Delegates Documents Published by Somerset Cat Club

The Somerset Cat Club have taken the ground breaking step of publishing the financial papers that the GCCF Council Delegates will be discussing at June 2009's Council Meeting.

Included in the Papers are the minutes from the 'Executive Requested' GCCF Finance Committee and their proposals to help the GCCF out of their current financial difficulties.

A seperate document in the delegates paperwork is the treasurer's report who indicates a drop in registrations and transfers were mainly responsible for the £12k defecit in the published figures, however the finance committee still recommend increasing kitten registrations again to £8 per kitten.

Item 10 of the June Meeting sees a proposal from The Yorkshire Cat Club suggesting affiliated clubs make interest free loans to The Governing Council as a 'safeguard' for the future of the GCCF.

Chairman of Somerset Cat Club, John Robinson says of the decision to put the papers on line; "It is important that our club members have the opportunity to decide how the club's delegate votes, it is the delegate's responsibility to reflect member's choices of their represented club".

The wording on the proposed fee increases and John Hansson's 'clarifying'statement on the GCCF website still presents a less than clear picture of the true fee increases. In effect the 'prefix maintenance fee' is basically a levy on the first kitten registration of each calendar year. In other words if the new recommendations are accepted the cost of registering kittens will be £23 +VAT for the first kitten in each calendar year and £8 for each kitten thereafter.
