NOTTS & DERBYS CAT CLUB

24 January, 2009

Dr Bruce Bennett

Many thanks to Beryl, Judy and the Committee for their invitation to this busy and interesting Show and to Liz Johnson who stewarded for me, proving to be both a tower of strength and efficiency, and a happy companion to boot, on a busy day.

ORIENTAL PREMIER MALE.

1. GR PC. LORD’S GR PR TENAJ THEPINKPANTHER. (29c) 3yrs 4mths.

Gentleman of very good balance, just a little wary. Beautiful, even wedge head with width between proportionate ears that showed alignment and flare when he relaxed and decided that we were friend not foe. Eyes show excellent shape and incline, very good depth of green. Gentle angle to his profile, straight above and below, chin firm and bite that meets. Very well matched body, limbs and tail. Super texture to his short close coat, felt like silk, even sound mid lilac shade. Pleasing fellow.

2.RES GR PC. HALLIDAY’S PR TOGHAR TERRACOTTA. (37d) 1yr 6mths.

Elegant youth with an eye catching even triangular wedge head on which large open ears are well spaced, flared and aligned becomingly. Eye shape and incline very good, shade a pale eau de nil. Profile shows a tiny dip, chin lines up, bite meets. Larger body than I thought initially, legs inclined to persistent pudding creation, balanced tail, tiny invisible terminal pip. Excellent texture to his sound bright red coat that shows permitted tabby shading.

Also considered :

ABBOTT’S PR CHENAZZ MR BLUESKY (37a) 1yr 9mths.

Comely lad with a slightly narrow, even wedge head, on which large ears follow its lines well, orientally shaped and inclined eyes, dull green in tone. Profile shows a little scoop below the brow, chin level, bite meets. Splendid large body with proportionate limbs, very good tail length for balance. Coat of good texture, lying smooth and close, virtually sound, even mid blue.

NELSON’S PR TIDDLYPOO JUSTIN TYME (38d) 2yrs 10mths.

Large strong fellow, with a beguiling tendency to plant the occasional kiss. Wedge even, short and strong, broad top between well placed and flared ears, oriental eyes of pale green. Profile gently arched, chin slopes back a little, lower incisors gone. Excellent large strong body, balancing limbs and tail. Soft red tabby pattern clear on the mask and head, over the crown and down the neck, hints of shoulder spotting, faint spots on flanks discernible, tail rings and leg bars there. Contrast between pattern and background might be more defined for preference. Excellent coat texture and super temperament.

SIAMESE/BALINESE PREMIER MALE.

1. GR PC. DAVIES GR PR RENDZINA CAPTAIN SCARLET. (32a) 3yrs 9mths.

Super lad for head type, lovely even wedge with large ears placed in splendid alignment, superb oriental eyes for shape and incline, good blue shade. Gently arching profile, very good muzzle depth, level bite. Body lithe and slender, balancing limbs and tail. Sleek coat shows bright red points contrasting well with the warm white body that shows a little matching shading Excellent temperament to go this his handsome appearance. I understand that he gained Imperial status today; well done.

2. RES GR PC. HOCKEN’S PR EPITOME SUNDANCE. (32a) 2yrs 3mths.

Another handsome red boy, very long and lithe, of good type. Wedge long and even, on which large ears are set and aligned well when relaxed. Eyes of oriental shape and slant, shade a good blue. Angled profile, chin and bite level. Very long body, just a hint spare so that spine a little prominent, long slender limbs and very good tail length to balance it all. Points a soft red with good warm white body for contrast.

Also considered.

SHAWLEY’S UK GR PR HIGHIQ XTRAVAGANZA. (32.1) 3yrs 8mths.

What a wonderful picture this boy makes when viewed full face. Beautiful, lengthy wedge on which excellent large ears are placed in line and flared beautifully. Wonderful shape to his inclined eyes of very good deep blue. Profile shows a long flat forehead with an angle at the brow, a somewhat shallow chin and a bite that meets. Strong body, balancing limbs and tail. Close coat shows dense seal tabby points, pattern well defined, with hints of warmth, body now showing rather heavy dark shading.

