BIRMAN CAT CLUB SHOW 6TH NOVEMBER 2010 JUDGES REPORT JANE E. ALLENSincere thanks to Val and Heather and the committee for their kind invitation to judge at the show. It was a really lovely show with so many super Birmans to judge and nothing was too much trouble. I was also so grateful to Barrie Tackley for helping out as my steward when my original steward was not able to make it. Looking forward to our next outing together Barrie. OPEN CLASSES CHOCOLATE OR LILAC POINT BIRMAN KITTEN 14 weeks -6 months FEMALE1 NUTLEYS SIOLU PASSIONDALE 20.6.10Very well grown young lady so relaxed with such a sweet expression. Pleasing breadth to her skull with rounded cheeks tapering to a well developed muzzle. Her ears were a little large but well placed on her skull. Medium length nose with chocolate leather and slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes of a lovely deep blue colour. Very well grown long body with good substance. Medium length legs with good boning and short, strong paws. Bushy tail proportionate to her body but much paler in tone as yet. Milk chocolate coloured mask well developed over her nose and as yet paler across the rest of her face. Her legs and tail paler in tone on the day. Her coat was still developing the length but a very nice silky texture and ivory white in tone and very well shown. Her white gloves ended just below the angle of paw and leg and very slightly dipping to the inside. Her right sock did not quite cover her back foot. Her gauntlets were well marked tapering up the hock to just below the point of hock. Overall a very pleasing young lady. 2 withheld,3 BROTHERTONS DEENLAY TSUNKYANKSE KITKAT 24.6.10Very alert, happy baby! Rounded head and skull with quite good breadth to her skull and cheeks that tapered to a firm muzzle and well developed chin. Ears were quite well set apart on her head. Almost round deep blue eyes. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile and chocolate nose leather. Her body was long in length and pleasing weight. Medium length limbs with good boning. Her tail balanced her body and was developing the bushy furnishings but again paler in tone as to be expected at this stage. Her mask was showing a nice chocolate tear drop over her nose with paler chocolate tone across the rest of her mask and her legs and tail. Sadly I found a white spot on her chin that was confirmed by a full judge of the breed. Lovely silky texture ivory body coat that was very well shown. Her gloves sparkling white dipped to the inside slightly and the right one may well run past the stopper pad as it develops. Her socks covered the whole back paws. Her left gauntlet was white to ½ way up the hock and ended in what almost looked like a “T” marking. The right one was tapering slightly to ¾ up to the hock. As I said a very sweet kitten to handle and I was so sorry to have to withhold the second but was pleased to be able to talk to her exhibitor later in the day to explain. CHOCOLATE OR LILAC POINT BIRMAN KITTEN 6-9 months MALE1 CAREYS KHATIJEM STRATUS PICASSO 4.5.10Beautifully grown young man who was very full of himself today! Very good breadth of skull strong and rounded. Full cheeks tapering to a nicely developed muzzle and chin. Medium size ears set well apart on his head. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes of a sound mid blue colouring. Excellent long body with lovely substance and tone. Medium length legs with good boning. Short, strong paws. Bushy tail that balanced his body well. I felt his points colouring to be a dark shade of chocolate, almost plain chocolate in tone but his nose leather was also indicative of chocolate rather than seal so I gave him the benefit of the doubt today. His mask was showing a heavier colouration over his nose spreading out over the rest of his face with just a small amount of brindling. His legs and tail were paler at present as would be expected. His body colouring was a ivory tone and silky in texture and very well shown. Full ruff developing. His white gloves ended just below the angle of paw and leg, white socks and gauntlets that tapered nicely ending just below the point of hock. Overall a very pleasing exhibit, it will be interesting to see how his points colour develops over coming months. CHOCOLATE OR LILAC POINT BIRMAN KITTEN 6-9 months FEMALE1 ATTLEYS SYRALETTE SWEET SENSATION 6.3.10A very appealing feminine expression. Broad rounded skull with broad full cheeks tapering to a nice muzzle and chin. Her ears were well set on her skull. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Almost round deep blue eyes that were just so expressive. Long body with lovely substance and tone. Medium length well boned legs with strong short paws. Her tail was very bushy and balanced her body well the chocolate colouring being a little paler in tone than her mask. Her points were a true milk chocolate shade with the intensity of colour in that chocolate tear drop over her nose and chin and spreading out over the rest of her face. Her legs were paler as was her tail as yet. Her body colouring was a lovely tone of ivory and was silky in texture and so well groomed. Her feet markings were also very good, with white gloves to just below the angle of paw and leg, white socks covering the whole back paws and gauntlets that tapered to around ¾ of the way up the back of her hind legs. Overall balance and lovely feet markings was my deciding factor in being very pleased to award her the best of breed too. 2 withheld3 SPARROWS TIMPASMAC FIRSTHEART 20.4.10An outgoing confident young lady in super condition. Good breadth of skull with full cheeks that tapered to a slightly pinched muzzle, possibly due to teething at present. Medium size ears set quite well apart on her head. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes of a mid blue colour, spreading from the pupil. Long body with nice weight. Medium length legs with good boning and strong short paws. Bushy tail that balanced her body well. Milk chocolate points developing from her nose spreading out over the rest of her face. Her legs and tail a few shades paler as yet. Sadly on her right glove she had a runner that went way past the stopper pad. Her socks were white and her gauntlets did not match, the left one veered slightly to the inside and her right gauntlet was to ¾ up her back leg but ended rather bluntly rather than tapering. I was sorry to withhold the second place but her feet markings left me no option. RED OR CREAM POINT BIRMAN KITTEN 14 weeks – 6 months MALE1 MORTONS PENDLESTAR FABULOUS FABIO 8.6.10Outgoing young man who was having a great day out! Very nicely developed broad rounded head and skull. Full cheeks tapering to a nicely formed muzzle and quite a firm chin. Medium size ears that were very well set apart on his head. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes that were a little small to balance his other features but with a mid blue colour developing well. Excellent body length and super weight. Medium length legs with nice boning and strong short paws. His tail was developing the bushy furnishings and balanced his body well. Red/orange toned points developing very strongly on his mask and ears. His legs and tail a little paler as yet. Pale cream body colouring with slight hue over his shoulders. His coat was well groomed and quite silky in texture. His white gloves were just a little below the angle of paw and leg, and on the left glove there was white to the stopper pad. White socks. His right gauntlet was a little shorter and narrower than the left and tapered to half way up his back leg, the left one fuller and ending around ¾ of the way to the point of hock. Very well shown and a happy confident kitten. RED OR CREAM POINT BIRMAN KITTEN 14 weeks – 6 months FEMALE1 BENNETTS MUNKSHIP AMBER 1.7.10Very sweet young lady still very much the baby! Pleasing breadth of head developing with full cheeks that tapered to her muzzle that was just a little shallow on her chin at present. Her ears were a little large but well set apart on her head. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes that were mid blue in tone but she was not overly keen to open the fully for me. Although still young her body was nicely proportioned and of good weight. Medium length legs with strong short paws. Her tail was quite bushy and proportionate to her body length. Her points colouring was a strong red/orange tone on her tail and ears, the mask and legs being paler as yet. Her coat was still very much of a kitten fluffy texture with a full ruff but a very pleasing pale cream in colour and so well groomed. Her gloves and gauntlets were hard to assess, but she appeared to have very well marked gloves white to the angle of paw and leg. White socks covering the entire back paws and gauntlets extending to just below the point of hock but a little blunt rather than tapering at the finish. Very appealing youngster full of confidence. RED OR CREAM POINT BIRMAN KITTEN 14 weeks – 6 months MALE1 BOB NEWCOMBES DALTEEMA ROBRED 5.4.10A very impressive young man with such show presence! Lovely strong, broad head with rounded contours. Full cheeks that taper to a full developed muzzle and chin. Medium sized ears set well apart on his head. Medium length nose with a slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes with sound strong blue tone. Wonderful length of body with very good substance. Medium length legs that had lovely boning and strong, short paws. Very bushy tail that balanced his body nicely. His points were a good strong red/orange tone particularly on his mask, ears and tail. His legs were slightly paler as yet. His coat was well developed with a good ruff, pleasing pale cream in tone and a lovely silky texture. Very well groomed. His feet markings were all very well marked with the gloves white to the angle of paw and leg, white socks covering the entire back paws and his gauntlets tapered to just below the point of hock matching well. Very well shown and in super condition. His overall balance, coupled with such good feet markings made him my best of breed winner. 