Many thanks to Marie for the invitation to judge and to the Gwynedd Cat Club for their hospitality. I had a most enjoyable day with some lovely cats and was very ably assisted by my steward Saffi Rabey who travelled up to the show especially, many thanks I look forward to the next time.

AC ORIGINAL CHAMPION MALE

1 GCC JOHNSON’S CH KASHYK CZAR DOMBROVSKI 16a M 8.10.08

Nice overall appearance to this twenty-one month old boy. Good short wedge from the tip of the nose to the eyes which is equidistant from the eyes to the ears, small jowls showing. Flat appearance to top of head between the ears, good prominent whisker pads making a broad, rounded muzzle. In profile straight forehead to upper eye level, minimal concave curve with correct angle to the line with nose straight to tip. Level bite but slightly shallow chin. Fairly large pointed ears, wide at base and vertically set but I would prefer them taller for perfection but outer line follows the outer contours of the face. Full almond shape to eyes when he was relaxed in the pen, set well apart with a gentle expression and vivid green in colour which pales towards the outer edge. Elegant but deceptively weighty, long, medium boned body with good muscle tone. Proportionate, long, slender legs to balance body with fairly small oval paws with blue pads. Moderately long, gently tapering tail to balance body. Russian Blue who was showing some seasonal changes to the density for his full double coat but fine and soft in texture, short, a bit flat along back. Medium blue coat pales slightly to roots, faint rings on tail. Lovely temperament.

RGCC LECK & JENKINS’S CH REKSIF DANUBE DANCER 16a M 7.2.08

Well grown two and a half year old boy. Head has a trifle long wedge and I would prefer a little more breadth to the top of the head to balance the length. Flat appearance to top of head between the ears. Reasonably prominent whisker pads forming muzzle but still a trifle fine for my preference. Blue nose leather. Profile shows straight forehead to upper eye level, very shallow concave curve then nose line is straight to tip. Level bite and fair depth, rounded chin. Fairly large, pointed ears, wide at base and vertically set with the outer line following the outer contours of the face. Eyes set wide apart, almond in shape giving a gentle expression and green in colour. Good length well muscled body of medium bone and good weight but a bit lean on the haunches. Long, medium boned legs to balance body and neat oval paws with blue pads. Very good tail moderately long and gently tapering, balances body. Fairly plush double coat along sides with fairly dense undercoat, fairly short and upstanding along sides but close lying along the spine and a bit harsh in texture. Russian Blue of medium blue in colour which pales a bit to roots and lacks sheen. Sweet natured.

1 GCC MURPHY’S CH KALTES RHAPSODY INBLUE 33a16 F 18.8.08

Lovely ‘naughty’ expression to this nearly two year old, Devon Rex lady. Good breadth to head with a fairly short, broad wedge, high cheek bones, nice broad muzzle, level bite but shallow chin. In profile flat skull rounding at brow, fairly good stop, nose a trifle long but straight, well defined whisker break. Ears are set low and wide apart, well covered in fur, large and wide at base, tapering to rounded tips, short ear muffs around base. Large, yellow, oval shaped eyes, set wide apart and sloping towards outer edges of ears. Elegant, firm body with good muscle tone, medium in length, slender and with a broad chest. Slender neck. Long, slim legs and neat oval paws. Good tail, long and tapering and well covered in wavy fur with a curl to the fur at the tip. Soft texture to short, dense coat, well covered and even in length over body with a tight ripple along back and sides. Fur just slightly sparse on the back of the neck and tummy. Crinkled eyebrows and whiskers. Lovely temperament.

Nicely balanced four and a half year old Russian Blue lady. Lovely head shows short wedge from the tip of the nose to eyes which is equidistant from the eyes to ears. Flat appearance to top of the head between the ears, prominent whisker pads forming a broad muzzle, blue nose leather. Profile shows straight forehead to upper eye level, very shallow concave curve then nose is straight to tip. Level bite but slightly shallow chin. Excellent ears large, pointed, wide at base and vertically set with the outer line following the outer contours of the face. Lovely expression to eyes set wide apart, almond in shape and vivid green in colour. Very good size and weight to long, well muscled body of medium bone with long, slim legs and neat oval paws with blue pads. Moderately long, gently tapering tail which balances body. Fine and soft texture to fairly dense coat mostly standing out well from the body except along the spine. Medium blue in colour but a bit patchy with sandy overtones (maybe she has been sunbathing). Lovely temperament.