TORTIE POINT ADULT.

1. CC. BROCK’S MEILLAND TRULY TEMPTING. F. (32b1) 1yr 5mths.

Pleasing lady of good type, with a well balanced wedge, good breadth at the top between large ears, flared well. Eyes of very good blue shade and oriental shape. Very good straight profile, level bite, gums a little red. Wriggly body, rather dainty as yet, balancing limbs and tail. Seal points all well mingled with various reds, good contrast to the body. Coat slightly long, good sleek texture.

2. MEE’S KINGSHAVEN HONEYBABE. F. (32b8) 9mths 1wk.

Another attractive lass of good type. Even wedge of length, on which are set spaced ears that flared well when out of the pen, before which they explored every point of the compass. Eyes a little full, good blue. Profile just gently arched, chin and bite level. Well developed body, matching limbs and tail. Coat texture good, soft points well broken with rather pale shades, good contrast to body.

BoB. BROCK’S CH KARAMUSHI TUTI FRUITY F. (32b1) 1yr 5mths.

Lovely lady with an elegant, balanced wedge, broad at the top between large, flared ears, well aligned. Eyes of oriental shape and incline, excellent deep blue. Profile virtually straight, good depth to the muzzle and chin, level bite. Body well developed, limbs and tail to match. Coat marginally long, good texture. Seal points all well broken by palish shades, excellent pale body to contrast, soft shading only.

Also considered for BoB.

MASON’S CH EPITOME SWEET DREAMS.F. (32b8) 2yrs 3mths.

Attractive girl, with a good wedge, eyes of excellent shape and depth of blue, excellent broad top between large well spaced and flared ears. Profile shows a little dip below the brow, chin could be deeper. Good body for strength, tail and limbs balancing. Close coat, very attractive pale body, soft caramel points all well broken by pale shades.

TABBY POINT SIAMESE ADULT MALE.

1. CC withheld. WITHERS’ SAMSARA CHARME (Imp) M. (32.1) 1yr 2mths.

Youth with a short even wedge, balanced nicely when viewed full face, ears set well upon it. Oriental eyes set a little straight, of good blue and innocent expression. Gently arched profile, chin shallow and recedes but bite just meets. Firm body, matched by limbs and tail in keeping . Healthy coat, soft seal pattern, well marked forehead M, thumb prints, single eye lines, tail rings for about half its length, soft leg bars, gentle body shading. Sorry to withhold, but at present the jaw line results in a lack of the masculinity I would expect in head type in a male of his age.

TABBY POINTED SIAMESE ADULT FEMALE.

1. CC. BoB. WITHERS’ STYPERSON STARGAZER F. (32.1) 1yr.

Handsome lady with a long even, elegant wedge, adorned by large ears set well upon it that she occasionally bonnets a little, attractively inclined oriental eyes, of pleasing blue. Superior profile, just the gentlest snooty arch to it, chin lines up, excellent dentition. Firm, sizeable body, proportionate limbs and tail that needs a little more length to balance ideally. Coat of healthy texture, showing forehead patterning, thumb prints, single cheek pencillings, tail rings and leg bars. Excellent contrast between seal pattern and the striking pale body.

2. ATKINSON’S SHIMILEETA MOREOFTHATJAZZ. F. (32.1) 1yr 4mths.

Girl of good overall type with a wedge of mid length, inclined eyes of clear blue, sizeable ears set and flared well. Profile shows an arch above the brow, chin correct, bite level. Firm body of mid length, proportionate limbs, another tail that would benefit from a little more length for balance. Coat shows forehead M, thumb prints, double cheek lines, faint leg bars and just sufficient tail ringing. Satisfactory contrast evident on the body.

RED POINT SIAMESE NEUTER.

