SOMERSET CAT CLUB June 5th, 2010. Dr BRUCE BENNETT

A beautiful weekend for this sunny Show. My thanks to Elaine, Lisa and John for their invitation, hospitality and much appreciated gift, already sampled, and to Gaynor Rothwell who steered the way through a busy day with panache and good humour.

AC GR PR SIAMESE/BALINESE MALE NEUTER.

I GR PR to POUNDS’ GR PR JOMESE THE JOKER. MN. (32fn) 5yrs 11mths.

Very striking individual, length everywhere. Long, long wedge with the pinch that often goes with this, huge ears showing dramatic flare and spacing, tiny boss, very oriental eyes for shape and incline, satisfactory depth of blue. Arching profile, chin lines up, upper incisors gone. Graceful neck, long body that has gained firmness and muscularity since last we met, some time ago. Proportionate limbs and tail. Sleek coat shows pleasing warm apricot points with the warm white body shaded in matching tones.

AC ORIENTAL PREMIER NEUTER MALE.

GR PC to PERKINS’ GR PR APRIKAT SUMMERHEAT. MN. (62 15d) 2yrs 7mths.

Distinguished male neuter of very strong type. Great strength to his even, equilateral wedge with splendid width between large ears that show excellent alignment, light green eyes of good oriental shape and incline. Proud profile, chin firm, excellent bite. Strong body and limbs, very good length tail for balance. Coat shows length and flow, texture a little dry, good mid red shade commendably even.

RES GR PR to CECI’S PR TOLEMAC TIGHTSQUEEZE. MN. (37a) 6yrs 3mths.

Super size to this fellow of good type. Wedge strong and masculine adorned by large ears set well, good green to his oriental eyes, held a little open. Profile nearly straight, huge canines, bite level. Excellent body for size, good musculature, balancing limbs and tail. Coat of excellent closeness, lovely sleek texture, sound mid blue. Also considered were two boys of fine type but both lost out to the blue fellow, lacking his strength and masculinity.

ROPER’S PR POLLYBEE SILK EMPEROR. MN. (37a) 1yr 8mths.

Sleepy lad of good type, with an even wedge on which proportionate ears are well set in line, slumberous oriental eyes of light green, profile nearly straight, chin lines up, bite meets well. Fine body, limbs and tail in balance. Coat slightly long and dull textured, a darkish lilac shade.

CLOTHIER’S PR KASSALIC ROBIN REDFEET. MN. (37d) 3yrs 4wks.

Elegant lad with a lovely even wedge, ears of proportionate size, set well, oriental eyes of olive green, very good even, slightly convex profile. Mid sized body and limbs, tail could be a little longer to balance and was a little thick. Good coat texture, lovely light red shade, modest faint tabby markings.

AC ORIENTAL PREMIER NEUTER FEMALE.

GR PC to LEE’S CH & UK GR PR WILLHAVETODO OUIJA BOARD. FN. (37p) 4yrs 1wk.

As lovely as when I first met her some years ago. Very good feminine wedge, large ears in elegant alignment, excellent oriental eyes of clear light green. Gently arched profile, level chin and bite. Left whisker pad today seemed just a hint swollen or puffed though there was no sign of any dental problem. Medium sized, feminine body, balancing limbs and tail. Coat fits close and smooth, excellent soft lilac based caramel with breaks of varying soft apricot shades, shimmering like Galadriel in the forests of Lothlorien. First met this lady some years ago during an assessment in this section. She was exquisite then and is exquisite now.

ORIENTAL TORTOISESHELL KITTEN.

1. BoB Withheld. STORR’S BARBECCO PADME. F. (37es 1mth).

Quite a well grown lass with a medium length, even wedge on which ears are well set. Eyes oriental when she relaxed, golden shade with just a hint of green. Firm body and limbs, tail balances; Unfortunately, has a little fixed forward protrusion of the xiphoid. Very good glowing black coat, lightly broken by various reds, sound on the body but looks a hint smokey above the eyes and over the belly.

TABBY POINT SIAMESE ADULT MALE.

