BOBCS SHOW 19TH SEPTEMBER 2009 JUDGES REPORT MS JANE ALLEN

My thanks to Barbara and the committee for my invitation to judge at their show this year. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and was delighted to have Jo Clements working with me. Thanks Jo for your help and for the kind handling of the cats and the marked catalogue to finish it off. Can’t wait till our next time together!

AC TABBY OR TABBY AND WHITE EXOTIC ADULT, FEMALE

1 CC BARRETTS CH FINCHFIELD FASHIONISTA 70 7 28.8.08

Eyecatching young female with very nice head type and balance. Good top of head with well spaced ears. Rounded skull and broad cheeks. Large eyes of round shape the colour still to settle but looks a promising shade. Short nose with acceptable leather. Good bite and nice depth of chin to balance. Cobby frame with short, stocky limbs. Short, rounded tail. Dense, thick coat with nicely defined patterning. Very well shown and sweet to handle.

TORTOISESHELL KITTEN

Sweet little kitten with such character and confidence! I particularly liked the balance of her head with neat, well set little ears. Round eyes that were still settling in their colour. Short nose with full cheeks. Good bite and firm chin. Really square stocky body with short legs and tiny tail. Very well shown coat that was shades of red against a very promising density of black. Colours distributed to the extremities of her body and legs. Most attractive baby.

BLUE OR LILAC TORTIE AND WHITE KITTEN

Another very promising young female with very nicely typed features. Round head with quite neat ears widely spaced on her skull. Round eyes of good size and a sound orange developing. Short nose with decent size leather and nostrils. Wide cheeks with a nice bite and firm deep chin. Cobby frame of nice weight and short tail. Her coat was predominately white with both colours evident on her head and body, however I did feel that the blue was rather the dominant colour with only small amounts of cream which did detract slightly from the colour balance.

PEWTER/BLUE PEWTER NEUTER

Very nicely typed lad with wide top of head and quite neat, widely spaced ears. Smooth skull with large, nicely coloured round eyes. Short nose with good leather and nostrils. Wide cheeks and a nice level bite and firm chin. Large well filled frame with short, well boned limbs and round tufted paws. Short, well furnished tail. His coat was very well shown, I would just have preferred to see more definition to the mantle. Very good to handle.

GOLDEN PERSIAN NEUTER

Very much the seasoned campaigner who I have judged on numerous occasions. He was looking at his best on the day and I think he has one of the best golden coats for colouring with a really warm apricot overlaid with even tipping. Groomed so well he was looking really lovely on the day.

Mature male with a very good head and type with large, upright ears well set on his skull. Wide cheeks with high cheekbones. Nice length to breadth balance. Uniform width nose with shallow concave curve in profile and quite a good squareness to his muzzle. Nice perpendicular line in profile. Long, very well filled body with long, strong limbs and powerful feet. Lovely length of tail that was nicely furnished. His coat was so well groomed and had super texture and density. Good to handle.

2 CLAYSONS LYNDONGRAEY THE SURVIVOR 64 41d 20.6.08

At a year younger this adolescent male was feeling a bit hormonal I felt and would put his behaviour down to that. He was not at all happy to be handled but thanks to Jo’s handling I managed to assesses him. Quite nice head length with large, high set ears with quite a good width between them. Expressive large, slightly oval eyes. Uniform width nose that showed a shallow concave curve in profile and with nice perpendicular line and quite a firm chin. I would expect to see his head broaden further as he matures and his squareness of muzzle develop further. Long body and tail that I am sure will develop further as well as he matures. Long limbs with good boning and powerful paws. Long tail that was nicely furnished. Reasonable length to his coat that was a nice silky texture and showing distinct classic tabby patterning and I appreciated the strong red tones of his patterning and ground colour. Well shown.

AOC MAINE COON ADULT FEMALE

Eye catching young lady who for me despite her tender age had the balance and overall quality that I am looking for in this breed. Very nice head with large, high set ears with good width between them. High cheek bones with great width to balance the length of her head. Large, slightly obliquely set eyes that were so expressive. Shallow concave curve to profile with perpendicular line and nice firm chin to balance. Square muzzle and good bite. Long body that was very well filled and long, well boned legs and powerful paws. Long tail that was well furnished. Her patching was very clear with distinct patches of red and black against the sparkling white. Very confident and well shown.

1 BOB COMERS ZELANDONII BLUE OSKI 67 16 19.3.09

An attractive kitten with that typical NFC expression already! Triangular head just slightly isosceles in proportion at present with large high open ears set nicely on his head and already following the lines from his chin. Green eyes that were of good size but slightly deep set. Almost straight profile with good forehead and a reasonable depth of chin. Good substance and with a long body and a super long, bushy tail giving good body to his frame. Long legs with large bone structure. Rounded paws with nice tufts between his toes. His coat was developing well with thick, woolly undercoat overlaid by a developing top coat of coarser, glossy hairs. Very well shown and a very nice male with good temperament.

