Gwynedd Cat
Club Show
18th
July 2009
Many thanks to Marie and the Gwynedd committee for their
kind invitation to judge at this local show. There was a lovely atmosphere at
the show and I had some lovely cats to handle- thank you. I was lucky to have
my friend Maggie Armstrong to steward for me- thanks Maggie and I look forward
to next time!
Class 405 Brown
Burmese Kitten
2nd (1st
place withheld) Boardman’s Amabile Brown Desdemona (27) F 28.10.08
Unfortunately this very pretty kitten was extremely upset today.
She has a lovely short wide wedge with very good width at her cheekbones and
tapering to a short muzzle with a blunt finish. She has excellent rounding to
the top of her head and very good width between her ears that are set well
apart and continue nicely the shape of the upper part of her face. Her ears are
medium in size and have a broad base and rounded tips. Her eyes are a nice
large size and are set well apart and have a well rounded bottom line and a top
line that is a little full but is still flatter than the bottom line and angled
towards her nose. She has a lovely Burmese expression. In profile the depth of
her head is very good and her ears show a slight forward tilt. Her brow is
gently rounded and her nose break is very well defined. Her nose is short and
not quite straight due to a small bump. It finishes in the same vertical plane
as her chin which is medium in depth. Her bite is undershot by 3-4 mm and this
was confirmed by the duty vet. Her body is small for her age. Her body is
fairly heavy for her size. Her chest is rounded and her back is straight. Her
tail is of medium thickness at the base and tapers to a rounded tip and is long
enough to balance. Her coat is medium in length and a little harsh in texture
on her back. She is a warm seal brown and is clear coated except for a few
smudges on her inner back legs. I was sorry to withhold first place on this
attractive kitten but her bite precluded the award. I was also somewhat
concerned at her small stature and her obvious distress at being at the show.
Class 407
Chocolate Burmese Kitten

Bob Vaughan’s Maharani Jamborie (27b) M 31.10.09
A very well grown 5 month old boy with a super coat for
colour, length and texture. He has
a moderately short wedge with very good width at his cheekbones and tapering to
a muzzle that is slightly long but has nice width and a blunt finish. He has
very good rounding to the top of his head and excellent width between his ears
that are set well apart. His ears are medium/large in size and have a correct
shape with a broad base and rounded tips. His eyes are moderately large in size
and set well apart. They are slightly deep set but have a nice well defined
shape with a rounded bottom line and a flatter top line angled towards his
nose. He has a very nice Burmese expression. In profile the depth of his head
is good and his ears show a slight forward tilt. His brow is gently rounded and
his nose break could do with slightly more definition. His nose is slightly
long but straight. His chin is medium in depth and is slightly set back. His
body is well grown and he is developing good muscularity with a rounded chest
and a straight back. His tail is of medium thickness at the base and tapers to
a rounded tip and is long enough to balance. His coat is moderately short and a
super soft texture which lies very well. He is a lovely pale and warm honey
coloured chocolate with some facial masking at present. He is clear coated. His
condition is excellent and he was totally calm, friendly and handled very well.

Hughes’s Maharani Vanilla Ice (27c) M 31.01.09
A well grown shy chap of good Burmese type. He has a
moderately short wedge with very good width at his cheekbones and then tapering
to a fairly short muzzle with a blunt finish. He has very good rounding to the
top of his head and very good width between his ears that are set well apart.
They are medium/large in size and have a broad base and a rounded tip. His eyes
are moderately large in size set well apart and have a well rounded bottom line
and a top line that was initially a little too round but did settle to a
flatter shape angled towards his nose. They are yellow in colour and he has a
very nice Burmese expression when relaxed. In profile his depth of head is good
and his ears show a slight forward tilt. His brow is gently rounded and his
nose break is moderately well defined. His nose is slightly long but straight.
His chin is medium in depth and is slightly set back. His bite is correct. His
body is long and well grown and he has good muscularity with a rounded chest
and a straight back. His tail is a little thick at the base and tapers to a
rounded tip and is long enough to balance. His coat is medium in length and
soft in texture and lies well. He is a pale lilac colour with minimal pink
tones apparent today. He is clear coated. He is in very good condition and was
shy but handled well and gained in confidence as we handled him.

