East Sussex Cat Club Show 20119th April 2011Thank you to Helen and Vanessa for the invite to judge at this show which has been dormant for the last 2 years. James was also invited to judge and Helen reminded me a few days before not to forget to bring him along! I stewarded for James as we went through our books, which allowed me to handle all the cats even more, which was great! Lunch was fab and James was allowed a side salad along with his main meal, I can’t tell you all how happy that made him! The Overall Best in Show Winner was Steve Crow and Tommy Goss’ gorgeous Kagura Prince Caspian – a well deserved win picked by John Hansson. The show was run brilliantly by Helen and Vanessa who make a great show team and I am looking forward to next year’s show already! Non-Pedigree Pets813 - AC Non-Pedigree Master Cat (Grand Class) Female1st GMC to Master J Aldridge-Snell’s GMC FUDGE (Ginger & White (SH)) FNA really pretty ginger and white female with the prettiest markings on her face and across her body. Good weight with a really nice soft coat. We enjoyed a small cuddle and a lovely rub! Fudge went onto be awarded Best Non Pedigree and then an amazing Overall Household Pet award and is featured on May’s front cover of Cat Planet Monthly! Pedigree Pets827 - AC Tabby LH/SLH Cat (Except Red or Tortie) Of Any Pattern With or Without White Female1st MC BOG to Mr C Potts’ Pickle Potts (Tabby & White SLH) FNVery quiet and not really in the mood for a cuddle today, preferring to sit in her litter tray and have a stroke. Pretty SLH Tabby and white SLH cat with pretty ear furnishings. Coat in excellent condition, beautifully presented. 829a - AOC or Pattern LH/SLH Cat with or without white (Ticked, Tipped, Smoke, Pointed etc) Male1st MC BOG to Mrs S Ruse’s FELIX (Back & White LH) MNLOVED this cat – I had the joy of handling him a few times through the day and each and every time enjoyed a ‘mahoosive’ cuddle, he was so silky and soft, a real joy to handle with a beautifully presented coat. A strikingly contrasted coat in black and white. What a great temperament and how lucky are his owners to have such a great cat! Felix was my choice for Best Pedigree Pet and was certainly my cat of the day! 2nd Ms C Mason’s PAWPAW (Blue Point LH) MNWhat a shame to meet the winner as this cat is a beautiful big blue boy who was beautifully presented and groomed, he really enjoyed a play and a cuddle and had a lovely kittenish quality to his temperament. Clearly well loved and well played with, trying to grab me through the pen whilst I judged his neighbour! 829b - AOC or Pattern LH/SLH Cat with or without white (Ticked, Tipped, Smoke, Pointed etc) Female1st MC to Mr D & Mrs K Gardner’s ELLIE (Blue Point LH) FNA little hiss and not happy to be judged or cuddled, however we had a brief cuddle and she felt very soft and had a great coat. Ellie much preferred being left alone today! 830a - Self (Single Colour) SH Cat With or Without White Male1st MC BOG to Miss M Chapman’s MC BRUNO (Brown SH) MNI really do adore this cat, he was a close runner for Best Pedigree Pet with Felix, it took me ages to decide between the two. Bruno is a gorgeous, well built and friendly cat who I want to steal away to live with me, I can’t stop talking to him or admiring him as I am judging. We had a lovely cuddle during which I was able to admire his silky thick coat. Beautifully presented and obviously very well loved. 2nd Ms S Hope’s HUGO (Blue Self SH) MNWas absolutely desperate to kill my tickle stick, completely energetic and fun with more energy that I have seen in a shelf full of batteries! A good size and weight with a lovely coat. 3rd Ms G Allen’s TEDDY (Chocolate SH) MNBig gorgeous chocolate Burmese boy who obviously likes a good dinner, we had a lovely cuddle and a purry stroke, he didn’t want to play today though, preferring a snooze in his pen. 830b - Self (Single Colour) SH Cat With or Without White FemaleConsidered for BOG – Ms S Hope’s GMC INCA FNLovely little black girl who kept trying to steal my tickle stick whilst I was playing with her neighbour. Gorgeous shiny coat in great condition. Whilst I wrote my notes she was prodding my tummy through the bars of her pen with her paw to get my attention! Shame for Inca to meet the BOG winner. 