BUCKS OXON AND BERKS CAT SOCIETY SHOW 18TH SEPTEMBER 2010 JUDGES REPORT MS JANE E. ALLEN

Thanks to Barbara and the committee for my invitation to judge again this year, as always a great show with some lovely cats to handle. My day was made complete with the company of Jo Clements as ever one of the best stewards a judge can have. Thanks for everything Jo, here’s to our next outing later in the year!

AC NON SELF PERSIAN PREMIER MALE

1 GR PR WILLIAMS GR PR FIRANTY RIGHTSAID FRED 12a5 14.5.07

Super mature exhibit looking very good today. Broad, rounded head with neat ears. Round, sound deep orange eyes. Short nose with good leather and nostrils. Wide, sweeping cheeks. Good bite and chin. Large frame, cobby and compact. Full plumed tail. High white proportions with colour to his head and tail and two patches of red on his back. Very well shown.

RES GR PR PEACHEYS IMP GR PR CASHEL HEADBOY 54 11.7.03

I have really lost count of the number of times I have judged him now!! He still remains for me one of the best goldens I have ever had the joy of judging, in very good humour today as well!!!

AC NON SELF PERSIAN PREMIER FEMALE

GR PR SAUNDERS GR PR MYSTERE MAKING A SPLASH 11 24.6.06

My take home of the day, this mature girl is simply wonderful. Very typy expression with super balance. In full coat that had wonderful dense black and vibrant shades of red. Shown to perfection. Congratulations on her best in show win.

TORTIE OR CHOC TORTIE AND WHITE ADULT

1 CC withheld KEWS FIRANTY AZTEC PEARL 12 1 16.5.09

I hate to withhold certificates but this little girl had several things that together made me withhold her the CC. Quite a broad head but with a significant skull depression and dome. Round mid orange eyes. Small nose leather with very small nostrils. Good bite and chin. I suspect she had been calling as she was a little light weight and her coat was not in condition with pale red patches and some residue of powder evident.

BI COLOURED INC ODD AND BLUE EYED ADULT

1 CC BOB HOWARDS FALABELLA BEAUTIFUL SOUTH 12a7od 25.8.09

I remembered him as a kitten at Essex earlier in the year!! He has grown into a very impressive adult. Strong top of head and skull that slightly detracts from his eye size. Both eyes having reasonable colour. Short, snub nose with wide cheeks. Good bite and chin. Large frame with excellent body weight. Cream to head and fully coloured tail with a shoulder spot. Very well shown.

2 COOKS FIRANTY BOOGIE NIGHTS 12a5 13.9.09

This lad was actually more my preference in head type and I am keeping my fingers crossed that his jaw continues to develop a little to make his bite a little less tight and hence freeing up the one tooth that grinds at present. Glorious wide head and well spaced ears. Round copper eyes. Short snub nose with wide cheeks. Massive frame that retains the cobby look. Very good boning. Random red spots on his back. Generally well show.

AC SELF EXOTIC ADULT

1 CC BOB CROWS BIBOUKATZ XOTIC DIVA 16.8.09

Cute youngster slightly small in stature but in proportion and with great body weight. Round head with slightly large ears. Round, gloriously copper coloured eyes that she used very well. Short nose with wide cheeks. Good bite and chin. Her cobby body was supported by well boned short legs. Short, rounded tail. Her coat was mid blue in colour and lacked a little in the undercoat but still stood away well from her body and she had been very well presented.

BLUE NEUTER

1 CC withheld HEATHS CH SHIMBA JUBILATION 14.6.06

Sorry to withhold on this boy but he just was not in show condition. Coupled with his undershot bite that meant his tongue was evident the whole time, I had no option but to withhold.

BLUE POINT BIRMAN KITTEN

two very nice girls

1 GRIFFITHS ROZINELLA JENICOL-ARABELLA 13c2 10.4.10

Delightful young lady with a broad, rounded skull. Her ears were a little large as yet but nicely set apart on her skull. Rounded cheeks that tapered to a well formed muzzle and adequate chin. Almost round eyes that had a very strong sound mid blue colour. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Long body that had lovely body weight. Medium length legs with strong short paws. Her tail balanced her body and was nice and bushy. Her mask was developing a good blue/grey tone just a little paler on her chin and whisker pads. Her legs still developing. Her silky body coat was a bluish white with good length developing. Her gloves were white to the angle between paw and leg. The white extending to the stopper pad on the left. Fully white socks and her gauntlets were ¾ up the back of the hock and tapered nicely. Very well shown.

2 GENTRYS RONMARIES GRISIALGLAS 13c2 24.4.10

A slightly smaller girl all over. Quite a nice broad head with rounded cheeks tapering to a developing muzzle and chin just needing to strength and broaden a little as she matures. Slightly large ears placed a little high on her skull as yet. Almost round eyes with sound mid blue colour. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Long body that was of good weight. Medium length legs with strong, short paws. Quite a bushy tail that balanced her body. Her points colour was a not as developed as the winner and her legs were rather pale in tone as yet. Her body was lacking in coat length but was a pleasing blue white intone. Her gloves were white to the crease with the right one showing white to the stopper pad. Her socks were white and the gauntlets were rather blunt. I felt her feet were rather grubby and generally she could have benefitted from a little more show preparation.