Very good size and weight to this nearly three year old Korat Boy. Good heart shaped head when viewed from the front with good breadth between and across the eyes and gently curving to a nicely rounded muzzle. Large forehead showed gentle rounding rather than being flat but he had a slight downward curve to a slightly long nose. In profile slight stop between nose and forehead. Level bite and fair depth chin. Large ears, flared at base and, set fairly high on head. Large, luminous, full shaped eyes, green in colour. Good muscle tone to medium sized and boned body with semi cobby appearance. Good, proportionate legs to balance body and oval paws. Medium length tail, heavier at base and tapering to a rounded tip. Excellent coat fairly short, fine, close lying and with a glossy appearance. Lovely even medium blue in colour with good silver tipping and a sheen to rounded areas.

1 GPC TAMS’S PR POOLSIDE CHEEKY RASCAL 33a30bs FN 6.9.05

Chocolate Smoke Spotted Devon Rex, nearly five year old lady with a clear pattern. Head has a fairly short wedge with good breadth to the top of head, good high cheek bones, strong muzzle, level bite but slightly shallow chin. Brow curves back to flat skull, fairly good stop, nose a trifle long and rounds slightly to tip, well defined whisker break. Ears are set low and wide apart, well covered in fur with little tufts at tips, large, wide at base and tapering to rounded tips, short ear muffs around the bases. Large, pale green, oval shaped eyes, set wide apart and sloping towards outer edges of ears. Hard body with good muscle tone, medium in length with a nice broad chest but slightly overfilled body just slightly spoilt her overall balance. Good length, fine legs and neat oval paws. Long, tapering tail well covered in wavy fur. Soft texture to fairly short, very dense coat, even in length over body and well covered with a good light wave. Just slightly sparse over top of head and chest. Crinkled eyebrows and whiskers. Sweet natured lady with a lovely ‘pixie’ look to her.

1 GPC RIDDLE’S GR PR OAKFORD SWEET WILLIAM 27f MN 20.6.08

Excellent size and weight to this solid and well balanced two plus year old boy. Medium to longer body with proportionate, shapely legs and largish, oval paws. Good length, gently tapering tail feels tense at tip. Coat is fairly short and close lying and of very good texture. Cream Burmese of good even cream slightly warm toned for my preference, light powdered effect over the top of his head. Good width to gently rounded top of head between well set and shaped ears of goodly size. In profile slight rounding to brow, good nose break, nose a trifle long but straight. Level bite and fair depth, level chin. Very good size and shape to pale yellow eyes spaced well apart. Nice natured.

RGPC PLAW’S CH & IGR PR RAINSONG XABI ALONSO 27 MN 7.3.07

Very good size and weight with good muscle tone to this three plus year old boy. Medium to longer length body, well filled tummy just slightly spoiling overall balance but with proportionate length, shapely legs and oval paws. Well shaped tail is just a fraction short to balance body. Coat is fairly short and close lying and of very good texture. Brown Burmese with a nice overall sheen to very deep brown colour. Pale tone to broken necklace. Good width to gently rounded top of head between well set and shaped ears of medium size. Very slight rounding to brow, good nose break, fairly short, straight nose until rounds at tip. Level bite and fair depth, level chin. Very good size and shape to pale chartreuse eyes set well apart. Handled well but he was a little bit grumbly today.

AC BURMESE PREMIER FEMALE

Weighty nine plus year old lady but still maintaining a good firm feel to her and looking well balanced. Medium length body with proportionate, shapely legs and neat oval paws. Well shaped tail needs a fraction more length for perfection but with a nice paint brush tip. Coat is fairly short and close lying and of very good texture. Brown Tortie Burmese of rich, deep brown prettily mingled with shades of red. Fairly short, blunt wedge. Very good width to gently rounded top of head between well set and shaped, ears of good size. Slight flattening to brow, good nose break, nose fairly short and straight. Level bite and fair depth chin. Green colour to eyes now but of very good size and shape and set well apart. Sweet natured.

