An enjoyable day with some lovely cats. Many thanks to my steward Phil Walsh for his excellent handling of the cats and great company, I look forward to the next time. Also my thanks to Lorraine for the invitation to judge and to the Durham County Cat Club for their hospitality.

AC BRITISH GRAND CHAMPION MALE

1 IGR CC HARRISON’S IGR CH ADCINSH SILVER EDWIN 30s M 31.3.05

Excellent size and weight to this four year old boy well muscled and showing himself off well. Head has full cheeks to a round face when viewed from the front with handsome jowls. Good breadth to skull and rounded top of head with good width between neat ears set far apart so following the outer contours of the head, small in size and rounded at tips. In profile rounded brow, broad nose just a trifle long for perfection and spoilt by very slight bump. Level bite and medium depth, level chin. Large and well open eyes set wide apart and slightly pale green in colour. Short neck to stocky, weighty body with fairly short, level back, low on legs and with a lovely broad, deep chest, equally massive across shoulders and rump. Short, strong, well boned legs and large, rounded paws. Good tail, medium in length, thicker at base and rounded at tip. Coat a trifle long but with good density and crisp texture. Black Silver Spotted of silver ground colour with dense black markings. Very slight tarnishing to muzzle and paws. Clear facial markings with ‘M’ on face and pencil lines on cheeks. Lines running over top of head breaking into spots at shoulders. Well defined spotting on body just showing slight downward linkage back from shoulders. Broken bracelets and spots on legs, spots down to his toes and rings on tail. Lovely temperament.

Attractive four year old lady with good overall balance and good muscle tone. Head has full cheeks to a nice round face with good breadth to skull and rounded top of head with good width between the ears set far apart so following the outer contours of the head, small to medium in size and rounded at tips. Profile shows rounded brow and fairly short, broad nose which rounds slightly near tip. Level bite and strong, firm, deep chin. Large and well open eyes, rather pale green in colour but set wide apart. Short neck, compact body of good size and weight with a short level back, low on legs and with a well rounded chest. Short, well boned legs and firm, rounded paws. Medium length tail, thicker at base and rounded at tip. Fairly short, dense coat with a crisp texture. Black Silver Tabby of bright silver ground colour with a dense black, classic pattern. Slight tarnishing to muzzle. Clear facial markings, good butterfly outline over shoulders, three parallel lines down back and oyster shaped patches on flanks. Super temperament.

AV FOREIGN GRAND PREMIER MALE

Large four year old boy who really sold himself. Head shows short wedge from the tip of the nose to eyes and equidistant from the eyes to ears. Broad top of head with flat appearance between the ears. Good prominent whisker pads making a broad muzzle. Blue nose leather. In profile straight forehead to upper eye level, very shallow concave curve then nose straight to tip. Level bite and good depth, level chin. Large, pointed ears, wide at base and vertically set with the outer line to follow the outer contours of the face. Eyes set wide apart, almond in shape giving a gentle expression and green in colour. Large, long, well muscled body of medium bone and very good weight still looking elegant. Long proportionate legs to balance body and small oval paws with blue pads. Moderately long, gently tapering tail to balance body. Good plushy double coat, with a dense undercoat. Fine and soft in texture, lovely and short and upstanding. Even medium blue in colour with a light silvery sheen, over head and paws, sound to roots. Excellent temperament.

Very good size and weight to this nearly five year old lady with a good firm feel to her. Medium length body with proportionate, shapely legs and neat oval paws. Well shaped tail of good length to balance body, just feels slightly thick at tip. Coat fairly short and close lying and of good texture. Slightly deep lilac in colour paler over shoulders and with slightly bluey tone to contrast masking on face and ears. Fairly short, blunt wedge. Very good width to gently rounded top of head between well set and shaped ears of goodly size. Slight rounding to brow, good nose break and fairly short, straight nose. Level bite and medium depth, level chin. Very good size and shape to pale yellow eyes, well set and with a ‘typical‘ burmese expression. Nice natured.

RGCC HERRINGTON’S CH TEAPOT TICKITTY BOO 27j F 20.2.08

Three plus year old lady of very good size and weight. Medium length body with proportionate shapely legs and neat oval paws. Well shaped tail of good length to balance body. Coat is fairly short and close lying and of excellent texture. Lilac Tortie of nicely mingled deepish lilac with shades of cream. Very good width to gently rounded top of head between well set and shaped ears of generous size. Gentle rounding to brow, fairly good nose break, nose a bit long but straight. Level bite and fair depth chin. Good size and shape to pale chartreuse eyes set well apart. Sweet natured.

