BEDFORD AND DISTRICT CAT CLUB SHOW 24TH APRIL 2010 JUDGES REPORT MS JANE E. ALLEN

My thanks to Linda and Alan Ward and the committee for the kind invitation to judge this year. It was a very nice show with Anna stewarding for me again! It was a lovely experience to judge the SLH kitten and I was so pleased when he went overall best in show. My congratulations to his proud owner a lovely boy with so much still to do!!!

AC PERSIAN NON SEL F PREMIER NEUTER MALE

1 GR PR WILLIAMS GR PR FIRANTY RIGHTSAID FRED 12a5 14.5.07

Pleasing exhibit with broad top of head and nicely spaced ears. Quite round eyes of nice copper tone. Short nose with wide cheeks. Good bite and chin. Cobby frame with a mainly white body colouring with random spots of rich red patches. Well shown but just starting to moult.

Reported on more times that I care to mention and still looking very nice on the day.

Sorry to withhold on this exhibit but she just did not quite look the part for me on the day. She has quite pleasing head type with nice balance but her eyes were very pale. Coupled with that her coat was really whispy and not that well groomed, I just did not feel I could award her this high certificate.

BLUE ADULT

1 CC WITHHELD CARTERS BARRKUDOS SKYPILOT 27.6.09

This young man was really needing more time to pull it all together. Broad top of head with quite well set but open ears. Round copper eyes. Very short nose with restricted nostrils. He also lacks a little fullness on the lower half of the face at present. Slightly undershot mouth. Long body and tail that lacked depth. Short, shady coat that had been very well presented.

SILVER TABBY ADULT

1 CC WITHHELD WEATHERLEYS PICWICK PURRSONALITY 28.6.09

A very nicely typed youngster with pleasing expression and type. Sadly for me he completely lacked definition of tabby patterning from a distance I could see the faint suspicion of an oyster on his side but apart from that the whole coat was diffused. I hope that as he matures and grows his new coat that the markings improve.

AOC EXOTIC SH NON SELF ADULT

I have to admit that I have seen this girl look better. I would suspect that she has been calling as she seemed to be lacking substance and had also lost considerable density in her coat. She does still have vibrant colouring in her coat and retains some plushness as well but I do wonder if she has passed her peak for the current season.

TORTOISESHELL NEUTER

1 PR STALLINGS PICTUREBOOK TEMPTRESS 30.7.04

Mature lady that I reported on recently at the Essex and my comments still apply only 2 weeks later. She has amazing strength of head and type, with excellent colour eyes. Cobby frame with stocky limbs and excellent boning. Short tail to balance. Her coat was perhaps a little on the dark side but there was adequate shades of pale and dark red throughout. Very well shown and so worthy of her Premier certificate.

BLACK/CHOC/RED/TORTIE ETC SHADED AND TIPPED CAMEO NEUTER MALE

A massive boy with such a sweet disposition. Very pleasing head type with wide head and neat ears placed low on his skull. Round eyes still retaining a good sound orange colour. Short nose with wide cheeks. Good bite and chin. Huge frame but still stocky and with chunky short legs supporting it. Short fully furnished tail. His coat contrasts were very clear and the length of his coat was lovely and so well shown.

AOC MAINE COON NEUTER MALE

1PR BERGMANS PR SOMERSISLE THEODORE 64 36 22.8.08

I was very taken by this boys very balanced head type. Very pleasing width to length balance with large ears high placed on his head but also having the desired width b etween them. High, wide cheek bones. Uniform width nose with shallow concave curve in profile and lovely straight line from nose tip to chin. Very nice squareness of muzzle. Long body and tail with super contrast in his colouring. Long well boned legs and strong round paws. His coat had just started moulting with some dryness at the roots but I did forgive this as it is the time of year and overall it did not detract from his overall good points! A very together sort of lad who I liked a lot.

2 BARLETTA COONTASTIC HUFFLEPUFF 64 15d 29.5.09

Very recently reported on and he just needs a little more time to broaden his head and muzzle for total balance, but he is already a very fine young man indeed!

3 BUTLERS JUAULS INQUISITIVE IAN 64 31 1.10.08

The quality of the coat on this exhibit was truly lovely! Again with this young man he just needs to broaden his head further to gain the desired breadth to his head and muzzle. Very well grown with long body, strong long limbs and strong powerful paws. A very pleasant exhibit to handle and one that just needs time. I all three very nice boys all deserving of that silver card!!
