Gwynedd Cat Club 17th July 2010Thank you to Marie for the kind invitation to judge at this friendly show once again. The standard of Household and Pedigree Pets was the highest I have seen so far this year. Thank you to the exhibitors for presenting your cats with so much care and attention. My apologies for the delay in these critiques being submitted which is due to unforeseen circumstances. If you require further feedback please email me on This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . AC PEDIGREE PET GRAND MASTER CAT (MALE)This was a class of incredibly high standard with all 3 exhibits worthy of an Imperial in their own right. They were all presented immaculately and the final decision was made entirely on temperament and showmanship. Imp GMC to Bower’s GMC SanjayI don’t think I have judged this handsome boy before. He is a stunning tabby boy who was very chatty and friendly. He walked straight out onto my table where he posed and chatted with me. Super sleek coat in excellent condition and very expressive eyes. He really is a top class exhibit and was a pleasure to judge, his amazing temperament won me over in his favour. Res GMC to Cowlayshaw’s GMC Smokey JoeLovely to meet this beautiful boy again. He is a very smart and laidback blue longhair with lovely bodyweight for size and presented superbly. There was not a hair out of place! He was very chilled and composed and super easy to handle, enjoying his cuddles. Very close between him and the class winner. Not placed Wareing’s GMC LeoI love this big lad who I have judged on a number of occasions now. He is a huge brown tabby longhair who, as usual, was very well prepared. Very long whiskers and gorgeous dreamy eyes. He is cuddly and affectionate in his pen but really not too happy on the table which is not at all as I remember him. Such a shame as if he had shown his usual show-off tendency on the table the result may well have been different. AC PEDIGREE PET GRAND MASTER CAT (FEMALE)Imp GMC to Bower’s GMC TallulahLovely to see this mature girl back at her very best – she definitely prefers nice warm halls! She has a lovely show temperament – purrs, headbutts and is generally very gentle and easy to handle. She was in very good condition today especially in view of her age – at 12 years 6 months she put younger cats to shame. Her coat was lovely and soft with her trademark ripples. She has a wise expression and really deserved the certificate today. Congratulations! HOUSEHOLD PET SECTION ANY COLOUR LH/SLH KITTEN1st BOC Jackson’s Bizzie LizzieSuper little tortie tabby semi longhair girl. She purred the moment I touched her and generally showed off and cuddled in equal measure. Very playful and totally unfazed by the show hall despite being only 5 months old. Her coat was soft and well prepared – gorgeous! Congratulations on being BIS Non Ped Kitten. SH TABBY CAT OF ANY PATTERN WITH OR WITHOUT WHITE (MALE)1st MC Weaver-Prescott’s PickleLovely boy who did insist his litter tray made an excellent bed! He had a handsome face and was in superb condition. Sparkly white patches set off his tabby patches. An alert friendly boy who was a relaxed exhibit and well worthy of the certificate. 2nd Riches’ PeridotnightriderAn attractive boy from outside the pen, when I managed to coax him out he is a little plump for 11 months and he really was not enjoying his show day. He was very well presented with a nice short sleek coat and obviously a great deal of care had gone into his preparation and presentation. Today though he really wasn’t a happy chap. SH TABBY CAT OF ANY PATTERN WITH OR WITHOUT WHITE (FEMALE)1st MC BOC Lomax’s SophieI remember this girl from a previous show and she has certainly fulfilled her early promise. Very pretty slender girl, lovely weight and condition. She was well presented with very clean white patches and she was so affectionate in the pen, rolling over and presenting her tummy. She handled well out of the pen too with lots of headbutts but did get a little tense when she noticed the other cats. A lovely cat with a lot of potential to go on to higher awards. PEDIGREE PET SECTION LH/SLH AOC CAT WITH OR WITHOUT WHITE (MALE)I had to rejudge this class after Casey Jones was moved into it (correctly – he is a pointed cat and therefore AOC) and it was incredibly tough as both boys are quality exhibits and did their best to win me over! 1st MC BOC Bullivant’s StormFabulous exhibit – he had the lot! Stunning laidback nature but with extra sparkle and ‘look at me’ qualities. He was in excellent condition and his coat felt soft and well prepared. He didn’t stop purring the whole time I judged him – a real charmer and timewaster and my nomination for BIS Pedigree Pet Neuter. 