thanks to Marie and her well oiled team for once again inviting me to judge at
one of my favourite shows. I have been travelling to Queensferry as an
exhibitor, steward and now judge for the better part of 30years and feel very
much at home here. Richard Lord was my very able and trustworthy steward and I
thank him for his good care of the exhibits and total reliability and
discretion in all aspects of the task.

ORIENTAL IMPERIAL GRAND PREMIER MALE
IGR
PR LUND’S GR PR SAMAUY TY 43ds MN 28/2/07
red silver shaded boy who was rather
upset by a very noisy and aggressive Bengal directly behind him. Lovely head
with large flared ears set at just the right angle to complete the triangle,
oriental pale green eyes and good strength of profile with firm chin and level
bite. Long firm svelte body and a really short close coat, bright red and
silver shaded with at least fifty percent silver base in excellent condition.
Slender legs with some barring and neat oval feet, nicely whipped tail that
could just have benefited from an extra inch for complete balance, beautifully
presented, such a pity about his neighbour so he was not showing himself to his
fullest advantage, for which I made allowance.
HAVANA
ADULT
Two
pleasing Havana queens so close in age and there was little to separate them. I
had no idea that I knew the breeding of either of these girls but it goes to
prove that you do not need cinnamon to breed the correct colour of Havana the
cinnamon gene was not introduced into the oriental breeding for many years after
the Havana was well established.
1CC
& BOB SHARP-POPPLE’S DENSON LOUISIANA 29 F 31/8/07
sweet natured young
queen with lovely even wedge and large flared ears set at the correct oriental angle
to form the triangle. Bright green oriental eyes and lovely strength of profile
with good chin and level bite, she is just inclined to puff out her whisker
pads which gave the slightly false impression of a pinch. Elegant neck lines
and slender long body of good weight and substance with rich warm chestnut
brown coat short and close lying and sound to the roots. Slender long legs and
neat oval paws with lovely long whip tail to balance, good presentation.
2 RATHBONE’S
BELLIS COPPER 29 F 13/9/07
another very pretty girl with really nicely balanced
head and large flared ears that form the correct oriental triangle, bright
clear green oriental eye set and straight profile with good depth of chin, her
bite is just a fraction untidy as she has lost a couple of incisors. Slender
neck lines and good length and weight of body again with a bright rich chestnut
coat short and close, sound to the roots and in excellent condition. Long
slender legs with neat oval feet and wonderful long whip like tail to balance,
fractionally shy but easy to handle and well presented.

CREAM OR APRICOT
1 CC
& BOB CLARKE’S CH HEMLOCK LADY MARMALADE 37fn F 3/5/06
pretty apricot girl
with well balanced head and large well placed flared ears and pale green
oriental eyes that are just a fraction full in shape. Straight profile with
firm little chin and the bite appears level if a fraction untidy as she is
losing some teeth now. Good neck lines and slender long body with firm muscle
tone and lovely short close coat sound to the roots and clear apricot colour.
Fine slender limbs with neat paws and lovely whip like tail of excellent
length, lovely temperament and presentation.
ORIENTAL
TORTIE ADULT
1 CC
& BOB HIRST’S CH TOGHAR PASTICHE 37h F 17/7/07
mature and very attractive
chocolate tortie queen with good head showing lovely balance with large flared
ears well placed. Strong profile with good chin and bite although she is losing
a few teeth now, lovely expressive oriental green eyes. Graceful neck lines and
long firm muscular boy with richly mingled warm chocolate and red short close
tortie coat in lovely condition. Long slender legs with neat paws and good
length of whip tail to balance, excellent temperament nicely presented.
2
CLAY’S METEXA MARQUESA 37h F 29/4/08
pretty young queen with medium length even
wedge and large flared ears with width across the top. Lovely green eyes a
fraction full in shape and straight profile with firm chin and clean level
bite. Quite good length of slender body with lovely soft textured short close lying
coat and well mingled chocolate and red tortie, I just felt that the chocolate
was quite dark and needed more warmth to the colour. Long slender legs with
neat little paws and good length of whip tail, a lovely friendly girl who
really just needs to mature and finish growing, lovely presentation.
ORIENTAL
BI-COLOUR ADULT
1 IC
& BOB WILLS LEBRETON FINLAY 40.40b M28/2/08
big handsome chocolate pointed
Bi-colour boy with very stylish head and huge flared ears with white tips.
Oriental set blue eyes and strong roman profile but he is quite shallow in his
chin although his bite dose just meet, inverted V of white on his face with a
couple of chocolate spots on his nose whish probably makes his nose appear
slightly more prominent than it possibly is. Elegant neck lines and strong firm
svelte body and rally short close coat that is mostly ivory over his back and
pure white through the tummy region. Long elegant limbs and neat paws with
white on all four feet and extremely long whippy chocolate tail, lovely natured
boy well presented.
HAVANA
KITTEN FEMALE
1
& BO DUFFY’S KYOMI KISS-N-TELL 29 F 12/2/09
darling little baby girl with
lovely head and huge wide ears she has yet to grow into, very promising
strength of profile with good chin and level bite, and oriental eye set and
shape the colour is still rather a muddy green at present with the colour still
developing. Proportionate length of body, her coat is a slightly darker toned
chestnut in this light and some ghost tabby markings are apparent but the coat
basically sound if still slightly baby fluffy. Slender little limbs with tiny
dainty paws and long stringy tail, very excited and sweet natured baby girl
enjoying the attention, good presentation.