1. CC. SMYTH’S CH NAFITHA GIGALO. M. (32 8) 2yrs 3wks.

Shy boy with a long, elegant wedge, slight pinch, large ears set well in line, eyes oriental, blue could be a little deeper but acceptable. Good straight profile, level chin, bite meets. Long body and limbs, very good tail length. Excellent soft lilac based tabby tracings on the mask, bracelets and well defined tail rings; very good contrast to the pale clear body.

2. RUDGE’S MAGICAL MOONLIGHTSONATA. M. (32 8) 2yrs 1mth.

Another shy lad, long and strong. Medium wedge on which ears are set well, eyes inclined, mid blue. Excellent straight profile, firm chin, bite meets, scissored over. Body large and strong, limbs similar, tail needs length to balance. Coat texture good, showing lovely soft lilac based caramel sludgy tones to the tabby tracings, body softly shaded to match.

TABBY POINT SIAMESE ADULT FEMALE.

1. CC Withheld. COCKWELL’S CARBEILE PAIGE CHERRY. F. (32 5) 11mths 2ks.

Adolescent still, with a medium long wedge on which ears of size are spaced and flared quite well, eyes of good shape, blue might be a little deeper for preference. Strong profile, chin lines up, bite unfortunately undershot. Dainty teenager body, limbs and tail balance. Coat shows points tracings in a mid red, with contrasting body showing some toning shading.

TORTIE POINT SIAMESE ADULT.

1..CC Withheld. PARRY’S CARBEILE OH SO GRACEFUL. F. (32b8) 11mths 2wks.

Another sweet teenager, slightly gangly at present with her head and body size not quite in proportion as yet. Medium length wedge, ears could be a little larger and more flared ideally, eyes of oriental shape and blue tone. Straight profile, bite marginally under. Body large and strong, slightly in advance of the head at present. Limbs in keeping, tail needs a little length for balance. Smooth, close coat shows pleasing soft caramel points well broken by warm apricots, contrasting body gently shaded.

BoB to POUNDS’ GR CH JOMESE JENNY MANYDOTS. F. (32b1) 2yrs 10mths.

Elegant mature lady of very good type. Long even wedge graced by ears that are excellent for size and flare, oriental eyes of sufficient blue. Lovely profile showing, gentle convexity, firm chin and excellent bite. Mature body, matching limbs and tail. Healthy coat of good texture, soft seal points broken by various reds, body now gently shaded but sufficient contrast there.

TABBY POINT SIAMESE KITTEN, MALE.

1.BENNETT’S ABICASA SUPER TROUPER. M. (32 3) 7mths 4wks.

Handsome youth of excellent type with a beautiful strong, even wedge on which are set sizeable ears of very good spacing and flare, eyes of good shape and blue colouration. Profile straight, firm chin, level bite. Firm body and limbs, good tail for length, tiny terminal bobble. Close coat shows thumb prints, eye lines and faint bracelets all in a chocolate that lacks warmth as are the tail rings, at present confined to the terminal third, costing him the BoB. Body pleasingly clear, also rather cool toned.

TABBY POINT SIAMESE KITTEN FEMALE.

1. SINGLE’S SINOPE SACHA. F. (32.3). 6mths 1wk.

Another pleasing chocolate tabby, quite different from the boy. Dainty, wedge, slightly narrow but even, on which ears of proportionate size are set well in line, eyes of oriental shape, set a little straight and lacking intensity to the blue, which cost her the BoB. Very good straight profile, level chin and bite. Dainty slender body, balancing limbs and tail. Her great strength is her superb milk chocolate tabby points colour, best I have seen for some time, with the excellent clear ivory body for contrast to complement . A very interesting pair of kittens, quite different, each with huge strengths but each with a weakness.

TORTIE POINT SIAMESE KITTEN.

1. BoB. JOMESE JENNI LOTSASPOTS. F. (32b1) 4mths 1wk.

My steward said that this girl was cute as a button and she was spot on! Strong little wedge with great breadth to her rounded dome between large ears, flared ready to take off, and adorned by those fabled “gutters”, oriental eyes of smoky blue. Good smooth profile, just convex, lovely deep muzzle, firm chin, level bite. Neat little baby body matched by proportionate limbs and tail. Kitten coat shows seal points, breaks tending to pale reds, typical muddy body tone.

