THE SOUTHERN AND SOUTH WESTERN BIRMAN CAT CLUB SHOW 11 SEPTEMBER 2010 JUDGES REPORT MS JANE E ALLEN

I was thrilled to be asked to judge at this friendly club’s first Championship show, my thanks to them and to Tania for the stewarding duties! Nothing was too much trouble for the club to make us comfortable and well fed!! My thanks for a wonderful time and for the bag of cat goodies the Zendique gang enjoyed too!

BLUE POINT BIRMAN 14 WEEKS – 6 MONTHS KITTEN MALE

1 BOB COLLINS DUBROVA RONALDO 13c2 19.2.10

I just loved this young man’s expression. Broad, strong skull with medium sized ears spaced well apart on his skull. Full cheeks that rounded to a well developed muzzle and chin. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Almost round, sound mid blue eyes with super expression. Very nicely toned body for his age, with good length and depth. Well boned medium length legs with short, strong paws. His tail was bushy and balanced his body well. Silky coat texture with the length developing nicely and with blueish white tone nicely presented. His points colouring were a pleasing blue grey well developed on his mask tail and legs. His gloves were white to just below the crease of paw and leg and both dipped very slightly to the inside. White socks covering his back paws and his gauntlets extended to ¾ way up his hock, matching length and tapered very slightly to the end. Such a lovely temperament as well a very nice kitten to start my day!

BLUE POINT BIRMAN 14 WEEKS – 6 MONTHS KITTEN FEMALE

This class was such a delight to judge I would have happily given any of the first three a first prize.

1 BRIGLIADORI & ROBSONS SHWECHINTHE PHACELIA 13c2 5.4.10

This young lady did give Ronaldo a run for the Best of Breed! Another very attractive exhibit with beautiful expression. Strong skull that was broad and with rounded contours. Full cheeks tapering to quite a strong chin. Her ears were a little high on her skull at the moment. Medium length nose with a slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes with a sound, blue tone. Good length to her well filled body and strong boning to her medium length legs. Bushy tail that was proportionate to her body length. Her points colouring matched so well for her age being a lovely blue/grey tone and contrasted so well with the blue/white body colouring. Pure white gloves almost to the line between the paw and leg, her socks were equally pristine and covered the back paws and her gauntlets were to ¾ up her hocks, the right gauntlet has just a slight line to the inside but still on the back of that leg. Super presentation and temperament.

2 SABERTONS SAKKARA MARLINKA 3c2 27.3.10

Very well grown young lady with strong, broad rounded skull, her ears a little on the large side but nicely set apart on her skull. Her cheeks were full and rounded, tapering well to her muzzle and a well developed chin. Long body with super weight and strongly boned medium length limbs. Bushy tail that balanced her body nicely. Blue/grey points coloured that matched well with blue/white body colouring with silky texture developing. Her gloves were white and were almost to the angle between paw and leg. Her socks covered her back paws. The gauntlets were just below ¾ up her hocks and just finishing a little straight rather than tapering. Again very well shown and super to handle.

3 BAILEYS NICADAEMUS MAYFAYRE-LADY 11.5.10

I really liked this young lady, her expression was wonderful and one to watch I am sure! Younger than the other two her skull was already broad with nicely rounded contours. Her ears were a little large as yet and needing to establish a little more space between them on her skull. Rounded cheeks that tapered to a firm muzzle and already nice depth of chin. Almost round eyes with a sound strong blue tone. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Her body showed a nice length with pleasing tone and weight. Her legs were medium in length with strong boning and short strong paws. Her tail was developing the bushy furnishings and was proportionate to her body length. Her coat colour was blue/white in tone, the texture was still a little kittenish but some silkyness was evident but yet to develop much length. Promising points colouring of blue/grey tone just paler on legs and tail. Her white gloves matched and ended at the line between paw and leg. White socks and her gauntlets tapered to 3/4 of the way up her hock. Very well shown and a confident kitten.

BLUE POINT BIRMAN 6- 9 MONTHS KITTEN FEMALE

1 CRUMPS GLENPETER SYMPHONY 13c2 10.1.10

Such a well developed young lady just a little grumpy to handle on the day. Broad, strong and rounded head with well spaced apart medium sized ears. Rounded, broad cheeks tapering to a firm muzzle with balancing chin. Almost round eyes that were a slightly paler blue in tone. Medium length nose with a very slight dip in profile. Long body that was nicely toned and with well boned, medium legs. Bushy tail that was balancing her body length well. Her coat was quite long and silky in texture but lacked a little bit of preparation in general. Her mask was blue grey in colour but lacked the colour around her whisker pads and there were some ghost tabby markings on her forehead. Her tail and leg markings matched well. Her gloves were a little short and slightly scalloped. Her socks covered her back paws. Her gauntlets were not quite matching with the left one longer and slightly veering inwards rather than tapering evenly.