2 MUSWELLS NORSKEXTREME OZYMANDIAS 67 18 3.5.09

Sweet young male who I felt needed more time to develop width to his whole head. Triangular shaped head again slightly longer at present time with large ears quite well placed on his head but just a little high set. Expressive eyes that were large and oval in shape. His profile was not quite straight as yet but with a good forehead. Good strong chin. His body was long with nice depth and substance. Long well boned legs with the typical NFC stance. Tail was bushy and just long enough to balance. Coat well shown and in the developmental stages with thick, woolly undercoat evident especially on his flanks, the coarser top coat in evidence on his lower back. Well shown young man!

3 HERMONS CLEASANTA THOMASS 67 20 13.5.09

What a substantial young chap! Triangular head shape that was already of equilateral proportions and I felt a little short in the head overall. Quite large ears set high and open with an almost straight profile and good height of forehead. Almost straight profile with quite a good depth of chin developing. Large expressive eyes that were oval in shape. Lovely substance and feel, with good depth of body and long in length. Long bushy tail with long, nicely bones limbs. His coat was developing with some thick woolly undercoat and the most profuse amount of guard hairs, that were promising nice development of the desired coarser top coat. Well shown and as the other two very nice to handle.

1 MUSWELLS NORSKEXTREME ELISE 67 18E 3.5.09

Litter sister to my second male kitten and again very well grown lass! Triangular head shape slightly longer than equilateral shape at present. Large ears that she held a little wide in the pen but did hold them better out! Large, oval eyes that were expressive and alert. Virtually straight profile with nice depth to forehead. Little weak on her chin but she was teething so hopefully that will rectify in time. Super body with good depth and substantial feel. Long, bushy tail to balance. Long legs with nice boning and super tufted feet. Her coat was very thick and woolly with some longer coarser top coat developing on her back and shoulders. Very well shown.

2 MUSWELLS NORSKEXTREME OPHELIA 67 20 3.5.09

Very similar to the first placed in kitten in appearance but not with quite the width to her face and head as yet. Large high placed ears that just need to have more width between them. Expressive quite large eyes oval in shape. Almost straight profile but with a slightly broad, flattened shape across the bridge of her nose detracting from the desired look. Teething at present so her chin too was a little weak as yet. Long body and tail with nice substance and well boned, long limbs. Tufted feet. Quite a thick undercoat already developing with evidence of longer, coarser glossy top coat developing. Well shown.

3 HERMONS CLEASANTA IONA 67 31ets 11.6.09

Sweet innocent looking youngster with definitely the cute factor enhanced by a very nicely prepared most attractively coloured coat. Short, triangular shaped head with rather wide set ears. Oval eyes that followed the head lines. Slight dip in her profile. She is still very young and needing to develop more length to her body and tail as yet. Long legs that had good boning and she was substantially built! Already showing good coat development with thick undercoat and the glossy, coarser top coat coming in nicely. Very well shown.

This little lady just needed more time to develop. Sweet temperament and wanting to come out and see us!

AC PERSIAN SELF BREEDERS ADULT

1 EDIKERS LAZANE CLASSIQUE 2a M 8.11.08

I was very taken with this boy, fantastic size and substance for his age. Round head with neat, wide set ears. Round, copper eyes. Short nose with good leather and nostrils. Full fat cheeks with nice bite and firm chin. Cobby large body with short, stocky legs and a short plume of a tail. Long pure white coat that was groomed to the last hair. Congratulations, I really liked him!

2 PAYNES PEMPAKAT ANDANTE 5 M 23.8.08

Nicely typed male with good facial balance, wide head with neat ears. Large copper eyes that were widely set on his skull. Short, broad nose, wide cheeks and a good bite and firm chin. Large frame and excellent boning. Short tail to finish! Quite well shown but at present rather a biscuit colour to his cream coat and some shadiness present. I know creams are notoriously difficult to breed and show and also this may improve with maturity.

Attractive exhibit with broad, rounded head. Medium sized ears spaced nicely apart on her strong skull. Her nose was medium in length and in profile there was a slight dip. Full cheeks and nicely developed muzzle. Firm chin. Her eyes were almost round in shape and a deep shade of blue. Large, well boned body with nice substance. Her medium length legs were thick set with short, strong paws. Her tail was in proportion to her body and nice and bushy. Silky coat in lovely condition, fawn in tone shading to warm brown with nice ruff. All her points were nicely defined and all showing the seal intermingled with shades of red. Her gloves were just below the line from the paw to leg, socks were covering the foot and her gauntles were almost matching one ¾ length the other white to the hock. Very well shown and in excellent condition.

