NATIONAL CAT CLUB SHOW 11TH DECEMBER 2010 JUDGES REPORT MS JANE E. ALLEN

Many thanks to Carol, Ron and the committee for the invitation to judge again at this year’s show. I had a great time with some wonderful cats to handle and enjoyed the experience as ever! Karen Guidera stewarded for me our first encounter and I thoroughly enjoyed my day with her. Thanks Karen and looking forward to our next time working together.

IMPERIAL – AC PERSIAN GR CH ADULT MALE

IMP GR CH SOAVES GR CH LADYGEM CLAUDE MONET 12a2 24.4.07

I believe that this certificate made this lovely boy up to Imperial! I was delighted to learn this later as I have long admired him and been judging and placing him throughout his career. He is for me what a Persian is all about, superbly balanced head with large round orange eyes that are dominant in his face without having to work to get him to open them! Super top with neat ears. Short nose with good leather and nostrils, firm chin and good bite. Cobby frame with short legs that are well boned. Short, well furnished tail to finish. Almost maximum expression of white that was really white and well shown. Although not in full coat he looked the part and I just felt his type and maturity was the deciding factor on the day. Well done to his owner and breeder a wonderful achievement for a wonderful cat.

Res JENKINS GR CH LOMORAS BOBBYDAZZLA 12a5 29.8.09

A much younger boy who has done very well to get this far so quickly!! Overall a pleasing boy but for me he needed a bit more finish to his coat to really do him justice, that water staining I know is a real challenge! I also felt that his brown was a tad strong detracting from his eyes that were super copper colour but not as open and dominant as I like. Nice top, short nose and wide, full cheeks. Substantial body and boning. Very full coated on the day but as I said a little more finish to the white bits on his face needed for complete perfection!

AC SELF PERSIAN PREMIER NEUTER MALE

GR PR DASHWOODS GR PR PETITEPAWS APOLLO 70 1 23.5.08

What a lovely exotic boy! He has all the attributes that I look for in an exotic, lovely round head with well spaced neat ears. Large, owl like copper eyes that really stand out against the dense black coat, again very dominant eyes that need no help to be open and round! Short nose wide cheeks and firm chin with just a slightly undershot bite. Cobby frame that is well filled with short, nicely boned limbs. Short, rounded tail. His coat was thick and stood away well form his body. Sound in colour and well shown. A most pleasing boy.

RES GP BRAY & GRIGGS PR CHARBONNELLA RED BARRON 4 14.7.09

A much younger looking cat with some maturing still to do I felt. Broad head with slightly upright ears as yet. Excellently coloured eyes that were slightly sore and he was not keen to open them fully. Wide cheeks with good bite and firm chin. Large, well grown body with super weight and thick, short legs. Short, full tail. Very well shown rich red coat that was virtually sound in colour.

CHINCHILLA KITTEN

1 BOB NEALES BROCKLEHURSTS CUSHKA DARE TO DREAM 2.7.10

Such a sweet little baby boy! Promising type with lovely width between quite neat ears. Round eyes with the colour still changing but a promising blue/green tone. Short nose with brick red leather and clear liner. Wide cheeks with a slight teething pinch around the jaw, adequate chin. Cobby body with quite good weight and nice boning to his short legs. Short tail with nice furnishings. Very full coat that was evenly tipped but on the day giving an appearance of being heavier than I think it will finish up. Very confident baby who showed very nicely.

BROWN/BLUE TABBY (INC BI COLOUR) MAINE COON NEUTER

1 BOB FLEMINGS GR PR COONTASTIC DANCING BRAVE 64 31t 27.10.05

Mature lad who I have judged on several occasions over the years and looking very nice today. He has large well set ears with super furnishings. Large, expressive slightly obliquely set eyes. Uniform width nose with shallow concave curve in profile. Strong square muzzle with nice firm chin. Long, very well filled body with long well boned limbs and strong paws. Long tail that was reasonably well furnished. I particularly loved the warmth of his colouring and the definition of the classic brown tabby patterning. Lovely to handle such a gentle giant.

AC PERSIAN ARISTOCRAT ADULT

1 BANGS CH LAFREBELLA KISMET 2a M 23.3.09

I love this young boy he is just everything one could wish for in a Persian as well as having the most amazingly full, sparkling white coat. My congratulations and admiration to his devoted owner/breeder he is wonderful.

2 HUDSONS ORBIS SERAFINA 3 F 25.8.08

This little girl I am afraid is just not in the same league. Rather triangular shaped head in all with quite neat ears widely spaced. Very nicely coloured copper eyes that were of a reasonable size. Fairly short nose. Lacks width to her cheeks and jaw. Quite a cobby body shape but with a dark shady coat that lacked finish and presentation.

AV SLH ARISTOCRAT ADULT

1 GRANTS VANAHEIM PHAEDRA 67 22a F 21.1.09

A most elegant young lady with super lines to her head and type. Large, well placed ears that followed complete the lines of her head. Virtually straight profile with super depth of chin to really give that balanced look. Large, obliquely set eyes that were so expressive. Long body with super weight and long elegant limbs and paws. Long well furnished tail that balanced her body nicely. Super double thick coat texture with a really woolly undercoat. Well shown and very good to handle. A really complete package and stylish girl.

