YORKSHIRE CAT CLUB. October 23, 2010. Dr BRUCE BENNETT.

My sincere thanks to Linda and Elaine for their kind invitation to this large, exciting and most enjoyable Show at the Dome. Gillian and I had a great time. My thanks also to Darryl Yates who stewarded for me once again to the manor born, and once more proved a diverting and helpful presence on a busy day.

AV ORIENTAL GRAND PREMIER FEMALE.

Imp GR CC to GODDARD’S GR PR MYLYNN SWEET-PEA. FN. (62 43s) 2yrs 1mth.

A lovely girl, entering her glorious prime, and a real drama queen. She has a beautifully balanced wedge head, excellent top with large ears, well spaced and flared in dramatic alignment, clear light green oriental eyes inclined and perhaps marginally open as she put on her oscar winning performance. Profile gently arching, strong muzzle, firm chin, level bite. Terrific long, lithe body, limbs match, rounded tufty paws, tail just balances. Coat of gorgeous texture and flow, light as a feather and feeling like satin ( all her own work I learned later, full marks) medium long, good flow to it, excellent furnishing to the plume. Glistening silver reaching well up the hair shafts to the black shading, which is commendably even. Exuding confidence all round and enjoying the day to the full.

RES Imp GR PC to LEE’S CH & I GR PR WILLHAVETODO OUIJA BOARD. FN. (37p) 4yrs 4mths.

I have worshipped at the shrine of this wonderful lady for years. She has a topline that is for me near perfect, with beautifully spaced ears showing exactly the right amount of flare and normally has eyes of superb hauteur and expression, good light green, the marginal asymmetry of the muzzle, noted previously, adding an intriguing individuality to her look. She has a flat forehead, gentle angle at the brow and straight line to the nose leather, chin lines up, lop sided incisors meeting acceptably. She has a lovely close lying coat of beautifully mingled soft caramel and pale apricots. Today she seemed somewhat out of sorts, holding her eyes open and her body tense, making it seem a little stocky. Her look of ineffably calm composure and lofty superiority that has been her trademark on previous meetings, and made her virtually invincible, was not evident today.

NORWEGIAN FOREST KITTEN MALE.

1. GRANT’S NOYNAROCK TROY. M. (67 31ts) 6mths 1wk.

Handsome youth of very good type with a strong, even, triangular head surrounded by an already well developed ruff that slightly disguises its equilateral nature, well spaced ears of good size and set, obliquely set oval eyes with a serene expression. Profile nearly straight, tiniest rise over the muzzle, firm chin, incisors meet. Very good long strong body, easily the best developed in the male class, substantial limbs, lengthy hind ones as desired, big rounded paws, tail reaching to shoulder blades. Excellent double silver tabby and white coat with guard hairs well in evidence on back and sides, gracefully furnished tail, paw tufts, ear furnishings and knickerbockers all present.

2. METCALF’S SKAUTROLL BLUEWATCH. M. (67 18a) 5mths 2wks.

Younger lad with a neat head, fairly equilateral full face, thought the muzzle is a little fine as compared to the more substantial top, ears of good size, spaced well and set in line. Gold eyes, oblique and oval, upper lid set a little horizontal . Profile shows a gentle dish brow to nose leather, muzzle rather fine needing more depth, chin slopes back gently, bite just meets. Strong little body, sturdy limbs in keeping, sizeable paws showing embryo tufts, tail reaches to shoulder blades. Blurry blue silver tabby coat still of kittenish soft texture with coarse guard hairs just appearing on the upper back. The smart white paws indicate that the registration is not quite right.

3. BAVERSTOCK’S MOONKIST SIMBA’S PRIDE. MN. (67 31dts) 7mths 3wks.

Pretty fellow with a head that is roughly equilateral but not quite even in that the cheekbones curve inward above a slightly narrow muzzle, emphasizing it and giving it a pinched appearance. The oval eyes are a little small and set deep, show the required gentle incline, ears are well spaced and follow the line of the upper part of the head, good internal furnishings. Gentlest curve to the forehead then profile is straight to the nose leather, chin rounds off gently, bite meets. Good strong body with correctly proportioned limbs to match, good sized tufted paws and proportionate length of tail. Good coat development, waterproof overcoat and woolly undercoat there, knickerbockers in evidence and fully furnished flowing tail, neat white paws to contrast with the soft red silver tabby body.

NORWEGIAN FOREST KITTEN FEMALE.

1. BoB. MILLS’ NOYNAROCK MILLSANO. F. (67 31ft) 7mths.

Girl of quite excellent development, size equal to that of the male winner. Very strong, superbly even, symmetrical, marginally short triangular head with large ears, spaced well and set to follow the head lines, obliquely set oval eyes with a serene and confident expression. Super, straight as a dye profile, muzzle of good depth, firm, well aligned chin and bite that meets. Body long and strongly muscular, limbs and well tufted paws in proportion, hind limbs appropriately slightly longer than ‘fores’, tail reaching to shoulder blades. Excellent double coat, well developed outer and woolly under-layers, substantial ruff, ear furnishings and knickerbockers. Blue-cream and white pattern rather than as registered; fortunately it is irrelevant to her assessment. Both she and her stablemate displayed excellent calm temperaments.

ORIENTAL TORTIE KITTEN.

1. BoB Withheld. SHORT’S TILSIE QUE SERA SERA. F. (37e) 4mths 1wk.

Sweet baby with a nice even triangular wedge, excellent clear green oriental eyes, ears of size, placed and flared well, good straight profile, firm chin, level bite. Wriggly little body, slender limbs and bootlace tail. Wispy cinnamon tortie coat nicely broken. Unfortunately had a little group of white hairs on the lower abdomen and the pale tip to her tail appeared to have some white in it in the hall light also.