2nd Skelding’s Casey JonesAnother top class boy. He had a superb coat so soft I just wanted to bury my hands into it! He purred and headbutted me and padded his paws in mid air. Very very affectionate and cuddly gentleman. Very close call between these boys and another day could well go the other way! AC LH/SLH KITTEN (MALE)1st Agar’s FigaroVery handsome young man. He has gorgeous deep blue eyes and is a lovely size and weight for his age. He handled very well but was just a little apprehensive – first show? His presentation was a real credit to his owner – lovely soft coat. I really enjoyed cuddling him and he blossomed and became more confident. He just needs to continue gaining confidence. I look forward to seeing him in the future as he is definitely one to watch. AC LH/SLH KITTEN (FEMALE)1st Murphy’s CaritaA proper little livewire this girl purred her head off and really seemed to be enjoying herself. Gorgeous blue golden girl with chocolate box looks. She has lovely expressive green eyes and was so easy to handle I had trouble putting her back! She lay in my arms on her back playing with the tickle stick as if she was in the lounge at home. Very well prepared coat and presented in super condition. A charming kitten who was my nomination for BIS Pedigree Pet Kitten which she went on to win. Congratulations! GINGER OR AOC TORTIE CAT WITH OR WITHOUT WHITEConsidered for BOC only and awarded to GMC TallulahMiscellaneous Classes AC LH ADULT OR KITTEN1st Jackson’s Bizzie Lizzie- already reported on 2nd Cowlayshaw’s GMC Smokey Joealready reported on 3rd Agar’s Figaroalready reported on AC ADULT OR KITTEN FRIENDLIEST MALEA super class with not enough first place rosettes to go around! 1st Mcparlin’s Ramases– this boy was my take home pedigree pet exhibit of the day. An absolutely stunning blue tabby gentleman, he popped out of his pen straight up into my arms and could have stayed there all day purring his head off and making bread in the air with his paws. He has a wonderful temperament, so relaxed and lovable. He likes his cuddles and kisses! Extremely well presented in a double pen showing him off at his best. Sleek coat and such an expressive face. Many congratulations on later becoming Overall BIS Pedigree Pet Exhibit. 2nd Bullivant’s Stormalready reported on 3rd Cowlayshaw’s GMC Smokey JoeAC ADULT OR KITTEN FRIENDLIEST FEMALEAnother very strong class with some gorgeous cuddly girls. 1st Creaton & Walker’s IGMC Rainbow Dreamcatcher (TICA RW & QGM)I have judged this girl on a number of occasions but today she was the epitome of everything a household pet exhibit should be. She is always presented immaculately and beautifully groomed – she even smells gorgeous! But today her temperament which is always fabulous was as perfect as you can get. She sprang out of her pen straight into my arms demanding cuddles and purring her little heart out. She would quite happily have spent the whole day in my arms and really didn’t want to go back in her pen. Sparkling white patches, coat in super soft condition and brimming with good health. She was my choice for Best in Show Household Pet Neuter and I was pleased to award her the Overall BIS Household Pet Exhibit award. Beautifully shown and well worthy of her high titles. 2nd Murphy’s Caritaalready reported on 3rd Jackson’s Bizzie Lizziealready reported on Unplaced and not reported on elsewhere: Dale’s MC Ruby RoseI judged this girl here last year and really liked her but today all she really wanted to do was sleep in her litter tray. Lovely shiny sleek black coat and good condition although a little plump for her 2 years. I think today the hall was a little hot for her – not at all aggressive or difficult just quite determined to sleep! AC EX STRAY OR RESCUE ADULT OR KITTEN1st Creaton & Walker’s GMC Littleman Raffles (UMC & TICA RW & SGM)another cat I have judged now on a few occasions. Not quite as flamboyant as normal he is still a top class exhibit and has an excellent show temperament. Super presentation and wonderful condition for his 12 years. He posed beautifully on the table but looked most put out by the very noisy Siamese next door! 2nd Lomax’s Sophiealready reported on 3rd Jackson’s GismoGorgeous little man who was a little nervous to start with and then had a lovely cuddle and purr. He was in good condition and has a lovely rich ginger coat and super clean white patches. Lovely chap! ROYAL CANIN STAKES CLASS – GINGER, GINGER & WHITE, TORTIE OR TORTIE AND WHITE1st Creaton & Walker’s IGMC Rainbow Dreamcatcher (TICA RW & QGM)already reported on 2nd Roberts’ Gwennowhat a super girl. Very well prepared and presented soft coat with immaculate white patches and she is in great condition. A typical tortie she wasn’t too keen on being on the table for too long but she enjoyed her cuddles and was very affectionate in the pen. 3rd Jackson’s Gismoalready reported on Unplaced and not reported on elsewhere: Rainbow-Ockwell’s Rosiethis pretty girl was very well presented and had a gorgeous round face with big appealing eyes. Unfortunately however she was one of the last cats I judged and by this time it was so hot she really preferred to sit in her litter tray and pose rather than cuddle. A lovely girl just unfortunate to be in a tough class. GWYNEDD CAT CLUB CLUB CLASSES AC PEDIGREE PET CAT OR KITTEN1st Wareing’s GMC Leoalready reported on 2nd Wareing’s MC Tashavery pretty lady but a little shy. Super coat, well presented and in good condition. She just needs a little more confidence in her own charms and to show herself off a little more. Lovely girl! 3rd Anderson’s PharoahVery handsome boy with sleek coat and gooseberry eyes but really didn’t want to leave his pen and much preferred the security of his blankets. He was very well presented and in lovely condition.