834 - Any Colour or pattern LH or SLH Kitten, with or without white, Female1st BOG to ROZA (Brown Tabby SLH) FWhat a pretty tabby SLH girl with a really soft and flowing coat in great condition. We had a huge cuddle for at least 5 minutes where she fell asleep in my arms all curled up and gorgeous. Great temperament. Best Household Pet Kitten! Side Classes 840 - AC SH Neuter or KittenWhat a huge class with EIGHT to judge – it is like torture for me to judge any of these cats, I love cats so much, how can any possibly be better than another?? 1st Ms J Hillard’s IZZIE (Blue Tortie SH) FNA substantial blue tortie British style cat who immediately rolled over to expose her big tummy for a stroke. Very friendly and cuddly with a great temperament. 2nd Mr & Mrs Tolhurt’s GMC Heidi (Tortie Tabby & White SH) FNA pretty tortie girl with lovely markings to her face and body, substantial and in good condition. 3rd Miss J Hyland’s DREAMER (Brown Spotted SH) FNA real cuddlebug with a talkative purrsonality. Beautiful coat with amazing markings. 4th Ms S Hope’s GMC INCA (Black Self SH) FN (See 830b)5th Miss A Robertshaw’s MC MIA (Seal Point SH) FNA gorgeous Seal Point Siamese girl with a really gorgeous coat and with lovely seal points, pretty blue eyes and a real cuddly purrsonality. I have one just like her at home who we adore! 6th Mr R & Mrs S Solman’s BOBBI (Brown Spotted with White Tummy) FNI really love this girls’ white tummy and striking Bengal markings, she pulled at my coat as I was writing notes whilst crying to me with her booming throaty voice! 7th Mrs J Purland’s KITTY (Black & White SH) FNAbsolutely terrified, pinned to the back of her pen showing the whites of her eyes, I gave her a long lovely stroke but was not prepared to put this lovely cat through anymore than that today. 8th Miss H Plume’s ASTI (White SH) FNBeautiful pristine coat on this pretty girl but she was in a very bad mood today. 848 - AC Neuter or Kitten Owned by a Senior Citizen 1st Mr & Mrs Tolhurt’s GMC Heidi (Tortie Tabby & White SH) FN (See 840)2nd Mr D & Mrs K Gardner’s ELLIE (Blue Point LH) FN (See 829b)3rd MC BOC to Mrs P Potter’s Bertie Bassett (Black SLH)) MNWasn’t a happy chappie at the beginning of the day when I was stewarding for James, but had chilled somewhat by the time I came to see him. Beautiful soft SLH coat with striking yellow eyes. Beautifully presented! 4th Mrs J Purland’s KITTY (Black & White SH) FN (See 840)852 – AC Neuter or Kitten with the Longest WhiskersWithout the use of some sort of calibrated measuring tool this was a tricky class to judge as the two exhibits both had substantial whiskers!! 1st MC BOG to Mr C Potts’ PICKLE POTTS (Tabby & White SLH) FN (See 827)2nd MC BOC to Mrs P Potter’s BERTIE BASSETT (Black SLH)) MN (See 848)856 - Friendliest Neuter or Kitten 1st Miss M Chapman’s MC BRUNO (Brown SH) MN (See 830a)2nd Mrs S Ruse’s FELIX (Back & White LH) MN (See 829)3rd Ms J Hillard’s IZZIE (Blue Tortie SH) FN (See 840)4th Ms G Allen’s TEDDY (Chocolate SH) MN (See 830a)5th Mrs P Potter’s BERTIE BASSETT (Black SLH)) MN (See 848)6th Mrs J Purland’s KITTY (Black & White SH) FN (See 840) East Sussex Club Classes836 - AC Neuter Male1st Ms S Hope’s HUGO (Blue Self SH) MN (See 830a)2nd Ms C Mason’s PAWPAW (Blue Point LH) Male MN (See 829a)Thank you to everyone who entered their gorgeous cats under me at the East Sussex Show – I hope you are happy with your results, you are all taking home the best cats!
