MERSEYSIDE CAT CLUB SHOW 5TH JUNE 2010 JUDGES REPORT MS JANE E. ALLENMy thanks to Jennifer and the committee for their kind invitation to judge again this year. I do like this show with its friendly atmosphere. My thanks to Peter Kilmartin for his stewarding duties and the marked catalogue – I hope he enjoyed himself too! IMPERIAL PERSIAN GRAND CHAMPION MALEIMP GR CC Ellis GR CH ROSJOY WHAT ASHOCK 13b15 23.7.05Mature exhibit with very nicely balanced head and type. I particularly liked his eye shape, size and colour. I thought he also had a very nicely presented coat that had reasonable length given the time of the year. However, I would like him to be more substantial but in view of the fact that he was very well shown was my deciding factor in awarding this highest accolade to him. Reserve withheld – there is nothing more tough than showing an exotic when they decide to throw their coat!!! This boy had done just that and therefore was not looking at all at his best, most of his coat was on the pen floor and the rest was floating around the pen and his body. Sorry to withhold, something I hate to do but he really did not do it today. TORTIE/CHOC TORTIE AND WHITE ADULTBOB ONLY TO GRIFFITHS CH NYKLANI FREYA OFJUBIL 12/1 28.3.09A most attractive young lady who I have had the pleasure of handling before and she continues to develop very nicely. I had no hesitation in awarding her best of breed. AC TABBY/SMOKE/CAMEO AND WHITE ADULTI felt very honoured to be able to give the first CC to this attractive breed, the gold cards have been a long time coming and it is testimony to a dedicated breeder that a cat that she bred receives the first certificate, well done Ruth and thanks for your dedication to the campaigning of this fantastic breed. 1 CC NICHOLAS QUARTET INSPIRATION 12a1t 21/4/09Beautiful young female with lovely head and type. Broad skull with tiny well placed ears. Round sound orange coloured eyes of good size. Short, broad nose with wide cheeks. Good bite and chin. Cobby body and short, fat limbs. Short, full tail. Her coat was all white with the colour confined to her head and tail with one small leg spot. Her grooming was excellent and the colouring on her tabby patches was warm and clear. A lovely girl and superbly shown with fantastic temperament. 2 THORNBURNS ALINDAS PASTAL CONFETTI 12a8t 17/7/09Hard lines to come second but another pleasing exhibit none the less. She lacked a little on maturity with a smaller head as yet. Quite well set ears with a smooth skull. She was not keen to open her eyes that appeared to be quite a reasonable size. Short nose, still needing to develop further around her lower muzzle. Fairly cobby frame and good body weight. Nicely patched coat with very faint tabby markings at present. TABBY COLOURPOINT ADULT1 CC ELLIS SOROLYA FAMOUS FOOTSTEPS 13b17 10/7/09Son of my imperial winner and a promising young man just obviously lacking the maturity of his dad! Round head and skull with quite neat ears settling down nicely onto the sides of his skull. Round eyes that still need to develop the blue colour from the centre. Wide cheeks with good bite and chin. Large, well filled frame covered with super pale body coat. His points colouring developing well with good definition of the cream tabby on all points. Very well shown and sweet to handle. BOB GR CH ROSJOY WHAT ASHOCK TABBY COLOURPOINT KITTEN1 BOB BARBERS JENZJEWELS WINTER PARADISE 13b15 26/12/09I just loved this kitten, for me he does have everything that I look for, and more!!! Super head type with neat well set ears. Round eyes with the colour still developing. Short nose with full cheeks. Nice bite and chin. Very large frame for one so young – obviously likes his food!!! Lovely long, full coat that was groomed to perfection and with lovely definition developing on his points. One to watch I am sure. CREAM NEUTERBOB ONLY GR PR SSAFASEC DAGWOOD BUMSTEAD 216/07For me on the day a very pleasing typed exhibit but rather on the dark side of cream. Well shown. AC TURKISH VAN ADULT1CC BOB LOMBARDS IZAMBARD SECILMIS OLAN 13d 20/6/09Still a very young male but developing very nicely. His head is developing well, just needing a little more width overall to give that modified wedge appearance. Medium length to his nose with a barely perceptible dip in profile. Expressive eyes, oval and expressive and light amber in colour. Moderately large ears with nice feathering and set quite close together and high on his head. His body was