BROWN/BLUE TABBY MAINE COON NEUTER

Nicely balanced fourteen month old boy. Head is medium in length of good breadth being slightly less than the length, fairly full cheeks and high cheek bones. Well balanced and with a shallow concave curve at the nasal bridge which is equidistant from the ear line and the tip of the nose and with nose of uniform width. Large ears, feathered, wide at base, set high but well apart and tapering to appear pointed at tall, tufted tips. Good size and shape to yellow eyes, spaced wide apart and with slightly oblique aperture and set, yellow in colour. Good broad, square muzzle with fair depth, level chin and level bite, lovely long whiskers. Large, long body, solid and muscular, square rump and good breadth to chest giving a rectangular appearance. Proportionate length, well boned legs and huge paws with tufts emanating from under paws. Long tail, wide at base and tapering towards the tip and with excellent, full flowing fur. Well prepared summer coat, fur shorter on head, neck and shoulders with some length down back and flanks. Part breeches, shaggy belly fur and some frontal ruff. Brown Tabby and White Maine Coon of golden brown ground colour with clearly defined black and deep brown classic pattern with white to end of nose, chin, bib, part of tummy, front socks and back boots. Excellent temperament.

Lovely overall type to this ten month old lady. Short wedge from the tip of her nose to eyes is equidistant with the eyes to the ears. Flat appearance to top of head between the ears which I would like to see develop just a little more breadth for perfection. Prominent whisker pads making a good muzzle. Blue nose leather. In profile she has a straight forehead to upper eye level, very shallow concave curve at eye line giving correct angle then nose is straight to tip. Level bite and fair depth chin. Lovely tall, large, pointed ears, wide at base and vertically set with the outer line following the outer contours of her face. Eyes set wide apart, almond in shape giving a gentle expression, vivid green in colour. Elegant, long body of medium bone and good weight with long, slender legs and small oval paws with blue pads. Good length, gently tapering tail to balance body. Seasonal coat with fairly dense undercoat, fairly short, fine and soft in texture, flat along spine but standing out fairly well on rest of body. Russian Blue of even medium to deeper blue colour which pales minimally to roots, light silvery sheen to rounded areas. Faint rings on tail. Excellent temperament she really loved the cuddles.

USUAL ABYSSINIAN ADULT

1 CC & BOB WILLIAMS’S SYRINX CAVATINA 23 F 2.9.09

Lovely condition and presentation to this ten month old girl. Gently rounded contours to head and gently rounded from top of head to brow. Excellent breadth to gently rounded top of head between the ears forming a moderate wedge which tapers to a slightly rounded muzzle, formed by a slight indentation. Nice profile line with slight nose break then nose is straight to tip. Level bite but slightly shallow chin. Well set large, well cupped ears, pricked with furry inner edges and tufts at tips. Outer line of the ear follows the outer contours of the face. Large, expressive, hazel coloured eyes set well apart, full almond shape and oriental in set. Medium build and size to body with a straight back and rounded rib cage. Slender legs and small oval feet. Tail, thick at base, tapering gently to tip and of good length to balance body. Coat is short, close lying, fine and dense in texture. Usual Abyssinian with bright apricot base colour and black ticking showing distinct bands of colour just slightly more intense down spine and tail. Black pigmentation lines from eye to top of head and pencil lines on cheeks. Pale hair around eyes and dark edge to eyelid. Apricot colour to ears with darker tone at tips. Pale cream chin and lips. Faint broken necklace. Lovely warm glow and sheen to coat overall. Handled ok but none too happy.

2 CHAPMAN’S WAVETAIL HATTIE 23 F 20.7.09

Lovely condition to this eleven month old girl. Gently rounded contours to head and gently rounded from top of head to brow. Good, gently rounded width between the ears forming a fairly moderate wedge which tapers to a good muzzle, formed by a slight indentation. In profile slight nose break then nose is straight but slightly long to tip. Level bite but shallow chin. Large, well cupped ears, pricked and with furry inner edges, tufts at tips but held a bit low. Large, expressive eyes set well apart, full almond shape and oriental in set, golden in colour with an inner green ring. Very good size and weight to body with a solid feel to her, straight back and rounded rib cage. Slender legs in proportion to body and small oval feet. Tail, thick at base, tapering gently to tip and of good length to balance body. Coat is short, fine, dense in texture and close lying. Usual Abyssinian of ruddy orange base colour and good black ticking with black pigmentation lines from eye to top of head and pencil lines on cheeks. Pale hair around eyes and dark edge to eyelid, pale chin and lips. Much more intense black ticking colour extending down spine and tail to a black tip. Faint broken necklaces. Not very easy to handle.

