NATIONAL CAT CLUB SHOW 28TH NOVEMBER 2009 JUDGES REPORT MS JANE E. ALLEN

My thanks to Carol, Ron and the committee for their kind invitation to judge again this year. As always a wonderful show, great atmosphere and some beautiful cats to judge throughout the day. I was so sorry that my original steward was unwell and could not share the day with me but was equally grateful when Terry White stepped in to help out. We had a great day together and I thank her for all her hard work and attention to detail and here’s to our next outing together Terry.

AC NON SELF PERSIAN CHAMPION ADULT MALE

GR CC SOAVES GR CH LADYGEM CLAUDE MONET 12a2

A stylish male who I have admired on several occasions and today he was looking very good indeed. Beautifully balanced head with great breadth between well spaced ears. Smooth skull. Round, large deep orange eyes. Short nose with good leather and nostrils. Full, wide sweeping cheeks. Good bite and a firm chin to balance. Cobby frame with short, well boned legs. Short, well furnished tail. Mainly white coat that was really white the medium colour blue confined to his head, one large body spot and fully coloured tail.

RES GR CC LEES CH SHEERBLISS GIFTWRAPPED 70 30s

I have not had the pleasure of handling this young man before and he was a very nice example of the breed! Nicely balanced head and type with fairly neat ears well set on his round head. Round eyes of good orange colour, widely set and expressive. Short nose with good leather and nostrils. Wide cheeks. Good bite and deep chin to balance. Quite a cobby frame with short, rounded tail to finish. Nice depth of body and weight. Only comparatively young so with some maturing still to do but nevertheless a very promising young man who well deserved his reserve grand.

AC NON SELF PERSIAN CHAMPION ADULT FEMALE

GR CC BROWN AND MOTTIS CH BRONTTI PARIS SINNINGDALE 13b8

A very pleasing colourpoint with very nicely balanced head and type with great width to her head with nicely spaced ears, large open round eyes of decent blue colouring. Short, broad nose with wide cheeks. Good bite and chin. Lovely body weight and conformation. Short, full tail. Very pleasing points colouring and with both colours evident. Very well shown and good to handle.

RES GR CC HOWARDS CH PURRDREAMZ TOUCH OFCLASS 12 1

Pretty young female with nice head and type. Very balanced, again young with some maturing to go. Quite a cobby frame with nice boning and short tail. Her coat could have had more preparation and for perfectiom the patches could have been better defined but overall she scored sufficiently to gain the reserve ticket.

AOV SLH PREMIER NEUTER MALE

what a class this was!!! 11 quality exhibits for me to grapple with! With many quality exhibits who would have warranted the high awards. However, eventually I decided on the following -

GR PR PATTERSONS PR FORESTSHADOW CONAN 67 31t

What a lovely young boy in the most tip top condition!

RES GR PR STABLES IGR PR MERLIESIN CAISEAL BEAG 63

AOV SLH PREMIER NEUTER FEMALE

GR PR DOREYS PR NORACOON CHERRY BAKEWELL 64 31et
RES GR PR DEACONS PR GELDEKATT FENJA 67 31t

WHITE ORANGE EYED ADULT PERSIAN MALE

1 CC EDIKERS CH LAZANE CLASSIQUE 8.11.08

A very pleasing male with very good points and qualities and very worthy of his CC, but he could just not compete with the female for best of breed.

WHITE ORANGE EYED ADULT PERSIAN FEMALE

1 CC BOB BANGS CH LAFREBELLA JOY 16.8.08

I just was blown away by this lovely female. So well named as a Joy she certainly was to behold. Probably one of the nicest Persians I have handled in quite some time – she epitomises the standard that I am looking for in the Persian breed, so wonderfully balanced and in addition fantastic body and build and with a full, flowing perfectly white coat. I was delighted to hear she went best Persian, richly deserved and congratulations on breeding such a stunning girl.

