ESSEX CAT CLUB SHOW 10TH APRIL 2010-04-14 JUDGES REPORT MS JANE E. ALLENMany thanks to Helen, Mo and my fellow Essex committee members on another great show. I feel that everyone had a great time, it felt that nothing was too much effort and the lovely best of variety rosettes and wine seemed to go down a real treat!! I was lucky to have Corinne Ash stewarding for me on what turned out to be a very busy but enjoyable day. Thanks so much Corinne and I am looking forward to our next outing together. GRAND PREMIER PERSIAN NON SELF MALE1 GR PR FLINTS PR RIASCATZ BLU BI-DESIGN 12a219.12.07A most impressive boy with such lovely head type and balance. Wide top with a smooth skull and neat ears low set on his skull. Round, bold eyes of nice dark orange colour. Short nose with good leather and nostrils. Wide cheeks with good bite and firm chin. Cobby frame of lovely substance and short, stocky limbs. Short, full tail to balance. His coat was very well presented and the white really sparkled against the blue patches on his head and tail. I suspect that he is starting to moult – nightmare time of year to show Persians. However he did look absolutely beautiful, congratulations to his proud owner and to Marie his breeder. RES GR PR IMP GR PR CASHEL HEADBOY 54 11.7.03I always do like this boy he has such a pleasing look and such strength of type and character! He did look very lovely today but the bi colour boy was something very special indeed. GOLDEN NEUTERBOB ONLY GR PR CASHEL HEADBOYPEWTER NEUTER1 PR BOB ABBOTTS GR PR TAMOSAH FIREFLY 53 25.8.07An impressive boy with a very strong top of head and quite neat, low set ears. Smooth skull. Round rather pale orange eyes. Short, broad nose with a brick leather and nicely outlined. Good bite and chin. Fat cheeks. Lovely body and boning with short stocky legs. Short tail to finish. His coat was not at its best today, he needed more strength of colour to the pewter mantle and the undercoat was a little mingled at present. Very well shown and good to handle. AC TURKISH VAN ADULT1 CC BOB GUIDERAS SHADYCOMBE VANGUARDS HOPE 13d 14.5.09A very attractive young lady with considerable promise! Broad head and wedge with fairly long nose, almost straight with a barely perceptible dip when look at in profile. Moderately large ears set high on the head and fairly close together with very nice feathering. Her eyes were large and oval and so alert and of a lovely light amber tone. Her body was still very adolescent but was long and with lovely tone. Well boned legs that were medium in length and with neat, tufted paws. Her brush was long enough to balance her body. Her coat was very well shown, not overly full at the moment but chalk white. Her colour markings were matching on her head separated by vertical white blaze, just a suspicion that one was ending just below the line of her eye. Lovely auburn colouring to the markings and her tail. Very well shown and a really charming young lady! SEAL POINT KITTEN 1 BOB PIKES CAROONA DUMPLING 13c1 30.9.09A very eye catching exhibit with a temperament to match! Very promising breadth to her skull, nicely rounded. Full cheeks tapering to a well developed muzzle and chin. Medium length nose with slight dip in her profile. Almost round promising deep shade of blue developing. Long body with super body weight, medium length legs with strong boning and short, strong paws. Bushy tail in proportion to her body. Her coat was long and silky will a full ruff and of a pleasing tone of pale beige with a slight golden hue developing on her shoulders. Her points colouring developing well with dark brown developing on her mask, her legs and tail just a shade or so behind in density. I did find her gloves rather low and the colour encroached onto one toe on each foot. Her socks were covering the whole back paw and her gauntlets were good, tapering up her back legs to just below the point of hock. The white on her feet markings was absolutely pristine! In all a very promising young lady with outgoing personality as well. 2 TARRS TARKUSHA CARMEN 13c1 4.12.09A much younger kitten with a lot to like about too. On the day she was just not as well balanced in her head. She needed to develop more width to her head and muzzle and her ears appeared a little large and upright. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Firm chin. Almost round eyes with the blue colouring developing from the centre. Long body and bushy tail in proportion. Medium length legs with strong, short paws. Good substance and tone for her age. Her coat was not overly long as yet and fairly silky she had some more coarse coat at the base of her back but showing a promising golden hue over her shoulders. Her seal points were still developing, her mask being dark brown in the centre of her face and starting to spread further afield. Her legs and tail were still several shades lighter as one would expect. Her white gloves were a little low, with nicely marked socks and gauntlets. Confident baby who also has some considerable promise. 