& BOB BROWNING’S PIPPASTRO A LOVE OFAIR 61p F 24/1/09
delightful young baby
girl with well balanced wedge head and large wide based ears with good width
between and tufts at the sides. Her head is not overly long at the moment but
there is still length to come, oriental eye set and shape, I would have liked a
slightly deeper shade of blue but hopefully this will continue to develop.
Almost straight profile with deep chin and lovely clean level bite, well
developed blue based caramel mask mingled with apricot matched for colour to
her ears. Good length and weight of body and almost clear magnolia coat of
really good length for this age, lovely even lie, texture and flow. Long legs
with quite broad little paws with good breaks of caramel and apricot tortie
although slightly paler than her mask, tufts developing between her toes.
Reasonable length of tail, it could perhaps benefit for another inch in length
but her plume is really well developed and mingled for colour.

short close black coat that is sound to the roots and with a lovely shine and
texture. Slender long legs with neat oval paws and lovely length of whippy
tail, nicely presented.

FULLERTON’S STARAPPEAL SCENESTEALER 62.43a MN 25/10/08
very stylish blue shaded
boy with excellent head and huge flared ears fully furnished, brilliant green
oriental eyes and lovely strong profile with firm chin and level bite and full
facial tabby markings. Firm muscular long body and blue shaded coat on a soft
beige ground and of good length for his age just some faint superficial tabby
pattern to lower flanks and spots on his tummy. Long firm legs with well tufted
broad paws and a really good length of tail with well developed plume,
excellent temperament and presentation.
2
KEITH’S STARAPPEAL SAYNOMORE 62.42c MN 25/10/08
another lovely boy just a shade
shy and litter brother to the above I see, slightly shorter broader head with
large wide based ears well furnished. Oriental set bright green eyes and
straight profile with good chin and level bite and full facial tabby pattern.
Huge long body with quite good length of flowing coat with some superficial
tabby markings to lower flanks, some spots on his tummy. It was difficult to be
certain about his coat colour in the available hall light, certainly his coat
is shaded on a cool beige ground but there were things that made me wonder if
he is caramel rather than lilac but decided to give him the benefit of the doubt,
I would just say that for such a young boy I felt that he was rather too
rounded his owner needs to watch his diet not to detract from the overall
elegance. Long sturdy legs and broad tufted feet with good length of well
plumed tail, nicely presented.

BROWNING’S PIPPASTRO COCOA CHANEL 62 36b F 25/1/09
pretty little chocolate
smoke baby girl with good overall balance to her head and huge flared ears with
tufts, oriental set green eyes. Slight dip and bump on nose in profile which
will hopefully straighten out as she grows, firm little chin with clean level
bite. Well grown long slender body with pleasing length of flowing chocolate
smoke coat for this age with the silver base coming through to just acceptable
degree of one third of the coat length. Slender long legs and neat paws with
tufts just starting to develop between her toes, long stringy tail with plume
developing quite well, nicely presented and sweet natured baby.
3
ELLIS’ EIREACHDAIL MAZPAHSMOSAIC 48e F 20/11/08
quite pretty black and red
tortie Bi-colour young lady of good overall size for her age and generally good
head and large ears that she was inclined to bonnet. Good profile and firm chin
but her bite was slightly untidy as she is teething, white on her face with
black ears. Long slender body with short close lying coat and good patches of
red and black on her back and clear white tummy but there is quite a lot of
colour overlay at the boarders of all the colour edges. Slender long legs and
neat paws with white on all four feet and lovely length of whip like tail,
nicely presented and excellent temperament.