RED, CREAM AND TORTIE POINT BIRMAN KITTEN

1 YEOMANS ADECILO PURINDOORS JUICY LUCY 13c5 23.2.10

A very confident young lady with a broad rounded skull at present her ears were slightly large but well set apart on his skull. Full cheeks tapering to a nicely developing muzzle. Chin well developed. Medium length nose with a slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes of mid blue in colour, just a little two toned as yet that I wondered if this was down to teething. Long body with good weight and medium length legs with short, strong paws. Bushy tail that was in proportion to her body. Her body was covered in a very well prepared silky texture coat with nice length developing. The colour was a pale cream with a hint of a golden hue developing. Her points colour was well developed being a strong orange/red on her mask and tail with some tabby markings, her legs were much paler which is to be expected. Her gloves were well marked to the angle of paw and leg. White socks covered the entire back paws and her gauntlets were almost matching with the right one extending to the point of hock while the left was tapering to ¾ of the way. Very well grown female who was shown very nicely.

2 LACHLAN SIOLU TARANTELLA OFYOKOTA 13c6 30.3.10

A month younger and much smaller in size and substance. Quite a nice breadth of skull with rounded cheeks tapering to quite a firm muzzle and chin. Medium ears that were set apart on her skull. Adequate sized eyes that were a sound blue in colour and almost round in shape. Medium length nose with a very slight dip in profile. Her body was fairly long and needing time to develop more substance, although she was well filled. Medium length legs and quite strong, rounded paws. Her tail balanced her body needing the furnishings to develop more. Her body colouring was fawn in tone the silky texture needing to develop as her coat grows. Her points were seal brown with evidence of shades of cream to her mask, tail and all four legs. Her chin was pale cream. Her gloves were white to the angle of paw and leg, her socks were covering the back feet and her gauntlets tapered very slightly to ¾ up the hock. It was hard to make this out completely as the eye was easily pulled by the seal tortie patterning. Confident young lady who needs to develop and grow more but well shown.

NORWEGIAN FOREST KITTEN MALE

1 NORDLYS KESA 67 31S 19.5.10

A very promising kitten with a slightly long triangular head with large, well sets ears. Super almost straight profile with large oval eyes that were well opened and followed the lines of his head so well. Long body of excellent substance with long legs and large, round paws with super tufts. I particularly liked his coat texture already the double coat with super density and lovely glossy coarser guard hairs developing, however I am not sure that he is a smoke. His tail was just long enough and nice and bushy. Very well shown and one to watch!

2 YOUNGS SHEKAT SAMSON 67 31t 13.3.10

Very well grown chap needing more breadth to his head and ear setting. Large ears set a little high on his skull. Large, oval eyes not quite following the same lines as his head. Almost straight profile but lacking the internal triangle on the lower half of his nose. For me lacks a little on strength of chin for balance. Long body that was very well filled and with long legs and tail. Thick coat with dense undercoat and nice glossy coarser top coat developing. Well shown.

NORWEGIAN FOREST KITTEN FEMALE

1 BOB HERMONS NORDLYS SUVI 67 20 19.5.10

I really liked this young lady and see she is sister to the winning male. Has the very nice refined look about both of them. Her head is very nice triangular shape with her large ears well placed following the lines of the head down to a well developed chin. Large, oval eyes that were very expressive. Straight profile. Long body and tail with lovely furnishings. Long well boned limbs and large, round paws. Her coat was very well developed with thick undercoat overlaid with glossy, coarser guard hairs. Very well shown and so confident.

2 KESTLES COSCATHAS OPIE 67 20 15.5.10

Another very nice kitten, her head already being an equilateral triangle so I hope it continues to develop. Super large well set ears with nice furnishings. Expressive large, oval eyes well set. Almost straight profile and reasonable chin to balance. Long body with great weight. Long legs with dense boning and large paws. Long tail that was bushy and well furnished. Her body coat had nice length and was showing the dense undercoat and coarse, silky guard hairs. Again well shown.

3 COMERS ADECILO MELODY LOLINKSKY 67 31ts 15.3.10

This class was hotly contested and this young lady had many qualities too. Triangular head shape with large ears and super tufts! Eyes were a little deepset but were well set, following the lines of her head. Almost straight profile but I found her nose rather broad across the bridge taking away some of the elegance of the headtype. I would also like to see her chin develop further as she develops. Lovely long body with super weight and densely boned limbs and paws. Long tail with great bushy appearance. Her coat texture was the desired double texture with good woolly undercoat developing and covered by the coarser glossy guard hairs. Well shown and nice to handle.