CREAM POINT BIRMAN 14 WEEKS-6MONTHS KITTEN MALE

1 NUTLEYS SIOLU TEQUILA SUNRISE 13C7 22.5.10

Confident young kitten with a good rounded skull and head. Medium sized ears set quite well apart on his head. Width of cheeks developing and rounding to a developing muzzle with quite a strong chin. Almost round eyes with a sound blue colour. Medium length nose with a shallow dip but a slight roman bump in profile. Promising body length with medium length nicely boned legs and strong round paws. Medium length tail that was developing the desired bushy furnishings. His coat was still very baby in texture but some silky texture on the back. His points colouring were pale so we took him to the light to confirm his feet markings. His gloves were white to just below the angle of paw and leg. His socks were white and covered the back feet. His gauntlets appeared to be white to almost ¾ way up the back of his hind leg and very slightly tapering. Well shown.

AC TORTIE POINT BIRMAN 14 WEEKS – 6 MONTHS KITTEN FEMALE

1 EVANS TISANTI MADE IN HEAVEN 13c10 31.1.10

Lilac tortie A very well grown young lady with a broad skull with rounded contours. Round cheeks that tapered to a reasonably strong chin. Her ears were well set apart on her head just fractionally large at present. Medium length nose with a slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes that were a deep sound blue in colour. Long body with good substance. Medium length legs with good boning and strong short paws. Medium length bushy tail that balanced her body. Her body colouring was off white and quite silky in texture with nice length developing. Her points colouring was very delicate and still strengthening in tone but the lilac was just visible on all four legs and well intermingled with shades of cream on her mask and tail. Her feet markings, her white gloves were lower than to the angle of the leg and paw but evenly matched. White socks covered the back paws. Her gauntlets were white to approximately half way up the back of her legs, the left one slightly narrower than the right. Very nicely shown and handled well.

2 ALLENS TISANTI CARRISMOON ALLENE 13c6 21.5.10

Young seal tortie point with excellent bone and structure for her age. Rounded skull with nice breadth developing. Medium ears fairly widely set on her head. Medium length nose with slight roman bump in profile. Cheeks quite full and taper to an adequate depth of chin as yet. Almost round eyes of sound mid blue in colour. Quite a long body and medium length legs with rounded paws. Her tail was in proportion to her body with the furnishings developing. Her body colouring was fawn and still rather kitten texture but contrasted nicely against her well developed points colouring, which showed seal brown intermingled with shades of light and dark red. I felt the white on her right glove extended past the stopper pad. She had fully white coloured socks and the gauntlets were difficult to assess with the tortie colouring but appeared to me to be around ¾ white up the back of her legs and just a little blunt.

AC TORTIE POINT BIRMAN 6 - 9 MONTHS KITTEN FEMALE

1 BOB DAVIES ADECILO IOFIEI 13c8 22.2.10

Stylish blue tortie point. Broad head with rounded contours and a strong skull with medium size ears spaced well apart on her head. Broad cheeks tapering to a nicely developed muzzle and firm chin. Almost round strongly coloured deep blue eyes. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Long body of good substance and depth. Medium length legs with good boning and round strong paws. Her tail was bushy and in proportion to her body. Her coat was off white and silky in texture and of good length. Her points colouring was very delicately toned with the blue intermingled with light and darker shades of cream on her mask and tail. The definition of colouring on her legs was not as well developed but I did find a very light dusting of colours on each limb which was confirmed by a senior judge. Her feet markings were all well marked and sparkling white. A very well shown exhibit who was lovely to handle.

AC JUNIOR ADULT 1 SABERTONS SAKKARA GRUNDY 13c1 29.4.09

Young male with pleasing head type. Broad, rounded skull with slightly large ears but well spaced apart on his skull. Broad cheeks tapering to a nicely developed muzzle and firm chin. Almost round mid blue eyes. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Long well filled body with pale beige body colouring with a golden hue of good length and a full rough with quite a silky texture. Dense seal mask and his legs just a shade or two paler, his tail however was rather brindled but was bushy and balanced his body well. His gloves were slightly low, white socks and his gauntlets were of good length but rather blunt rather than tapering.