2 KESTLES WESTRIKAT GUSTAV 67 31 M 17.8.09

I think this young man was still very much in the between kitten and adult stage. Generally pleasing triangular shaped head with reasonable sized ears placed apart on his skull. Pleasing eyes for shape and set. For me I would prefer a little more height to his forehead and I did detect a slight dip in his profile. Good chin creating good balance to his lower head. Long well filled body with elegant limbs. I would like his tail a little longer to really give full balance. His coat was still developing the coarser guard hairs, well shown.

3 HATLEYS BIRMOON SUGAR N’SPICE 13c11 27.4.07

AV SLH KITTEN BRED BY EXHIBITOR part A

1 MURRAYS ISADORYOU LIGHTNING BUG 64 41esw 13.3.10

This little girl (well not that little!) was my best of breed winning kitten from the Supreme and had lost none of the flair of that day. She retains wonderful head type, coupled with the most amazing silver colouring contrasting against strong tortie tabby patterning. Expertly shown and a personality to carry her places.

2 ALLENS TISANTI MILEY 13c4 F 9.5.10

This young lady was also a very eye catching exhibit. Good breadth to her rounded skull with medium sized ears set nicely apart on her head with full, rounded cheeks tapering nicely to a well formed muzzle with good bite and full chin. Her nose was medium in length with the desired slight dip in profile. Her eyes were almost round and when out of her pen did have a tendency to appear rather bold. She did however relax when put back, she was being a complete show off! Nicely proportioned body with good length and a bushy tail to balance. Her coat was long and very well shown and silky in condition complete with a full ruff framing her head. Her points colouring was a delicate tone of pinky-grey more defined on her mask, her legs were still several shades lighter at this time but one could determine the foot markings – her right glove was white to the angle of paw and leg and to the stopper pad, her left one was slightly scalloped. Sparkling white socks covered her hind paws and the gauntlets were white to the point of hock and tapered slightly. A very eyecatching exhibit with attitude!

3 RICHARDSONS HUGGENHUFF TINKERBELL 13c1 31.3.10

AV SLH KITTEN BRED BY EXHIBITOR part B

1 HANDYS FORESTSHADOW FRIKKA 67 31TS F 21.3.10

This kitten was a most attractive girl, with all the desired lines following the elegant lines of her head through to the placing of her large well furnished ears. Large, expressive eyes that again followed the same angle as the head. Straight profile with good rise of forehead and a well developed chin that just gave her whole head such elegance and style. Long body with super limbs and a long well furnished tail to finish. Excellent coat with such good double texture and very well shown.

2 HAMILTONS PHATPAWS SHOW OFF 66 31a 6.7.10

I was very hard pushed with this baby and my winner, I really do think this boy has amazing potential with super head type coupled with super body and coat. I will watch his progress with great interest. Superbly shown and such great show presence.

X2 HAMILTONS PHATPAWS MWAH MWAH 66 31a 23.7.10

Half sister to Show Off and so similar in many ways the boy just had the edge of a couple of weeks more development and finish but again one to watch as she grows.

3 HAMILTONS PHATPAWS ICE DRAGON 66a 5.4.10

A third baby from the same “stable!” I honestly was spoilt for choice three babies to be really proud of – well done!

X3 LEONARD-SMITHS ALCHEMIST JACKOF HEARTS 82 31dt 28.7.10

How nice to see such a quality Siberian baby, everything about this little chap was rounded with lovely low cheekbones and so solid in his structure! I felt he was a very nice example of this new breed and particularly appreciated his thick dense undercoat with distinct coarser top coat coming through. Very well shown and a confident baby to handle.

AV SLH ADOLESCENT NEUTER

1 BLADES ALISKA DEVIL INDISGUISE 64 31s 28.12.10

Another of my Supreme exhibits, I loved him very much there and still do, wonderful type with really stylish coat colouring and presentation. Showed to perfection and such a dollop to handle!!

2 BAILEYS NICADAEMUS PERRY PIZZAZZ 13c5 1.11.09

I remember having this lad as a baby and liking him a lot then and he still caught my eye today only sadly he was not easy to handle today. However I did think he had a very nice head with good strength to his broad rounded head. Medium length nose with the slightest of bumps in profile. Full cheeks that rounded to a decent muzzle and chin. Medium sized deep blue eyes that were almost round in shape. Long, well grown body with medium, thickset legs. Bushy tail that balanced his body well. His points colouring was a strong orange/red with pale cream body colouring with the slight golden hue across his shoulders. His white gloves were almost to the angle of leg and paw, white socks and his gauntlets extended to approximately half way up the back of his leg and were just a little blunt in the finish. I was sorry he was not easier to handle as he really is growing into a very pleasing youngster and was shown very well.