3 MASONS AMILLIANA SUMMER BREEZE 13c1 14.7.09Very well grown young lady with a strong, rounded skull and head. Round cheeks tapering to a firm muzzle and quite a strong chin. Medium sized ears set well apart on her head. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes that were slightly two tone blue in colour. Very nicely developed long body and bushy tail in proportion to her body. Medium legs with nice boning and strong, short paws. Her coat was quite long, not quite a full frill around her neck and a good pale beige in tone and silky in texture. Her seal points were developed well, although she had some brindling on her mask and her chin was much paler in tone. Her white gloves were almost to the angle of paw and leg but dipped slightly to the inner on both sides. Her socks covered her back paws. Her gauntlets were white to ¾ of the way up her back legs but were rather sliced and angled to the inside of each leg rather than tapering. Sadly she also had an isolated single white line at the top of the hock on her left back leg. BLUE POINT KITTEN1 BOB GRIFFITHS MUSCAR JENICOL-MARISA 13c2 20.9.09Pleasing young lady with a nicely rounded skull with medium size ears set quite well apart on her head. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Quite full cheeks tapering to a firm chin and well developed muzzle. Almost round eyes that were a pale blue in tone. Long body that was of nice weight, bushy tail in proportion. Medium length limbs with strong, short paws. Her coat was of good silky texture and blue/ white in tone. Her points were blue grey and matched quite well, I did feel that her chin was a little paler than the rest of her mask. Her front gloves were white to the crease between paw and leg and in a straight line. Her socks covered the back paws. Her gauntlets extended up the back of her hind leg to approximately ¾ of the way, the left one being slightly narrower but still tapering slightly. Well shown and sweet natured kitten. NORWEGIAN FOREST KITTEN MALE1 SCOTTS GLEDEKATT KVASIR 67 31s 5.10.09Very sweet youngster! Triangular head shape with large ears set well apart on his head. I would have liked his eyes a bit bigger but they were quite nicely set and followed the lines of his head. His profile was not quite straight and had a slight nose bump. Long body and tail with a thick coat that was still to develop the coarser guard hairs. He would have benefitted from a little more finish to his presentation. 2 FROSTS ELSKENDEVENN MICHAEL 67 31s 11.7.09Very well grown boy with a longer head type than Kvasir but sadly his ears were not overly large and that rather threw the balance a little. His eyes could have been larger but were correctly set. Almost straight profile but he lacked chin to balance. Long body with super weight and substance. Long legs and tail, complete with its white tip! His coat was very short as yet but did have some coarse top coat present. NORWEGIAN FOREST KITTEN FEMALE1 BOB GRANTS VANAHEIM KEIKO 67 20a 2.8.09This little girl quite stood away in this class, she is so attractive! Triangular head shape a little more isosceles at present than equilateral. Straight profile and what I loved about her is the height of her forehead that accentuates the straight profile superbly. Strong chin creates a lovey overall alert, typy expression. Large ears placed high but apart and following the lines of her head. Expressive large oval eyes correctly set and very alert. Very promising body, long with lovely tone and weight. Long limbs standing high and with hind legs slightly longer. Her paws were large and rounded. Very long tail that was bushy and well furnished. Her coat was very nice and with a very thick undercoat and covered by coarser, glossy guard hairs. Developing the length around her ruff and knickerbockers. Very well shown and I think a most promising lass! 2 SCOTT c/o RICKS GLEDEKATT NURPUS 67 31t 5.10.09I felt this kitten was a little small for her age, and needed a little more time to develop. Her head was triangular in shape but for her age it was already very equilateral in shape so may well end up a little short. Quite large ears high set and following the lines of her head. Large oval eyes. Almost straight profile and adequate chin. Her body was long but I would have liked a