Very stylish mature exhibit with great presence! Broad head with rounded contours, medium size ears spaced well apart on her skull. Medium size ears nicely set apart on her skull. Broad cheeks tapering to a well developed muzzle and chin. Almost round eyes that still retained a strong deep blue colour. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Long body, although not overly large, was substantial in weight. Medium length legs with nice boning and strong, short paws. Her body colour was s clear off white magnolia colouring with lovely silky texture. Full ruff around her neck. Her points colouring were a pink/grey tone with lilac nose leather. Her feet were all very well marked and her show presentation was first class.

2 BUSHS PR BIRSARUS SPRING GRACE 13c1 14.6.06

Pleasing head type with nice breadth to his rounded skull. Quite neat ears set well apart on his head. Full, rounded cheeks tapering to a nicely developed muzzle and chin. Almost round eyes of sound blue colour. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. His chin balances the face well. Long substantial body with bushy tail in proportion to his frame. Medium length legs with nice boning and strong, short paws. His body colouring was a pleasing tone of beige with slight golden hue and silky in texture. Dense seal mask, his legs and tail being a little less dense in colour. His white gloves were a little low, his socks covered the back feet. On his left gauntlet the white extended from the back of his leg to the inside of the hock. Well shown gentle boy.

AC VISITORS NEUTER

1 EVANS TISANTI JALAPENO SUNRISE 13c15 7.5.09

A very well grown young man. Broad, rounded skull that tapered from his broad cheeks to a well developed muzzle and adequate chin. His ears were a little large but were spaced well apart on his head with the desired thumb prints. Medium length nose with a slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes that were a sound mid blue in colour. Long substantial body covered in a pale cream silky coat, in summer length on the day but nicely shown. His legs were medium in length with very good boning and short, strong paws. Bushy tail that balanced his body well and showing quite good clarity of the many rings. His mask was showing quite a rich red colour with lighter apricot background and a clearly defined M to the forehead with spectacle markings around his eyes and spotted whisker pads. His legs were slightly paler in colour but marked with broken stripes. His gloves were a little low but matching and his socks covered the back paws. His gauntlets were of good length up the back of the hock approximately ¾ in length but had rather a blunt finish rather than tapering. Very well shown young man who handled extremely well.

Glorious tabby and white young man who was just stunning! I love his expression with the cute inverted v on his face. All his white parts were sparkling and the texture of his entire coat was like velvet. Excellent condition and presentation! My congratulations

2 PEPPERELL GMC HARVEY MN 1 YEAR 8 MONTHS

brown tabby Another super cat today just slightly less confident than Boris but very sweet none the less. He had super pale green eyes that just glowed with health and gain a super coat perhaps just a shade less silky but again showed in excellent condition and another super young man.

1 BOC TALBOYS GOBBOLINO

black baby of 5 months and plenty of timber about his!!! He is such a cutie how could he be named after the witches cat!!!!! Confident, outgoing and just 100% adorable with jet black semi longhair cat that was groomed to perfection a complete star!!

1 HUTCHISONS MOCHA

5 month old black, chocolate and white. Mocha too was a super little girl, I wonder if her chocolate bits will stay that colour or become more black as her coat changes and such a sweet little bit of white!! Again super confident for such a baby very well shown and in top form as well.

1 FORDS MOBY CLAVIUS MN 7 MONTHS TABBY

The quality and condition of this little chaps coat was stunning it really blew me away (as well as several of my judging colleagues too!!) It gave me immense pleasure to give him overall BIS – his patterning is a complete lesson in what a classic tabby should look like and that texture was simply divine. Added to that he had a real glitter to the rich colouring – In all a stunning exhibit and I bet such a pleasure to live with too!!

What a lovely girl in super condition and such a sweet lady to handle. Full marks for top show preparation. Obviously a well loved lady and my pleasure to handle today.

1 FROSTS TIGGER MN BLUE TABBY AND WHITE 7 MONTH

This little chap for his age was enormous and so well grown. Everything about his was rounded and cuddly!! Superb coat and condition with such an attractive colouring. A tad shy but handled nicely when out from the pen.

2 HOLMANS LOUIS CHOCOLATE POINTED MN 2 YEARS

A super cat in wonderful condition just a little grumpy when out! He was very well shown and full marks to his young owner for being so attentive to his every need as well as obviously loving him to bits. It was so nice to be able to talk to you after judging had finished and I do hope that you will consider joining the YES programme!!
