CHESTER & NORTH WALES CAT CLUB

August 8th 2009.
DR BRUCE BENNETT
A big, busy show that we thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks to Chris and Peter and their team for the invitation to judge and to Tom Cassar-Simmonds who kindly stepped in to steward for me and who was a most efficient and engaging companion.

AC SIAMESE/BALINESE GRAND CHAMPION FEMALE.

Imp GR CC GREEN’S GR CH MAPU ALLEGRA. F. (24n) 30.10.04.

Delighted to meet once more this beautifully correct lady, prim and proper with everything just so. Excellent even wedge head with large open ears flowing upward and outward in perfect alignment, super oriental inclined eyes of deep blue. Profile shows gentlest patrician arch to it, chin slopes the merest tad, incisors meet well. Balanced body, limbs and tail, more substantial out than she looked in the pen. Very lovely smooth coat, showing matched grey/brown points with excellent contrast to the clear, off white body.

ORIENTAL LILAC ADULT.

1. CC. BoB. HARRISON’S FULLMOON BEAU-JANGLE.F. (29c) 14.4.08.

Very nervous lady of good basic type. Though her eyes looked like headlamps initially, when she was coaxed into a bit of confidence they came down nicely to a good oriental shape showing clear light green. The wedge is long, shows a minor pinch and the ears were set quite well when she relaxed after the initial alarms and excursions set them awry. Profile, fairly straight, just a little rise over the bridge, incisors scissored over but meet. Strong long body and limbs, tail in proportion; tiny twist in the terminal vertebra,  hint of some mammary hypertrophy.  Coat slightly long but lies well, even, sound, bluish lilac in the hall light that played a number of tricks on the day.

ORIENTAL BLACK ADULT.

1. CC. BoB. BROWNING’S CH CIATRA BASHFUL BRUNO. M. (37). 12.1.08.

Huge, strong fellow of good type, just a trifle skittish. Even wedge, very good top with breadth between open, widely  flared ears.  Muzzle a little fine for that splendid topline, eyes shape good, olive green, wonderful wicked expression when he squints down his nose at you (squint not fixed I add hastily). Profile almost straight, chin could be a little deeper but it lines up, rather lonely lower incisors looked correct. Super great big strong body and limbs, tail compliments. Wonderful, close sound black coat, fitting like those swim suits that are currently causing controversy.

ORIENTAL TORTOISESHELL ADULT.

1. CC. BoB. GILDER’S BARDSONG TORCHDANCER. F. (37h) 27.10.08.

Lady  of style with a very good even wedge, large ears of excellent openness, well set and flared, eyes a little open, light green in colour, almost straight profile, strong chin and bite that meets. Elegant, svelte body, balancing limbs and tail. Coat marginally long, rich chocolate, well broken by shades of red.

ORIENTAL CREAM/APRICOT ADULT.

1.CC BoB. CLARKE’S CH HEMLOCK LADY MARMALADE. F. (37fn) 3.5.06.

Lass of good overall type, longish wedge, ears of size set in line, eyes of very good shape and incline when relaxed, light olive tone. Profile shows the gentlest angle at the brow, straight planes above and below, chin slopes back a little, only lower incisors left, very wayward but seem about level. Slender body and limbs, neat paws, tail matching. Coat a little long, but silky feeling to the touch, fairly sound, rather cool in tone for apricot.

ORIENTAL LILAC KITTEN.

1. BoB  WHITING’S MERRYTAIL SONG OF SONGS. F. (29c) 4.1.09.

Lovely name. Longish wedge appearing to have a slight pinch at present as puffing those whisker pads, good topline, large, spaced, well flared ears. Light green eyes of oriental shape. Profile shows a gentle little step at the bridge at present, chin lines up and bite meets. Elegant body and limbs, whip tail to match. Very good short close coat, attractive soft lilac shade out of the pen.

ORIENTAL CINNAMON KITTEN.

