KENTISH Cat Society Show – 17 Oct 09. Report by Mrs. Dorothy A STONE.

Many thanks HELEN, SEAN & SUE for so kindly inviting me to judge at this super show, also for the hospitality the night before. As usual the Halloween theme was great fun & I enjoyed dressing up as a “She-Devil” but whilst it was disappointed that Di Brown & I seemed to be the only judges who had bothered, it was great to see Committee members, exhibitors & stall holders entering into the spirit (please pardon the pun)! I really liked the new venue with its excellent natural lighting & it appeared to draw an excellent gate of visitors who seemed enthralled by seeing so many lovely cats under one roof. Grateful thanks to SUE PENFOLD making her debut as a steward today. You are a natural Sue & I hope you enjoyed handling such varied breeds as much as I did & hope we’ll work together again soon. I also had the pleasure of judging BoV Burmese Kitten which I awarded to a very promising Choc Tortie girl, BLOOMERS BLING OF IRREP owned by Peri Hutchison & bred by Patti Tegg – congratulations ladies!

TONKINESE KITTEN.

1 present. 1st (Sorry, BoB not awarded)

MACEY’s FECHELDEE SOPHIE. 74p Female. 7 months.

Moderate wedge showing a slight teething pinch today has good width to top of head that could be more rounded, well defined whisker pinch, muzzle is quite rounded. Profile shows rounding to brow, slightly flat forehead, nose that has bluish fawn coloured leather has required slight break, chin is extremely shallow & is set back thus is out of alignment with tip of nose, level bite. Broad based ears with oval tips are pricked forward but too large & set a little too high on top of the head. Deep set eyes with the colour still developing (currently golden yellow with a hunt of blue) are rimmed in bluish fawn, of good size but have mucky corners, are spaced well apart but are in an Oriental setting, the upper line of lids however have required slant toward the nose whilst the line of the lower lids is more rounded. Well grown lass has medium length muscular body of good weight, straight back, rounded chest, slender muscular legs, neat oval paws have bluish fawn pads, medium length tail has a rounded (not tapered) tip & is neither too thick nor too whippy. Caramel Tortie coat is close-lying but too long (& particularly so on her underside), open, sticky & rather greasy feeling, is of cool-toned bluish fawn well tortied with varying shades of apricot, the points are slightly darker & merge well with the body colour; she has an apricot coloured ‘M’ shape on her forehead. Whilst in good physical condition I felt that on this occasion she lacked show preparation added to which she was not in the happiest frame of mind (hormonal mayhap?) thus failed to show to her best advantage. I debated long & hard about withhold 1st prize but decided to give her the benefit of the doubt today.

LILAC BURMESE MALE ADULT.

2 present.

1st & CC MOORE’s Ch MOONGAZER MONSOON. 11 months, 2 weeks.

Short blunt jowly wedge of good width, super dome, mobile ears that he was flattening with terror are well sized, shaped & set. Profile shows rounded brow & forehead, distinct break, deep level chin & level bite. Large primrose yellow eyes with mucky corners are well shaped, set & have typical expression. Large adolescent lad looking very mature for his age but looking a little long backed & unbalanced still has well muscled body of good weight, shapely limbs, tail is of good shape & length balances. Quality coat with silky feel & lustrous sheen is a little bluish in colour but is even & has the required pink hue. A very sweet tho’ sadly absolutely petrified chap of good type who would benefit considerably by more socialization.

2nd JENNER-PESCADOR’s MACOYS PESCADORABLE HENRI. 15 mths, 3 wks.

Good width to short blunt wedge, gentle rounding to wide top of head, medium sized ears are well shaped but set too high on top of head thus fail to follow line of wedge. Profile shows rounded brow & forehead, well defined break, chin is shallow & receding thus is not in the same plane with tip of nose, level bite. Well sized Primrose yellow eyes that seem close-set owing to him having a wider than average bridge of nose, are of incorrect shape – the line of the upper lids slant too acutely towards the nose thus fails to give the required expression. Masculine chap of good size has well shaped & muscled body of good weight, sturdy legs, neat oval paws, tail with a lovely paintbrush tip is too thick but is of good length thus balances body. Fabulous sprayed-on coat with satin texture & sheen is of the loveliest even pink-hued faded dove grey. A sweet, chatty chap in good condition who needs time to mature.

LILAC BURMESE FEMALE ADULT.

2 present (+ 2 for BoB only).