little more substance. Quite long legs and tail. Her coat was a little soft and she needs to develop more of her top coat. Well shown. MAINE COON BROWN/BLUE TABBY INC BI COLOUR NEUTERBOB ONLY TO BARLETTAS IMP GR PR COONTASTIC DON GIOVANNI 64 31tLooking absolutely lovely he is a super example of the breed with outstanding classic tabby patterning and groomed to perfection. MAINE COON SILVER TABBY SERIES NEUTER1 PR CANNELLS MABALAKAT WOLFMAN JACK 64 41sw 10.1.08Such an eye catching exhibit, very pleasing head balance of length to width with high cheek bones. Large, extravagantly furnished ears, just a little wide set for my liking. Large expressive eyes slightly obliquely set. Shallow concave curve to nose with super perpendicular line from nose tip to chin. Super square muzzle. Long, very well filled body with long, substantial limbs and powerful paws. Long super furnished tail. His coat colour was really lovely with super silver ground against the black patterning. Very well shown and super to handle. 2 JONES PR COONFLAKES QUANTUMOFSOLACE 64 41dsw 17.9.08I love the type and appearance of this lovely boy but sadly his temperament continues to let him down. It was a very quick assessment of him today before it was for all our safety that he needed to be put back in his pen, he made it very clear that he did not wish to be touched any more. BOB TO GRANTS PR MABALAKAT SILVER SURFER 64 41swEnormous lad with very nice head and type, very balanced. Super silver classic tabby pattern with lovely silver ground colouring. My deciding factor for the best of breed was the better (higher) ear set on this exhibit. My congratulations on his winning Best of Variety semi longhair. MAINE COON AOC NEUTER MALE1 PR BARLETTAS COONTASTIC HUFFLEPUFF 64 15d 29.5.09A very young male but with considerable promise. Very adolescent looking but already his head is displaying super width to length balance. Large, high set ears with nice tufts and tips. Lovely width to his cheeks with high cheek bones. Large, slightly obliquely set eyes. Uniform width nose with a shallow concave curve in profile. Very nice square muzzle and firm chin. Long body with some maturing still to do but with very nicely boned long legs. Long, fully furnished tail. His coat colouring was a very rich red with some ghost tabby markings but so well shown and sweet to handle. MAINE COON AOC NEUTER FEMALE1 PR BOB BARLETTAS UK & IGR CH & PR COONTASTIC RAFAELLA 64 31et 23.5.04I recently reported on this female neuter from the Semilonghair show and I can really not add anything further to what I said then. She is a super example of the breed and a great ambassador too. 2 DAWES PR EMPURRER MYSTIQUE 64 41gw 14.1.08Much more shy and retiring exhibit. Quite nice head type with good width to her face. Large ears with nice tufts and tips, sadly she was not at all impressed with us and steadfastly refused to lift them into the correct position! Large, slightly obliquely set eyes. Slight concave curve in profile. She had quite a nice square muzzle. Long body and tail but for me lacking a bit of substance and her coat was a little dry and looked as if it was about to start shedding. I hope we can meet again when she is a bit happier in herself. AC PERSIAN GRAND CHAMPION ADULT1 SOAVES GR CH LADYGEM CLAUDE MONET 12A2 24.4.07I do like this boy so much and have given him several first prizes over his show career and today was no exception, he has the most amazing head type and yet open and wide. Shown very well indeed and in great condition. 2 OWENS GR CH BESSJET ROCAWENPRIVATEJET 1 2.6.07This boy is another of my fav raves, he too was looking very nice indeed but his coat was just starting to go over the top and it was just down to this for the placings. Two absolutely top class males. AC PERSIAN BREEDERS ADULT1 HAWKES ZENITH JEMIMA 13 14.5.09Pretty little female only so young. I liked her head and type, for me her coat was not quite as pastel and I would prefer and could have been better mingled but she certainly had the edge in this class. 