Show Report from Sharara Crichton
Lucky thirteenth show for this friendly club with so many lovely exhibits to judge. My thanks to the Show managers David and Sam for the invitation and wonderful hospitality provided at this well run show. The show committee could not have done more for their judges which was very much appreciated. I had a very enjoyable time in Lisburn among some lovely felines and was very ably helped by Donna MacWilliams who was an excellent steward and good companion on the day for which I thank her very much. I hope she enjoyed the experience as much as I did.
OPEN CLASSES
AC Persian Grand Champion (Imp Gr Ch), Female
1 Imp McKeague’s GR CH ADCINLO CANDY FLOSS
A very pretty orange-eyed white girl who I have had the pleasure of meeting recently. She is four years old with lovely type having total balance in head and body. Very low cobby body shape supported on short sturdy legs that had rounded well feathered paws. Smooth skull with a wide top and with very neat ears that were wide set and with long ear feathers. Beautiful round eyes had excellent copper colour and it was pleasing to see that they had not faded in spite of her years. Short broad nose with a strong stop and a small pink nose leather with open nostrils. The cheeks were full, the muzzle was broad, the chin was firm and balanced with an almost level bite. The coat was lovely and long, being soft, profuse and flowing and was a sparkling white throughout. She had a long frill, fluffy trousers and beautiful bushy short tail shaped like a christmas tree. A girl with a lovely expression shown in sparkling condition and with impeccable presentation. A worthy winner of the award and my nomination for best in show longhair adult.
AC Self Persian Premier (Gr Pr), Female
1 Gr Ch Matthews’s PR CHARLORIAN SASPERELLA
A blue exotic girl who was over three years of age and who was solidly built, of a good weight and mature looks. Good breadth of skull with well spaced ears of fairly neat size which could have been smaller. Rounded forehead and full cheeks. Broad nose which could have been shorter and having a shallow nose break and a fully formed blue grey nose leather. Strong chin, developed muzzle and a scissor bite. Short thick neck. Large eyes that were full and rounded with orange eye colour that appeared a little pale in the hall lighting which tended to drain any orange shades. The body was fairly large and cobby and set low on the legs with a broad chest and strong shoulders set on thick strong legs. The tail was short and thick and in proportion to the body length. The coat was her best asset being soft, plush just like dense velvet and was of a mid blue shade and even in colour. I deliberated as to whether to award a Grand PC because of the paler eye colour but decide that it was possibly due to the fact that the hall lighting was unfavourable and also as she is an older cat.
White (Orange-eyed) Adult
BOB McKeaugue’s GR CH ADCINLO CANDY FLOSS
Tortie or chocolate Tortie and White Adult
BOB Murtagh’s CH CATS CASTLE ARIEL
A tortie and white girl over three years of age. Cobby persian girl with pleasing facial expression and who was brightly coloured with red and black patches on her head and neck region. The body fur felt a little coarse on the day as she was not in full coat and was lacking a little in undercoat and what she had was slightly intermingled on her back region. The top of the head was smooth and rounded as well as patched with a clear black patch present and she had plenty of width between the ears which were well placed on top. She had huge round eyes that were bold and had good copper eye colour and a sweet expression. The nose was very broad and short with a full size pink nose leather and generous nostrils. Deep balanced strong chin with a scissor bite, a well formed muzzle and full cheeks. The lower facial area was white with a white muzzle, chin and bib. The underside of the body was showing both red and black patches with a white line running down the centre of her tummy. All four paws were white with red spots on each foot. The tail was fully coloured and was short and full. She was well prepared and had a sweet gentle nature.
Tortie or Chocolate Tortie and White Kitten
1 and BOB McKeague’s SHEERBLISS DREAM COME TRUE
A delightful little tortie and white girl that I met recently at a show and who I could have ferreted away quite easily. She is a very cobby little girl of three and a half months of age with lovely type and a very feminine look already. Head shape was square, smooth and with a well rounded forehead that had a white blaze. Tiny ears were perched far apart on the skull and had lovely long ear furnishings. The eyes were large and round in shape with promising muddy eye colour still to develop. Short snub nose with a small pink nose leather. She had fat cheeks and a strong white chin with a perfect level bite. Sweet pansy face being red on one side and black on the other. The nose and chin were white with a little red moustache below the nostrils. The coat was lovely being long and very soft having a good frill and fluffy trousers. It was well patched with a black patch over her shoulders and a white body with a fully coloured short fluffy tail, showing both red and black areas. The legs were mainly white and had sweet paw pads that were both pink and black. A promising little girl who handled like a dream. My nomination for best in show kitten.
