STEVE CROW – HERTS & MIDDX SHOW REPORT – 6th Sept ‘08

Many thanks to Elaine, John, Lisa and the Committee for the invitation to judge, I had a very enjoyable day meeting some lovely cats; thanks also go to Jane Francis-Wilson who stewarded for me with care and consideration, I hope you found the interesting and useful Jane.

Asian Tiffanie Adult:

One girl entered.

1CC & BOB. CHAPMAN’S KAGURA AUREOLE. Brown. 6/9/07.

Very pretty young lady, who is developing well and showing good overall type. Slender elegant well balanced body is of medium size and very good weight and substance, feeling firm and well muscled with level back, gently rounded chest and slender elegant well shaped legs ending in compact oval paws in proportion. Head forms short wide wedge, quite blunt in the muzzle with slightly rounded top between well spaced medium ears, broad at the base and of good shape; steamers from ears and tiny tufts at ear-tips. Large lustrous yellow chartreuse eyes are of very good shape and set wide apart to give super Burmese expression. In profile shows good depth to skull with very gentle curve to brow, very good break, short straight nose and level chin of quite good depth. Fine silky coat is medium long and lies flat to the body, smooth texture, length is still developing and she has only a modest ruff at present and pleasing fringing to lower edges of her body; tail has fairly good plume. In superb condition with a glossy shine and very well prepared. Colour is a warm medium seal brown, rich and even in tone. Tail tapers evenly to rounded tip, length almost balances. A little shy out on the table, calm, much more relaxed and very sweet natured in her pen. I understand this award has made her a Champion, so congratulations!

Asian Self/Tortie Adult:

One girl entered for Best of Breed only.

BOB to SELLMAN’S GR CH KINABALU SWEET SAPPHIRE. Bombay. 11/7/04.

Mature and very attractive girl, who is nicely balanced and of good overall type. Slender well filled body is of very good weight and substance, feeling firm and well muscled with straight back, correctly rounded chest and slender well shaped legs ending in neat oval paws in proportion. Head shows short wide wedge, blunt in the muzzle with slightly rounded top between well spaced medium size ears, broad at the based and of good shape. Lovely large lustrous pale chartreuse yellow eyes are of very good shape and set wide apart to give typical Burmese expression. Very slight curve to brow, very good break, short straight nose, chin is level and of quite good depth. Coat is of medium length, fine and very close-lying, silky smooth in texture and in superb condition with a rich glossy shine. Dense jet black colour is even in tone with quite good colour to the roots. Tail tapers evenly to “paintbrush” tip and is just short to balance. Relaxed, calm and contented, a very affectionate girl.

Singapura Adult:

Two girls entered, plus one boy for Best of Breed only.

CC & BOB withheld. 1. PENFOLD’S JINNOMNI PRINCESS ARORA. 1/3/07.

Attractive young lady but in a very bad mood today and not at all happy to be handled, she proved very difficult to assess. Compact slender body is of medium size, balance and of very good weight and feeling firm and well muscled; gently rounded chest and slender elegant shapely limbs ending in dainty oval feet in proportion. Head shows rounded skull with quite good width to cheeks, but she was sucking in her cheeks and appeared a little fine and pointed in the muzzle. I was unable to check her bite. Medium size ears are broad at the base and cupped; held a little low and I could not persuade the to settle and raise them slightly to just wide of parallel. Large luminous eyes are of very good shape, when I finally managed to get her to open them fully, held well open and set wide apart and at slight slant, colour is rich warm hazel yellow. Very gentle curve to brow, slight stop and short nose with leather falling away slightly at tip, chin is level and of reasonably good depth. Fine close lying coat is of medium length and good texture, in very good condition with a gleaming shine. Pattern of well defined ticking in warm medium brown with slightly sepia tone is evenly distributed over a pale old ivory ground; well broken yellow toned necklace, smudged marks on knees, I couldn’t assess the markings on her forelegs as she would not be handled any more and became quite aggressive; rich warm salmon backs to ears, “M” and scarab on forehead, attractive mascara effect to eyes surrounded by light spectacles, well defined “Cheetah” marks on face. Tail tapers evenly to tip and length appears to just about balance. Became extremely upset with my brief handling of her, such a shame, now that I see her name I realise I judged her just a few weeks ago in a side class at the Three Counties show, she was more willing to be handled then and I would have awarded her a certificate on that occasion. Sadly I could not assess her sufficiently well today to award a certificate with confidence. Withdrawn.