RUSSIAN BLUE NEUTER

Blue nose leather. Profile shows straight forehead to upper eye level, very shallow concave curve then nose straight to tip but slightly long. Level bite and fair depth chin. Fairly large, pointed ears, wide at base and vertically set with the outer line following the outer contours of the face. Eyes set wide apart, almond in shape giving a gentle expression and green in colour. Long, well muscled body with long well boned legs to balance body and largish oval paws with blue pads. Moderately long, gently tapering tail to balance body. Coat is fairly short with a plushy feel to it. Medium to darker blue in colour with light silver tipping to rounded areas. Faint rings on tail. Nice natured.

BROWN SPOTTED BENGAL NEUTER

BOB PENNY’S GR PR HOADHILL FUNTIME FRANKIE 76 30 MN 5.11.06

Three and a half year old huge boy with a long, large body strong, powerful and well muscled with a broad chest, long, strong legs and large rounded paws. Long tail tapers just slightly to a black tip. Short to medium length coat, slight density but is soft and luxurious in texture. Brown Spotted Bengal of bright golden rufus ground colour and well defined black and brown markings with light glitter overall. Large multi-coloured rosettes on sides, a little downward linkage to smaller spots back from shoulders. Clear ‘M’ on face, strong pencil lines on cheeks, chin straps and vertical streaks over head. Broken lines and spots on legs, rings on tail and spots on tummy. Broad shortish wedge with rounded contours and high cheek bones, head correctly small in proportion to the body. In profile fairly flat from forehead to bridge of nose, slight concave curve to nose then line shallows in depth but is straight to tip. Good, broad muzzle, level bite and fair depth chin. Pronounced whisker pads. Small to medium sized ears, wide at base and rounded at tips. Large, full almond shaped, green eyes correctly slanted towards the base of the ear. Handled well.

1 PC HUTCHINSON’S TOBYSDEN WILLIAMOFORANGE 76 30 MN 8.3.09

Well grown sixteen month old boy. Medium build to body, long and with good muscle tone, long well boned legs and rounded paws. Long fairly thick tail with a rounded dark tip. Short to medium length coat, fairly dense, soft and luxurious in texture. Brown Spotted Bengal of golden rufus ground colour with multi-coloured black and shades of brown rosettes. Nice glitter down back and flanks. Clear ‘M’ on face, pencil lines on cheeks and vertical streaks over head. Broken lines and spots on legs with spots down to his toes, broad rings on tail and spots on tummy. I would prefer wedge to develop more breadth but has rounded contours, high cheek bones and head is correctly small in proportion to body. Slightly long profile line with flattish brow, slight concave curve to nose then straight but slightly long to tip. A trifle fine at muzzle, level bite and fair depth chin. Fairly pronounced whisker pads. Ears are slightly large and are held slightly upright but are wide at base and rounded at tips. Almond shaped green eyes, large and correctly slanted towards the base of the ear. Shy but gentle nature.

BLUE BURMESE ADULT

Well grown nine month old girl showing herself well. Medium to longer body deceptively weighty and well balanced. Proportionate length slender legs and neat oval paws. Good tail for shape and length to balance body. Coat is fairly short and close lying with very good satin like texture. Blue Burmese with pale to medium blue coat colour nice and even over body, marginally deeper on mask and ears. Good width to gently round top of head between well set and shaped ears of generous size. In profile very slight rounding to brow, fairly good nose break and fairly short, straight nose. Level bite and fair depth, level chin. Very good size and shape to pale yellow eyes well set. Nice natured.

AOC BURMESE ADULT

1 CC & BOB LENIHAN’S COOMAKISTA PORTRAITOFAGIRL 27g F 22.8.09

Young ten month old girl who still needs to fill out and mature although she has a well filled tummy which slightly spoilt her overall balance. Medium length body with slender legs and neat oval paws. Well shaped tail is just a fraction short for perfection to balance body. Coat is a trifle long but close lying and of fairly good texture. Blue Tortie Burmese of prettily mingled medium blue with shades of cream. Good width to gently rounded top of head between well set and shaped ears of medium size. In profile I would prefer more depth to skull but gently rounded brow, fairly good nose break, nose a bit long and rounds at tip. Level bite but slightly shallow chin. Good size and shape to yellow eyes set well apart. Sweet natured.