2 KINGS KITTAH HERAKLES 2.5.10A slightly small baby for his age and just a little unsure of himself in the show environment. Quite a strong, broad skull I felt his ears were a little large as yet and set on top of his head. Hopefully as his skull broadens further this will rectify. Quite full cheeks, just needing a little more strength to his muzzle and chin. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes that were a mottled blue in tone and still paler at the outer rim. Generally I felt he was a little small for his age and needed more time to develop substance. Medium length legs with short paws. His tail balanced his body and was developing the required bushy furnishings. Red/orange tone to his mask, ears and tail, his legs were much paler in colour as yet. His body colouring was pale cream, the length being short but silky in texture. His left glove outer toe was only partially white, his white socks covered the whole back paws and his gauntlets were quite narrow but did taper to ¾ way up to his hocks. Generally he could have benefitted from a little more finish to his grooming and perhaps a little more time to develop further. I learnt later from his breeder that he had had a very challenging start to life, so it was lovely to hear that he was making such progress to actually be at the show. I wish him well for his future. RED OR CREAM POINT BIRMAN KITTEN 14 weeks – 6 months FEMALE1 JONES KITTAH ALCMENE 2.5.10Attractive young lady with a good broad strong skull and rounded full cheeks tapering well to a well developed muzzle and chin. Medium size ears set well apart on her head. Medium length nose with a slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes that were a little two tone in colour and quite pale at the outer rim. Long body with good weight, medium length legs and short paws. Bushy tail that balanced her body well. Her points colouring were a pleasing red/orange tone with good strength of colour to her mask, ears and tail, her legs were slightly paler as yet. Silky textured, pale cream body colouring. Her gloves were white to just below the angle of paw and leg with the white extending to the stopper pad at the back but not beyond. Full white socks. The right gauntlet was narrower than the left one but both tapering slightly to ¾ up to the point of hock. Very well shown and a pleasing young lady. I hope that her eye colour continues to develop further. MISCELLANEOUS CLASSES AOC POINT BIRMAN NON BREEDERS ADULT FEMALE1 withheld,2 LACHLAN CH LADYPAWS WHIRLYGIG 13c11Fairly well grown female with a strong broad skull. Medium size ears that were set apart on her skull. Medium length nose with slight dip to profile. Almost round eyes that were slightly two tone in colour. Fairly long body needing a little more substance. Medium length legs with short paws. Her tail was bushy and balanced her body. Generally I felt her coat lacked condition and was not really silky in tone and had some surface shading. Her points showed the tabby markings but were very cold in tone. Her left glove was slightly lower than the right and dipped towards the inside. Her socks covered the back paws. Almost matching gauntlets, the left one finishing slightly shorter than the right. Sorry to withhold the first place but I just felt that her general condition and lack of finish in her coat just did not warrant a first placing as she was alone in this class. AV NON BREEDERS KITTEN, MALE1 DALTEEMA ROBRED2 BRIANS ASHANNAS MR SOFFTEELovely size and substance to this kitten. Broad, strong rounded skull with medium size ears set well apart on his skull. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile but with a small bump. Almost round eyes with deep blue colouring. Long body and nicely boned medium length legs with strong, short paws. Tail nicely furnished and bushy that balanced his body nicely. Dense seal points developing well. Lovely clear pale beige body colouring with golden hue over his shoulders. Very well shown silky textured coat. 3 PROBERTS MENTOBE DR WATSON 13c2Another very well grown kitten with strong broad skull. Full rounded cheeks tapering to quite a well developed muzzle and chin. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile but it just falls away slightly at the end. Almost round sound blue eyes. Long very well filled body with medium length legs and strong short paws. Bushy tail balancing the body well. Nicely developing grey/blue points with his body colouring a blue/white and cold in tone and silky in texture. Well marked feet with white gloves to just below the angle of paw and leg, white socks and matching gauntlets which tapered to just below the point of hock. Well shown. AV NON BREEDERS KITTEN, FEMALE1 DUNBARS PRIDNJOY BLOSSOM 13c2An attractive kitten who was very well grown. Nicely balanced head with broad rounded skull and medium size ears well set apart on her head. Full rounded cheeks tapering to a well developed muzzle and chin. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes mid blue in colour. Lovely length to her body with good weight and medium length legs nicely boned and short, strong paws. Bushy tail that balanced her body well. Very well coloured points that matched really well for her age. Her body colouring was blue white, cold in tone and silky in texture. Her gloves were white to just below the angle of paw and leg and slightly dipped to the inside. White socks. Her right gauntlet was very thin in comparison to the right but matched in length to around ¾ way to the point of hock. 2 LACHLANS SIOLU TARANTELLA OFYOKOTA 13c6Quite living up to the naughty tortie reputation! Spirited young lady with a good broad skull. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Medium sized ears well set on her head. Almost round eyes with a sound blue colour. Full cheeks that tapered to a well developed muzzle. Long body with proportionate tail. Medium length legs with short paws. I thought that she was perhaps a little small for her age. Her points colouring was nicely developed with dense seal and shades of red evident on mask, legs, ears and tail. She had a very pale red chin. Her body colour was fawn in tone and developing good length including a nicely developed ruff. Silky in texture and well shown. Well marked white gloves and socks, her gauntlets were more difficult to assess with the tortie colouring developing but I felt they were quite evenly matched and tapering slightly to around ¾ of the way up to her hocks. 3 DEENLAY TSUNKYANKSE KITKATAV NEUTER FEMALE1 WORMALDS IMP GR CH & IMP GR PR DANLEIGH STARBURST 13c6A mature very eye catching exhibit in excellent condition. Broad, rounded skull with medium ears set well apart on her head. Medium length nose with a slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes of sound mid blue in colour. Long body that was of excellent substance. Medium length limbs with substantial boning and short, strong paws. Very full bushy tail that balanced her body length. Her points colouring was seal brown with shades of red nicely distributed. Her body colouring was fawn with some shading to warm brown on her back and side. Silky texture and with lovely length and full ruff. Excellent foot markings, evenly matched gloves to the angle between paw and leg. White socks covering the back paws and evenly matched gauntlets that tapered to almost the point of hock on her hind legs. Very well shown and so self assured. 2 KINGS KITTAH CALYPSO 13c163 year old girl with pleasing expression. Strong skull broad and round. Medium ears well placed on her head. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes that were a mid blue in colour. Long body of excellent weight. Medium length legs with strong short paws. Bushy tail in proportion to her body. Her points were generally well marked with the tabby pattern overlaid with shades of darker and lighter red. On her mask the tabby pattern was a little diffused. Her body colouring was fawn with some uneven `shading on her back and sides. Well shown silky texture coat. 3 WOODS GR PR RIVANNA FIORELLA 13c11Similar age to Calypso and again with very pleasing birman type. Broad, rounded head and skull with medium sized ears placed apart on her skull. Medium length nose with a slight dip in profile. Cheeks nicely rounded and tapering to a good muzzle and chin. Almost round eyes of mid blue tone. Long body and well filled. Medium length limbs with short, strong paws. Bushy tail that was well ringed and in balance to her body. Her mask was well marked with clear M to the forehead and spectacle markings around the eyes. Thumb prints to her ears. There were broken stripes to her legs that were well defined. I did think her tabby colouring was on the cold side. Her body colouring was pale beige with some surface shading and just a little coarse in texture.