1. PC. WEBSTER’S NENPEMA RED RUMBA. MN. (32a) 11mths 1wk.

Well grown youth of good type with a shorter, even wedge, on which ears are well placed and flared; might be just a tad larger for preference. Eye shape oriental, blue good. Profile shows an arch at the brow, chin and bite level. Strongly developed body, balancing limbs and tail in proportion. Coat smooth and fine, showing soft red points with excellent contrast to the clear warm white body tone. Still looks a little innocent but he’ll learn.

BoB. . DAVIES GR PR RENDZINA CAPTAIN SCARLET. (32a) 3yrs 9mths.

AC BREEDER’S ORIENTAL ADULT.

1. ARMITAGE’S CH CHAPELROSE OHMEOHMY. M (37a) 1yr 2mths.

Very striking lad of fine type with an even wedge set off by large fly away ears and super oriental green eyes smouldering like a film star. Body long and slender, limbs similar with a marked inclination to knead everything in sight, tail balances. Smooth coat of lustrous sound darker blue, a little skin flaking evident. Might perhaps be just a little more masculine for preference, but he presents a formidable picture.

2. WESTOBY’S SOLARUS FUNNYHONEY. F. (37y) 10mths.

Pretty adolescent lady of good type with a shorter, even wedge on which ears are well placed to flatter. Oriental eyes need more green to them at present. Very good profile, firm chin, level bite. Neat body, matched limbs, dainty paws, balancing tail. Coat of healthy qualities, tone darkish mushroom, almost sound, with warm breaks.

AC SENIOR CAT

1. HAGGAR’S CH SEIDO SLIPSTREAM. M. (29c) 2yrs 9mths.

Gent of good type and pleasing affect, with a mid length wedge, breadth at the top between ears that are well placed and flared, oriental eyes of clear light green. Very good profile, chin slopes away, lower incisors now lacking. Large muscular body, balanced limbs and tail, which shows a little terminal irregularity. Coat shows excellent soundness, even, somewhat darker lilac, good texture.

AC ORIENTAL KITTEN NOT BRED BY EXHIBITOR.

1. LORD’S DRUIDSWAY BLACKPANTHER. M. (37) 8mths 2wks.

Very stylish lad full face, with a long wedge, broad top between very large fly away ears. Excellent green to his oriental eyes. Good straight profile, chin needs strength, bite just meets. Body long and lithe, excellent length to his tail that is a little knobbly at the tip. Coat sleek and close lying, lovely sound, glossy black, a little flaking evident.

2. LYNN’S FISEPO LEGSBY LUCINDA. F. (48 40e) 6mths 2wks.

Little lady showing lovely balance. Even, mid length wedge, marginal pinch, ears well spaced and flared in line, eyes oriental, slightly open, brilliant blue. Good straight profile, with depth of muzzle, firm chin, incisor line slightly uneven, basically meeting. Healthy kitten coat shows dramatic seal mask, well broken by bright reds, limbs showing softer reds to the breaks. Body shows good contrast to the points and extensive white patching on flanks and back. White continuous down body underparts, present on all four limbs and in total well over the required one third proportion. Only a little white seeps into the black areas.

3. ABBOTT’S TILDEN WHISPERING CHENAZZ. F. (35) 4mths

Ex3 CRUDEN’S OOPSEEIDEE MAKING WAVES. MN (41n) 7mths 1wk.

Ex3. WEBB’S PIPPASTRO BLUECALIFORNIA. M. (62 20a) 4mths 1wk.

AC ARISTOCRAT ORIENTAL NEUTER.

1. HALLIDAY’S TOGHAR PASHMINA. F. (37h) 1yr 6mths.

Striking girl of good type with presence. Balanced even wedge, of mid length on which ears of good size are well set. Eyes oriental and of clear light green. Profile shows a slight dent at the bridge, chin firm, bite level. Well developed body and limbs and tail that balanced and that showed, in the morning, what appeared to be a kink which strangely seemed almost imperceptible in the afternoon; could it have been an injury on the way to the Show, I wonder. Very pleasing lady notwithstanding.