2 Murtagh’s CHARLORIAN NANCY SYKES
Another delightful little tortie and white girl who was nearly four months old. A sweet kitten with very pleasing persian type. She was well grown for her age and had a cobby low set body with short legs. Square well balanced head shape that was smooth and with small wide set ears that had medium length ear feathers. She had a white blaze on her forehead and red patch below one ear and black below the other ear. Bright alert eyes of very large size, well rounded in shape and with very muddy eye colour that should be a brilliant copper later. The eyes had little crescent shaped red patches on their lower edges. Plump fat cheeks with a very short nose with a strong stop and a pink nose leather. Her chin was well formed and balanced but she was in the middle of teething and sadly her bite was out of alignment at present which did not help and determined her lower placing on the day. Long, soft, dense coat which was mainly white on her body but she had a red patch or spot on her lower back region. She had fluffy trousers and all her legs were white with the left one having a red patch. The tail was short and fluffy and was showing both red and black. A very sweet little kitten, well presented and with a friendly nature.
Blue or Lilac Tortie and White Kitten
1 and BOB Gregg’s CAMAHA CLEOPATRA
A cobby three and a half month old blue cream and white kitten with a lovely coat with sound and pale colours of blue and cream. The coat was of a good length and was soft and well prepared with lovely fluffy trousers and a tiny short well feathered tail. She had a white patch in the mid back region while the main body was showing blue and cream patching. All four feet were white with the legs showing coloured patches. The left leg had white and blue areas while the right leg had cream and blue. The head was broad and had a slight head bump at present with a forehead that had a cream blaze. Neat ears were well placed and spaced far apart. She had a short snub nose with cheeks that were developing width and a muzzle that was broadening. Her eyes had promising deep muddy eye colour and were well rounded and large in size.
There was a firm balanced chin with a scissor bite and was in the middle of teething at present. A well presented kitten who was a little poser.
Bi-Coloured Kitten
1 and BOB McKeague’s KATYKAYE LEGEND
A most appealing blue and white boy of about five months of age and who I have recently met before and find that he is just as lovely now. He has a truly cobby body shape set low on short legs and well grown for his age. Excellent head type with a wide top with a smooth rounded forehead and small low set ears sited far apart and fitting neatly into the skull contours. The patches around his ears and on the upper forehead were blue and were well matched and symmetrical which gave his face a pleasing expression. The eyes were round and large with copper eye colour and was still changing and should be better still later. He had a very broad nose with a definite stop and fully formed pink nose leather. The lower part of the face was a clean white with fat white cheeks, broad muzzle and a firm white chin with a good scissor bite. He had a fabulous long coat that was soft and sparkling white with a good frill and fluffy trousers and ending with a short very bushy blue tail. He had blue patches on the middle back region and white well feathered feet. A very well groomed kitten with impeccable presentation and excellent show temperament.
AC Exotic SH Non-Self Kitten, Male
1 and BOB Caughey’s HINCJKITZ UNFORGETTABLE
A four month old classic brown tabby exotic boy with excellent type. A character with looks to match, having compact body that was well grown, solid and firm on short thick legs. Square head shape that had good spacing between the ears and was slightly bumpy at present. The ears were small, round tipped and low set, fitting neatly into the skull contours. He had fat chubby cheeks and a very short snub nose with a good stop and a deep pink nose leather edged with black. The chin was balanced and he had a spotted muzzle that was filling out and a scissor bite. The eyes were bold, very expressive and were round and large with eye colour that was developing well. The coat was dense and plush and felt soft to touch. It stood out well from the body and was of medium length with excellent tabby markings. The colour of the coat was a rich warm copper brown with dense black markings which contrasted well with the ground colour. He had a clear ‘M’ on his head, lines running over the top of the skull, pencilling on the cheeks, eye lines and paler spectacles around the eyes. Body markings were also good as he had several necklaces, bracelets and barring on his limbs and a well spotted tummy. The tail was short and thick and had good tabby rings. A playful kitten with lots of personality and who was well shown.
2 Craig and Bell’s SHEERBLISS SHERE KHAN
A red tabby exotic kitten of three months of age who was most appealing and with good type. He was a classic tabby with a shapely body that was compact with short little legs. Rounded head with an overall square shape and with small well set ears that were correctly placed on top. Smooth rounded forehead with cheeks that were filling out. Sweet short nose of even width and with a definite stop and a full pink nose leather and open nostrils. The muzzle was filling out and the chin needing to strengthen further. The bite was sadly off centre at present which affected his placing in the class. The eyes were of a good size, rounded and with orange eye colour developing well and showing lighter pale spectacles. The coat was still a baby coat with plenty of long guard hairs present and was not dense or plush at this time and was lying a little flat. It had, however, good classic tabby markings of deep red overlying a paler red ground colour. He had a clear ‘M’ on his forehead, a spotted muzzle, head lines and pencilling on his cheeks. Spines lines were present and there was a hint of a butterfly over the shoulder area and oysters on the flanks. There was clear barring on his limbs and he had a well spotted tummy region. The tail was short and full and had rings visible on the underside of the tail. An affectionate little kitten who has plenty of time to improve and hopefully the bite will improve also.