Well developed lovely large fellow not quite two years of age. Lovely head medium in length and of good breadth being slightly less than the length. Fairly full cheeks, high cheek bones and handsome jowls. Excellent tall, large ears, well feathered, wide at base, set high but well apart and tapering to appear pointed at long, tufted tips. Round shape to green eyes, spaced wide apart and with slightly oblique aperture and set. Strong muzzle with a strong chin and level bite. Excellent size and weight to large body, solid and muscular and with good breadth to chest. Long body, square rump with proportionate length substantial legs giving rectangular appearance. Large round paws with tufts emanating from under paws. Excellent tail, long, wide at base and tapering towards the tip and with long, flowing fur. Well prepared coat with good undercoat with more substantial glossy top coat which is still developing length down sides, good texture. Fur shorter on head, neck and shoulders and lengthening down back, flanks and tail. Good breeches and shaggy belly fur and full frontal ruff. Brown Tabby and White of bright copper agouti ground colour with black and brown classic markings. White to chin, short bib, bikini top, centre of tummy, front paws and back boots. Lovely temperament.

Just eleven month old boy so still developing. Head is medium in length and of good breadth being slightly less than the length. Fairly full cheeks and high cheek bones. Shallow concave curve at the nasal bridge being equidistant from the ear line and the tip of the nose and with nose of uniform width. Excellent ears, large, feathered, wide at base, set high but well apart and tapering to appear pointed at tips with long tufts. Full and round shape to yellow eyes, spaced wide apart and with slightly oblique aperture and set. Fairly square, broad muzzle with a fair depth chin and level bite. Large, long body, solid and muscular, square rump and good breadth to chest giving a rectangular appearance. Proportionate length, substantial legs and large round paws with slight tufts emanating from under paws. Moderately long neck. Full tail, long and wide at base and tapering towards the tip and with long profuse, flowing fur. Good undercoat with more substantial glossy top coat of excellent texture. Fur shorter on head, neck and shoulders and starting to lengthen down back and flanks. Slight breeches and shaggy belly fur with frontal ruff still developing. Blue Tabby and White with a fairly well defined blue classic pattern against a mushroom ground colour. White to chin, bib, front paws, centre of tummy and high back boots.

Proportionate length, well boned legs and huge round paws which he is still growing into, tufts emanating from under paws. Moderately long neck. Long tail, wide at base and tapering towards the tip and with long profuse, flowing fur. Good undercoat with more substantial glossy top coat of good texture. Fur shorter on head, neck and shoulders and some lengthening down back and flanks. Good breeches, shaggy belly fur and full frontal ruff developing. Cream Silver Shaded of pale cream grading to silvery cream base colour. Super temperament.

Tall ears, feathered, wide at base, set high but well apart and tapering to appear pointed at tips with super tufts. Full and round shape to green eyes, spaced wide apart and with slightly oblique aperture and set. Fairly broad muzzle which I would prefer slightly squarer, fair depth chin and level bite. Good length body, firm and muscular, square rump and good breadth to chest giving a rectangular appearance. Proportionate length, medium boned legs and large round paws with tufts emanating from under paws. Moderately long neck. Long tail, wide at base and tapering towards the tip and with long profuse, flowing fur. Good undercoat with more substantial glossy top coat of good texture. Fur shorter on head, neck and shoulders and good length down back and flanks. Some breeches and shaggy belly fur and good frontal ruff. Tortie Silver Tabby with a black and charcoal classic pattern overlaid with pale shades of red against a silver base colour. Has a worried expression but sweet natured.

A really super three plus year old boy who had the look of Michael Jackson in Thriller. Good head of medium length, perhaps just a fraction long for perfection, and of good breadth with fairly full cheeks and high cheek bones. Nicely balanced profile line with shallow concave curve at the nasal bridge being equidistant from the ear line and the tip of the nose and with nose of uniform width. Tall, large ears, feathered, wide at base, set high but well apart and tapering to appear pointed at tufted tips. Full and round shape to eyes, spaced wide apart and with slightly oblique aperture and set, pale green in colour. Strong, square muzzle with a firm, level chin and level bite. Large body, solid and muscular and with a broad chest. Long body, square rump with proportionate length, well boned legs giving rectangular appearance. Large round paws with slight tufts emanating from under paws. Moderately long neck. Long tail, wide at base and tapering towards the tip and with long profuse, flowing fur. Superb coat with a good undercoat with more substantial glossy top coat of good texture and beautifully presented. Fur shorter on head, neck and shoulders and lengthening down back, flanks and tail. Good breeches and shaggy belly fur and excellent frontal ruff. Black Smoke and White with white to chin, bib, front paws, between front and back legs and one back boot and one sock. Lovely smoke effect with minimal breakthrough of silver through the black surface colour. Lovely temperament. My choice for Best Semi Longhaired Neuter.