BoB to Chris Bone’s gorgeous Ch SYKRIS DÉJÀ VU

who I was delighted to see later became Best Burmese Adult then Best Burmese Exhibit – very well done!

1st & CC BONE’s SYKRIS POETRYINMOTION. 14 months, 3 weeks.

Just the tiniest bit immature still – Short wedge of good width is slightly fine in the muzzle, lovely width to gently rounded top of head, large ears are well shaped & set. Profile shows rounded brow & forehead, acceptable break, chin is level but shallow, level bite. Large lustrous Buttercup yellow eyes enhanced with mascara are well shaped, set & have that unique smouldering scowl! Elegant young lady of good size & weight has well shaped body with the required muscular athletic feel, shapely limbs, tapering tail balances. Quality glossy coat is of beautifully even mother-of-pearl pink but has slight contrast on her mask & ears. Shown in splendid condition she gave her chum mentioned above quite a run for her money – fear not – her day will come!

2nd RANSOM’s Ch MAINMAN KISSTASTIC. 2 yrs, 3 mths.

Correct wedge, top of head & ears. Profile shows rounded brow & forehead, well defined break to aquiline nose that has a bump, chin has depth but is set back thus is out of alignment with tip of nose, bite is level. Expressive yellow-chartreuse eyes enhanced with mascara are well sized, shaped & set. Mature, stylish queen of good size, weight & conformation has required hard muscular feel, slender muscular legs, pretty oval paws, well shaped tail balances. Short sleek coat with highly polished finish has satin texture but is rather glacial in colour lacking the required pink tone & has some bluish contrast on her mask & ears. A lovely lady with the sweetest disposition in splendid physical condition & very well prepared who was most unlucky to meet winner today – it was a headache to separate them. I should like to see her again sometime, please.

CREAM BURMESE MALE ADULT.

1 present.

1st & CC DELL’s Ch KUPRO CREAM SALIX. 17 months, 1 week.

Immature head type as yet – fairly short wedge of acceptable width looking rather square in the muzzle, slightly flat top of head with slipped crown is just wide enough, large well shaped ears are well set when relaxed. Profile shows rounding to rather heavy brow, slightly long sloping forehead, acceptable break, deep level chin, level bite. Rather deep set Buttercup yellow eyes are of good size but broader than average bridge of nose makes them seem close-set & slant to upper lids is too acute thus mars the expression. Rangy adolescent lad of good size who could be somewhat heavier & more muscular, is rather immature & unbalanced at present, well shaped legs, neat oval paws, well shaped tail balances. Short, fine rather open coat (he was feeling chilly) with silky feel & healthy shine is of even but very dark cream, he has some powdering on his head & back but also has a heavy broken necklace. A sweet gentle chap in good physical condition about whose colour I’m not happy as it will only darken still further as he matures.

CREAM BURMESE FEMALE ADULT.

 1 (+ 1 for BoB only).

1st CC & BoB DELL’s KUPRO CREAM CHIFFON. 4 yrs, 3 mths.

Super width to short blunt wedge, wide slightly flat top of head, large ears are well shaped & set. Profile shows rounding to brow, slightly flat forehead, a really distinct break, lovely deep level chin & level bite. Slightly deep set yellow-chartreuse eyes (she was closing her left) are well sized, shaped, spaced apart & have typical expression. Medium sized mature queen has well shaped & muscled body of good weight, slender muscular legs, pretty oval paws, well shaped tail balances. Quality glossy coat is of the most gorgeous cool cream & has the required “bloom” on top of head, nose, back & paws. Shown in splendid condition I loved this sweet but shy retiring violet who is the best colour I’ve seen for ages – new breeders please take note since this is the correct colour for a Cream!

BROWN BURMESE MN.

1 (+ 1 for BoB only).

1st (PC Not Awarded) TAYLOR’s ZIGON SCARAMOUCHE. 17 months,

Immature head type as yet – fairly short wedge of acceptable width is rather fine in the muzzle at present thus wedge is rather pointed in shape, top of head is flat but of good width, large ears are well shaped & set. Profile shows that skull lacks depth from brow to lower jaw, rounding to brow, flat forehead, distinct break to nose that is too broad & “rolls off” at tip, level chin is just deep enough, level bite. Expressive yellow-chartreuse eyes are slightly deep set but are well sized, shaped & spaced well apart. Immature adolescent lad of good size is looking rather unbalanced still but has well shaped body of good weight with required muscular athletic feel, shapely limbs & tail balances. Short, fine, sleek coat with silky feel & healthy shine is of rather dark brown, has a scattering of white hairs on his neck but also a very noticeable number of white hairs on his throat which I’m afraid constitutes an automatic withholding of the certificate. Sorry to disappoint as he is such an absolute darling & shown in splendid condition – my compliments on his presentation.