AC DEBUTANTE ORIENTAL NEUTER.

1. MANSFIELD’S TOGHAR SERENGETI. MN. (37d) 10mths 1wk.

Boy with an elegant, even wedge, good breadth at the top between large ears set very well upon it. Oriental eyes of bright green. Profile undulates just a smidge, chin lines up, bite meets. Slender, adolescent body and limbs, tail of length to balance. Coat of soft texture, good clear light red, permitted soft tabby patterning evident throughout.

AC JUNIOR ORIENTAL NEUTER.

1. HALLIDAY’S TOGHAR PASHMINA. F. (37h) 1yr 6mths.

AC SENIOR ORIENTAL NEUTER.

1. LORD’S GR PR TENAJ THEPINKPANTHER. (29c) 3yrs 4mths.

AC SIAMESE/BALINESE NOT HAVING WON A CC.

1. FOSTER’S BOSSSKIP LOTTIE. F. (24a) 11mths 4wks.

Well balanced girl with a good even wedge head on which proportionate ears are set and flared well in line. Shapely eyes of a smoky blue shade. Profile shows the merest dent at the bridge, chin aligned well, excellent dentition and bite. Body well developed with limbs and tail to match. Soft mid blue points with sleek body that shows a little toning shading, but overall contrast and cool tone good.

2. BROWN’S ADSETAM JOSEPHINE SUNBEAM. F. (32a) 2yrs 2mths.

Girl of good type with a medium wedge and ears of size the set of which may well have been good but she was firmly determined not to let us see it. Eye shape basically oriental, marginally full perhaps, pupils dilated with adrenalin, blue looked good. Profile almost straight, chin lined up, bite meets. Medium sized body, matching limbs and tail. Coat texture good in spite of her alarms and excursions, bright red on her ears, excellent contrast to the pale warm white body.

AC MAIDEN SIAMESE/BALINESE ADULT.

1. LYNN’S SIMPLISIAM SECRET AGENT. M. (32c) 9mths 3wks.

Youth with a balanced wedge, pleasing blue to his well shaped eyes, ears smartly set, aligned and flared. Profile shows just a hint of superior convex arch, chin and bite satisfactory. Firm slender body, slender limbs, neat paws, balancing tail. Close lying coat, points are rather warm for comfort in a cream, good pale body for contrast.

AC BREEDER’S SIAMESE/BALINESE KITTEN.

1. HOWARTH’S MIYASAMA FREDDIES GIRL. F. (32b1) 6mths 4wks.

Smart lass of good type, even wedge head, eyes well shaped, clear blue, good broad top between large flared ears. Proudly arched profile, good strong chin, bite meets. Graceful firm body, balanced length of limb, neat paws, tail might be slightly longer for balance. Coat a little long, shows attractive seal points well broken with good contrast to the excellent pale clear unshaded coat.

2. JONES’ SARAMESE ALWAYSONMYMIND. F. (24c) 5mths 1wk.

Very appealing kitten of very good type and colour. Wedge long and even , graced by lovely large ears set and flared a la mode, eyes of good shape and colour. Straight profile, chin lines up neatly, but to my surprise the incisors are undershot, which cost her first place I’m afraid. Graceful body and limbs, balancing tail, lovely soft, even lilac points with excellent contrast to the clear unshaded magnolia body.

3. HANDLEY’S BABADAG MIDSOMERNITE DREAM. F. (24) 5mths.

Nice little lady of sound type, wedge even, though a touch blunt at the muzzle, oriental eyes of good blue, ears of size, set quite well. Arched profile, chin lines up, bite meets, I think, as she was determined not to let it be seen. Well developed body, limbs and tail to match. Coat close and smooth, dense seal points, excellent contrast to the somewhat cool toned body. Very committed to her lunch.

AC 32 SERIES KITTEN.