2 DAVEYS CH BRONABA TABITHA 3 14.8.07More mature female but not looking perhaps quite her best on the day, reasonable head and type but her coat was past it for the season, being shady and dry in texture and really lacking in undercoat. AC PERSIAN MAIDEN KITTEN1 HOWARDS FALABELLA BEAUTIFUL SOUTH 12a7 od 25.8.09Well grown very cute little chap! Nicely balanced head and type with gread breadth of head and neat ears. Round eyes quite bold and both of good colour developing. Full cheeks. Nice bite and chin. Stocky, well filled frame with chunky legs and a short, plumed tail! He was almost maximum white with pale cream patches to head, shoulders and fully coloured tail. Very well shown and great personality too! AC PERSIAN NOVICE NEUTER1 STALLINGS PICTUREBOOK TEMPTRESS 11 30.7.04Mature exhibit with very nice head and type super balance to her head with neat, low set ears, round copper eyes. Very short nose with wide cheeks, slightly undershot bite and firm chin. Large, cobby body with nice short limbs and a short tail. I thought her coat was a little bit dark in tone, lacking the shades of red and it was also a very thick texture. All her limbs showing colours and a very sweet cat to handle. AV SLH ADULT1 CANNELLS MABALAKAT PABLO PICASSO 64 41w 10.7.09A very impressive youngster with very promising head and balance for his age! Lovely long body and tail. Excellent coat for patterning and texture and so well shown. 2 BALDWINS ADVILO LORDOFTHESTARS 66 27.7.06A more mature exhibit with generally pleasing head and type. I felt his eye colour to be rather pale. Well shown but rather shaded coat. 3 STILES ADMIOLO JAZZ 13c11AV SLH SPECIAL LIMIT ADULT1 SIMMONDS GR CH GAYEMAUDIE RINGARINGA ROSY 13b11 1.4.05A mature and very attractive lady. Very well balanced head with strong, rounded skull. Full cheeks that were round and tapered to a well developed muzzle and nice depth of chin. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Medium sized ears that were spaced well apart on her skull. Almost round eyes that were of a lovely deep tone of blue. Her body was long with super boning and lovely body weight. Medium length legs with nice substance and short, strong paws. Bushy tail that was in proportion to her body. Her body was was soft and silky well developed ruff. The colour being a pleasing tone of pale beige with just a little shading but clear at the roots. Her points matched well with distinct seal brown tabby patterning. Clear M on the forehead with her eyes outlined with light coloured spectacle markings. Spotted whisker pads. Thumb prints on the back of her ears. On her legs and tail the tabby patterning was well defined. Her front gloves were white to almost the angle between paw and leg the right one being slightly lower and fractionally scalloped. White socks covered the whole of her back paws and her gauntlets were well matched and tapered slightly to ½ way up her hocks. Very nicely shown and great to handle. 2 SHADYCOMBE VANGUARDS HOPE3 STANTONS CH RAGADDICT MIAMORIO 66 31 2.10.07AV SLH MAIDEN ADULT1MCHUGHS FELLPURRS INCA OF LEWSHAN 64 41ew 11.6.09A very attractive young lady who I have had the pleasure of handling previously when she was a kitten. I really like her overall look and type but would like her profile to have a little better definition on the nose. I would like there to be a little more curve in the nose which I hope will come back as she continues to mature. A most attractive coat colouring and patterning, coat quality and overall presentation was lovely. 2 STANTONS RAGADDICT BRIAR ROSE 66 3.6.09Another very young adult with some very pleasing features but needing more time to mature further . AV BIRMAN ADULT1 PIKES GR CH CAROONA PIPPYTOO 13c2 21.9.03Very mature female who won this class on overall balance and head type. Almost round eyes that were a very strong, deep blue in colour. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Long body with lovely substance. Medium legs with good boning and strong, short paws. Her tail being in proportion to her body. Her points colouring were a pleasing shade of blue-grey very evenly matched. Her body coat being blueish white with very minimal shading. Her front white gloves were just dipping slightly to the inner. Well matched socks and gauntlets that tapered up the hind legs to just below the point of hock. Very well shown and in excellent condition. 2 ADAMS GR CH AREZZA MY FAIRLADY 13c14 22.2.06I also found this exhibit very attractive Broad and rounded skull with neat medium size ears set well apart. Almost round eyes of deep blue, showing lovely expression. Quite a strong muzzle. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile and a has pink nose leather outlined in lilac pigment. Quite wide cheeks. Long body with good weight and medium length legs with strong, short paws. Her tail was bushy and was in proportion to her frame showing faint tabby markings and a solid lilac tip. Her white gloves were well matched. The back socks almost matched and her gauntlets taper half way up the back of the legs. Her points were a pleasing tone of lilac with the desired pale beige agouti background. Her facial mask showed delicate markings with a clear M to her forehead, , pale eyeliner and spotted whisker pades. Faint lilac tabby markings to the.