Head is slightly out of proportion to well grown body at present but is medium in length and of good breadth being slightly less than the length. Fairly full cheeks and high cheek bones. Shallow concave curve at the nasal bridge being equidistant from the ear line and the tip of the nose and with nose of uniform width. Excellent tall, large ears, feathered, wide at base, set high but well apart and tapering to appear pointed at tufted tips. Full and round shape to eyes, spaced wide apart and with slightly oblique aperture and set, yellow in colour. Fairly broad muzzle could be squarer, but with a medium depth level chin and level bite. Large, long body, solid and muscular, square rump and good breadth to chest giving a rectangular appearance. Proportionate length, substantial legs and large round paws with tufts emanating from under paws. Moderately long neck. Long tail, wide at base and tapering towards the tip and with long profuse, flowing fur. Very good coat with good undercoat with more substantial glossy top coat of good texture. Fur shorter on head, neck and shoulders and lengthening down back, flanks and tail. Good breeches, shaggy belly fur and good frontal ruff. Red Tabby with a classic pattern of deep red against an apricot ground colour. Clear facial markings but pattern on flanks slightly unclear. Lovely temperament.

Rounded brow and fairly short, straight, broad nose. Level bite but shallow chin. Large and well open eyes set wide apart, green in colour at centre but paling to yellow at outer edge. Compact body, short neck, short level back, low on legs and with a broad, deep chest. Stocky legs and firm, rounded paws. Short tail but thicker at base and rounded at tip. Coat is fairly short with some density but is the soft side of crisp in texture. Black Silver Tabby of silver ground colour with black markings. Nice facial markings, butterfly outline at shoulders, three parallel lines down back, oyster shaped patches on flanks one of which is broken on one side. Broken bracelets on legs and spots on his toes. Slight tarnishing at muzzle. Nice natured.

Coat fairly short with good density and fairly crisp texture. Brown Spotted British of golden brown base colour which greys minimally to roots. Lovely black pattern with clear facial markings and lines over head breaking into spots at spine. Clearly defined black spots with lots of small spots on sides, slight downward linkage back from shoulders. Rings on tail. Broken lines on legs shortening to spots on paws.

Excellent tail medium in length, thicker at base and rounded at tip. Very good coat, fairly short and dense and crisp in texture. Black Silver Spotted of bright, silver ground colour with well defined black markings. Clear facial markings and good well defined black spotting on sides just showing slight downward linkage back from shoulders. Slight tarnishing to muzzle and front paws. Nice natured.

Pleasing profile line with rounded brow and short, straight, broad nose. Level bite and medium depth, level chin. Large and well open eyes set wide apart, green in colour with eyelids outlined in black. Good size and weight to compact body with a short level back, low on legs and with a full, rounded chest. Lovely balanced girl with short, proportionate legs and firm, rounded paws. Medium length tail, thicker at base and rounded at tip. Coat a trifle long but with excellent density and a crisp texture. Golden Tipped of golden apricot ground colour with nice and even black tipping. Tipping part way down legs and gradually fading towards paws. Very faint tabby markings on flanks.

Rounded brow and short, straight, broad nose. Level bite and good depth chin. Large and well open orange coloured eyes set wide apart. Short neck to cobby body with a short level back, low on legs and with a full, deep chest. Short, strong, well boned legs and firm, rounded paws. Medium length tail, thicker at base and rounded at tip. Coat a trifle long but with good denseness and a crisp texture. Slightly dark cream colour for my preference but nice and even, very faint ghost tabby markings. Nice natured.

Very good size and weight to this nearly two year old boy with good muscle tone. Head seemed slightly small in proportion to his body at the moment. Round face and full cheeks with good breadth to skull and rounded top of head with good width between ears set far apart so following the outer contours of the head, medium in size and rounded at tips. Good profile line with rounded brow and short, straight, broad nose. Level bite and medium depth, level chin. Golden colour to fairly large and well open eyes set wide apart. For perfection I would prefer them just slightly larger. Short neck to cobby body with a short level back, low on legs and with a broad, deep chest. Short, well boned legs and large, rounded paws. Slightly long tail but thicker at base and rounded at tip. Coat a bit long and needs to develop more density but with a fairly crisp texture. Even, cool toned cream which fades slightly to roots. Faint tabby markings on body, necklaces and rings on tail. Nice natured fellow.