ORIENTAL BICOLOUR KITTEN.

1. BoB. BROWN’S FIROUSI SMOKING GUN. M. (48 42) 7mths.

Very handsome, well grown youth, with a long, even wedge slightly pinched, large ears set well in line, striking orientally shaped and inclined eyes of good green shade. Profile shows an arrogant smooth arch, chin lines up with nose, bite meets. Body long, muscular and lithe, lengthy limbs and balancing tail. Soft textured coat, slightly long but smooth lying, shows lots of white, well over the required one third of body area, and distributed in all the desired locations, black areas on the body showing substantial silver undercoat pushing further up the shafts than in most smokes, adding a dramatic glamour, coloured areas on the body showing some tabby ghosting and the tail faint ringing at present. Minor invasion of the patches by white. Most attractive appearance overall.

BLUE POINT SIAMESE NEUTER.

1. PC. BoB. WEBSTER’S CH & PR NANPEMA TANZANITE-IN-BLUE. FN. (24a) 1yr 8mths.

Smart lady, neat and dainty, with a lovely even equilateral wedge head, excellent topline with spaced and flared ears of good size, eyes of good shape, would like a little more depth to the blue, but quite acceptable. Very good straight profile, very strong chin, bite just OK. Firm body, would prefer a little more size to it, balancing limbs and tail. Coat of good quality and texture, soft blue paws and tail, mask just a little darker, good body contrast, slight shading only and fairly cool in tone.

TABBY POINT SIAMESE NEUTER.

1. PC. BoB. BUDDEN’S JOMESE MUMBO-JUMBO. MN. (32 1) 1yr 11mths.

This lad has a very lovely wedge head, excellent top with breadth between large well flared ears, beautiful deep blue eyes, set well. Profile shows two straight planes, gentle angle at the brow, chin well aligned, incisors meet. Body long and lithe, limbs proportionate, tail could be a little longer for preference. Close lying coat, facial tabby tracings delicate, could do with more clarity of tail rings, body shady but contrast present

2. MILES’ SIMPLISMITTEN SIMPLY RED. MN. (32 5) 1yr 7mths.

Boy with a good lengthy, even wedge, ears spaced quite well and flared in line, eyes of good deep blue, well shaped and inclined. Long body and limbs, tail in proportion, close coat shows soft red tabby points with excellent warm white body for contrast.

3. GREEN’S SIMPLISMITTEN SPIRIDION. MN. (32 10) 1yr 7mths.

Even wedge, ears set nicely upon it, inclined oriental blue eyes. Very good straight profile, chin lines up, irregular incisors meet. Medium sized body, limbs and tail match. Soft apricot tabby points, body gently shaded in similar tones. Small bare spot at the base of the right ear next to the crown, judged OK by Duty Vet. Pale, almost white spot over shoulder looking like a reaction to an injection.

4. GREEN’S SIMPLISMITTEN CARAMELOMINE. MN. (32 8) 1yr 7mths.

Boy with a rather narrow but even wedge, ears aligned, might be a little larger for balance, eyes well shaped, set a little deep and straight, good blue shade. Straight profile like his siblings, chin and bite level. Firm body, matching limbs, excellent length of tail. Coat condition good, caramel tabby points with contrast to the rather shaded body.

BoB. HUTCHINGS’ GR PR MAFDET MCARTHUR. MN. (32 8) 1yr 6mths.

Gentleman of very good type, with a very good even wedge head, broad at the top between large ears set well, oriental eyes of good blue with a mysterious expression. Dead straight profile, chin aligned, incisors meet. Strong, elegant body and limbs, tail might be a smidge longer. Excellent short, close coat, soft caramel tabby points gently delineated, wonderful clear off white body for contrast.

AC SLH RADIUS ADULT.

1. RUBERY’S RAFFKIN DELAWARE DAISY DOT. F. (67 28) 11mths 2wks.

Very attractive young lady. Good even triangular head sporting large ears well spaced and continuing the head lines, eyes oval and inclined as desired. Excellent straight profile, firm chin lining up with the nose, incisors meet. Strong, adolescent body with correct proportion to the limbs, substantial tufted paws, tail might ideally be just a little longer to balance. Good profuse coat, overcoat developing well over body though not as yet complete, knickerbockers and ear furnishings evident.

2. HOBSON’S TWINKLETOES SWEET NEMESIA. F. (13c6) 1yr 2mths.

Pretty lady with a broad head, full cheeks, neat muzzle, well placed ears of mid size, oval eyes, blue could be deeper for preference. Profile shows a slightly shallow dip and a very slight bump over the muzzle, chin and bite correct. Compact, strong body of mid length, thick limbs, neat short paws and balancing tail. Soft, profuse coat, silky to the touch, fully furnished tail, seal points nicely mingled, good body contrast, gloves, socks and gauntlets correct.

3. SMITH’S COLORDALE HARLEY. M. (64 41) 3yrs 1mth.

Slightly rude lady of good type, with a broad rounded head, medium length muzzle, correct slight dip in profile, additional little slope at the nose leather, rounded chin and level bite. Spaced ears of mid size, rounded eyes of good blue. Compact body, balanced by strong limbs and mid length tail. Full coat, texture silky, ruff framing the face, furnished tail. Faintly defined blue tabby points, gloves and socks and gauntlets correct, tail ringing lacks definition, good body contrast. Looking wonderful at 11 and a half.

2. KEMP’S GR PR SHANDATAL IMABLUE TIGER. MN. (13c12) 9yrs 7mths.

Large gentleman with a rounded head, gentle profile dip, little rise over the muzzle, chin slopes back, incisors meet. Ears spaced and of mid size, eyes of blue with a hint of slinky incline to them. Strongly boned body, substantial limbs, short rounded paws, medium length tail.
