Many thanks to Brenda for the invitation to judge and to the Southern Counties Cat Club for their hospitality. Many thanks to Peter Kilmartin for coming down especially to for steward for me, I hope you enjoyed the day as much as I did.

BRITISH BLUE ADULT MALE

1 CC & BOB WOLFE’S BUMPKIN BUFFALO BILL 16 M 19.7.07

Strong muscular two plus year old boy of good overall balance. Head has full cheeks to a round face when viewed from the front with handsome jowls, good breadth to skull and rounded top of head with good width between the ears set far apart to follow the outer contours of the head, medium in size and rounded at tips. In profile slight flattening to upper forehead then rounding at brow, strong nose break and fairly short, straight, broad nose. Level bite but slightly shallow chin. Deep orange colour to large and well open eyes set wide apart. Short neck to strong, really cobby body of excellent weight with a short level back, low on legs and with a full, broad, deep chest and equally broad rump. Sturdy, proportionate legs and huge, rounded paws. Medium length thick tail, thicker at base and rounded at tip. Fairly short coat is very dense with a lovely crisp texture. British Blue of lovely, even, medium blue with a light silvery sheen to rounded areas. Super temperament.

2 GREETHAM’S LORRCLAWS TEDDY “B” 16 M 14.5.08

Good overall balance to this one and a half year old boy of excellent size and weight with good muscle tone. Face has rounded, full cheeks and jowls with good breadth to skull, slightly flattened appearance to top of head with good width between neat ears set far apart but held just slightly low, small in size and rounded at tips. Dome rounds behind the ears. Rounded brow and short, straight, broad nose. Level bite but slightly shallow chin. Large, deep golden coloured eyes set wide apart but I would prefer more fullness to lower eye line. Good cobby body with a short level back, low on legs and with a full, broad, deep chest. Proportionate length, strong, legs and firm, rounded paws. Medium length tail, thicker at base and rounded at tip. Coat is fairly short with very good density, just the soft side of crisp in texture. British Blue of lovely even mid-blue. Rings on tail. Lovely temperament.

3 WEST’S WESTWAYS EDWARD 16 M 15.3.07

Nearly three year old boy of excellent size and weight with good muscle tone. Full cheeks and jowls to a round face with a broad skull and rounded top of head with good width between the ears set far apart so following the outer contours of the head but a bit oversized for his face, rounded at tips. Rounded brow and short, straight, broad nose. Level bite but slightly shallow chin. Large and well open eyes set wide apart, slightly pale yellow in colour. Short neck to just slightly long rather than cobby body but with a level back, low on legs and with a broad, deep chest. Short, strong legs and large, rounded paws. Lengthy tail is thicker at base and tapers slightly to tip. Coat is a trifle long but very dense and fairly crisp in texture. British Blue of medium to deeper blue in colour which pales significantly to roots and has slightly sandy tinge overall. Nice natured.

BRITISH BLUE ADULT FEMALE

Nicely balanced, dainty fifteen month old girl of good size, deceptively weighty with good muscle tone. Round face has full cheeks with good breadth to skull and rounded top of head with good width between neat ears set far apart so following the outer contours of the head, small in size and rounded at tips. Pleasing profile line with rounded brow and short, straight, broad nose. Level bite and fair depth, level chin. Full shape to well open, deep golden coloured eyes set wide apart. Compact body with a short level back, low on legs and with a well rounded chest. Short, well boned legs and firm, rounded paws. Good tail medium in length, thicker at base and rounded at tip. Coat is fairly short with good density, just the soft side of crisp in texture. British Blue of lovely, even medium blue which is sound to the roots. Faint rings on tail. Sweet natured.

2 STUBBS’S WILLOWOOD HATTIE JAQUES 16 F 17.3.08

Good size and weight to this ten month old girl who is still developing. Head has full cheeks to a round face with good breadth to skull and rounded top of head of good width between ears set far apart, medium in size and rounded at tips. Profile shows rounding to brow and straight, broad nose which is a trifle long. Level bite but shallow chin. Deep orange colour to large and well open eyes set well apart. Fairly compact body with good muscle tone, just slightly long but level back for balance at present, nicely rounded chest. Proportionate, well boned legs and firm, rounded paws. Medium length tail, thicker at base and rounded at tip. Coat is fairly short with good density but just a bit soft at present. British Blue of even, medium to darker blue to surface colour which pales slightly to roots. Nice natured.

BRITISH CREAM ADULT

1 CC Withheld BEESLY’S ADATESH CREAM SANDIE LANE 17 F 7.5.08

Nearly two year old lady of good weight and muscle tone for her size but I would prefer her larger by this age. When viewed from the front I would prefer more breadth to skull and rounded top of head. Medium size to ears which are rounded at tips. In profile gentle rounding to brow, slight nose break, nose a bit long and fine but straight. Level bite but shallow chin. Widely set, large and well open eyes. Body is a bit long and lacks the desired compactness but with a level back and rounded chest. Fairly short, well boned legs and firm, rounded paws. Slightly long, tapering tail. Coat is a bit long and I would prefer more density, just the soft side of crisp in texture. British Cream of paleish cream colour with tabby markings over body and heavy rings on tail. Sweet natured.