BROWN BURMESE FN.

1 for BoB only.

BoB awarded to POWER’s UK Imp Gd Pr MAINMAN BURMASTAR.

A super lady of excellent type & shown in splendid condition thus looking no-where near her 8 years. My compliments to all her connections.

CREAM BURMESE Neuter.

1 present.

It was good to see Jill Buist’s Gd Pr OAKENSHIELD SULTANOFSWING again & looking in fine fettle, I must say; he gave his lady friend mentioned below quite a run for her money!

1st PC & BoB REES’s Pr OAKENSHIELD LOUISANA. FN. 3 years, 1 month.

Super wedge, lovely wide gently rounded top of head, ears are well sized, shaped & set. Profile shows rounded brow & forehead, well defined break, chin recedes and is shallow. Large lustrous Primrose yellow eyes are well shaped set & have that unique expression! Large lady of a certain age has muscular but grossly overweight body thus lacks the required elegance, shapely limbs, well shaped tail is rather thick & I’d prefer it longer to balance. Medium length coat with satin texture & sheen is rather dark in colour but has the required powdering on rounded areas. Shown in good condition but needs fining down for her health’s sake.

AOC TORTIE BURMESE NEUTER.

2 + 2 for BoB only.

BoB awarded to HUTCHISON’s gorgeous Choc Tortie lady Gd Pr HYPNOS TIGERLILYOF IRREP

whom I’ve loved since she was a baby & who I was delighted to see later became Best Burmese Neuter – congratulations to all her connections & well done Peri on getting two into the frame!

1st & PC TAYLOR’s ZIGON QUADRILLE. Choc Tortie. 4 ½ years.

Short blunt wedge of very good width, top of head is rather flat but plenty wide enough, large ears of required shape are well set when relaxed. Profile shows rounding to brow, flattish forehead, distinct break, firm level chin & level bite. Expressive yellow-chartreuse eyes are well sized, shaped & set. Medium sized, mature lady lacking somewhat in substance today, has well shaped & muscled legs, neat oval paws, tail of good shape with several red rings visible is far too short, thus fails to balance. Coat of medium length felt soft & looked “fluffy” but has very good gloss & is of attractively combined warm milk chocolate & varying shades of red. Shown in acceptable condition she was happier when returned to the safety of her pen.

2nd SIMMONS’s KYMIAN ULRICA. Choc Tortie. 20 months, 2 weeks.

Immature head type as yet – fine muzzled wedge could be slightly shorter & wider, gently rounded wide top of head, large ears are well shaped & set. Profile shows rounded brow & forehead, break to long nose needs a little more definition, chin has depth but recedes, level bite. Expressive yellow-chartreuse eyes of good size are spaced well apart but are rather full. Young lady of medium size has rather rangy body of good weight & is well muscled, slender muscular legs, neat oval paws, well shaped tail prefer longer to balance. Quality glossy coat is of pleasingly mingled colours. Shown in good condition & very well prepared, she just needs to muscle up a little. I loved this chatty little lady who is quite a character & typical of the Breed! Please try her under me again sometime.

AV ASIAN or TONKINESE NEUTER.

2 present.

1st. HALL’s DIANGELO DIDYMUS. 72 45 nsq MN. 18 months.

Immature head type as yet - short wedge on a thick muscular neck is of good width but looking rather square in the muzzle today (puffing out his whisker pads), gentle rounding to wide top of head, large broad based ears that have rounded tips & forward tilt are set well apart thus continue the line of the upper part of the wedge. Profile shows a good depth of skull, rounding to rather heavy brow & forehead, distinct break to nose that has pink leather with a bluish outline, deep level chin & level bite. Rather deep set large lustrous greenish yellow eyes that have dark outline, paler spectacle-like surrounds & ribbons from the outer corners seem slightly close-set due to his broader than average bridge of nose & heavy brow but are well shaped, the upper lids having the required slight slant towards the nose, the lower lids being more generously curved, thus have the essential frowning expression unique to the Burmese based breeds. Large adolescent but well balanced lad has solid weighty, muscular body with straight back & rounded chest but seems somewhat stocky & inelegant, rather heavily boned legs of acceptable length, large paws with pinkish-blue pads are rounded rather than oval in shape have colour extending from the heels up towards the hocks, rather thick tail with rounded tip & pale silvery underside & solid coloured tip is of good length thus balances body. Quite short, sleek, glossy coat has lovely silky feel, a lovely sparkling silver undercoat that comes 1/3 of the way up the shaft, the marking colour of muted metallic bluish lilac overlying fawn is very heavy (particularly lower down on his back/rump) & the ticking is very indistinct making it appear more shaded than ticked; he has an ‘M’ shape on his forehead, some indeterminate markings on his tummy, a darker spine line, leg bars, broken necklaces & several rings on his tail. Shown in very good condition, this sweet chap was happier in his pen.

