have just liked them set slightly further apart. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Very well grown lass with long body and medium length legs with strong, short paws. Tail in proportion to her body nice and bushy and showing all colours. Her coat was long and silky and shown so well. She had a lovely ruff to frame her head. Her mask was showing seal brown with shades of light and dark red. Her front legs were mainly shades of red but there was a small amount of seal in her inner left front leg and her front right had a small amount of seal colouring on the outer side. Her hind legs were showing all colours. Her white gloves were almost to the angle of the paw and leg with the right one showing white to the stopper pad. White socks with her gauntlets not quite matching but to ¾ up hock, the left one slightly hooked to the left but still on the back of her leg.

 TABBY/TORTIE TABBY BIRMAN KITTEN

1, BOB withheld BROWNS SARMOYAH DALTEEMA ZIRCON 13c17 2.8.09

I was sorry to withhold best of breed on this kitten but at the current stage of his development I felt his chin was very shallow and threw the balance of his head completely. Very nice breadth to the top of his head with full cheeks but then the strength was just not there to balance around his lower jaw and chin. Medium sized ears set well apart. Almost round sound mid blue eyes. Medium length nose with a slight dip in profile. Long, large body that was well filled and with nicely boned medium length legs and strong, short paws. His bushy tail was in proportion to his body. His tabby markings were well defined with the M on his forehead and spectacles around his eyes and faint spotted whisker pads. Faint thumb prints on his ears. Pale rings to his legs and tail. His body colouring was off white with the slight hint of a golden hue. His gloves were white to just below the angle of paw and leg, white socks. His gauntlets were slightly tapering to half way up his hocks and matched well. Very well show, confident young male. I do hope that his lower half of the face strengthens as he develops further.

SILVER TABBY SERIES MAINE COON NEUTER

BOB ONLY GRANTS PR MABALAKAT SILVER SURFER 64 41sw

How this boy had matured since I had him last, a most impressive lad really lovely balance to his head. Substantial frame with lovely clarity of classic silver tabby patterning. Very well shown.

AC JUNIOR MALE

 a wonderful class of boys!

1 MORRIS GR CH COUNTRYGIRL GRAPEVINE 4

I had the pleasure of awarding him the imperial in January and I cannot add further superlatives to that, he continues to be for me the Persian standard personified. Gorgeous male in fantastic condition.

2 HACKINGS BALOOBOO SWEET SUCCESS 1

Only 10 months old but this baby boy is certainly one to watch too, he has all the quality and balance that I would look for in a top ranking Persian boy, he just was up against the winner and that was a tough decision to have to make. He will have his day I am sure.

 3 DAYS DAYZEE JUSTINTYME 12a5

Another wonderful male who also deserved a top placing – I felt very honoured to judge the outstanding collection of boys!

AC JUNIOR FEMALE

1 GRIFFITHS NYKLANI FREYA OFJUBIL 12/1

Another recently reported on and still remaining a favourite of mine, wonderful head type and balance with a very nicely presented coat.

 2 WALLS CH SHEERBLISS ARABELLA 70 21/1

I also like this little girl very much, the deciding factor was she is just not quite so mature facially as Freya, and that was my deciding factor.

AV PERSIAN CAT/KITTEN/NEUTER BORN IN MAY

 1 TONKS GR CH ZENDIQUE U’VEBEEN TANGOED 70 12A5t

Gorgeous male with a very balanced and pleasing expression. Wonderfully wide head with neat, low set ears. Smooth skull with large, wide set copper eyes. Short nose with deep break surrounded by wide, sweeping cheeks. Good bite and firm chin. Lovely cobby frame with short, well boned limbs. Short rounded tail to finish. Fantastic classic tabby patterning with rich red colouring against a paler red ground colour. The white was sparkling and well defined. Thick, dense upstanding coat that was so well shown. Handled well.

AV MAIDEN SLH FEMALE

1 WESTWOODS FARISLE FANCY FAIR 66

Seal Colourpointed Ragdoll. Pretty female with a broad head with flat plane, her ears which are medium in size and spaced well apart. Eyes are large, well opened, and slightly oblique and a medium shade of blue. Nose is medium in length with adequate dip. Good bite. Cheeks nicely rounded. Dense matching seal points. Her body is long and well filled with medium sized legs and large tufted paws. Her beige coat was nicely prepared, of a good length with very slight surface shading on shoulders and flanks. Full ruff and knickerbockers. Tail long, reaching the shoulders and tapering towards the tip. Very well shown and sweet to handle.

AV DEBUTANTE SLH KITTEN MALE OR FEMALE

 1 GROUTAGE LADYDOLL SOCRATES 66/31a

I liked this young male very much. Attractive blue bi colour ragdoll with nice breadth to his head flat plane to forehead and medium sized ears set wide apart with a slight forward tilt. Large eyes with a strong depth of blue, obliquely set, as yet a little shallow on his chin. Soft silky coat bluish white in tone with an even triangle to face, white to chin, chest and underparts, back legs white to body, soft greyish blue points, body bluish white.

2 SALMON MENTOBE COTTON CLOUD 13c2

5 months Pleasing, female with strong, broad head with medium length nose and a slight dip in profile. Full cheeks tapering to a nicely developed muzzle. I felt the length was just about adequate. Almost round sound blue eyes. Medium sized ears set apart on her skull. Promising length of body and nice substance. Medium length legs with strong short paws. Tail, bushy, in proportion to her body. Well shown, silky coat texture bluish white in tone. Her points were matching well and blue-grey in colour. Her right glove dipped slightly and there was some colour encroaching on her toe, white socks and almost matching gauntlets. Well shown.

3 BAXTERS ESAYA BWYTCHING-ELMARLAY 82 15

A very stylish Siberian with great type and lovely coat.

AV SLH CAT/KITTEN/NEUTER BORN IN MARCH

1 WOODS COONARIA COOL RUNNINGS 64 41w

Stylish young man of 10 months. I liked his balance and head type. Couple with that he had the most lovely coat patterning and his white really stood out well. Pleasant to handle a very promising male.

2 ASHWORTHS UK GR CH & UK GR PR EMERISLE DIAMANTE 66/31

This lady is one of my favourites and was looking very lovely today too, hard lines to come up against the youngster