BRITISH BLUE-CREAM ADULT

BOB LORTON-HOBBS’S CH LORASTON KEYHOLE-KATIE 28 F 5.7.06

Very good size and weight to this nearly four year old striking looking lady with good muscle tone. Head has full cheeks to a round face with very good breadth to skull and rounded top of head with very good width between the ears set far apart so following the outer contours of the head, fairly small in size and rounded at tips. Nice profile line with rounded brow and short, straight, broad nose. Level bite but slightly shallow chin. Large and well open orange eyes set wide apart and with a lovely ’naughty’ expression. Well balanced with a short neck, cobby body with a short level back, low on legs and with a lovely broad chest and rump. Short, strong, well boned legs and firm, rounded paws. Good tail medium in length, thicker at base and rounded at tip. Lovely short, dense coat with a nice crisp texture. Blue-Cream British of medium blue and cream nicely intermingled. Quite a ‘boxer’ but well behaved out of the pen.

1 CC WARNES’S REVODNA LOVEIN AMIST 28 F 5.6.07

Good overall balance to this nearly three year old lady of good size and weight with good muscle tone. When viewed from the front round face has full cheeks with good breadth to skull and rounded top of head with good width between neat ears set far apart so following the outer contours of the head, small in size and rounded at tips. Profile shows rounding to brow, fairly good nose break and fairly short, straight, broad nose. Level bite and fair depth chin. Orange eyes have full shape to lower line, slightly flat across the top line and appeared a bit deep set for my liking today. Compact body with a short level back, low on legs and with a well rounded chest. Short, fairly well boned legs and firm, rounded paws. Medium length tail, thicker at base and rounded at tip. Coat is fairly short with good density coat, just the soft side of crisp in texture. Blue-Cream British of medium to deeper blue intermingled with darkish cream. Patch of cream on chest and left, front paw. Nice natured.

BRITISH BLACK SILVER SPOTTED ADULT MALE

1 CC & BOB GRAVES’S SARGENTA SILVER ZEBEDEE 30s M 23.4.08

Nearly two year old boy with good overall balance and of very good size and weight with good muscle tone. Broad head has full cheeks to a round face with rounded top of head with very good width between the ears set far apart so following the outer contours of the head, medium in size and rounded at tips. Rounded brow, good nose break and fairly short, broad nose, straight line slightly marred by minimal bump. Level bite but slightly shallow chin. Large and well open eyes set wide apart, pale green in colour paling to yellowy tone at outer edge. Short neck to cobby body with a short level back, low on legs and with a full, broad, deep chest. Short, strong, well boned legs and firm, rounded paws. Medium length tail, thicker at base and rounded at tip. Coat is a trifle long but fairly dense and with a nice crisp texture. Black Silver Spotted British of bright silver ground colour with black markings. Clear facial markings and well defined spotting just showing a little downward linkage back from shoulders. Lovely spotting all the way down his legs to his toes. Slight tarnishing to muzzle. Nice natured.

BRITISH AOC SPOTTED ADULT

1 CC & BOB MILES’S TUFTON ADORAMOUSE 30e F 5.6.08

Eighteen month old lady, well balanced and of good size and weight with good muscle tone. Round face has full cheeks with good breadth to skull and rounded top of head of good width between ears set far apart so following the outer contours of the head, small to medium in size and rounded at tips. Pleasing profile line with rounding to brow and short, straight, broad nose. Level bite and fairly good depth, level chin. Large and well open, golden coloured eyes set wide apart. Short neck to cobby body with a short level back, low on legs and with a well rounded chest. Short, strong, well boned legs and firm, rounded paws. Medium length tail, thicker at base and rounded at tip. Fairly short coat is nice and dense just the soft side of crisp in texture. Tortie Spotted British of bright ground colour with brown and black spotting overlaid with shades of red. Spotting is well defined with minimal downward linkage at shoulders. Slightly grey overtones on flanks, dark rings on tail. Sweet natured.

2 MARSLAND-ROUND’S CATBALU ZODIACAL LIGHT 30a F 9.12.07

Good overall balance to this two year old lady of good size and weight with good muscle tone. Head has full cheeks to a round face with good breadth to skull and rounded top of head with good width between the ears. Medium sized ears are rounded at tips but are held slightly low. Nice profile line with rounded brow and short, straight, broad nose. Level bite but shallow chin. Widely set yellow eyes are large and well open. Compact body with a short level back and good breadth to rounded chest. Proportionate, well boned legs and firm, rounded paws. Medium length tail, thicker at base and rounded at tip. Coat is a trifle long, fairly dense coat just slightly soft in texture. Blue Spotted British of pale to medium blue with deeper blue markings. Showing quite a lot of downward linkage back from shoulders. Nice natured.