TABBY POINTED SIAMESE NEUTER MALE.

1. PC. BoB. HUTCHINGS PR MAFDET MACARTHUR. MN. (32 8) 1yr 1mth.

Yet another shy caramel tabby! Today the gene seemed to code for retiring temperament as well as for colour. Very good type, wedge beautifully even with large ears, well aligned to crown it, oriental shape and set to his eyes of good depth of blue. Very good straight profile, two little parallel marks on the bridge, firm chin, level bite. Firm body of medium size, balancing limbs and tail that could be just a little longer for preference. Pleasing soft, lilac based tabby tracings to the points, with forehead M, facial tracings, excellent tail rings, faint bracelets, good off white body for contrast.

RED POINT SIAMESE NEUTER MALE.

1 PC. BoB. SHELDON’S TIANLEX GLINTOFGOLD. MN. (32a) 9mths 2wks.

Most striking youth, with a very strong and mature wedge, beautifully even, super broad top between large ears precisely aligned, superior oriental eyes of good blue, proud smooth profile, firm chin and level bite. Very good large body, costal cartileges slightly bumpy but acceptable, strong long limbs and balancing tail. Coat blond and beautiful, glowing warm off white, soft red mask, ears and tail, paws still pale. Inclined to mump and grump somewhat.

AC ORIENTAL SELF ADULT.

1. DEBOWSKA’S CHAPELROSE CINDERELLA. F. (37) 11mths 2wks.

Dazzling little lady of striking type. Balanced wedge, broad top between excellent, large, well flared ears, piercing clear, light green eyes, almost straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Long slender lithe body and limbs, tail to match. Gleaming, sound, skin tight black body stocking.

2. LYONS’ ADNIOSH DEVIL WOMAN. F. (37) yr 1mth.

Attractive lass with a shorter wedge head, ears of size, held just a little up, oriental eyes of olive tone. Profile nearly straight, chin and bite level. Body strong, limbs ditto, tail needs a little length to match. Sound even coat has hints of brown in it in the hall light.

AC SIAMESE/ BALINESE SELF POINTED ADULT.

1. HARPER’S GR CH LYNNOX JEZABELLE. F. (24a) 1yr 11mths.

Mature lady of good size and lovely head type. Very good even equilateral wedge on which are set large ears, flared in line. Eyes of good shape and depth of blue. Proud just convex profile, deep chin, bite now a hint under. Very good long body with matching limbs and tail. Good coat texture, points a deep blue with similar shading on the body but contrast present.

AV SIAMESE DEBUTANTE ADULT.

1. BUTTON’S BETHANE BARNABY. M. (24a) 9mths 4wks.

Boy of medium type with a mid length wedge, ears set quite well, eyes rather open, good blue. Profile fairly straight, firm chin. Substantial body and limbs, tail needs a little length to balance. Attractive blue points with body shaded to match.

AV IMPERIAL, GRAND OR CHAMPION ORIENTAL/SIAMESE/BALINESE ADULT.

1. DAWE’S CH BARBECCO AMIDALA. F. (37h) 1yr 3mths.

Nice balance to this lady who has an even wedge on which ears of good size are spaced and flared well in line, eye shape good though the colour is goldy green, the emphasis being on the gold. . Virtually straight profile, level chin and bite. Medium sized body and limbs, tail matches. Coat a lovely warm chocolate with super red breaks to it.

2. HARPER’S GR CH LYNNOX JEZABELLE. F. (24a) 1yr 11mths.

AV NOT WON A CC ADULT.

1. WILLS’ LEBRETON FINLAY. M. (48 40b) 2yrs 3mths.

Very large and handsome individual, with a long typy wedge, balanced by breadth at the top between large, well flared ears, striking pink tips to them, oriental eyes that he was very reluctant to open for us but the blue appeared acceptable . Super straight profile, though the chin recedes a bit and incisors were just over. Huge, strongly muscled body, limbs and tail in balance. Very good sleek close coat, pleasing warmth to the chocolate, plenteous white appropriately distributed on mask, limbs and tummy.

