COVENTRY & LEICESTER CAT CLUB, 21. 02. 10 Margaret Baker

Many thanks to Mark and Committee for inviting me back. I was happy to have Mark and Isabel's son Steven as my steward, and thank him for his assistance and his good company. We had some gorgeous cats to handle.

AV ORIENTAL CHAMPION MALE

GR CC, CASSAR-SIMMONDS' CH FIORDILISO INFIDELITY, 29, 13mths.

Elegant boy with a lovely playful personality. Fine wedge and large well set ears. Lime green oriental eyes with soulful expression. Profile almost straight, in fact it described a long slow outward curve which was not unattractive. Shallow even chin, bite perfect. Long neck and muscled body, long elegant legs, super long tapered tail. Glistening well conditioned brown coat, paler towards the roots but true toned, a trace of ghost striping around the hind legs.

AV ORIENTAL CHAMPION FEMALE

GR CC w/h. 1, SHARP-POPPLE'S CH DENSON LOUISIANA, 29, 2yrs. 5mths.

Medium length wedge showing a slight pinch. Large pointed ears held a fraction high. Nicely spaced lime green oriental eyes. Fairly straight profile, chin deep enough but unevenly shaped, bite (checked more than once) overshot. Pleasing neck and body lines, long legs and oval paws, long fine tail. Coat in lovely condition and good texture, again paling towards the roots but in tone, a little ghost striping on hind legs.

AV ORIENTAL IMPERIAL GRAND PREMIER MALE

IMP, HALLIDAY'S GR PR TOGHAR MIDNITE MAJIK, 37, 2yrs. 4mths.

A real black panther of excellent quality. Long well balanced wedge with large flared ears perfectly set to balance. Beautiful eyes of lime green with deeper green at centre, and a majestic how-dare-you expression. Very good profile adding to the look of nobility, firm chin, bite meeting a little unevenly. Long elegant body and limbs, a lovely tall cat, long fine whip tail. Coat smooth and sound, gleaming like washed coal.

RES IMP w/h. 2, LOWELL'S GR PR SUSPIRIA WILLIAM BECKFORD, 37k, 2yrs. 10mths.

Large, calm and very likeable boy just lacking in style for this high award, and he had to follow a very good act. Short to medium wedge without finesse. Good straight profile, firm chin and excellent bite, but in side view the head was even a little chunky for an Oriental. Quite large lime green eyes and well set ears of adequate size. Rather heavy body but elegant limbs and long fine tail. Soft close lying coat, rather dark warm cinnamon, sound to roots. He needs to lose some weight to look his best, and I know how hard that can be!

AV ORIENTAL IMPERIAL GRAND PREMIER FEMALE

IMP, WEAVER'S GR PR FOXYDALE TILLY BUTTERCUP, 37d, 1yr. 8mths.

Long fine wedge with even lines. Large wide based ears attractively flared. Wide spaced eyes with oriental slant, bright ginger-green. Slight bump over profile, even chin, bite not terribly tidy but basically meeting. Long neck set on medium sized well toned body, with long fine legs and tail. Sound close coat of a lovely rich vibrant red with minimal marking. She hissed her disapproval but it was only hot air.

AC SIAMESE/BALINESE CHAMPION MALE

GR CC, WILLIAMS' GR CH POLLYBEE LORD-ROYSTERER, 24c, 2yrs. 2mths.

Shy and unsure of himself. When we could calm him he showed a strong head with good profile and even well shaped wedge. Firm deep chin, bite acceptable. Beautiful sapphire eyes with soulful expression. Excellent ear set and flare. Long body with strong physique, long legs and lovely tail with fine taper. Flawless close coat like a fitted glove, delicate pale lilac points.

RES GR CC, TONKINSON'S GR CH TENAJ STAR RYDER, 32/1, 8yrs. 3mths.

A handsome boy at 8 years, almost leonine head with excellent profile and depth of chin. Medium bright blue eyes of oriental shape, large ears well set to balance. Long neck, firm muscular body which he stretched out happily, long legs and excellent whip tail with thorough rings. He was always shaded down the back but seems to have grown a bit lighter! A hood is threatening but he still has a pale spot of contrast on top. Clearly marked head with almost double eye ribbons, strong thumbmarks. Lovely equable temperament.

AC SIAMESE/BALINESE CHAMPION FEMALE

GR CC, JONES' CH SARAMESE GOODLUCKCHARM, 29c, 18mths 1wk.

Dainty girl, very hard to examine as she objected and wriggled so hard. She was rather petite, ideally I would have liked her a bit more substantial but I awarded as she had all the essentials. Fine even wedge, well set ears of excellent size, good profile. Chin just set back a fraction but had adequate depth. Bite was quite acceptable though it took a lot of persuasion to get a look at it! Bright blue expressive eyes of good shape and spacing. Long elegant neck and body, fine legs, neat paws. Tapered tail of balanced length. Soft sleek close lying coat contrasting attractively with lilac mask, ears and tail, paler legs.

BROWN BURMESE ADULT MALE

1 CC, BRIDGES' SANLIS JUST CRUZIN', 9mths. 2wks.

Commanding broad head, a bit flat over the brow, width at cheek bones. Balanced ear size with forward tilt. Strong blunt muzzle, good nose break and strong chin, bite slightly scissored. Eyes of excellent shape and spacing, chartreuse tone. Medium length to the body which was firm and muscular. Shapely limbs, tapered tail could do with a fraction more length. Sleek warm brown coat, short and fine.