AC SELKIRK REX KITTEN MALE 2

1ST Withheld HUTCHISON’S BUSYKITZ CURLY-HARRY 79S43s M 22.5.09

Excellent size and weight to this eight month old boy with good muscle tone but growing out of balance at present. Round underlying bone structure to head with slightly curved top of head and fairly full cheeks. Head is set on a fairly short, thick neck. In profile rounded forehead, medium nose break and fairly short, broad nose but I would prefer more of a downward slant. Fair width to muzzle but I would prefer more padding to his whisker pads to give a rectangular impression. Long whiskers with a slight curl. Level bite and fair depth, slightly receding chin. He appeared to still be teething so this may have been distorting his face shape. Medium to large ears broad at base but held slightly high. Good size to round, yellow eyes set well apart. Long body has a level back and good breadth to shoulders and rump giving an elongated but rectangular appearance. Long legs which I would prefer with stronger boning, large oval paws. Long, thick tail but rounded at tip, well covered in fur but straight rather than with a curl. Black Silver Shaded Selkirk Rex with a fairly short coat which I would prefer thicker and denser so not standing out from the body as much as desired and I would prefer more evidence of curl by this age. Fur straight on legs. Minimal ruff framing face and no furnishings to ears. Lovely, soppy fellow who enjoyed the attention.

AC SELKIRK REX KITTEN FEMALE

1 & BOB NICHOLS’S CURLICIOUS DELILAH 79L40 1 F 6.7.09

Seal Colourpointed Selkirk Rex Longhair of nearly seven months of age. I would like to see her develop in stature but she is well balanced and has some nice attributes. Good breadth to top of head which is slightly rounded and good breadth at rounded cheeks. Head is set on short, fairly thick neck. Profile shows rounded forehead, medium nose break and short, broad, straight nose with a downward slant. Reasonable width to muzzle with a rounded rather than rectangular impression but with fairly well padded whisker pads. I would like to see her muzzle develop a little more width. Broken whiskers. Level bite and fair depth, level chin. Neat ears following the contours of her face, broad at base and set well apart and with curled fur to muffs around the bases. Large round, well open almost prominent blue eyes set wide apart. Good length body with a level back and fairly broad shoulders and rump giving a rectangular appearance. Fairly well boned, proportionate length legs and firm rounded paws. Good length tail, thicker at base and with a rounded tip and with plumy curls to the fur. Semi longhair coat of good, even length with density developing but already stands out from the body in loose individual curls with a soft, plush feel to them. She has the appearance of a soft, curl overall, tighter across the back of the ears and down the legs to her toes, just a little less wave down her spine line. Ruff still developing but starting to frame her face.

BRITISH BLUE NEUTER

BOB BOOTH’S GR CH & SUP GR PR KOLINGA COUGAR 16 MN 18.6.07

Huge two and a half year old fellow with good overall balance. Head has full cheeks to a round face with very good breadth to skull and rounded top of head with very good width between neat ears set far apart so following the outer contours of the head, small in size and rounded at tips. Rounded brow and short, straight, broad nose. Level bite but slightly shallow chin. Large and well open eyes set wide apart, orange in colour. Short neck to cobby body of very good size and weight with good muscle tone, level back, low on legs and with a full, broad, deep chest. Short, strong, well boned legs and huge, rounded paws. Medium length tail, thicker at base and rounded at tip. Coat is fairly short with excellent density and fairly crisp texture. Blue British of medium to deeper blue in colour which is virtually sound to the roots, just showing minimal paling. Excellent temperament.

BLUE ABYSSINIAN ADULT

BOB DARBY’S GR CH SILVERSMOKE SPINDRIFT 23c F 21.11.07

Two plus year old lady with a lovely coat. Gently rounded contours to head and gently rounded width between the ears forming a moderate wedge which tapers to a good, slightly rounded muzzle, formed by a slight indentation. Nice profile line shows slight nose break then nose is straight to tip. Level bite and medium depth, level chin. Large, well cupped ears, pricked and with furry inner edges, tufts at tips and set wide apart. Outer line of ear follows the outer contours of the face. Large, expressive, hazel coloured eyes set well apart, full almond shape and oriental in set. Elegant body of good weight with a straight back and rounded rib cage. Slender, proportionate legs and small oval paws. Tail, thick at base, tapering gently to tip and of good length to balance body. Coat is short, fine and dense in texture and close lying. Blue Abyssinian of pinkish mushroom base colour with bluey-grey ticking showing distinct bands of colour. Lovely overall appearance of soft warm blue ticked with deeper blue. Blue pigmentation lines from eyes to top of head, pencil lines on cheeks, and pale hair around eyes and dark edge to eyelids. Blue ears with darker tone at tips. Slightly more intense ticking colour extending down spine and tail to a blue tip. Sweet natured.