2. WILLS’ FIROUSI FARUK. M. (48 40d) 1yr 4mths.

This lad has an even wedge, well set ears of good size, good oriental shape to his blue eyes, a straight profile, good chin and level bite. Unfortunately he was not in show condition, being somewhat thin with his coat quite dry and open.

AC ORIENTAL LIMIT KITTEN

1.WRIGHT’S COCOBA SPIRIT OF HOPE. F. (29c) 7mths 1wk.

Dainty girl with a fine wedge, slight pinch, ears set quite well, would prefer a little more space between, excellently inclined green eyes. Fine little body, matching limbs and tail. Coat sound, a rather bluish shade of lilac.

2. STORR’S BARBECCO PADME. F. (37e) 7mths 2wks.

AC SIAMESE/BALINESE SELF POINTED KITTEN.

1. DEBOWSKA’S MERESCLIFF SIONEVA. F. (24a) 5mths 3wks.

Kitten of very good type, with an even wedge graced by striking large ears flared very well in line, eyes of good shape and depth of blue. Long profile with just the hint of kitten depression still there in the brow, level chin and bite. Slender firm body, balancing limbs and tail. Her points are a too dark a blue to conform to her registration and her pads show just a hint of purple, but she is a very splendid young lady.

2. LLOYD’S RIDESTAR DANDY LION. M. (61dt) 4mths 2wks.

Boy of good type with a shortish wedge, even lines, ears placed and flared well, could be just a little larger for preference, eyes of good shape and very good depth of blue. Straight profile, firm chin, bite meets, just. Well developed body, matching limbs and tail. Coat texture very good already developing flow, showing thumb prints, some tracings to the mask, soft tail rings and single bracelets. Very good contrast to warm white body

AC SIAMESE/BALINESE NON-BREEDER’S KITTEN.

2. GRAY’S LYNNOX MONTE CRISTO. M. (24c) 7mths 2wks.

Attractive boy, still to develop masculine qualities, graceful wedge with a tiny pinch, crowned by large ears set and flared becomingly, very good oriental eye shape with depth to the blue. Straight profile, level chin and bite. Balanced body, limbs and tail. Good lilac points with a touch of plum on the ears, excellent clear magnolia body for contrast.

X2. BENNETT’S ABICASA SUPER TROUPER. M. (32 3) 7mths 4wks.

AC SIAMESE/BALINESE SELF POINTED NEUTER.

1. GRICE’S MANTINES LOOKWHOSTALKING. MN. (24) 11mths 1wk.

Boy with a very typy head broad at the top between large, well flared ears, eyes of oriental shape with depth to the blue. Profile shows a superior arch, chin aligned well, bite meets. Strong, lithe body and limbs, super whip tail that goes on till morning. Dense seal points, body shaded but some contrast evident.

AV VISITOR’S NEUTER.

1. BERRY’S CH PIPASTRO SOLACE. FN. (61p) 2yrs 3mths.

Lady of very good type, with an even, equilateral wedge, on which ears are well spaced and flared, excellent eye shape, deep blue in colour. Straight profile, level chin and bite. Body of mid size, limbs to match, tail could be a little longer for balance. Coat lengthy and flowing, points a lovely glowing caramel warmly broken, clear off white coat for contrast making a Technicolor picture.

2. TAYLOR’S JADEVYN BRYCHAN TROEDMAWR. MN. (48 40bt) 2yrs 2mths.

Gentleman with a shorter, even wedge with ears spaced and flared though he tends to turn them out sometimes, eyes of good blue, well shaped. Strong profile, two straight planes around a gentle angle at the brow, chin and bite line up. Close coat shows dark chocolate M on the forehead, good tail rings in a warmer chocolate, the pigmented areas of the body showing quite discernible spotted pattern, plentiful white appropriately distributed on limbs, mask and tummy.

X2 CRUMPLER’S SARNAJES SULTANOFSWING. MN. (24b) 2yrs 4mths.

Large rangy gent with a long, slightly pinched wedge crowned by large ears set in line, would prefer a little more space between for balance. Eyes oriental and good blue shade. Arched profile, chin lines up, bite meets. Long, long body, matching limbs and tail. Points a darker shade of chocolate, excellent contrast to the clear ivory body.
