WEST OF SCOTLAND CAT CLUB 12th December, 2009. DR BRUCE BENNETT.A thoroughly festive occasion with magnificent rosettes the size of dinner plates, seasonally themed. My thanks to Caroline and Ian for their invitation and to Rachel Tosun, who stewarded for me for the first of many such engagements I trust; we had an enjoyably busy day. I inherited some classes from Mrs Kalal and Mrs Walkden who were unable to attend; I hope that both are out and about again soon.` IMPERIAL CLASS; AC ORIENTAL GR CH MALE.1, Imp GR CC withheld. HARVEY’S GR CH FIORDILISO CUBA. M (29) 1yr 4mths.Elegant individual of very fine type with an balanced wedge, tiny pinch, large ears of excellent spacing and wide flare, good oriental shape to his eyes of dull green, super profile, a proud haughty arch, chin slopes back just a little, incisors meet. Body is slender and elegant, limbs balancing, tail might be just a little longer. Superb coat for length and texture, lies slick and close and is of very good soundness and a gleaming, slightly dark chestnut. My problem with him at this level is the fact that though elegant, he lacks masculinity and substance. He is young and still looks a touch adolescent, requiring more macho oomph at the Imperial level. IMPERIAL CLASS. AC ORIENTAL GR CH FEMALE.1, Imp GR CC withheld. LINTON’S GR CH SHADOWSQUAD STARDUST. F. (37g) 2yr 9mths.Another very fine exhibit whom I have always liked a great deal. She has a head of exquisite oriental type a beautifully even, equilateral wedge sporting ears of size, widely flared in exact alignment, eyes of very good shape and striking oriental incline, light olive shade. Very straight profile, chin ebbs a little, incisors meet. Very dainty body and limbs, tail might be just a tad longer. She has always been rather slight and this was accentuated today by the fact that she was just a little thin, her spine just slightly too prominent. Her dark blue coat, showing appropriate breaks, was a little long and somewhat on the dull side as if she was recovering from something. She remains an exquisite girl, one of my favourite oriental ladies, whom I have often placed at the top level but today she just missed out on condition. 2. HAMILTON’S GR CH TRELGANDORF BURNT SIENNA. F. (29) 3yrs 7mths.A strong, mature and well developed lady of good type. She has a very good even wedge on which ears of good size are well placed and show balanced flare; eyes of oriental shape and set, light olive green. Excellent straight profile, firm chin, bite just marginally under. Very good strong body, matched by limbs and tail that could be just a mite longer. Coat a little dry in texture, colour a very good soft warm chestnut but unfortunately noticeably unsound. 3. GIBSON’S GR CH KHERAF EDOFTHERAINBOW. F. (37e) 3yrs 7mths.Lady of good type whom I have also admired before on numerous occasions. Today she was in a very amorous mood indeed and perhaps this accounted for the fact that she held her ears rather higher than I recall. She has an even wedge with oriental eyes of clear light green, ears of good size, needing a little more flare today for preference, profile shows a slight dish now, chin firm and bite level. Excellent length of body, firmly muscled, with limbs to match and good length of tail for balance. Good coat condition, pleasing black very well broken by varying shades of red, some showing good richness. IMPERIAL CLASS. AC SIAMESE/BALINESE GR PR MALE.Imp Gr PC BUCHAN’S GR PR KEELOKAN KAI KAI. MN (32 5) 3yr 1mths.Looking splendid, this gentleman of excellent type, strapping and mature now and just a little above himself, which probably added some je ne sais quoi. Very good, even wedge, with large ears showing very good spacing and elegant flare, topline looking wonderful as a result. Eyes of super shape and incline, blue good. Profile almost straight, chin rounded, untidy incisors that basically meet. Long firm body, balanced limbs and tail to match. Sleek coat, rich red ears, forehead M, facial tracings, ringed tail faint bracelets. Good contrast to body that shows some warm shading. Presented a very striking overall picture, with considerable vocal presence. RES Imp GR PC. MATHER’S Imp GR PR STATIONARY SCARLET SHADOW.MN (32a) 4yrs 5mths.A good old friend of very good type, with a shorter, strong, even wedge on which ears of size are well spaced and flared in line, eyes show good oriental shape and set, mid blue. Arched profile, chin lines up, lower incisors now gone. Very good long strong body and limbs, tail matching. Coat rather long, soft red points, good clear off white body for contrast. I understand that he is retiring now, having won just about every available honour. He has adorned the Scottish Show scene with great distinction for some years. We shall miss him and wish him well. IMPERIAL CLASS. AC SIAMESE/BALINESE GR PR FEMALE.Imp GR PC. LINTON’S Imp GR CH & GR