Bob Giles’s Raweke In High Definition (27c) F 09.04.09
Very sweet 3 month old girl of very nice Burmese type. She
has a short wedge with very good width at her cheekbones and tapering to a
muzzle that was slightly long but had a nice blunt finish. The top of her head
shows very good rounding and she has good width between her ears that I would
have preferred set slightly lower. Her ears are medium in size and have a broad
base and rounded tips with small ear tufts present today. Her eyes are a nice
large size and set well apart. They have a well rounded bottom line and a top line
that is angled towards her nose and which is flatter than the bottom line but
is slightly full and better at rest. They are yellow in colour and she has a
very nice Burmese expression. In profile the depth of her head is good and her
ears show a slight forward tilt. Her brow is gently rounded and her nose break
is fairly well defined. Her nose is fairly short and straight. Her chin is
medium in depth and slips back slightly today. Her bite is correct. Her body is
appropriate size for her age and she felt heavy. Her chest is rounded and her
back is straight and she has elegant legs and neat oval shaped paws. Her tail
is of medium thickness at the base and tapers to a rounded tip and is just long
enough to balance. Her coat is medium in length and lies well and is a mid
toned lilac with some pinkish tones developing. She is clear coated. Her
condition is good and she is a well natured sweet kitten. Promising lass.

Bartlett’s Raweke Minima (27c) F 20.08.07
A mature girl of very nice Burmese type who was a little
grumpy today. She has a short wedge with very good width at her cheekbones and
tapering to a fairly short muzzle with a blunt finish. She has very good
rounding to the top of her head and excellent width between her ears that are
set well apart. Her ears are medium/small in size and have a broad base and
rounded tips. Her eyes are a lovely feature. They are large in size and set
very well apart and have a well defined shape displaying a well rounded bottom
line and a flatter top line angled towards her nose. They are yellow chartreuse
in colour and she has a super Burmese expression. In profile the depth of her
head is fairly good and her ears show a slight forward tilt. Her brow is gently
rounded and her nose break is fairly well defined. Her nose is slightly long
and slopes downwards. It finishes in the same vertical plane as her chin which
is a little shallow. Her bite is correct. Her body is medium in size and she
felt heavy with good muscularity. Her chest is rounded and his back is
straight. Her tail is of medium thickness at the base and tapers to a rounded
tip with a slight end irregularity and is long enough to balance. Her coat is
slightly long but lies well with a soft texture. She is a pale lilac shade and
the colour was patchy today as if she had been sunbathing. She is clear coated
except for a couple of smudges on her outer back legs. Her condition is good
and she handled well despite being a little unhappy.
2nd
Andrew’s Isajen Miss Marbles (27e) F 05.08.08
A very nice young brown tortie girl who was feeling a little
frisky! I judged this girl as a kitten and nice to see her fulfilling that
early promise. She has a short wedge with very good width at her cheekbones and
then tapering to a nice short muzzle with a blunt finish. The top of her head
shows good rounding and she has fair width between her ears that I would like
set a little lower. Her ears are medium in size with a broad base and rounded
tips. Her eyes are moderately large in size and set well apart and have a well
defined shape with a rounded bottom line and a flatter top line angled towards
her nose. They are chartreuse in colour and she has a very good Burmese
expression. In profile the depth of her head is good and her ears show a slight
forward tilt. Her nose break is quite strong and her nose is fairly short and
straight and finishes in the same vertical plane as her chin that is medium in
depth. Her bite is correct. Her body is compact in size and she feels heavy
with good muscularity developing. Her chest is rounded and his back is
straight. Her tail is of medium thickness at the base and tapers to a rounded
tip and is long enough to balance. Her coat is medium in length and lies well
with a soft texture. She is a mixture of dark seal brown and bright tangerine
and this is well mingled on her body and she has a vertical divide on her face.
Her condition is good and she was superbly friendly today!