1. BoB.BUCKLEY’S WESTGARTH DE NIRO. M. (37k) 8.3.09.

Pleasing lad with a very strong well balanced wedge, graced by large ears well aligned, and oriental shaped eyes of light green colour that could be a little more brilliant for preference. Very good profile, smooth and gently convex, firm chin and level bite Strong, well developed body, balancing limbs and tail. Sound coat, soft in texture, would like a little more warmth to the cinnamon, faint tabby ghosting discernible at present.

ORIENTAL CARAMEL KITTEN.

1. BoB Withheld. MULLINEAUX’S SYBELLA SUNBLESSED. M. (37n). 14.1.09.

Rather a dainty person for a boy at present; good even wedge, nicely equilateral, on which proportionate ears are set well, oval, inclined eyes of light green. Profile almost straight, good chin, level bite. Medium sized body, limbs and tail to match. Smooth coat texture, very unsound at present, attractive colour, seeming to hover somewhere between fawn and caramel at the moment before it makes its mind up.

AC ORIENTAL BICOLOUR KITTEN.

1. BoB. ELLIS’S EIREACHDAIL MAZPAHSMOSAIC. F. (48e) 20.11.08.

Lovely little lady with a good equilateral wedge head, crowned by captivating ears of good size enchantingly tipped in black that makes them seem to tilt just a little forward. Eyes of good shape, light green. Very good straight profile, firm chin and level bite.  Dainty body and limbs, tail matches. Lots of clear white on mask, body, limbs and all down the tummy. Very good black and bright red tortie-ing with no significant white invasion.

CHOCOLATE POINT SIAMESE ADULT.

1. CC Withheld. HOWARD & HANBY’S AMARRICHI AURORA SQUISITA. F. (24b)  31.5.08.

Striking type to this large, elegant girl who has a long wedge, tiny pinch, large ears set becomingly, almond shaped eyes of acceptable blue. Profile is nearly straight, chin and bite level. Long lithe body and limbs, proportionate tail. Coat condition good but the colour in the points is very dark for chocolate, verging on seal, very dramatic contrast with the body that is clear and pale, almost white. While the overall colour is most fetching, it does not conform to the standard, I’m sorry to say.

CARAMEL POINT SIAMESE ADULT.

1. CC. GREEN’S BELROO ELKIE. F. (24n) 3.2.07.

Sweet girl with a very strong, even, equilateral wedge head on which ears of size are set and flared well in line, eyes set rather deep and straight, appeared very good blue in colour. Very good slightly arched profile, firm chin and level bite. Firm body, matched by limbs and tail. Very good brownish grey points, excellent contrast to off white body that has just a hint of shading.

2.  MASON’S EPITOME DREAMWEAVER. F. (24n) 14.7.08.

Attractive lass with a long wedge, slight pinch to it, ears of size, set quite well upon it, eyes very open when we met and just would not come down even when we soothed her in her pen, (though I noticed that they looked much better later in the day), mid blue in colour. Long lithe body, balanced by limbs and tail.  Longish coat, lies quite smoothly, points toward the lilac end of the caramel range, excellent body contrast.

BoB. GREEN’S Imp GR CH MAPU ALLEGRA. F. (24n) 30.10.04.

CHOCOLATE POINT SIAMESE KITTEN MALE.

2. (1st Withheld) BROCK’S KINGSHAVEN PRINCE KEVEL. M. (24b) 10.3.09.

Young man of good type, with an even equilateral wedge, eyes of good shape and colour, large bat ears that he tilts forward a little. Profile shows a little dent at the bridge, firm chin and level bite. Firm body, rather a prominent sternum at the moment, matching limbs and tail that unfortunately has a visible deviation near the tip, preventing the higher award he otherwise deserved. Points of darkish chocolate showing some brindling, very good contrast to the clear  ivory body.

CHOCOLATE POINT SIAMESE FEMALE.