PR FIORDILISO APRIL SHOWERS. FN (32b7) 5yrs 8mths.Lady of distinction, a diva with the temperament of a Callas. Beautiful, even wedge crowned by large ears, spaced and flared, almond shaped, inclined eyes, flashing lightning bolts all around. Gently arched profile, firm chin, level bite. Excellent long body, slender and firm, balanced limbs and very good length tail. Close coat, soft cinnamon points, gently broken, attractive pale body that shows a hint of tortie shading. RES Imp GR PR. SPENCE’S GR PR SCOTMAR CLASSIE LASSIE. FN. (24a) 2yrs 8mths.Very pretty, dainty lady of very pleasing type with an even wedge, super eyes for shape and oriental incline with real depth of blue, ears very well spaced and flared. Profile shows a gentle angle at the brow, chin rounds off gently, bite meets. Neat body of mid size, limbs and tail in keeping. Close coat shows soft blue points with good contrast to the body that shows some matching shading over the good cool basic colour. AC SIAMESE/BALINESE CH MALE.Gr CC FRENCH’S CH PALMIRA BEAUJANGLES. M. (24b) 1yr 3wks.This youth has grown considerably since last seen and now presents a formidable and most pleasing appearance. He has a lovely even wedge on which large ears are becomingly spaced and flared, eyes of good blue shade, sleepy oriental shape and set. Very good straight profile, trademark bare patch on the muzzle. Body now long and well muscled, long slender limbs, tail might be just a tad longer for preference. Excellent pale unshaded ivory to his body with very good soft milk chocolate points, as usual marginally darker on the mask than elsewhere. ORIENTAL LILAC ADULT.1. CC. LENIHAN’S KYOMI KIHANA. F. (29c) 1yr 1mth.Graceful lass of good basic type. Wedge long and even, would prefer a little more breadth at the top, between ears that are of good size and alignment, eyes of good light green and oriental shape, a little open. Very good straight profile, chin slopes gently, bite meets. Long elegant firm body and limbs, excellent length of tail to balance. Coat of wonderful texture, feeling like silk, very good soft, sound, even lilac. FOREIGN WHITE ADULT.1 CC BoB. BRASH’S CH RIVANESS MIZ BELLE. F. (35) 1yr 3mths.A sauncy lass, of substance and good conformation. Wedge even and strong, would benefit from just a little more breadth at the top between the ears that are of good size and set. Eyes of oriental shape and excellent depth of blue, looking a little apprehensive today. Body large and strong, firm limbs, tail needs an inch for balance. Super coat, very good texture and sparkling white. ORIENTAL TORTOISESHELL ADULT.1. CC. GIBSON’S GR CH KHERAF EDOFTHRAINBOW. F. (37e) 3yrs 7mths.BoB. LINTON’S GR CH SHADOWSQUAD STARDUST. F. (37g) 2yr 9mths.ORIENTAL BLACK KITTEN.1. BoB. DEBOWSKA’S CHAPELROSE CINDERELLA. F. (37) 5mths 2wks.What a star! A girl of eye catching type with a long, even wedge, on which sit hugely spaced ears of splendid flare and alignment, wicked expression to her green oriental eyes. Arrogantly arched profile, rounded chin but it lines up well, level bite. Well grown, long slender body, super long spidery limbs and lengthy tail for balance. Typical sound gleaming black coat. Truly her father’s daughter. Later Best Oriental and even later Best Overall Exhibit. Congratulations. 2. HAMILTON’S ADNIOSH BLACK ORGANZA. F. (37) 7mths.A most pleasing girl, unlucky to meet the competition today. Long even wedge, marginal pinch, large, quite well spaced ears, aligned and flared nicely, orientally shaped eyes of good clear green, held marginally open. Profile almost straight, chin firm and bite level. Body slender but firm, about same size as winner’s despite age difference, limbs and tail balancing. Excellent sleek black sound coat. BI-COLOUR ORIENTAL INTERMEDIATE KITTEN.1. BoB. DYKES’ MAZPAHS REBEL ROY. M.(48b) 5mths 3wks.Very well grown boy for this age, could be months older. Long typy wedge, tiny pinch, large ears well flared in line, shaped oriental eyes of good green shade. Profile shows a gentle arch, chin and bite level. Body very long and strongly muscled, limbs and tail to match. Good coat texture, chocolate shade typically dark, bright clear white on all four limbs, on face, shoulders and all down belly. Slight invasion by white at periphery of the brown but in general the patches are large and solid. SEAL POINT SIAMESE ADULT MALE.1. CC. BoB. ROBB’S KHERAF GERALDO. M. (24) 1yr 2wks.Handsome youth, long and rangy. Long, even wedge head, large ears flared in line, eyes of correct shape and set, good blue shade. Profile shows a smooth convexity, chin and bite level. Very good long tubular body, matching limbs, good length of tail. Seal points contrast well to the body that is a little cool tone but shows little shading as yet. 2. FRASER’S SERAPIS FREESPIRIT. M. (24) 1yr 5mths.Strong lad of good type with a shorter, even wedge, on which ears of good