substantial for one so young but obviously still to develop even more muscle and depth. Well boned limbs with neat, tufted feet. Medium length legs. Quite a full tail that balanced his body well. His coat was in between stages, quite silky and more of a summer length but not woolly, chalk white with the auburn head and tail standing out well against it. His head markings were nicely separated by the white blaze and about the right amount of colour , white ears with shell pink insides. Very well shown and just a bit on his toes when we handled him! BROWN/BLUE TABBY/TABBY AND WHITE MAINE COON ADULT MALE1 CC WITHHELD CROOKS BEARDWOOD THEO ROUSSEAU 64/41 28/2/09I was very sorry to withhold on this impressive male but I felt that his mouth was slightly undershot thus prevented me from awarding a certificate. BROWN/BLUE TABBY/TABBY AND WHITE MAINE COON ADULT FEMALE1CC DUNN AND EVANS MABALAKAT DORA MAAR 64/41w 10/7/09Young female who had a very promising overall type and balance just needing a little more time to develop further in the maturity! Large, high held ears with huge tufts and tips! Quite a broad muzzle with high cheek bones. Uniform width nose with shallow concave curve and a nice perpendicular line from nose tip to chin. I hope as her head widens further that the square muzzle develops with it. Expressive eyes correctly set. Long body and tail with the coat well groomed. Just a little solid on her back at present. I do feel that she was worthy of the CC overall she just needs more time to mature. BLUE POINT BIRMAN KITTEN1 BOB RUSSELLS JEMLEY TWILIGHT MOMENTS 2/2/10A sweet, confident young kitten! Very promising head with broad, rounded skull developing. Medium size ears that were spaced well apart on her head. Expressive almost round eyes that were of a sound mid blue colour. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile and quite a firm chin. Her body was very well grown with lovely weight and condition and a bushy tail was in proportion to her body length. Medium length legs that were nicely boned and with short, strong paws. Her coat was silky in texture but still very much at the kitten stage, super bluish white body colouring with just a little surface shading, her blue-grey points developing well. Her feet were sparkling white with well marked gloves to the angle of paw and legs, her socks covered her back feet and her gauntlets tapered up the back of her legs, the right one being slightly shorter. Very outgoing kitten who was a joy to handle. AOC MAINE COON NEUTER1 PR RATHBONES CELTICOON RAFFERTY 64/41d 1/2/09A very pleasing young man who was shown to perfection. Medium length head with large ears nicely furnished and set high on his head with required width between. Large expressive eyes slightly obliquely set. Full cheeks and high set cheek bones. Uniform width nose with shallow concave curve. Nice muzzle squareness I would just like his chin a little deeper for balance. Long, rectangular body, nicely substantial and long, well boned legs and powerful, tufted paws. His tail tail was nicely furnished and balanced his body. His coat was a super texture and quite good length given the time of year. Super colouring and the patterning was so well defined. A very promising young man who was confident and a real pleasure to handle. BOB WOODCOCKS GR PR DARKTOWER SAXON KING 64/31 27/10/00Black & White. With excellent contrast of the dense black and pristine white areas so mature and handsome. NORWEGIAN FOREST NEUTER1 PR WAREINGS NORGESKAUKATT OSKAR 67/14a 14/6/09Super young man who I understand is now a premier and so deserving of his new title! Lovely equilateral triangle head shape with large ears nicely set following the lines of his head. Large, obliquely set eyes that are so expressive. Virtually straight profile with nice strength of forehead and chin. Long body with super weight and substance. Long limbs with super boning and strong tufted paws. Super length of tail to balance his body. Double coated albeit a little seasonally challenged on the day but with the slightly coarse texture evident on his back. Shown so well and a real pleasure to handle. BOB to a very lovely boy PR VESLEMOY CHARLIE CHOO 67/25/8/08AC PERSIAN DEBUTANTE CATwow what a stunning class of youngsters! 1 QUARTET INSPIRATIONMy CC winning tabby and white Persian. 