WHITE ODD EYED ADULT PERSIAN MALE

1 CC BOB COOKES CH HERE I AM VAN IWANDA (IMP) 5.7.08

Glorious male I really loved his expression and with a body to die for! Broad top of head and well set neat ears. Smooth skull. Round large eyes both of good colour. Short nose with good leather and nostrils. Wide, flat cheeks with level bite and deep chin to balance. Strong, well boned body, short legs. Lovely body weight. Short, well furnished tail. Just needing a little more preparation to really make him look a million dollars.

WHITE ODD EYED ADULT PERSIAN FEMALE

1 cc withheld ANGUS IGR CH PALCHINNO SNOW CLOUD 14.6.07

Sorry to withhold on this female but I found an orange fleck in her blue eye.

SEAL POINT BIRMAN KITTEN MALE

1 BOB HARRIS MENTOBE MR BRIGHTSIDE 13c1 M 17.3.09

Very attractive kitten. Strong, broad skull developing with broad and rounded cheeks. Chin nicely developed, very slightly tapering, balancing his head well. His ears were a little large at present but were well placed apart on his skull. Almost round eyes of medium blue in colour just a little two tone at present. Slight dip in his medium length nose. Long body with super tone and weight. Medium length legs with strong, short paws. Bushy tail balancing his body. Silky coat texture with good length, full ruff and with desired slight golden hue. His seal points were still developing in colour and were just a little brindled as yet on his mask. His gloves were white almost to the angle between the paw and leg. His socks covered his entire back paw and the gauntlets were to ¾ up his back of his leg, very slightly tapering and matching well. He was entered as a neuter but he was still very much all boy – I did check this with the show management. A very eye catching confident exhibit very well shown.

SEAL POINT BIRMAN KITTEN FEMALE

1 BAILEYS CALLOVI MARIETTA 13c1 2.4.09

This kitten had beautiful type and balance. Broad, rounded skull with good width to her rounded cheeks. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Chin well developed and balances her head well. Almost round eyes of nice sound mid blue colouring, however I was unsure of the pupil as it appeared to have almost a tear drop shape, rather than the normal round appearance. I called the duty vet who explained that he felt it was the melonin laid down into the blue part of iris and may disperse as she develops further. Long body that was very nicely grown and in proportion. Good weight and muscle tone. Her tail was bushy and in proportion to her body. Medium limbs with good dense boning, and short strong paws. Well developed points colouring of dark brown and a slight golden hue over her pale beige body coat that was silky and well shown. Her gloves were pure white and covered the paw to the angle with her leg, her socks also covered the whole of her back paws and her gauntlets were to the hock and slightly tapering. I awarded BOB to the male because of her pupils, that was my deciding factor.

2 MASONS AMILLIANA SUMMER BREEZE 13c1 14.7.09

The baby of the class and therefore not so developed as the others. Promising width developing on her skull with medium sized ears well set on her rounded skull. Her cheeks still needed to develop the desired width and roundness. Her nose was of medium length with a slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes with a sound medium blue colour developing. Her body was quite long and her tail was in proportionate in length. Her coat was still quite short but was developing a very nice feel to it. Her points colouring were developing, particularly the dark brown colouring on her mask, her legs and tail still a few shades paler at present. Her right glove dipped slightly to the inside and the left one had white to the stopper pad. Her socks covered her back paws and her gauntlets wre of good length to ¾ up to her hock and slightly tapering. A very sweet confident baby who was very well shown.

CHOCOLATE OR LILAC POINT BIRMAN KITTEN MALE

1 HATLEYS BIRMOON CHAMPAGNE FIZL 13c4 7.7.09

Young male who was very well grown for his tender age! Quite a broad, round skull with medium sized ears well set with nice width between. I felt that his whole head needed to broaden further as he develops and his cheeks to be wider to give his head the desired breadth and balance. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes with strong, sound blue colouring. Full, well developed chin that balanced his head well. Long body with tail in proportion. Medium lengthy legs with nice boning. Strong, short paws. His coat developing well, with offwhite magnolia colouring, his lilac points being a pinkish grey colouring with correct lilac nose leather colouring. His gloves were white to the angle of paw and leg, his socks white over his entire paws and the gauntlets were to ¾ of the length of his hock and slightly tapering, however, they could have been a bit whiter to really show them off!