size are very well spaced and flared giving a pleasing topline. Eye shape and colour good. Profile shows a little dip at the brow, chin depth good, bite level. Strong body and limbs, tail shows a slight thickening a little more than half way down and a tiny terminal expansion. Coat condition good, pleasing shine to it, dense seal points, body quite heavily shaded in similar tone. TABBY POINT SIAMESE ADULT FEMALE.1. CC. BoB. BROWN’S FISEPO THISLEWAY AURORA. F. (32t8) 1yr 1wk.Young lady of good type with an even wedge on which large ears are set well, eyes of excellent oriental shape, blue just deep enough in the hall light. Very good straight profile, chin lines up, excellent bite. Slender body, limbs and tail balance. Good coat texture, close and smooth, very softly patterned mask and legs, lilac based caramel tabby, tail rings clear, only a hint of tortie but all pads clearly mottled. SEAL POINT SIAMESE NEUTER.1. PC. BoB. SPENCE’S PR SCOTMAR SIMPLY MAGIC. FN. (24) 2yr 2mths.Lady with a long, elegant wedge head, gentle pinch, ears of good size, well flared, oriental eyes, blue OK. FN (32b7) 5yrs 8mths.NORWEGIAN FOREST KITTEN MALE.1 withheld. 2. THOMSON’S ELFENTANZ SVART FYRSTE. M. (67 15) 7mths 5wks.Large, very well grown youth. Strong, head, basically triangular, rather rounded at the chin. Sizeable, spaced ears pricked high and aligned to the wedge. Eye aperture only just oblique. Eyes themselves do not conform; though appealing, instead of being oval they very large, open and round. Good profile, virtually straight when fur smoothed down, chin rounds back, bite level. Very good large strong body and limbs, with the required extra height at the rear, tail of good length reaching shoulder blades. Coat well developed, with ruff, knickerbockers and clear distinction between wooly under and coarser overcoats, black with some shadiness; well furnished ears and large tufted paws. A pleasing fellow but for those eyes which unfortunately determined the placing. NORWEGIAN FOREST KITTEN FEMALE.1. BoB. NIVEN’S NOREXOTIKATTS BOBISOX EIVA. F. (67 31ts) 5mths 2wks.Well grown silver tabby and white lady with a particularly well developed coat. Her head is a good equilateral triangle though its basic shape is at present partly obscured by a profuse ruff which needs smoothing back to reveal it. Eyes oval and of good obliqueness, set is marginally deep, ears well spaced, open, good size, following wedge lines when ruff smoothed back and with excellent long internal furnishings and tufts just developing. Good straight profile, chin firm, bite meets. Very well developed body for her age, standing on strong limbs, a little higher at the rear, tail of good length, easily reaching shoulder blades. Profuse coat, clear wooly undercoat , curly tummy, well developed knickerbockers, ruff, tufty paws of size, with overcoat well in evidence on body. 2. JOHNSTONE’S TUYET DEMELZA. F. (67 36w) 3mths 2wks.Promising black smoke and white baby with a strong little head, its triangle a little blunted at the nose as yet, ears of size set well, open, wide based, and well furnished already, eyes oval, held a little open with excitement and aperture just oblique, slanting to outer ear bases. Super straight profile, firm chin, level bite. Chunky little body set on strong little limbs, rear ones slightly higher than forelimbs as desired, tail of good length. Kitten coat developing length, still with considerable kitten wispiness as one might expect at this age, tail furnishing on the way, as are paw tufts. Endearing. 3. LIVINGSTONE’S NJALCATS DOLLY DAYDREAM. F. (67 31ets). 6mths 2wks.Attractive silver tortie tabby and white lass with a shorter, fairly even triangular head, eyes just on the oval side of round, good oblique setting, ears quite large, open and set to follow head lines well. Good straight profile, chin slopes gently, bite meets. Good strong body, limbs conform, tail marginally short and unfortunately has an easily palpable bony deviation near its tip. Coat development good with differentiation between overcoat and wooly undercoat there, slightly oily texture. Ruff developing, britches also, internal ear furnishings and paw tufts progressing. Straight, profile, chin and bite level. Elegant and firm body, matching limbs. Pleasing soft even caramel coat. This handsome fellow would have been placed first but for his obvious tail fault. 3. LINTON’S SIARUNG STILL FIZZIN. F. (32b8) 4mths 4wks.Graceful little lass with a wedge that is a little narrow so that her ears, though they follow its lines appear slightly too close; eyes of oriental shape, set a little straight. Good, smoothly arched profile, firm chin, undershot bite. Body of size for age, balancing limbs and tail. Good coat texture, soft caramel points, tortie features difficult to discern as yet, tortie paw pads. AC SIAMESE LIMIT KITTEN.1. SHAND’S MAFDET ROSETINTED. F.
