The below questions have been sent to all current members of Executive and are available to anyone who wishes to stand for the new GCCF Limited Board of Directors to enable clubs the opportunity to choose before June's council meeting who they want their delegates to vote for. In previous years delegates are given information on who is standing when they enter the meeting room, Cat Planet feels that clubs and all of their members need the opportunity to have input into who these important votes go to. If anyone would like a copy of the questionnaire to fill out, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
1.What is Your Name? Sally Rainbow-Ockwell
2. Which position are you standing for? (Chairman/Vice Chairman/Director/Secretary) Director
No
N/A
5. Do you sit on any other GCCF Committees and if so, which? Not at the central level, but I am currently the Secretary of the Birman BAC & on the committee of the LH Cream & Blue Cream Cat Association. I have previously chaired the Singapura BAC and been the Secretary of the Persian Tortie BAC. I’m also a Judge in the Persian, Semi-LH & Burmese sections.
I am a global award-winning Business Coach. I own my own business which is a franchise territory of the world’s No. 1 Business Coaching firm. I work with the owners and Directors of small businesses to help them achieve their goals. I have helped clients to achieve profit increases of over 600%, together with better systemised businesses.
7. What skills do you have that you think will benefit the growth of the GCCF? As a coach, I work with my clients on all areas necessary to achieve a successful business. These include business strategy, detailed planning, financial management, marketing, sales, recruitment, team development, business processes, personal development. All these aspects will be vital to the success of GCCF. If GCCF is to grow & succeed, we need to embrace new technology rather than continuing to use expensive manual processes. In order to do this we will need a strategic new IT development to allow much needed change,eg. on-line registrations, and to streamline the running of all areas of GCCF. This needs to be planned carefully to ensure that we develop a solution which will be able to grow and change as the GCCF grows and changes. This means that the right IT Strategy & plans are vital, before we jump into a solution. My experience as an IT Director, combined with qualifications as a PRINCE II Project Manager will be very useful in this area.
8. What about your character makes you a good candidate for the role of Director? I am enthusiastic and very hard-working. I’m happy either leading teams or working collaboratively to achieve a goal. I will look for the best long-term solution – even if it isn’t the most popular at the time. I’m very good at identifying the right people to help on a project – and persuading them to help!
9. If you are elected, what will be the first thing you challenge on your first day? I’m a firm believer in looking before I leap, so my first approach will be to find out as much information as possible – certainly not to jump to an assumption of change on Day One!. It’s very easy to criticise those in power when you are not – when all the facts are available the reasons for decisions may become clearer. Having said that, there are 3 generic areas where it appears that changes would help GCCF to move forward: - A detailed plan with dates for delivery & clearly identified owners of tasks - Directors having specific areas of responsibility (aligned to their skills), and the remit to form working groups from the wider fancy to address the tasks that they own on the plan - A clear distinction between the ‘business’ aspects of running GCCF and the ‘cat fancy’ aspects. Appropriate management bodies and rules for both.
10. What is your vision for the future of the GCCF? I want to see the GCCF once again as the world’s leading cat registration body, and the leading authority on cat breeding & welfare. I believe we can lead the way in judge training and in the services that we offer to everyone who is interested in cats in any way. In order to do this, we need an organisation with a sound financial footing and an inspiring & achievable plan. We need to market GCCF enthusiastically & consistently and to encourage more people to join us. Ed Note: Thank you to Sally for filling out the questionnaire. |