2nd. NEWBERRY’s MIMAPERKS TIFFANYCASE. 74 FN. 13 months.

Immature head type as yet – head is currently a little too long, narrow, is fine in the muzzle & has an exaggerated pinch thus giving muzzle a pointed rather than rounded appearance; top of head is just wide enough but lacks the required gentle rounding. Profile shows rounding to brow, flat forehead, slight break to long nose, chin recedes & is very shallow thus giving an undesirable “shark-like” appearance, bite however is level. Broad based ears with oval tips are too large, flared & are set too high on top of the head. Large deep set eyes with the colour still developing are rather close-set, are in an incorrect Oriental setting, are a rounded almond in shape with the top line of the upper lids slanting towards the nose, the lower lids being more rounded. Large pubescent lass has firm muscular body of good weight with rounded chest& straight back but looking a little too long & unbalanced today, long slightly fine boned muscular legs, neat oval paws have dark brown pads, broad based tapering tail is rather fine & slightly too long. Lovely short, sleek, fine, silky feeling coat has desired lustrous sheen; points colour is very dark indeed but merges quite well with body colour. Shown in top condition & very sweet she just needs time to mature.

AC BURMESE ARISTOCRAT ADULT.

5 present.

1st DELL’s KUPRO CREAM CHIFFON. Cream Female. 4 yrs, 3 mths.
2nd JAMES’s KARESAMA FILANDRESERENADE. Chocolate Female. 2 yrs, 2 ½ mths.

Correct wedge, lovely wide dome, large ears are well set & shaped. Profile shows rounded brow & forehead, distinct break, firm level chin, level bite. Gorgeous yellow eyes are well sized, shaped, set & have that unique scowl! Immature lass looking rather unbalanced still but has well shaped & muscled body of good size & weight, shapely limbs & tail that has some rings evident balances. Super sprayed on coat with satin texture & highly polished finish whilst being very even with no contrast is too dark in dark in colour looking more like a bad brown I’m afraid. Utterly adorable & shown in splendid condition.

3rd MACOY’s MACOYS LAYLA. Brown Tortie Female. 15 ½ months.

AC BURMESE Ch/Gd Ch ADULT.

6 present.

1st SNEESBY’s Gd Ch KATOME BETHANY BROWN. Brown Female. 5 yrs, 8 mths.

Fabulous lady with a World class head & profile, eyes & expression to die for & a short warm seal brown coat that has a shine to rival that of the sun. All the foregoing coupled with the most meltingly sweet disposition – what more could one possibly want in a Burmese?! She is an asset to the Breed & so reminiscent of her unforgettable ancestor. My compliments to all her connections.

2nd. BONE’s Ch SYKRIS DÉJÀ VU Lilac Female Adult. 3 yrs, 2 mths.

Another sweet & lovely lady with super type & typical expression who just lost a point or two on her tail length & coat colour.

3rd CHAPMAN’s Gd Ch TRIBUNE OATCAKE. Cream Female. 9 yrs, 8 mths.

BURMESE ADULT RESIDENT IN KENT.

2 present.

1st. JEFFERY’s Ch KATSPELL KIONA. Brown Tortie Female. 3 yrs, 4 mths.

Short, wide, blunt wedge, wide but rather flat top of head, medium sized ears are well shaped & set. Profile shows rounding to brow, flattish forehead, distinct break to aquiline nose that has an unsightly bump, deep level chin & bite is just about ok. Expressive yellow-chartreuse eyes are well sized, shaped & set. Mature queen whom I’d like slightly bigger but body is well shaped, of good weight & well muscled, well shaped legs, pretty spoon shaped paws, tail of good shape & adequate length has a tiny invisible end irregularity. Quality coat of attractively combined brown & varying shades of red has required satin texture & sheen. A little darling in super condition.