SANDERSON’S JANAMEL DRASNIAN JELITA. 6/7/05.

This attractive girl was withdrawn as apparently she was not the cat entered in this class.

Asian Smoke or Burmilla, Neuter:

One boy entered.

1PC & BOB. DOCHERTY’S PR LOHR STEELERS WHEEL. Blue Shaded Silver Tabby with BCR. 7/6/07.

Large handsome boy, mature and looking distinctly masculine and well developed for fourteen months. Long slender well-filled body is of very good weight and substance, muscular and firm to the touch with straight back, gently rounded chest and slender shapely limbs ending n compact oval paws in proportion. Head forms short wide wedge, perhaps just a touch pointed in the muzzle with slightly rounded top between well spaced medium large ears, broad based and of good shape. Large lustrous pale yellow chartreuse eyes are of very good shape and set wide apart to give typical Burmese expression. Very gentle curve to brow, very good break, nose is of acceptable length, leather falls away at very tip, chin is level and of fairly good depth. Coat of medium length is fine and close-lying with a good satiny texture, especially for a working boy, just a touch long and a little thick along the spine, shown in super condition with a gleaming sheen. Mantle of medium to slightly heavy shading in warm soft medium blue grey is evenly distributed over a clear minimal silver base, showing a number of ticked hairs among the tipped, especially on sides of the body and around the shoulders. Attractive markings with heavily barred legs and broken rings along tail, double necklace with one well broken; “M” and scarab on forehead, mascara effect to eyes surrounded by light spectacles, good pencilling on cheeks. Tail is a little heavy at the base and tapers evenly to finer rounded tip, length is a fraction short to balance. Calm friendly boy, and very good natured.

Asian Tabby Neuter, Male:

One boy entered.

CNH.

This lad was extremely upset and unwilling to allow me to even touch him. A shame as he looked promising with a very good pattern of ticking.

Red Burmese Adult, Male:

One boy entered.

1. CC withheld. HEWSON’S KATSPELL LONESOME COWBOY. 9/10/07.

Mature young man, well developed for eleven months old with slender long body of very good weight and substance, feeling firm and muscular, especially around his neck and shoulders; straight back, gently rounded chest and slender shapely legs ending in compact oval paws in proportion. Short wide wedge-shaped head is of sufficient breadth across the muzzle which is rather square and “boxy” in shape and showing a slight pinch, with slightly rounded top between medium large to large broad based ears of good shape which he tends to hold just a little too low and flared. Chartreuse yellow eyes are a little rounded in shape and only just large enough for his face, set wide apart and rather straight and very slightly deep. Nose is a little broad. In profile brow is a touch flat, very good break, straight nose is a touch long and leather falls away at tip, chin recedes a little and is shallow. Fine close-lying coat is of medium length with good satiny texture, in very good condition with a healthy sheen. Pale to medium tangerine is warm and even in tone, clear of marks. Tail tapers evenly to finer tip and is just short to balance. A nervous boy, but very good natured. Sorry to withhold, but too many faults and his expression is not typical of a Burmese.

Red Burmese Adult, Female:

One cat entered.

1CC & BOB. JARVIS’S CH KYMIAN TILLY. 7/9/07.

Attractive young lady of pleasing type. Slender body is of medium size and very good weight, feeling firm and well muscled with straight back, gently rounded chest and slim shapely legs ending in neat oval paws in proportion. Head shows short wide wedge with slightly rounded top between well spaced medium ears, broad at the base and of good shape. Large expressive yellow chartreuse eyes are of good shape and set wide apart, bridge of nose is slightly thick; initially she was unwilling to open her eyes fully which made assessing her eye shape a little difficult. Very slight curve to brow, very good break, chin is just level and of reasonably good depth. Fine close lying coat is of medium length with good satiny texture, in super condition with a gleaming shine. Warm pale to medium tangerine is even in tone, very faint well broken necklace. Tail tapers evenly to finer rounded tip; length is a little short to balance. Talkative and very friendly girl, but a somewhat difficult to persuade to settle so I could assess her fully and fairly; on balance and when looking her best I decided she was just worthy of the Certificate today.

Cream Burmese Adult, Female:

Expressive yellow chartreuse eyes are large, of good shape and set wide apart, bridge to nose is just a little broad. Very slight curve to brow, good break, straight nose and level chin of fairly good depth, but which tapers and lacks breadth when viewed from the front. Coat is fine, of medium length and lies close to the body, good satiny texture and in very good condition with a gleaming sheen.