1. BoB. GILLEN’S NIZMAR SWEET OPTIMIST. F. (24b) 10.12.08.

Shy lass, with an even wedge, ears spaced and set well, eyes of oriental shape set a little straight, good blue shade. Profile nearly straight, chin lines up, bite meets. Strong little body with proportionate limbs and tail. Coat condition good, nice warm mid chocolate points, excellent ivory body for contrast.

AV ORIENTAL SELF ADULT.

1. BROWNING’S CH CIATRA BASHFUL BRUNO. M. (37) 12.1.08.

AV ORIENTAL NON-SELF ADULT.

1. WILLIS’S LEBRETON FINLAY. M. (48 40b) 28.2.08.

Splendid large strong male with a long, even wedge, adorned by large, well aligned ears, eyes set in oriental mode, good blue. Excellent patrician profile, gentlest curve, chin slopes little, incisors just meeting. Splendid, strong body and limbs, very good long tail to balance. Coat close and slick, good chocolate points, softly shaded body, lots of white on shoulders, saddle area, thighs and all down belly, fulfilling the requirements of the standard with ease.

AC ORIENTAL VISITOR’S KITTEN.

1. CASSAR-SIMMOND’S FIORDILISO INFIDELITY. M. (29) 15.1.09.

Very smart youth of very good type and ebullient temperament. Very even wedge enhanced by large fly-away ears, spaced and open, excellent green oriental eyes. Profile virtually straight, chin aligned, bite meets.  Lithe body, limbs and tail match. Good coat condition, warm, sound, darkish chestnut with a splendid shine to it.

2. ELLIS’S EIREACHDAIL MAZPAHSMOSAIC. F. (48e) 20.11.08

AC ORIENTAL NEUTER.

1. HINCHCLIFFE’S Imp GR PR MYLYNN MICKEY FINN. MN. (62 43s) 26.5.06.

One of my favourites, a huge tea cosy of black and silver and of splendid type. Very strong even wedge head, large ears of beautiful balancing size, alignment and flare, vivid green oriental eyes, proud smoothly arched profile, chin lines up, bite meets. Huge strong body, similar limbs, large tufted paws, tail might be a little longer to balance it all. Magnificent flowing coat and plume, dazzling silver undercoat pushing well up the shafts to the black terminal shading, lovely markings on the mask, gentle expression.

AC SIAMESE/BALINESE JUNIOR ADULT.

1. MULLEN’S FOXYPAWS ERICSSON M (32fn) 1.5.08.

Super lad with a strong wedge, well balanced with breadth at the top between large flared ears Almond shaped oriental eyes set just a little straight. Straight profile, firm chin level bite. Very good strong body, matched by limbs and tail. Healthy coat, pale apricot points with faint tabby pattern contrasting to the excellent clear pale body.

2. DAVIES’ BURNTHWAITES SUPER TROUPER. F. (24a) 15.8.08.

Dainty lady of highly individual type, balanced wedge, over which huge ears hover forward like the ostrich feather fans beloved of Hollywood biblical epics usually involving Cleopatra et al.,  oriental eyes of good blue tone. Very good straight profile, level chin and bite. Slender, feminine body, matching limbs and tail. Sleek coat, very good soft blue points, with good contrast to the cool toned body. 8.

3. JONES’ SARAMESE GOODLUCK CHARM. F. (24c) 16.8.08.
x3. DAVIES’ BETHANJO WALKINGONSUNSHINE. F. (32fn) 12.5.08

AC SIAMESE/BALINESE SENIOR ADULT.

1. GIBBONS’ CH RICHDALE LONERANGER. M. (24) 22.2.07.

What a super chap! Long wedge, marginal pinch, broadish top between large flared ears, good blue shade to his almond eyes. Straight profile, chin deep and strong, incisors just meeting. But oh his colour! I have not seen such super seal colour for some time. Matching warm seal points with quite wonderful warmth to his pale fawn body. Yummy.

