MAIDSTONE AND MEDWAY CAT CLUB 18.12.10 JUDGES REPORT MS JANE E. ALLEN

What can anyone say about the white out apart from well done everyone for hanging on in there!!!! It was an experience all round and one that I hope not to repeat too soon. So thanks to Anne, Brian, Shelagh and Kit for braving it out and running the show so well!! Thanks to Saffi Rabey for standing in until Jo Clements arrived – thanks Jo for the supreme effort to get there. I was sorry that so many people did not manage to make it especially two of my three YES exhibitors but well done to Marina Curtis who did and delivered such a wonderful presentation. A little bit of GCCF history was made that day!! To make my day complete, yours truly had the honour of choosing the Maidstone and Medway Christmas Cracker – which was such a tough decision but one which I was delighted to give to the most stylish and eye catching Siamese IMP GR CH JOHPAS SENORITA RUMBALITA (32a). She is just stunning and made me go really weak at the knees!! An experience repeated several times on the way home too but for very different reasons!!!!

GR CH PERCIVALS IMP GR CH BLEUGEMS TEDDIE BEAR 66 31 8.8.07

I really liked this mature, loving boy! He has such a serene manner about him and is a real show boy! Very nice width across head with well defined cheeks, and muzzle. Flat plane between his ears and a gentle dip with a retrousse nose tip. Well defined chin and a level bite. Ears well set, with lovely width at base. Nicely shaped eyes slightly obliquely set and a decent bright blue colour. Super body shape and substance and well boned legs with lovely tufted paws. Quite a full brush balancing his body well. His coat was very beautifully prepared, complete ruff that framed his lovely face, very good length overall including knickerbockers! Inverted white blaze, with white as required in the standard to bib, chest and underbody, front legs and back legs to the level of his body with just one small patch of seal on one hock. His mask and ears a dense seal brown, I felt his tail was just a little brindled by comparison. His body colouring was warm beige shading on his back & two patches of white on his back. A really lovely boy. Congratulations.

RES GR CH HANDYS CH NORMYSTIC LORD BURR 67 20 2.5.09

A much younger male with considerable promise. Very nice triangular head shape with large well set ears. Expressive eyes that were of a good shape and setting. Almost straight profile which for me was a little broad across the bridge, just lacking the elegance and refining of the head. Super body length and substance with good boning to his limbs and nice paws. Long tail that was well furnished. Lovely coat that was full and of good texture and very nicely shown.

AOV SLH CHAMPION FEMALE

GR CH GRANTS CH NOYNAROCK GRETA 67 31s 19.8.09

I just loved this young lady, her whole appearance screamed NFC!! Beautifully shaped triangular head with ears, eyes all following the lines of the head shape. Very expressive eyes of lovely size. Straight profile with super depth of chin and nice rise of forehead. Sizeable frame but still retaining elegance. Hind legs slightly longer than fore limbs. Her coat was really thick and double with the woolly undercoat covered with super coarser and glossy top coat. Very well groomed and calling her head off!! A very worthy winner of this grand certificate. Congratulations.

RES GR CH BUNCES UK GR CH COONTASTIC LAMMTARRA 64 31t 27.10.05

A very impressive large and well grown girl with large ears with extravagant tufts and tips. Wide cheeks with nice high cheek bones. Large, correctly shaped expressive eyes. Square muzzle and firm chin, for absolute preference I would just like her whole head just a little wider for total balance. Lovely long body with super limbs and strong paws. Long beautifully furnished tail. Her coat patterning and colouring was excellent with such warmth to the tabby patterning and her white just sparkled. So well shown and so sweet to handle.

AC TABBY OR TABBY OR WHITE EXOTIC NEUTER

1 PR BOB TONKS IMP GR CH ZENDIQUE U’VEBEEN TANGOED 70 12a5t 9.5.08

A most lovely mature boy with total balance to his head and body. Everything about him is round and totally dominated by enormous round, deep copper eyes. Super round head with super smooth skull and neat well set ears. Wide cheeks with sweeping lines, great strength around jaw with level bite and firm chin. Cobby, well filled frame with short, well boned limbs and strong paws. Short, rounded tail to finish. Very well patterned classic tabby patterning with super richness to his colouring, the white just sparkled in contrast. The density of his coat was very good and he was as ever groomed to perfection.

2 WHITES DANADIA ARTEMIS 70 12a5t 14.2.10

A much younger exhibit who still looked very much the baby in comparison. At the moment his head is small and not in balance with the rest of his body. Smooth skull with quite neat ears well spaced on his head. Round eyes of lovely colour. Very deep stop to his nose. Wide cheeks just a little more fullness around the jaw area to complete the width to the lower part of his face. Acceptable bite and firm chin. Cobby physique with sturdy short legs and paws. Short, rounded tail to finish. This lad has the richest red coat that I have ever seen with nicely defined classic tabby patterning, his white areas were pristine. However, he has a lot of stray white hairs in the red tabby areas which detracts from his overall finish.

3 CAIRNS AND YUILLES PR HADFIELDS EYES GOT THE LOOK 70 30 8f 20.5.08

An outwardly very appealing look with very typy expression but sadly he is quite undershot and I could not overlook the almost white undercoat on this exhibit. He was very well shown and sweet to handle.