AC Exotic SH Non-Self Kitten, Female
1 Thomas’s HINCHKITZ YOURSOVAIN
A very pretty blue tabby pointed exotic girl of four months of age with good type. Most appealing cheeky facial expression with a cobby firm body on short stocky legs. She was a good weight and size for her age. Well balanced head type with a square shape, smooth and round with small solid blue ears that were settling well without thumb prints at present and fitting neatly into the head contours. Short snub nose with a good stop and a small pink nose leather outlined with pigment with generous size nasal openings. Chubby fat cheeks with a firm balanced chin. She was teething badly causing the bite to appear untidy and slightly off centre. She had lovely round eyes with fair blue eye colour and sweet expression. The points were a light beige shade overlaid with blue markings and were clear on face with the forehead having an ‘M’. The muzzle was spotted and the body was a clear glacial white colour. There was faint barring on the limbs and the underside of the feet from toe to hock were solid blue. The coat was short with a lovely soft texture and was dense and plush and stood out well from the body. The tail was short and thick and matching the other points very well. A charming lass who had a quiet sweet nature.
Blue or Lilac Tortie and White Neuter
1 PC and BOB Taylor’s ALINDAS BONNIE
A blue cream and white female cat who was one and a half years of age. A mature lady with good boning and cobby frame set low with sturdy legs. Good skull width that was smooth and rounded and had small wide set ears. Open clean expression with very large eyes, well rounded and bold having good orange eye colour. Her nose was very broad and had a decent nose break and a fully formed nose leather. The chin was cream and very strong and she had fully formed plump cheeks, a broad cream muzzle and a bite that was not quite level. She had a cream panel down the centre of her face and blue at the sides. The left muzzle had a minimal white spot and was the only amount of white and I would have preferred to have seen more white on the face. The bib was white and she had a white line running down her underside. Her body was mainly blue and cream patches and she had white feet with well feathered paws. Her tail was short and very bushy and she had a long soft coat that needed more thorough show preparation as she was a bit raggedy on her underside and around her ears which detracted from her appearance. A girl with a good show temperament who handled well.
Blue Point Birman Kitten
1 and BOB Gilmore’s CARRICKFERN HEARTBREAKER
A pretty four month old kitten with good birman type. She had a well balanced body that was of a good weight and size for her age with well muscled medium height legs. Broad, well rounded skull with well placed ears of medium size that were spaced well apart. Her nose had the correct shallow dip in profile and was of medium length. The cheeks were filling out and needed more width and fullness which should develop with time but were softly rounded. Her chin was very slightly tapering but could have been firmer for better facial balance and she had a scissor bite. The eyes were of a good shape being almost round and had good blue eye colour and pleasing gentle expression. She had a lovely coat that was fairly long and was very soft and silky in texture and was a clear bluish white with just a hint of shadiness on the lower back area. The points were a pretty blue grey shade and were well matched on her ears, legs, tail and her incomplete mask. The gloves were matching but set a little low and slightly scalloped but they, together with the socks, were clean and sparkling white. The socks were not quite matching with the left one set slightly higher and the right one slightly scalloped. The gauntlets were well matched and symmetrical but a little short reaching just half way towards the hocks. The tail was full and in proportion to the body length. A very well presented kitten with a sweet gentle nature.

A relaxed girl when handled.
3 Murtagh’s CHARLORIAN LITTLEWHITEROSE
An orange eyed white exotic girl with pleasing open type but whose coat felt a little coarse as she was not in full coat condition on show day. She was well grown and of a fair weight with a strong body shape supported by low set short legs. Rounded head shape which was a little narrow and could have been broader with neat round tipped ears placed far apart on the skull. Her nose was of medium length and had a shallow nose break with a full pink nose leather. Her best features were her huge round eyes which had fabulous copper eye colour and lovely bold expression. She had full cheeks and a wide muzzle, a firm chin and a good level bite. The coat was a clean white that was free of any shadiness but was not at all plush in texture as it was lacking in undercoat on the day, lying a little flat and could very well look quite different at another time of year.