2. SMOUT’S CH KAMIK THEONEANDONLY. F. (32b1) 11.4.06.

Another very fine exhibit. Mature female with a very even equilateral wedge head, ears excellent for size and placement, flared in alignment, excellent almond inclined eyes of deep blue.  Aristocratic profile, chin precisely aligned, excellent bite.  Balanced, mature body, limbs and tail with a pale tip. Points well broken with various reds. Body shows typical tortie shading but contrast sufficient.

3. RATHBONE’S BELLIS DAZZLE. F. (32 1) 26.3.06.

AC SIAMESE/BALINESE BREEDER’S KITTEN.

1. BROWNING’S PIPPASTRO ALOVE O’FAIR. F. (61p) 24.1.09.

Lovely girl with an even triangular wedge, large spaced and flared ears, oriental almond eyes of mid blue, proud profile. Well developed body with proportionate limbs and tail. Lovely coat, soft and flowing well already. Soft points predominately grey in tone, with excellent apricot breaks producing a most attractive overall picture.

2.WHITING’S THOWRA ANGELO. M. (24a) 7.1.09.

Well grown chap with a medium length wedge showing a pinch, ears set well, oriental eyes of mid blue. Good straight profile, chin lines up as does bite. Soft blue points, excellent coat texture, shady body.

AC SIAMESE/BALINESE NON-BREEDER’S KITTEN.

1. CASSAR-SIMMONDS’ SHADOWSQUAD PRADA. F. (32b1) 23.1.09.

Very pretty girl with an even triangular wedge, perhaps a tiny pinch, excellent oriental, deep blue eyes, large flared ears set in line.  Very good straight profile, chin and bite level. Points of seal well broken by various reds, excellent body clarity for contrast.

2. ATKINSON’S SENSAY SOBRIETY. F. (24c) 26.2.09.

Neat even wedge, large ears, another lass inclined to bonnet, eyes shape oriental, blue acceptable. Profile gently arched with a little angle at the brow. Chin and bite level. Plump little body, slender limbs, tail could be just a little longer. Fluffy coat shows attractive soft lilac points with cool magnolia body contrast.

3. GILLEN’S NIZMAR SWEET OPTIMIST. F. (24b) 10.12.08..

AC SIAMESE/BALINESE MALE NEUTER.

1.CANEY’S GR CH & PR MERRYTAIL MYHINENI MN. (24c) 6.2.07.

Very well balanced boy, but a little unhappy and not really showing himself off well. Good even wedge, ears of size beautifully placed on it. Excellent eyes of super oriental shape and good depth of blue. Profile almost straight, peggy incisors meet. Medium sized body, well balanced by limbs and tail. Lovely mid lilac points, well matched, very good contrast to almost clear magnolia body.. Excellent coat texture.

2. HOWARD & HANBY’S PR AMARRICHI PRICELESS PRINCE. MN. (24) 15.3.07.

A true vocalist. Of good type with a long, slightly pinched wedge, ears well placed and flared, would like them a little larger for balance. Eyes well shaped and of good blue. Very good smoothly arched profile, chin slopes away somewhat, level bite. Long firm body, proportionate limbs and tail> Coat texture good, matched seal points contrasting well with pleasing warm fawn body.

AC SIAMESE/BALINESE VISITOR’S NEUTER.

A strong class.  1. SMOUT’S KAMIK FIRECRACKA MN (32a) 18.7.08.

A most handsome individual, with an even wedge, super eye shape and set, good blue, excellent ears for size and flare, profile dead straight, firm chin and level bite.  Balanced body limbs and tail. Coat of good texture,  good red points, pale warm white body making good contrast. Liked him a lot .

2. SHORE’S EPITOME DREAMCATCHER. MN. (32fn) 14.7.08

Neuter of good type. Long, slightly pinched wedge,  good eye shape and colour, ears well set, would prefer them a little larger for balance, straight profile, level chin and bite. Balanced body, limbs and tail. Healthy coat, warm apricot, with permitted tabby, points, good body contrast.

3. WALKER’S SHIMILEETA WHATACHARMER. FN. (32 1) 4.10.06.