2 MCENTEES ZENDIQUE VIVIENNE WESTWOOD 70 12a1tA very attractive young exotic with superb head type and balance, super round head with neat well set ears. Large, expressive orange eyes, short nose, full cheeks and good bite and chin. Very well grown body with cobby frame and stocky legs. Short, rounded tail to finish. Very dense plush coat that was just starting to moult. Well spotted and super condition and presentation. 3 ROGERS MILNUSS MISS VICTORIA 70 8eGorgeous little tortie tabby exotic AC PERSIAN JUNIOR CAT1 CH NYKLANI FREYA OFJUBIL2 FARSON & JONES CH GEMKIN BLUE LIGHTNING 12 a2Very nicely typed male with super head type and balance just not keen to open his eyes at first but when he did, lovely colour and shape, it just completely changed his face and appearance! Lovely body and weight, short but quite sound mid blue coat that contrasted well with the sparkling white patches. A nicely put together young male. 3 NICHOLAS GEMKIN OBSESSION 2a FReally pretty youngster with oodles of time to grow and mature but very promising as well. AC PERSIAN KITTEN 3 – 6 MONTHS1 JENZJEWELS WINTER PARADISE 13b15 26/12/09AC PERSIAN BREEDERS NEUTER1 GR PR SSAFASEC DAGWOOD BUMSTEAD 216/07AV SLH ADOLESCENT CAT1 MELIAS SUPATOFT TIKA MASALA 63 FI really liked this young 10 month old lady she had such a typical Somali expression and that gorgeous smiling face! Moderate head with gentle curving contours. Nice ear size and nicely set with that deserved crescent shaping. Large, almond eyes so expressive and bright. Correctly surrounded by slighter spectacles and pencil lines. Her nose showed the slight nose break. Firm chin with elegant neck. Lovely physique, medium built body with all in balance. Elegant limbs with oval paws and tufts present. Her coat was soft and fine with a ruff and breeches. Very well defined ticking with super apricot base coat colouring. Fully coloured heels. Very well shown and a confident young lady. 2 HADENS RUTTERKIN KENTUCKY RAYNE 64 41esw FI admired the type and build of this young 13 month old lady. Very pleasing head type and balance. Long, rectangular body and super length of tail. Super boning and good to handle. However, she would have benefitted from more show preparation to really compete in this quality class. 3 KEEPINGS BAYGAZER MCTAV’S SON 13c2 MAV SLH LIMIT KITTEN1 JEMLEY TWILIGHT MOMENTS 2/2/102 HOLDEN’S WIACASSET JAK FROST, 64 14b, MN, 26.11.09Odd Eyed White. A young man of six months old, already showing a wonderful body shape and substance. Large ears, well set apart on the head and well furnished. Medium length head with the cheeks yet to develop. Slightly oblique set eyes, left eye was greeny golden, right pale blue. Shallow concave curve to his uniform width nose. Square muzzle, firm chin. Excellent body shape being long and rectangular, with nicely boned limbs and strong tufted paws. Fully furnished tail, of super length to balance his body. Super length to his coat that was pristine white and sparkled. My congratulations to his devoted owner for such wonderful show prep – no mean feat with a white!!! 3 GARLANDS COONARIA OPHELIA 64 41eAV SLH DEBUTANTE NEUTER1 BURGESS’ KASSARO CISCOKID, 64 41w, MN, 14.05.09Classic Brown Tabby & White Maine Coon. Lovely youngster with great promise. Lovely large ears, super tips and tufts, set nicely apart on his head. Medium length head, with lovely length to breadth ratio. High set cheek bones. Large, expressive slightly obliquely set eyes.Uniform width nose with shallow concave curve in profile and lovely perpendicular line from nose tip to chin. Super square muzzle and a firm chin. Lovely length of body. Long, flowing tail. Great coat for length, texture and pattern, well marked with warm agouti base and dense classic tabby markings. Super to handle and shown to perfection. I really liked him a lot. 2 WAREING’S MUSRAFY IVASHKA, 82 20, MN, 12.08.09Brown Tabby Siberian. Still looking like a big kitten but with considerable promise as well! Short broad wedge with rounded contours and a slightly rounded muzzle and chin. Low set, broad cheekbones, connecting to the muzzle and chin. Wide set ears of medium size and nicely furnished. His eyes were large, set slightly obliquely and widely spaced. Balanced rectangular body, with a nice weight for his age and well boned limbs of medium length. Large, tufted paws. Tail, broad at the base and balanced his body length and was reasonably well furnished. I felt he was in between coat at the moment with a short ruff. The coat texture retained some springiness and his topcoat was of reasonable length for his age and the time of year. 3 HINDS MAGISRAGIS SERENDIPITY 66a