BRITISH BI-COLOURED NEUTER

Short, dense coat with a crisp texture. Blue and White Bi-Coloured British of medium blue which pales minimally to roots. White to lips around chin and neck (chin is blue), broken collar, broad chest, front and back legs part broken by colour, slight bleeding of white into blue colour.

Black Tipped British of very pale silver ground colour with a light effect to the black tipping, slightly more intense down spine and tail. Nice natured.

Pleasing profile line with rounded brow and short, straight, broad nose. Level bite but slightly shallow chin. Green eyes large and well open and set wide apart. Compact body, short neck, short level back, low on legs and with a nicely rounded chest. Short, medium boned legs and firm, rounded paws. Medium length tail thicker at base and rounded at tip . Coat is fairly short with good density but just the soft side of crisp in texture. Black Tipped British of bright, silver ground colour with very light, black tipping effect, very slightly more intense down spine and tail. Naughty but nice.

Confident young male just nine months of age and still maturing. Gently rounded contours to head and gently rounded from top of head to brow. I would like to see him develop a little more breadth to gently rounded top of head between the ears. Moderate wedge tapers to a slightly rounded muzzle, formed by a slight indentation. Good in profile with slight nose break then nose straight to tip. Level bite and firm, level chin. Large, well cupped ears, pricked and with furry inner edges, no tufts at tips, set wide apart. Outer line of the ear follows the outer contours of the face. Large, expressive, hazel coloured eyes set well apart, full almond shape and oriental in set. Lithe and muscular, medium build and size to body, deceptively weighty, straight back and rounded rib cage. Long slender legs in proportion to body and small oval feet. Tail, thick at base, tapering gently to tip and of good length to balance body. Excellent coat is short, fine, dense in texture and close lying. Usual Abyssinian with ruddy orange base colour and lovely black ticking showing distinct bands of colour. Good facial markings with black pigmentation lines from eye to top of head and, pencil lines on cheeks. Pale hair around eyes and dark edge to eyelid. Ruddy orange ears with darker tone at tips. Cream chin and lips. Black ticking colour extending down spine and tail to a black tip and black half way up the hocks. Faint broken necklace. Lovely temperament.

ASIAN TIFFANIE FEMALE NEUTER

Elegant seventeen month old girl, deceptively weighty. Medium length and build to body with good muscle tone. Well rounded chest and straight back. Slender, proportionate legs and neat oval paws. Very good length and shape to slightly tapering tail with a good tip, good length to fur giving a nice plume effect. Coat is fine and close lying with a good texture and of fairly good length but showing seasonal changes and needs more length down sides. Black Tiffanie of even black colour which has a rusty tinge at roots. Wedge is wide at cheek bones and has a blunt muzzle. Good width to slightly rounded top of head between well set and shaped, medium sized ears. In profile slight rounding to brow, fairly good nose break but nose a bit long although straight. Level bite but slightly shallow chin. Yellow eyes of good size and shape and set well apart. Sweet natured.

OCICAT FEMALE NEUTER

Two and a half year old lady who was enjoying herself. Modified wedge, longer than wide with slight curve from muzzle to cheek. Profile shows gentle rise from bridge of nose to brow, only a hint of a minimal dip at eye line, straight line to tip. Broad, well defined muzzle and moderate whisker pinch. Level bite and fair depth chin. Moderately large ears, wide at base and set well apart and gently rounded at tufted tips. She tended to hold them slightly upright but the angle looked better when she relaxed. Large eyes almond in shape and set angled slightly upwards to the outer ear, yellow in colour. Medium to large, solid body with good muscle tone. Deep, broad chest and straight back. Substantial bone. Medium length, proportionately strong legs and oval compact paws. Fairly long tail to balance body, broad at base and slightly tapering to tip. Short coat of good texture, close lying and with a sheen to it. Blue Ocicat with blue pattern against a paler ground colour with mushroomy overtones. Pattern better defined on left hand side. Clear facial markings. Lovely temperament.

Six plus year old boy with a medium to long, weighty body and proportionate, shapely legs and neat oval paws. Well shaped tail needs a fraction more length to balance body. Coat is a trifle long but close lying and of good texture. Nice and even, rich, deep brown in colour with a good sheen to it. Good width to gently rounded top of head between well set and shaped ears of goodly size. In profile slight flattening to brow, fairly good nose break, nose a bit long and rounds slightly at tip. Level bite and fair depth chin. Just looking a trifle fine at muzzle. Pale chartreuse eyes of good size and shape widely set. Excellent temperament.