RED, CREAM AND TORTIE POINT BIRMAN KITTEN

1 BOB ROBSONS AND BRIGLIADORIS SHWECHINTHE SUNSILK 13c10 24.5.10

This little lady had just graduated from charm school!!! What a super kitten and my judges choice rosette. Very promising type with a lovely broad, rounded head with medium ears set nicely apart on her head. Almost round eyes that were excellent shade of deep blue. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Cheeks full and tapering to a nicely developing chin. Lovely body substance and tone with good length and nice medium length legs and short, strong paws. Her tail balanced her body well and was developing nice length and texture. Very delicate colouring of lilac and creams, magnolia body colouring contrasted very nicely and with a good silky texture. Her mask showing the greatest intensity of colouring, there was a very light dusting of lilac on both her front legs, it was more obvious on her hind legs. Her gloves were just slightly low but even and her socks covered the whole back paws. Her gauntlets tapered to about ¾ of the way up the back of her hind legs. Very well shown and such a sweetie to handle.

NORWEGIAN FOREST KITTEN MALE

1 BOB SPOONERS TIGANLEA MAYOR LEVI 67 31a 28.3.10

In all a very complete package here!! Eye catching young man with very nicely developing head type with lovely triangular head shape and large ears well set on his skull. Super expressive eyes that were obliquely set following the lines of his head. Virtually straight profile with good forehead and a decent depth of chin. Long body with nice boning and hind limbs a little longer. Very long tail that was well furnished. Super development of the double coat and so well groomed.

2 GRANTS NOYNAROCK TROY 67 31ts 19.4.10

This large baby was really so unhappy that he did not show himself off well. He had very pleasing type and head shape but would insist on flattening his ears the whole time. I particularly liked his boning and build. Long tail that was nicely furnished and double coat developing well. I do hope he gets a bit braver as he gets older.

3 HANDYS NORMYSTIC LORD CEROXYLON 67 18 4.6.10

A very well grown kitten for his age and just at that inbetween stage at the moment. Very pleasing head, just a little isosceles at the moment but time is on his side for that to change as he grows. Large eyes very well set on his skull. Virtually straight profile but needing more forehead and chin to balance as yet. Long body with excellent weight and muscle tone already. Long tail with nice furnishings. Very well shown.

NORWEGIAN FOREST KITTEN FEMALE

1 HANDYS NORMAGIKATT RAPHEALA 67 31fts 28.3.10

Im not sure what had set all the NFC’s off but something had spooked them all and this young lady was decidedly crisp! Overall a pleasing head development with equilateral triangle shape and quite large eyes set well apart. Quite large eyes that were correctly set but her temper made them appear slightly rounded at times! Slight dip in her profile and again would like a stronger chin for balance. Good body substance and length with long limbs and tail. Her coat was well shown and developing the desired double texture.

2 withheld 3 MARSALA ADECILO ARIZONA 67 15 20.6.10

I was sorry to withhold on this sweet baby but I found a fixed deviation at the end of her tail that was confirmed by the duty vet so left me no choice. A very confident kitten with very pleasing type and well shown. I was very sorry.

AC SELKIRK REX KITTEN MALE

1 BOB HAZELS WYREWOOD CRUSADER 79S 40 4 9.5.10

What a lovely, lovely kitten very mature for his age with lovely round, broad head. Nice muzzle with well padded whisker pads visible in profile. Broken whiskers. Short, broad nose with downward slant. Firm chin with good bite. I loved his large round eyes, I do hope they continue to develop the blue a little further as he matures. Cobby body rectangular in shape. Medium length substantially boned legs. Round paws. His coat was really good with dense thick texture and so well curled everywhere. I really thought he looked the whole part – congratulations.

AC SELKIRK REX KITTEN FEMALE

1 RYANS ARKTOS AILIS 79S 15 30.7.10

A mouthwatering little girl with such quality for one so young. Everything about her was round! Super head shape and medium ears. Large eyes that were well opened. Short nose with correct downward slant. Firm chin with super muzzle and well padded whisker pads. Super body confirmation with lovely boning and limbs. Her coat was dense black and the quality of her curls superb! I had great problems prising her from Jo!!!

2 RYANS ARKTOS AINE 79S 20g 30.7.10

This little sister was also very nice indeed and I would have happily given her a first too, to split hairs, Ailis had the slightly better coat quality and really that was all there was in it.

3 RYANS ARKTOS AOIFE 79S 20 30.7.10

What a fab litter!! I did feel that Aoife had a more British type of look with less defined whisker pads and her coat was not quite as curly but none the less a very sweet example of the breed as well.

YES PRESENTATION - NOVICE LEVEL Marina Curtis with 299 CURTILLA CZARA 16a

I was delighted to listen to Marina presenting Czara to the audience. CONFIDENCE WITH HANDLING EXHIBIT For her first attempt Marina soon over came her stage nerves and was very confident in her handling of her exhibit (who was also a born star of screen and stage I feel!!) ATTITUDE TOWARDS AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE EXHIBIT. I felt Marina demonstrated a very good and thorough knowledge of the breed and was very systematic in her assessment of the breed. KNOWLEDGE OF SHOW PREPARATION, PENNING AND HEALTH AND SAFETY AT A SHOW She also showed good knowledge of show procedures and the health and safety associated with cat shows, for example why we have vetting in at shows and what is the importance of disinfecting between each exhibit. OVERALL IMPRESSION AND FURTHER COMMENTS Marina so deserved her round of applause from everyone, I judged this to be an excellent presentation. I am sure that next time Marina will be even more at ease and will be able to speak even louder and my hint for the day was to try and look at people as you speak to make them feel even more involved in the presentation. Thanks to Marina for her hard work before in preparing for the class and well done again on the presentation – an excellent start!!