2nd MACOY’s Ch OYIBO MACOYS BLUETT. Blue Male. 18 months.

Very immature still – fairly short jowly wedge of adequate width puffing his whisker pads out thus looking very square in the muzzle today, good width to gently rounded top of head, ears are well sized, shaped & set. Profile shows rounded brow & forehead, break needs considerably more definition, firm level chin & level bite. Deep set yellow-chartreuse eyes are of acceptable size & well spaced apart but upper line of lids have a very acute downward slant thus giving an incorrect Oriental expression. Large adolescent lad looking rangy & unbalanced today but body is of good weight & has the required muscular athletic feel, shapely limbs, tail is rather thick but of good shape & length balances. Rather open coat (typical of an outdoor working stud) of dark blue with required silvering on rounded areas is short, fine with silky feel & good gloss. A sweet chap in good condition who needs time to mature.

It was a treat to see some of my special favourites in this Class – thanks folks.

1st. POWER’s IMP Gd Pr MAINMAN RAJAH. Chocolate MN. 6 yrs, 2 mths.

Super wedge, lovely wide top of head is slightly flat now; large ears are well shaped & set. Profile shows rounding to brow, slightly flat forehead, distinct break & a super deep level chin. Large lustrous Primrose yellow eyes are well set, shaped & have that essential scowl! Large gent of mature years has weighty but well muscled body tho’ not quite so elegant as he used to be, bless him, shapely limbs, tail of good shape & length has a tiny invisible end irregularity. Gorgeous glossy coat with satin texture is of lovely even gold-toned warm milk chocolate. Shown in splendid condition, we had a wonderful cuddle. It was good to see him again – he does you & all his connections great credit. It’s high time he added ‘UK’ to his list of titles!

2nd. COWAN’s Ch AMBASKIN SILVERMIST. Lilac FN. 4 yrs, 2 mths.

Lovely wedge, top of head & ears, profile shows rounding to rather heavy brow & forehead, sloping nose has well defined break but “rolls off” at the tip, deep level chin & level bite. Expressive yellow-chartreuse eyes are well sized, shaped & set. Matron of good size has a weighty but muscular body that still retains its elegance, slender well muscled legs, neat oval paws, well shaped tail balances. Short, sleek, shining coat with silky feel is rather glacial in colour lacking the required pink hue & has undesirable noticeable blue contrast on her mask, ears & tail. Shown in good condition & well presented, she was happier in her pen.

3rd ELLIS’s IMP Gd Pr MAINMAN APOLLO. Chocolate MN. 5 yrs, 4 ½ mths.

Not showing as well today as he usually does for some reason.

AC BURMESE LIMIT NEUTER.

1 present.

1st SIMMONS’s RUMBA KRISTOPH. Lilac MN. 18 months.

Immature head type as yet – wedge could be slightly shorter & wider, correct top of head & ears. Profile shows rounded brow & forehead, break needs more definition, deep level chin, untidy bite. Rather deep set chartreuse eyes could be spaced a little more widely apart, upper lids are too curved & hooded thus fail to give required expression (he was sleepy & didn’t want to open his eyes which didn’t help). Adolescent lad of very good size & weight with hard muscular feel but looking rather unbalanced still, sturdy muscular legs, neat oval paws, well shaped tail balances. Short, fine, sleek coat with silky feel & healthy shine is of rather patchy bluish-grey but the required pink tone is evident. Shown in top condition this ultra-loving lad was a delight to judge – we had a lovely cuddle! He just needs time to mature.

Best coat of the day on this handsome lad & a lovely rich bright tangerine in colour. Shown in splendid condition, superbly presented & a joy to judge with his lovely cuddly nature, he typifies the Breed & when fully mature should go all the way. I look forward to seeing him again sometime.

Beautifully balanced elegant lad of very good size, weight & conformation, lissom limbs, well shaped tail with a tiny end pip balances. Quality glossy coat is of rather glacial faded dove grey lacking the required rosy hue. A magnificent chap in immaculate condition, superbly presented & has the most meltingly sweet disposition – he made bread on my boobs & purred his socks off throughout (so much like my own gorgeous boy), bless him. Can’t understand why I haven’t seen him before this? Never mind, better late than never. He made my day & I have every confidence that he’ll go right to the top.