1
GRAY & JOHNSON’S TOHGAR MAID TOORDER 32.1 F 12/10/08
pretty little seal tabby point queen who
is only just adult, lovely head with huge wide based ears well set with clear
thumb prints. Wonderful deep blue oriental eyes with double ribbons, straight
profile with M to brow, good depth of chin and level bite and whisker spots. Slender
long body and short close lying coat with some light tonal shading along her
flanks. Long legs and dainty oval feet with well defined warm seal brown bracelets
and lovely length of whippy tail that is well ringed, lovely temperament and
condition.
2
GREEN’S GR CH MAPU FIRENZE 24n F 10/4/07
mature caramel point queen with quite
nicely balanced head and large wide based flared ears and good profile although
I would have liked a little more depth to her chin, her bite is level, bright
blue oriental eyes of good colour and full caramel mask well matched to her
ears. Slender graceful body with basically clear magnolia coat that is just a
fraction longer than desired but good smooth lie and condition. Long legs with
well matched caramel stockings and neat oval paws, I would have just liked
another inch on the length of her tail to completely balance out her body
length, excellent temperament and presentation.
3 OWEN’S
GR CH ROYSTERER SNOWDANDY 24c M 8/9/06
big chunky lilac point boy with broad
masculine head and large wide
based ear with good flare, bright blue oriental eyes and straight profile with
firm chin and level bite and excellent soft pinkie lilac toned mask and ears.
Huge strong svelte body and crystal clear magnolia coat that is really short
and close lying in lovely condition for a working boy. Long legs and
proportionately neat paws with paler lilac stockings and a lovely length of
whip tail also well matched for colour, a lovely big teddy bear of a boy with a
delightful temperament.

OWEN’S POLLYBEE YOURS-TRULY 24c F 7/3/09
very pretty lilac point young lady of
really good size and weight for her age, lovely even wedge head and large wide
based ears well set. Bright clear blue oriental eyes just a fraction full with
excitement, straight profile with good depth of chin and clean bite and soft
pinkie lilac toned mask developing nicely to match her ears. Slender body of
good length with close lying clear magnolia coat just a fraction long at
present, long legs with dainty oval paws and pale lilac stockings, wonderful
long whippy tail that she was using to great effect to express her joy with
life.

3
WHITING’S THOWRA ANGELO 24a M 7/1/09
quite nice little blue point boy with
moderate even wedge with large wide based ears that are reasonably well set.
Lovely deep blue oriental eyes and straight profile with fairly prominent chin
but the bite meets and well developed soft toned blue mask well matched to his
ears. Good length of slender body and fairly short coat slightly fluffy in
texture with some tonal shading to his flanks although there is good contrast
with his points. Long legs with neat oval paws and well matched blue stockings
and lovely length of whip like tail, sweet natured boy well presented.
WRONG
COLOUR WILLIAMS ROYSTERER LADY DAZZLE 32.8 F 23/12/08
charming young lady who
was a pleasure to handle, lovely head with huge wide based flared ears and
brilliant blue oriental eyes. Almost straight profile just a tiny bump on her
nose, good chin and lovely clean bite. Her tabby markings are really very pale
and difficult to distinguish at the moment but her ears suggest she is of the
red series possibly apricot. Slender long body with creamy white short close
coat that is totally free of any shading in excellent condition. Long legs and
dainty oval paws with very faint leg bracelets and ringed tail that is of good
length which also suggests apricot so I felt I had no choice but to wrong
colour her as her open class judge had done the same, however when I spoke to
her breeder later genetically she cannot be other than lilac or caramel a very
interesting kitten.

COPELAND’SGR PR FLOWERDEW GTX EXPECTATIONS 24 MN 2/2/08
lovely big mature
handsome seal point boy with and excellent wedge head and huge well placed wide
based ears. Strong roman profile with firm chin and level bite and very
oriental bright blue eyes, that if I were to be picky I would have just
preferred a slightly deeper shade of blue especially on a seal with a full warm
seal brown mask. Elegant neck lines and long svelte body his short close coat
is showing some shading but there is still a good degree of contrast and in
excellent condition, really long legs that he liked to wrap around your neck
and neat oval paws with well matched seal brown stockings and a whip like tail
that goes on forever a stunning boy in top show form.
2 THORPE’S
PR JOHPAS DROPDEADGORGEOUS 32a MN 19/10/07
handsome red point boy with good
even wedge head and large wide based ears that he was inclined to hold almost
horizontal today. Lovely brilliant blue eyes and straight profile with firm
chin, but his bite is fractionally untidy now as he is losing some of his
canine teeth, full red mask well matched to his ears. Elegant neck lines and long
firm svelte body with an almost clear creamy white coat that is a fraction long
but in excellent condition. Slender long legs with neat oval feet and slightly
paler red gauntlets and good length of whippy tail well matched for colour,
friendly boy nicely presented.

AGGETT’S AMYDAY SOLAR LIGHT 32fn MN 21/8/06
soft gentle natured apricot boy
quite good head with large wide based ears with good flare although I would
have liked a little more width between Bright blue oriental eyes and straight
profile with good depth of chin and level bite but his chin was slightly dirty
maybe from his food, full apricot mask, I just felt that for his age he still
has a slightly innocent expression. Long svelte body with short close lying
coat that is quite shaded but in tone with his point and excellent texture and
condition. Slender legs and neat oval paws with paler stockings and lovely
length of whip like tail to balance, good presentation.