1. . HOWARTH’S MIYASAMA FREDDIES GIRL. F. (32b1) 6mths 4wks.

2. PALMER’S STYPERSON TOP-DRAWER. F. (32 1) 6mths 3wks.

Girl with a good even wedge head, oriental eyes set a mite straight, good blue. Ears of quite extraordinary size, so large that she seemed unable to hold them up fully, but they were usually held folded over forwards below the horizontal, and remained so even when she was asleep (they looked for all the world like certain of those huge hats worn by bored looking ladies in the Royal enclosure at Ascot, killer heels, tightly rolled brolly and papparazzi in tow!). Good straight profile, excellent chin and level bite. Long firm body, balanced by limbs and tail. Coat close and smooth, dusty seal tabby points, body gently shaded in similar tones.

3.HIRST’S TOGHAR MAID TOORDER. F. (32 1) 3mths 2wks.

AC DEBUTANTE SIAMESE/BALINESE NEUTER.

1. GOURLEY & WARD’S UK GR CH SHERMESE PEPPERMINT. FN. (24) 5yrs 9mths.

Lovely large, strong mature lady, confident and poised, with an even wedge, large ears set well to flatter it, oriental eyes of good blue shade for her maturity. Long straight forehead, gentl e angle at the bridge, then straight to the nose leather, good depth of muzzle, chin lines up, bite meets. Large strong body, limbs to match, tail could be a little longer to balance. Dense seal points, body slightly shaded, but contrast excellent for her age.

2. LAMBERT & CROWLEY’S JOHPAS SUNNYDAZE. MN (32fn) 10mths 3wks.

Huge strong gent of good type, with an even wedge on which large ears are set and flared well. Attractive eyes for shape and colour. Excellent straight profile, strong chin, level bite. Long, strong, well balanced limbs and tail to match. Healthy coat texture, shows soft apricot points, excellent contrast to the warm white body.

3. BLACKBOURN’S PLEZETOBE PARDON MY FRENCH. FN (24a) 1yr 9mths.

Ex3 WEBSTER’S NANPEMA RED RUMBA. MN. (32a) 11mths 1wk.

AC SENIOR SIAMESE/BALINESE NEUTER.

1. HOCKEN’S PR EPITOME SUNDANCE. (32a) 2yrs 3mths.

AC 32 SERIES NEUTER.

1. BENNETT’S CH DAZZLING SWEETALKING GUY MN. (32.8) 1yr 11mths.

Super large neuter with a strong, lengthy wedge, on which large ears are flared well., appealing expression in his deep blue eyes. Arched profile, excellent chin and bite. Big strong well balanced body and limbs, tail to match. Excellent soft caramel tabby patterning to his points with good contrast to the close lying pale coat on the body. Impressive.

2. HOCKEN’S PR EPITOME SUNDANCE. (32a) 2yrs 3mths.

3 SHAWLEY’S UK GR PR HIGHIQ XTRAVAGANZA. MN. (32.1) 3yrs 8mths.

AV ORIENTAL ADULT, KITTEN OR NEUTER.

1. READ’S ADAJAN CAPABILITY BROWN. MN. (48 38b) 1yr 9mths.

Mature gentleman of good type with a strong wedge on which ears of good size are well placed though would prefer just slightly more flare, eyes slightly open but shaped well, pale green in tone. Very good, very gently convex profile, excellent chin and bite. Very large strong body, limbs and tail in keeping. Sparkling white on mask, shoulders, nape, sit-upon area, all four limbs and continuous down tummy as required, well above the stipulated one third of body area. The pattern in the pigmented areas shows the appropriate tracings on the upper mask and down the nape, though the spine line looks triple on the large ‘saddle’ patch, and would appropriately be more broken; spots on the flanks show linkage and look rather more mackerel than typically spotted. Clear, broad tail rings. The colour is dark sound chocolate, typical in the breed, and the ground colour also rather dark, but overall the tone is quite rich and the pattern clearly delineated. Solemn demeanour, treading carefully.