An impressive boy but needing a little more time to develop his coat and condition after his stud duties I would suggest!!

A most attractive, mature exhibit with very pleasing type and balance. Strong, broad rounded skull. Medium sized ears widely spaced on her head. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile and a nice depth of chin to balance. Full, rounded cheeks and muzzle. Almost round eyes of a sound mid blue colouring. Long, well muscled body of lovely substance. Medium length legs that were well boned and with rounded, strong paws. Bushy tail in proportion to her body. Pale beige body colouring, silky coat with the desired slight golden hue. Her points were all very clearly defined with seal markings on pale brown background. Her gloves were very well marked, her hind legs having white socks and the gauntlets tapering up the back of her legs, finishing just below the hock. Very well shown.

Young female who was a little short in the head, although triangular in shape was not quite the desired equilateral triangle shape. Fairly large ears spaced quite wide apart but not quite wide enough to follow the lines of her head. Her eyes were rather straight set giving quite a round setting and expression. Virtually straight profile but with a rather broad, parallel nose bridge spoiling the elegance of the expression. Strong chin. Quite a long body with nice weight and tone. Long limbs with good boning and tufted paws. She did have the typical NFC stance with hind limbs slightly longer than the fore. Her tail was fairly long and bushy. Her coat was dense and with a woolly undercoat covered in some longer, coarse guard hairs mainly around the lower base of her back. Well shown.

A very stylish young lady with a lovely personality and disposition. Super broad, rounded head developing with medium sized ears quite widely spaced on her head. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile and nice depth to chin to balance her head. Almost round eyes that were a sound, deep tone of blue. Her body and frame developing very well with nice length to body and bushy tail in balance. Medium length limbs that were well boned and round, strong paws. Silky coat with ruff developing. Her points colouring developing well, her mask still to completely develop around her whisker pads and chin. Her gloves were pure white and symmetrical ending across the paw and leg. Her socks again pure white and covering the entire paw. Her gauntles slightly tapering up the hind legs finishing just below the hock. Wonderful show presentation.

A most impressive mature exhibit with super presence. Strong broad, rounded skull. Medium sized ears, set well apart on his skull. Full, rounded cheeks and well developed muzzle. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile and nice depth of chin to balance. Amost round eyes retaining a sound, deep blue colour. Strongly build, long body with super substance. Bushy tail in proportion to his body. Medium length legs with lovely dense boning and strong, round paws. Long, silky coat with golden hue over shoulders and nicely developed ruff. Dense seal brown points matching well. His gloves and gauntlets were very well marked and pristinely presented.

2 BARLETTAS UK IMP GR CH COONTASTIC RAFAELLA 64 31et

I have handled this exhibit several times over her show career and she looked very impressive today.

X2 TARRS GR CH & PR TARKUSHA COLUMBINE 13c6 15.8.01

Mature exhibit with super presence. Broad, rounded skull with medium sized ears well spaced on her skull. Full cheeks and strong, well developed muzzle. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Almost round eyes that were a sound, deep blue colour. Long body with good body weight. Medium length limbs with nice boning and rounded paws. Silky texture coat that was fawn in colour shading to warm brown and pale red. Her points showing both seal brown and shades of light and dark red. Her gloves were very well marked to the angle between paw and leg. Her hind legs, socks were pure white and covering the entire paw and her gauntlets tapered slightly to ¾ to the hock. Very well shown and a strong character.

3 SEMOS UK GR CH & PR PRIDNJOY ARABESQUE 13c1 20.8.99

A mature exhibit in the most wonderful condition. Broad, rounded skull with medium, well set ears spaced well apart. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile but also with a slight bump evident. Nice depth of chin to balance. Almost round eyes with sound blue colour. Wonderful body and weight with medium length legs and round, strong paws. Bushy tail that was proportionate to her body. I did feel her coat was just a little thick rather than completely silky in texture but with the golden hue over shoulders. Dense seal points colouring. Her gloves were just little low and slightly scalloped, her white socks covering the paw and her gauntlets tapered slightly to finish just below the hock.

X3 HATLEYS PR BIRMOON CHILLI PEPPER 13c5 15.3.05

Yet another very nice exhibit, mature expression with strong, broad skull nicely rounded. His ears were a little generous but well set on his skull with nice width between them. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Nice depth of chin to balance. Large, almost round eyes of sound blue colouring. Long body of nice weight, medium length legs and strong, round paws. Bushy tail in proportion to his body I did feel that the end was just a little tense. His points colouring were a strong red with pale cream silky body fur. Very nicely marked gloves and gauntlets. Generally well shown.