2, WARD'S COOMAKISTA BAZILLE, 18mths. 3wks.

Lovely short broad wedge with blunt muzzle. Wide top of head, ears well spaced but a bit tall. Nose break could be more distinct, chin was fairly deep. Eyes light greenish-gold, he looked rather sleepy and had a tendency to squint. Body of good size and weight, sturdy legs, neat oval paws. Tail on the short side, had rounded tip and a touch of stud tail near the root. Coat of very nice colour but feeling a wee bit coarse down the back.

BROWN BURMESE ADULT FEMALE

CC w/h. 1, COLLIN'S AUREUS SWEET JULIET, 16mths. 3wks.

Lovely width to head with gently rounded top between ears of good shape and set. Good definite nose break and firm chin. Large eyes of excellent shape and spacing, but very pale and dull. Pupils had blue rims and the iris had greyish overtones with little sign of yellow. It may be that this cat's eye colour reacts to different light, but it was impossible to move her near to daylight, and unfortunately under the conditions in which I judged her on the day I honestly felt she did not conform to the SOP in this respect. Quite a substantial body but well muscled, with elegant limbs and a slightly short tail tapered to tip. Rich dark brown coat like a satin glove, paler on the underparts. Well proportioned overall and as sweet natured as her name implies.

2, BRIDGES' SANLIS PIZAZZ, 9mths. 2wks.

A female version of the male CC winner, who of course was her litter brother. Very good wedge shape with width to head, a bit flat over the brow. Well spaced ears of good size and shape, likewise good profile and chin. Chartreuse yellow eyes with a furious Burmese expression. I could not see the bite as she was busy trying it out on my fingers. She might have been the pick of the class but she was very unsettled from the word go and eventually became too upset to allow further examination.

BOB to YARDLEY'S CH PAPAGENA XWEET CICELY, 2yrs. 5mths.

I apologise for having no notes on this lady, I recall her as being elegant and balanced with a nice finish to her.

LILAC BURMESE ADULT

1 CC, TARBUCK'S CH MOLLYROSSI STARBUCK, F, 2yrs. 5mths.

A bit apprehensive. She had a wide wedge with blunt muzzle, rather flat forehead and well set ears. Good nose break, rather shallow chin, bite even enough. Large lustrous eyes with well rounded lower rims. Body tending to heaviness but felt firm, neck in balance, well shaped legs and oval paws. Tail of adequate length but whippy in type. Lovely texture to lilac coat which was close lying.

BOB to WILSHAW'S GR CH ROSSIKHAN CENTREFOLD, F, 2yrs. 3mths.

Charming head with excellent lines and blunt muzzle, beautifully shaped green-golden eyes, body of good weight and strength. I selected her on type but have to add that she was rather small in size.

HAVANA ADULT MALE

1 CC & BOB, CASSAR-SIMMONDS' CH FIORDILISO INFIDELITY,

judged in Grand class.

HAVANA ADULT FEMALE

1 CC, SHARP-POPPLE'S CH DENISON LOUISIANA

ORIENTAL CINNAMON ADULT

CC w/h. 1, HUDSON'S SHADOWSQUAD GOINGFORGOLD, F, 10mths 3wks.

Finely built and stylish young lady, with quite a long wedge and fine muzzle. Good profile and depth of chin, bite a bit overshot. Gorgeous flyaway ears, wide set and flared. Eyes of beautiful oriental shape, bright lime green, widely spaced. Elegant neck and body of fine structure, slim legs and long fine tail. Withheld because although coat was of lovely texture and a warm spicy colour, it was unsound on her sides, being white at the roots in places.

ORIENTAL BLACK NEUTER

1 PC & BOB, HALLIDAY'S GR PR TOGHAR MIDNITE MAJIK

ORIENTAL CINNAMON NEUTER

1 PC & BOB, LOWELL'S GR PR SUSPIRIA WILLIAM BECKFORD

BLUE POINT SIAMESE NEUTER

1 PC & BOB, JOHNSON'S ADINOAM JUST ABOUTME, MN, 12mths. 2wks.

Very shy and found it hard to relax. He had a lovely head shape with excellent ear set flattering the wedge lines. Well set and shaped expressive eyes which could be a touch deeper colour. Good profile and chin, bite satisfactory though difficult to examine. Long neck and firm athletic body, long elegant legs, whip tail of good length. Coat short and close texture, rather shaded but the correct tone of blue.

2, SAVAGE'S PR ADQUAAM MTOTO KIDOGO, MN, 13yrs. 8mths.

Marvellous old timer! He still seemed to enjoy meeting people. Long even wedge, ears of good size held a bit high. Dip on profile, long straight nose, even chin. Eyes a bit deep set but a reasonable size and shape, pupils very dilated. Commendable size and stretch to the neck and body, which was nice and firm feeling. Long legs and oval feet, tail fine and adequate length. Heavily shaded close lying coat which still showed up true blue points. A perfect gentleman, it was a pleasure to meet him. In my miscellaneous classes I met another lovely blue point Siamese who is well worthy of a mention, GILLEN'S OWAISSA SPIRITOFTHEMIST. She is a daughter of Gr Ch Saralou Kidnapper who was bred in Ireland. I hope there are more where she came from.