CHOCOLATE OR LILAC POINT BIRMAN KITTEN FEMALE

1 BOB BARKERS TAMANDRIA LILAC TREAM 13c4 22.6.09

This female had very pleasing balance and head type. Broad, strong rounded skull with medium sized ears spaced well apart on her head. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes that were a sound strong blue colour. Wide, rounded cheeks. Well developed chin that tapered slightly and balanced her head. Well toned long body with medium length strongly boned legs and short, strong paws. Her bushy tail was in proportion to her body. I found her body colouring to be a pleasing off white magnolia colouring but her points colouring was rather a cold lilac almost verging towards the blue tone rather than the desired pinkish grey, her tail being a better tone and her legs were still developing in colour. Her nose leather was darker lilac in colour. Her gloves were evenly marked with white almost to the angle between the paw and leg. Her socks covered the entire back paws and her gauntlets were very slightly tapering to the hocks and slightly hook shaped as they tapered. Very well shown, confident young female. Her more developed and balanced type won her the best of breed in this class.

NORWEGIAN FOREST KITTEN MALE

a lovely class of kittens both male and females.

1 BOB SMITHS VANAHEIM LEOPOLD 67 14 13.4.09

A very attractive and well put together young man. Triangular head with large well set ears. Sound blue eyes nicely set and of good size. Straight profile with good depth of chin. Long body of great substance. Long well boned limbs with the hind slightly longer than the front. Lovely long, well furnished tail. His coat was very well shown and of the most lovely dense double texture. Pleasing disposition and very eye catching.

2 FOWLERS FORESTSHADOW ERIK 67 18a 19.7.09

Another very stylish young man. Head type very promising and for his age his head is more isosceles than equilateral triangle in shape. Large, high set ears. Large slightly oriental eye shape. Almost straight profile with nice chin to balance. Long well filled body with long legs and well shaped paws. His coat still rather baby in texture but with promising guard hairs developing. Well shown and sweet to handle.

3 KESTLES COSCATHAS LOKI 67 31t13.8.09

Baby of the three and for his age his head is already equilateral in shape. Large well set ears. Large, expressive well set eyes. Virtually straight profile with an adequate chin providing a degree of balance to his lower face. Long body and well filled. Long limbs with good paws. Tail just long enough to balance the body. His coat is also still retaining the baby version but with some good coarser, glossy guard hairs along his back. Well shown.

NORWEGIAN FOREST KITTEN FEMALE

1 KESTLES COSCATHAS LILLIANNA 67 31at 13.8.09

Very lovely kitten with excellent head and type. Large, well set ears. Expressive eyes that were correctly set and of great size. Almost straight profile and nice chin to balance. Long body that was well filled. Long well bones limbs and paws. Long tail with cute white tip at end! Her coat was short but already had the desired coarser feeling developing. Well shown and a confident youngster.

2 ACPHERSONS MORMAGIKATT SAPPHIRE 67 31a 13.7.09

This young lady was also very promising and well balanced facially with great large, well set ears. Expressive eyes of lovely size. Almost straight profile but her chin was a little weak at present. Long body and quite a long tail. Full coat that was demonstrating the double texture with considerable amount of top guard hairs already. Well shown.

3 MANSELLS FORESTMIST SANARI 67 31ts 19.7.09

Slightly shy young lady but with very nice quality and appeal. Triangular head shape just slightly longer at present. Large nicely set ears with good width at base. Large, expressive eyes following the lines of her head. Almost straight profile with decent depth of chin to balance. Long body with long well boned limbs. Quite a long tail. He coat was developing well both in length and texture. Well shown.

Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Chin gives nice depth of balance to his head. He was teething at present. Lovely long body nicely toned and muscled. Tail in proportion to his body and nice and bushy. His points colouring was strong orange/red with pale cream body colouring and some evidence of slight golden hue. Well marked gloves and socks with his gauntlets ¾ way up his hocks and matching. Beautifully white and he was in all very well shown.
