Wednesday 29th October 2008 saw the GCCF Council meet to discuss a packed agenda with the ominous item 14 on everyone's lips across the Cat Fancy - the Official Journal dedicated a page to the situation, giving almost half of it to The National Cat Club to explain their reasons behind the extensive cover all proposal (see below)
The mood has been clear - the Grass Roots of the Cat Fancy wants The Supreme Cat Show to stay, everything was hanging on the delegates who are in place to vote in the interests of The Grass Roots - with no other agenda or alliance.
Reports are in that council did vote - but only on item 14b due to lack of time - should the Supreme be allowed to go ahead in 2009.
The delegates voted and early indications are that the vote went as follows:
'Excellent News!' I hear you all jump and punch in the air!
At the risk of being the bringer of bad news - ponder this - that vote equates to around a 60/40 split - when you look at the figures like this - the victory isnt quite as safe as anyone would want that supports our Flagship Show.
The Grass Roots MUST NOT let their support for The Supreme slip - a 60/40 split in The Supreme's favour is not enough and I ask myself who were the 53 delegtes that did not listen to their grass root Cat Club members?
How are we getting our opinions over to the people who make the decisions on our behalf and is the Council process democratic?
So your challenge - if you choose to accept it - is to show those 53 delegates that WE DO want The Supreme Cat Show to continue - not just into 2009 but into the future.
Attend The Supreme - drag along friends and family and have a great day out - lets not have our favourite show of the year taken away from us as we stand by with our mouths open saying nothing.
Anything worth having is worth fighting for - the fight is on!
09/11/08 - We need to keep the supreme but advertise more and make it more public aware. We need to keep the cost down for exhibitors and public. Need more food companies on board and new foods for people to buy at the show.
